Elizabeth Betty Hogue
June 19, 2012
Elizabeth “Betty” Jones Hogue, age 84, of Lincoln passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012 after a brief illness. Betty was born June 12, 1928 in Rhymney,Wales, UK to David Jones (Shirgaer) and Martha Rees. She was the youngest of their eight children. Betty was a war bride. At the young age of 17 (1945) she met and married
an American GI Sargeant Richard A. Hogue who was stationed in Cardiff, South Wales. Richard’s career with the US Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service took them to many cities and states in the US. Betty was supportive and together they dedicated their lives to making a loving home for their six children in Iowa, New York, Virginia, and Nebraska. Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. The family made many trips back to visit Wales, as Richard had promised Bettys father. The Welsh relatives are also mourning her loss. Through the years she kept the family history alive with her sharp memory and photo collection. Betty was generous almost to a fault. She was a wonderful friend and neighbor.
Betty was involved in quilting groups, the Welsh Society, and the War Brides Club. She was a member of the Blue Dot Society & Diamond Club. She enjoyed crafting, music, & theater.
Siblings Rachel, Frank, Sarah (Sal), Blodwen, Dan, Dave and Nancy all preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband of sixty six years, Richard. Betty is survived by her six children: Ronald (Sherry) Hogue, Beaumont, TX; Diana Hogue (Thomas Schur), Syracuse, NY; Pamela (Michael) Hurley, Raleigh, NC; Sandra (Fred )Duncan, Ada, OK; Karen (Kurtis) Suhr, Lincoln, NE; Sharon (Merv )Thompson, Birmingham, AL; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their great appreciation and gratitude to the Hogue’s neighbor and friend Dr. Michelle Manning. Also, thank you to Dr. David Rutz.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Friday, June 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.

John F. Orwen
May 22, 2013
John Francis Orwen of Lincoln, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 after a 5-year battle with cancer. He was born on June 20, 1946 to Clarence “Jack” and Dora Orwen in Beatrice, NE. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1964. He married
Joan Zimmerman in 1965. He had many occupations throughout his life including: Shoe repairman at Bell’s Shoe Repair in Beatrice, manager of Gibson Discount Stores in Beatrice and Nebraska City, electronic technician for Addressograph Multigraph, service technician for Cablevision, where he worked his way up to regional engineer, maintenance technician at National Bank of Commerce, and at last maintenance technician for The Arter Group. In 2002, he married
Gladys Buss in Sheridan, Wyoming. They met while both worked at the National Bank of Commerce.
He was a member of the Lincoln Amateur Radio Club, enjoyed traveling, photography, genealogy, working in his shop, and of course working on his many computers. He was a hard-working, kind soul, with a witty sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gladys Buss; daughter and son-in-law Jeanne and James Clavijo; grandchildren, Brandy and Beau Clavijo; mother-in-law, Clara Buss of Adams, aunt and uncle, Priscilla and Gean Thompson of Joplin, MO; sister-in-law, Ardyth Orwen, brothers-in-law and spouses, Rod Buss, Jerome and Renee’ Buss, Myron and Sharon Buss, Ivan and Gene Buss; sister-in-law and spouse, Veronica and Brian Kline. Numerous nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends. Special friends, Dennis Mathias, Ron Kolarik, and Richard Lorenzen.
Preceding him in death were his parents: Clarence “Jack” Orwen Jr. and Dora Robinson Orwen; brothers, Charles and Michael Orwen; sisters, Mary Blumer and Jackie Rowden.
Memorial Service will be at a later date.

Cleo Marie Bender

Cleo Marie Bender age 78 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at her home in Lincoln. She was born on July 8, 1934 to Arthur and Marie Schmidt. She was retired from Tabitha where she worked in food services as a Meals on Wheels coordinator.
Cleo is survived by her son and daughter, Charles Bender and Jacqueline Witzki both of Lincoln, granddaughter, Michelle Witzki of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother and sister.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Wyuka cemetery.
Marvin R. McIntosh

Marvin R. McIntosh, age 83 of Lincoln, died May 14, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. He was born August 10th, 1929 in Lincoln to Beecher and Inez (Steele) McIntosh. Marvin was employed at Goodyear for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Joann McIntosh of Lincoln; Daughter, Barbara McIntosh of Lincoln; Sons, Mark McIntosh of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Paul McIntosh of Lincoln and Craig McIntosh of Omaha; sister, Marge Chapman of Kalama, Washington. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bob, Wayne and Oral McIntosh; sister, Donna Ohrt; grandson, Russell McIntosh.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Wyuka cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Friday, May 17, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until service time all at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Julia Ellen McMichael age 92 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Bickford Cottage in Lincoln. She was born on April 4, 1921 in Seward County Nebraska to Ralph and Teresa A. (Sullivan) Walsh. She married
Forrest Ray McMichael on December 4, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas. Julia worked for many years as a Real Estate Broker at Century Realty. She loved dancing, cooking and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Julia is survived by her children: Kathy (Jim) Gordon of Grand Island; Kelly Cidlik of Lincoln; Forrest McMichael II of Laramie, Wyoming; John (Cathy) McMichael of Lincoln; and Peggy McMichael of Lincoln. Grandchildren: Belinda Cook of Lincoln; Jessica (Randall) Sorge of Hastings; Aaron Cidlik, Anna Cidlik both of Lincoln; Andrea McMichael, Christopher McMichael both of Fort Collins, Colorado; Amanda McMichael of Omaha, Kyle McMichael of Lincoln and Lukas (Ann) McMichael of Alexandria, Virginia. Great-grandchildren: Melanie, Parker, Taylor, Natasha, Tea, Jax, Lyric, Giana, Jonathon, Caileigh, Braydan and Paxtyn. Sisters: Bernadine Walsh of Sacramento, California; Bonnie Miller and Betty Anderson of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on August 22, 2008, sisters, Margaret, LaVern, Evelyn and Darlene.

Nelson Thomas Potter Jr.
Nelson Thomas Potter Jr., of Lincoln, September 22, 1939-May 12, 2013.
Born to Nelson and Hazel (Park) Potter, he was raised in Mt. Morris, IL. Graduated summa cum laude from Monmouth College in 1961 with degrees in philosophy and English. In 1961, Nelson was named a Woodrow Wilson Fellow. He received a Ph.D. in philosophy from Johns Hopkins University in 1969. Member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Appointed to the faculty of the University of Nebraska Department of Philosophy in 1965 and chaired the department from 1980-85. From 1974-76, Nelson directed UNL’s Centennial Educational Program. He retired from UNL in 2010 as a professor emeritus. His scholarly areas of specialization were ethics, aesthetics, and Immanuel Kant; he also taught history of philosophy, philosophy of law, and social philosophy. He served as President of the North American Kant Society from 1997-2000.
In addition to his academic career, he served the Nebraska Committee for the Humanities from 1974-79 as a consultant and participating humanist, as a board member from 1979-82, and as chair in 1982. Active in Nebraskans Against the Death Penalty and ACLU Nebraska for many years. President of Lincoln Friends of Chamber Music 1971-1986.
In 1978, Nelson married
Kathleen Johnson. Survivors include his wife Kathy and daughter Sophia; brother James (Ann) Potter; nieces Beth Zarring and Jenny Fraser; and cousins Chuck Newburg, Dick Newburg, Paul Park, and Claudia Guenther. Preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara Potter.

James R. Jim Krcmarik

James R. Jim Krcmarik, age 77 of Lincoln passed away peacefully at home with his family Thursday, May 9, 2013. He was born June 13, 1935 in Lincoln to Charles and Josephine (Wagner) Krcmarik. Jim served with the Nebraska Army National Guard in the 3667 ordinance battalion. He worked as an electrician with the BNSF railroad and was a member of the IBEW. Jim and Birdie were camp hosts for over 15 years and it was their biggest pastime. He also enjoyed Nascar racing, fishing and horseshoes.
Survivors include his wife Alberda Birdie, daughter: Lorie Chrastil, son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Carla Krcmarik, son-in-law: Jim Williams. Grandchildren and spouses: Brandon and Jessica Chrastil, Nate Chrastil, Dave and Stacy Everson, Rob and KellyJo Everson, Chrissa Bonow, Elyse and Austin Weaver, Alex Williams and fiance Tiffinii Eberspacher, Lauren and Jake Ganow, Mason Krcmarik. Great grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Kobe, Robbie, Peytin and Colton. Jim is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Dave and Evelyn Krcmarik, Don and Beth Krcmarik and Marge Krcmarik. Many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his daughter, Robyn (Krcmarik) Williams, son-in-law: Randy Chrastil, his parents and many brothers and sisters.
Services will be held on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. in the Wyuka funeral home chapel. Private family visitation only. Interment with military honors will be at Wyuka cemetery.

Janet Williams, age 80 of Lincoln, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 with her family by her side. Born January 17, 1933 in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Kenneth H. and Betty I. (Ostrom) Schriver.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandie and Bob Frank of Lincoln; Son, Shawn Williams of Lincoln; Granddaughters, Carly Frank and Abby Frank. Brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Velma Schriver of Gothenburg; Sisters and brothers-in-law, Arita and Mel Wilson of Loveland, Colorado, Carol and Larry Surber of Lincoln, Vicki and Larry Kinnan of Lincoln. Preceded in death by her husband, Jim R. Williams, parents, Brother, Kay Rodney Schriver, Sister and brother-in-law, Betty Ann and Blunder Thomas.
Services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in Wyuka Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in Maxwell, Nebraska at Fort McPherson National cemetery.
