James A. Hennesy

James Andrew Hennesy, age 81 of Lincoln, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2011 after a lengthy illness with his wife by his side. Jim was born in Bogalusa, LA on July 3, 1929 to Jewel and Lois (Magovik) Hennesy. Jim is survived by his wife Bonnie Hennesy, Sons and Daughters-in-law: James and Sue Hennesy of Ham Lake, MN. John and Kate Hennesy of Keenesburg, CO. Daughters and Son-in-law: Paula and Pat Winegarner of Westminster, CO. Cynthia Matos of Colorado Springs, CO. Step children and spouses: Donald Kramer of Herndon, KY. Susan and Mark Gerkin of Columbus, GA. 16 Grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. Sister-in-law and spouse: Betty and Don Vietz of Lincoln.
Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, All State commander of V.F.W. in Colorado and Minnesota, a member of the United Sheet Metal Workers for 40 years, a member of Calvary Community Church. Bonnie and Jim together, built the home and business of their dreams, Hennesy Country Stables in 1991. Jim was an avid Bronco fan and Cowboy at heart.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Calvary Community Church, 4400 N. 1st, Lincoln at 11:00 A.M.

Edwin Eugene Edwards

Edwin Eugene Edwards age 91 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at his home in Lincoln. He was born on March 23, 1920 in Lincoln to Andrew Wallace and Hazel Marie (Cooper) Edwards. He graduated from Jackson High School and went on to Ohio State University were he earned an Engineering degree. Edwin served in the US Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1953. He married
Joyce Nichols of Denver, Colorado in 1940. To that union were born Sandra, Edwina and Robert. For years Edwin and Joyce operated Joyce and Eddies Cafe in Havelock, then moved to Estes Park, Colorado where they owned and operated the Continental Restaurant and Lounge and other businesses. After Joyces death in 1981 he retired to Lincoln.
In 1988 he married
Mary Catlin in Lincoln, where they continued to live along with son Ron. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Edwin was an avid car enthusiast and a lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of Grace Community Church.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Mary of Lincoln; children, Sandra and Vic Spencer of Loveland, Colorado; Edwina and Jim Young of Lincoln; Robert L. and Mary Edwards of Conroe, Texas; stepchildren, Linda and Norman Clark of Havelock, North Carolina; Rosa and Dan Cumming of Michigan; Ron Catlin of Lincoln; Peggy and Philip Hall of Bakersfield, California; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Laird of Sun City, Florida; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jack, Wesley, Robert LeRoy, sisters, Frances, Hazel, Naomi, his first wife, Joyce. Cremation/no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 9:00 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Thompson officiating. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
Maydene Ruth McCoy

Maydene Ruth McCoy age 82 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the Crete Manor in Crete, Nebraska. She was born on April 11, 1929 in Havelock to James and Clevia (Holland) Stephens. She was retired from the Veterans Hospital after many years in food service. Maydene was a member of the Northeast Missionary Alliance Church.
Maydene is survived by her husband, Murell of Lincoln; son, Monte and Christine McCoy of Eagle, Nebraska; daughter, Marcia McCoy of Lincoln; grandson, Mitchell McCoy stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington; brother, Lester Stephens of Houston, Texas; brother, Paul and Wilma Stephens of Lincoln; sister, Sharon Matlock of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, James and Stephen Rhoades; step-granddaughter, Heather Gustefson; brother, Glenn Stephens.
Cremation/no visitation.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Fairview cemetery with Pastor David Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.

Robert Prater Kelly

Robert Prater Kelly, age 88, beloved brother, husband, and father, proud grandfather and veteran, of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 with family at his side in Lincoln. He was born on December 28, 1922 in Dallas, Texas to Eli Hughes and Adelia Mae (Prater) Kelly. He was raised on a central Texas ranch during the depression and took over the family farm and ranch operation at the age of 14. Robert married
Linda Lou Forson of Valley Mills, Texas on November 28th, 1949. He proudly served in the US Army Air Forces during WWII as a gunnery instructor and flew combat missions in the Pacific Theatre from March 22, 1943 until his honorable discharge on November 23, 1945. Robert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education from Texas A & M University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Management from Colorado State University and was a Graduate Student and Graduate Assistant at Colorado State. He taught high school vocational agriculture in Colorado from 1953 to 1960. He then worked as a wildlife biologist for the U.S. Forest Service in Colorado and Wyoming. Robert then worked as an assistant supervisor for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Indiana and Illinois. Robert retired in 1986, after 28 years of service, as the Nebraska State Supervisor for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Robert was also was active in 4-H, FFA, and was a substitute teacher after retirement. He held lifetime teaching certificates in Texas, Colorado, and Nebraska.
Robert was a lifetime member of the NRA; a member of the Masonic Lodge #53 in Dubois, Wyoming; a 32nd degree mason with the Scottish Rite in Lincoln, and a member of the Sesostris Shrine in Lincoln; his hobbies included raising, training and showing registered Quarter horses, photography, and Jeeping in the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming.
Robert is survived by his wife, Linda of Lincoln; his son, Clay and Denise Kelly of Malcolm, Nebraska; granddaughters, Brittany and Chelsea Kelly; sister, Virginia and Jim Bradish of Covina, California; nephew, Jim Bradish of Diamond Bar, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Susan C. Kelly.
Cremation/no visitation.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Wyuka cemetery.
Burial with Masonic Honors and Military Honors will be in Wyuka cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
Johanna G. Hesser

Johanna Genevieve Hesser age 93 of Firth, Nebraska went to her heavenly home on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Lakeview Care Center in Firth. She was born on April 23, 1918 at Adams, Nebraska to Henry (Hank) and Tina (Terpsma) Hietbrink. She was a wonderful caring woman, a farm wife and homemaker all of her life. She taught her family many great values; to love Jesus, work hard, how to provide for your family through her love of gardening, cooking and baking.
Johanna is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Verl Mulder of Firth; Rowanna and Harlan Essink of Adams; Karen and Ronald Essink of Firth; Beth and Bruce Weber of Lincoln, grandchildren, Dennis and Gina Essink; Larry and Lois Essink; Brenda and Lonnie Jensen; Patty and Mike Peters; Connie and Ted Dlouhy; Rick and Wendy Essink; Rita and Scott Sieck; Matt and Nikki Weber; 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold on January 13, 1994, her sister, Thelma Mae.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Wyuka Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. with family present during this time. Visitation will be held on Monday from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the church.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. at the Pella Reformed Church, Hwy 43 and Pella Rd, Adams, Nebraska with Pastor Marcus Roskamp officiating.
Burial will be in the Pella cemetery.

Kenneth C. Olsen

Kenneth Cornelius Olsen age 92 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Thursday, June 2, 2011 in Lincoln. He was born on August 26, 1918 in Hartington, Nebraska to Cornelius Martin and Lavina (Campbell) Olsen. He graduated from high school and attended the University of Nebraska. On August 27, 1941 Kenneth married
Eleanor F. Murphy at Papillion, Nebraska. He served in the US Army from March 27, 1943 to April 16, 1946. Kenneth served in the Central Europe Campaign and attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. His decorations included the Combat Infantrymans Badge, Bronze Star Medal, EAME Theatre Ribbon, Purple Heart, WW II Victory Medal and American Theatre Ribbon. He also served as an instructor during the Korean War from November 1, 1950 to April 2, 1952. After the war he worked for United States Postal Service as a Personnel Director until he retired. He was a member of the First Plymouth Congregational Church, the Stevens Ministry, the VFW and American Legion.
Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Sandra and Charles Rosecrans of Martell, NE; Marci and Gib Alberti of Lincoln; Barbara and Mike Reid of Fort Worth, Texas; grandsons, David and Jean Rosecrans of Broomfield, CO; Charles Jr. and Tammy Rosecrans of Walton, NE; Matthew and Lori Alberti of Davey, NE; William and Lisa Rosecrans of Omaha; Ryan and Heather Alberti of Lincoln; Chad and Kali Reid of Rolla, ND; Aaron Rosecrans of Martell, NE; Ryan and Johanna Reid of Fort Worth, Texas; 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eleanor, 4 brothers, 6 sisters and a great-grandson, Sammy Aaron Rosecrans.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home with Pastor Barb Smisek officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Wyuka cemetery.

Orval H. Koch
June 1, 2011
Orval Henry Koch, born February 25, 1927 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Gustave and Leona (Neuman) Koch went to be with his Savior on May 31, 2011.
He graduated from Minneapolis Jackson High School, and enlisted in the United States Army, and served his final tour of duty in the Philippines. Following his honorable discharge, he enrolled at the Brown School of Radio in Minneapolis. Upon graduation he moved to Shenandoah, Iowa, to begin his radio career as a disc jockey, newsman, and copywriter at KFNF.
In 1952, he joined the staff of KLMS, in Lincoln, as disc jockey, program director and host of the popular daily noon-hour program Western Serenade. In 1956, he joined KFOR as a disc jockey and copywriter, and later became part of the management team of Stuart Broadcasting Company which owned several radio stations throughout the midwest. He concluded his career as a sales representative for KFOR; retiring in 1996. His love of the radio industry, and his devotion to it never wavered throughout his five decades of dedication and service.
Music, and literature, as well as love of family, and service to his God filled his retirement years with much happiness.
Left to mourn his passing are his Wife, Sandra; sons and daughters-in-law Randal and Nancy Koch of Omaha; Scott and Elaine Koch of Lincoln. Grandchildren Lauren of Omaha and Brandon of Lincoln. Step children Randy McConnell of Lincoln, Denise Buhdorf of Omaha, Pat Roberts of Lincoln, Grandchild: Cassie Roberts of Lincoln. Niece Judy Reinke and Nephews James and Steven Holmberg of Minneapolis. His parents, sister and brother-in-law, Lenora and Howard Holmberg preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be held at Wyuka Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 3, 2011. Private military graveside services will be held at Wyuka cemetery.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to the donors choice.
Dennis E. Buettow
May 24, 2011
Dennis E. Buettow age 84 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in Lincoln. He was born on July 15, 1926 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Louis and Clara (Dietloff) Buettow. During high school Dennis was a member of the Norfolk High School State Champion football team. Dennis served in the US Army during World War II from November 20, 1944 to July 31, 1946. He worked as a plumber for most of his career. He helped with the plumbing during the construction of some of the buildings on the campus of the University of Nebraska. Dennis retired in 1992 and then worked for 12 years at Securitas Security Services, stationed at Farmers Mutual Insurance Company. He was a member of the United Lutheran Church, where he was a past church board member, the American Legion, VFW, Elks, Moose Lodge and the Local Plumbers Union. Dennis enjoyed stopping daily at his favorite establishment, El Matador Lounge.
Dennis is survived by his nephew, Steven Buettow of Aspen, Colorado, his great-niece, Annie Buettow of Aspen, Colorado, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beulah, and a stepson, Milo.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. at Evangelical United Lutheran Church, 5945 Fremont Street, Lincoln.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Evangelical United Lutheran Church, 5945 Fremont Street, Lincoln with Pastor Myron Meyer officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Fairview cemetery.

James S. Draper

James (Jim) Sterling Draper, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died on Thursday, May 19, 2011 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Jim was born on October 25, 1958 in San Francisco and adopted a short time later by Fred and Mollie Draper of Denison Iowa. He moved to Lincoln in 1986 where he began his career in warehouse management, working for Millard Refrigerated Services and most recently for Farmland/Cooks Foods.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and an occasional game of golf. Lake Mac was his favorite spot for fishing, especially chasing walleye. He loved camping in the Otter Creek area while sharing his fishing stories and good food. Turkey, goose and deer hunting were also outdoor hobbies Jim enjoyed. However, deer hunting was the one thing he looked forward to every year. He shared all the outdoor fun with his family and friends, but especially with his wife, Bettie.
Jim is survived by his wife, Bettie of Lincoln; daughters, Nikole Thompson of Lawrence, KS; Shannon and Michael Beltz of Lincoln; sons, Tyson and Ann Draper of Denton, NE; Jeremy Allen of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Kylee, Katy, Zane, Kiara, Taylor, Alexandra, Kaiden; special parents, Don and Betty Eggers of Denison, IA; brothers, Jay Eggers of Denison, IA; Jeffrey Eggers of Milford, IA; sister, Jan Eggers of Denison, IA; best friends, Steve and Dyanne Yentes of Sheridan, WY; Larry and Julie Thompson of Denison, IA; brothers & sisters in law, Al and Carol Channel of Alliance, NE; Bill and Fern Channel, Hastings, NE; Mary Jane and Ivan Burgan, Lincoln, NE; Pat Channel, Portland, OR; many nieces & nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mollie Draper, grandchildren, Madalyn Marie Draper and Dominick James Draper.
