Sharon "Bom-Mom" Bowlus

On January 20, 2004, Sharon L. Bowlus, 60, Dilworth, MN, returned to the care of her Heavenly family.

Shari was born March 2, 1943, in Moorhead, MN, to Edward F. and Edna (Melsness) McGough. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1961. After graduation, she moved to St. Paul, MN, where she was employed by Piggly Wiggly. In 1963 she moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she worked for First Security National Bank.

On September 5, 1964, she married Byron Carl Bowlus, in Inglewood, CA. That same year they moved to Minnesota where they made their home in Dilworth.

In 1967 Shari worked at the Clay County State Bank in Dilworth. She retired from the bank in 1977 and began working out of her home doing bookwork and taxes for family and small businesses.

In 1998 she began working as an accountant at Bargains Galore, Dilworth, where she continued to work until the time of her illness.

Shari is survived by her son, Troy (Rhonda), Moorhead; two granddaughters, Tara and Brittiany, Dilworth, who were the light, the breath and the joy of her life. Every gift she gave you was well thought out. It has a special meaning or it was meant to create a memory that would be handed down for generations. Her every thought and every action came directly from the heart. She looked for only the good in everyone and she always found it.

For the last three months, Shari was surrounded by family and friends who witnessed her valiant fight to overcome pneumonia. For one so small in stature, she fought aggressively, but that was no surprise to all who knew her because she was "The Rock" and was always strong in spirit and faith. It is that faith and our love that will light her path back to you, Lord. It is with heavy hearts but with great pride that we return her to Your care. Hug her tightly and let her know that it was a job well done.

Visitation for Shari will be Friday, January 23, 2004, from 5-8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, January 24, 2004, at 11 AM in the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery, Moorhead.
