Dennis Pieske
Dennis Dale Pieske, age 50, of Gardner, ND, died Friday, May 25, 2001.
Dennis was born November 5, 1950 at Jamestown, ND the son of Olga (Liberda) and Arnold Pieske. He grew up and graduated from Woodworth, ND high school in 1968.
He attended college at MSU. He worked for NDSU from 1972 to 1982 in the Horticulture Department. In 1982 he started and owned Gardner Insurance Agency in Gardner, ND and worked at this until his death. On December 23, 1987 he married
Connie Marie Stahl in Fargo, ND. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved his time he spent at the lake.
Preceding Dennis in death are his mother, Olga, and his two brothers, Leroy and Donald.
He is survived by his wife, Connie and his daughter, Lynsie Marie of Gardner, ND; his brothers and sisters, Richard (Marlys) Pieske, Jamestown, ND, Gary (Connie) Pieske, Detroit Lakes, MN, Cheryl (Don) Meier, Bismarck, ND, and Linda (James) Kuhn, Bismarck, ND; sister-in-law, Marlene Pieske, Jamestown, ND; and his nieces and nephews.
Services for Dennis will be held on Tuesday, May 29 at 2 PM in Peace Lutheran Church, Fargo, with a visitation for friends and family one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be in Gardner cemetery, Gardner, ND.
Anna Pomeroy
Anna Mae Pomeroy, 91, of Dell Rapids, SD, died Saturday, December 29, 2001, at Terrance Manor, Dell Rapids, SD.
Anna was born October 8, 1910, on the family farm near Oriska, ND. At age 8 she moved with her family to Valley City, ND. She graduated from Valley City Normal School. Anna taught in rural schools near Valley City, ND until 1934. On July 14, 1934 Anna married
John Robert Pomeroy in Fargo, ND. She lived in Fargo until moving to Watertown, SD in 1994. In 1999 Anna moved to Dell Rapids, SD.
She is preceded in death by her husband in 1973.
She is survived by one son, Rev. James (Mavis) Pomeroy of Dell Rapids, SD; one daughter, Mary Ann Hagen of Seattle, WA; 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral: Wednesday, 2 PM at First United Methodist Church, Fargo.
Visitation: Tuesday, 5-7 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo.
Burial: Riverside cemetery, Fargo, ND.
Alfred Elton England
Alfred Elton England, 82, of Moorhead died Saturday, June 15, 2002 at his home.
Alfred England was born on May 5, 1920 in Wahpeton, ND, the son of Jens and Mary (Engebretson) England. He moved to Dallas, Wisconsin and lived there until he entered the Air Force in 1942. He served four years as a glider mechanic at Sheppard Field, Wichita Falls, Texas. In 1946, he moved to North Dakota. On November 12, 1947, he married
Florence Zimmerman in Kent, Minnesota. He then worked as a mechanic at Muscatell Chevrolet until his retirement in 1978. He and his wife, Florence, then resided at their home in Moorhead.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Jens and Mary England; three brothers, Ludvig, Edwin, and Olaf; and a sister, Julia.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 54 years, Florence; two brothers, Oscar England of Page, ND and Harold England of Rockford, MN; one sister, Alma Nelson of Chetek, WI; a special niece and nephew, Bruce and Susan of Tucson, AZ; and many other nieces and nephews.

Alvin Geist
Alvin Geist, 69, of West Fargo, died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo.
Alvin, son of Henry and Pauline (Kirschenman) Geist, was born on May 1, 1933 in Napoleon, ND. He attended school in Tapppen and Pettybone, ND. After his school years, he worked at the Sunshine Cattle Ranch. He later worked at a cattle ranch in Steele, ND. He moved to Fargo with his parents in 1956 where he worked for the city. On June 9, 1957, Alvin married
Adeline Deutscher in Gackle, ND. He and Adeline then moved to Jamestown, ND. He worked there for Lindberg Builders, working on the Buffalo. He later moved back to Fargo and worked for Branicks Industrial for six years. Alvin then worked for Robert Cooke in Woodworth, ND. Two years later, he and Adeline moved to West Fargo where he returned to Branicks Industrial until his retirement in 1995.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Adeline Geist; one daughter, Ann (Dave) Johnson of Fargo, ND; three sons, Alan (Brenda) of West Fargo, Arlyn of Shreveport, LA, and Aaron (Belinda) of Fargo, ND; four sisters, Delores (Daryl) Stroh of Denver, CO, Betty (Ralph) Schatz of Gardenia CA, Shirly (Ron) Phillips of Abilene, TX, and Rose Nelson of Fargo, ND; one brother, Kenneth (Linda) Geist of Moorhead, MN; two granddaughters; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
Alvin was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Pauline Geist; two brothers, Merlyn and Donald Geist; and one sister, Lorraine Nies.

Cordelia Goss
Cordelia J. Goss, 89, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at Bethany Homes in Fargo.
Cordelia J. Wollan was born May 25, 1912, in Colfax, ND, the daughter of Anfin and Oline (Sneen) Wollan. She was educated in Colfax, ND. Cordelia moved to Hunter, ND where she met and married
her husband Walter Goss. Together they owned Hunter Telephone Company. They also owned and operated Goss Electric Company in Hunter, ND. In 1966 they moved to Fargo where Cordelia was employed by Woodman Accident and Life. She entered Bethany Homes in 1989.
She is preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by two sons, Frank Goss of Lakewood, CO, Jon Goss, of Fosston ,MN; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 18, at 2 PM at Mavis Whiting Chapel, Bethany Homes, Fargo.
Visitation: One hour before the service at Mavis Whiting Chapel.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
Dalores Granberg
Dalores Granberg, age 83, Fargo died Sunday, February 24, 2002 in MeritCare Hospital.
Dalores Habeck was born October 27, 1918 in Ada. MN where she grew up and attended school. She married
Carl Granberg on November 9, 1939 in Ada. He died in 1993. She worked at the Wimmer Nursing Home in Ada for many years. In 1981, they moved to Fargo.
She is survived by four sons, Carlen "Bud", Watertown, SD, Randy, Mark (Nancy), both Fargo, and Steve "Booey" (Linda), Moorhead; one daughter, Cathy (Tim) Cusey, Fargo; one brother, George (Jesse) and one sister, Valoris, both Ada, fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 in the Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home with visitation one hour before the funeral. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
Charles Gruenberg
Charles (Chuck) E. Gruenberg, Sr., age 77, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, March 13, in his home after a lengthy illness.
Charles was born on March 12, 1925 in Bismarck, ND the son of William and Violet (Jenks) Gruenberg. Chuck grew up and attended country school near Underwood, ND.
Chuck entered the Army Signal Corp in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1947. On January 31, 1948 Chuck married
Helen Elizabeth Leib in Bismarck, ND. After the Army he worked in construction as a lather. In 1956 Chuck started his own business G.M. Lathing Contractors, Inc. working until with his company until he retired in 2000.
Chuck’s parents; a daughter, Claudette; an infant sister; two brothers, Ernie and George Gruenberg; and three sisters, Lorraine Granlie, Eldora Patterson, and Delores Gruenberg precede him in death.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen, Fargo, ND; one son, Charles, Jr., Fargo, ND; two daughters, Donna (Donald) Quittschreiber, Fargo, ND, and Judy (Mark Brandt) Gruenberg; three brothers, Jim (Peggy), Fargo, ND, Fred (Terry), Minot, ND, and Ed, Bismarck, ND; five sisters, Elaine Reuter, Minneapolis, MN, Bev (Leland) Fetzer, Wilton, ND, Charlotte (Jim) Anderson, Bismarck, ND, Edna (Charles) Butz, McKenzie, ND, and Mary Kline, Bismarck, ND; four grandchildren, David (Kelly) Quittschreiber, Trever (Teena) Quittschreiber, Hannah Gruenberg, Kaitlyn Fife; and four great-grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, KayLee, and Amber Quittschreiber.
Funeral services for Charles (Chuck) E. Gruenberg will be held on Monday, March 18th, at 2 PM in Olivet Lutheran Church. A visitation for Chuck will be held on Sunday, March 17, from 4 to 6 PM with a prayer service at 6 PM in Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. Internment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
Edna Hagge
Edna G. Hagge, 88, a long-time resident of Fargo, died in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on June 22, 2002.
Edna was born on a farm in Foster County, ND and moved to Fargo in the late 1930s. She was the daughter of Glenn R. and Maye I. Sutherland. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Arline Anthony and Lurline Berg, and, in 1990, by her husband, Chester. She is survived by her two sons, Gary A. and Terry R.; daughters-in-law, Judith and Paulette; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2002, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, 215 South 7th Street, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29th at the First Baptist Church, 1501 South 17th Avenue.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice or a charity of choice.
Clayton A. Hanson
Clayton A. Hanson, 76, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, July 11, 2002 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo.
Clayton was born on March 30, 1926 in Moorhead, MN, the son of Hans & Gertrude (Stensgard) Hanson. He attended schools in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School. In 1943 he joined the Navy, serving as a Fireman First Class on the USS Pennsylvania in the Pacific. Clayton was honorably discharged in 1946. On September 20, 1947 Clayton married
Elaine Mergner in Fargo, ND. He was employed by Fairway Foods, retiring after 38 years of service.
Clayton was an active member of the VFW and Eagles. He enjoyed walking, fishing, and going to the lake and the farm.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; 3 sons, Ronald (Janet) of Littleton, CO, Randal and Robert of Fargo; 3 daughters, Nancy (Wayne) Rood of West Fargo, Diane (Steven) Twete of Pekin, ND, and Karen (Robert) Payden of Tulsa, OK; 4 sisters, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Edith Mae Hanson
Edith Mae Hanson, 91, Fargo, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND.
Edith Mae Miller was born on May 19, 1910 at Hurdsfield, ND. She moved to Fargo with her family in 1918. She attended schools in Fargo, graduating from Central High School. She worked at Herbst Department Store until getting married
. She was united in marriage with Robert M. Hanson on June 4, 1936 at Hurdsfield. Her husband, Robert, died on December 23, 1971 in Minneapolis, MN. Edith volunteered at St. John’s Hospital and then later Dakota Hospital, donating thousands of hours of her time. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Fargo.
Survivors include: Her son, Robert E. Hanson of Edinburg, Texas; Two Grandsons, Richard Hanson of Marysville, WA & Curtis Hanson of Camillus, NY; A Sister, Pearl Lunde of Seal Beach, CA; and Seven Great Grandchildren.
