Annabel Broeckel
Annabel "Ann" Broeckel, 84, Bismarck, died October 3, 2003, at a Bismarck hospital after a short illness.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Bismarck with the Rev. Kermit Culver officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 - 5 PM at Boelter-Eastgate Funeral Service, 200 W. Turnpike Ave., Bismarck.
Ann was born on February 23, 1919, in Underwood, North Dakota, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Keel) Fischer. She was raised in Turtle Lake, North Dakota, where she attended schools. Ann married
Herbert Broeckel on February 28, 1937, at Turtle Lake. Together they worked and raised their family in Mandan-Bismarck.
She enjoyed a special, loving relationship with her husband, Herb, her children, and her grandchildren. Herb preceded Ann in death in 1981. Ann devoted the rest of her life as the true, loving leader and provider of wisdom for her family.
Ann's professional career was with J.C. Penney in Bismarck, retiring as Personnel Manager in 1972.
She is survived by her four children, Gene (Ann) Broeckel of Chico, California, Dick (Jan) of Broeckel of Phoenix, Arizona, Cheryl (Roy) Doerr of Minot, North Dakota, and Joan (Terry) Brosseau of Bismarck; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Vi (Lloyd) Houstman of Bismarck, Joyce Hieb of Bismarck, June Thorson of Gainsville, Virginia, and Jean (Dale) Coleman of Baldwin; and one brother, Frank (Marvel) Fischer of Jamestown.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband, Herb.
Joan Hasche
Joan Hasche, 87, Bismarck, passed away on October 3, 2003, at a Bismarck care center.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:00 PM at McCabe United Methodist Church in Bismarck with the Rev. Art Scanson officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 - 7 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service and will continue Tuesday on hour prior to the service at the church.
Joan Creswell was born on June 23, 1916, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Chester and Florence (McIntyre) Creswell. She attended schools in Minneapolis and graduated from West High School. She worked for many years at Powers Department Store, eventually becoming buyer for Better Dresses. She also studied at the University of Minnesota.
On October 1, 1944, Joan married
Howard Hasche in Minneapolis. Following Howard's discharge from the Army in 1946, the couple moved to Glendive, Montana, where they resided until they moved to Bismarck in 1970.
Joan was a member of McCabe United Methodist Church, Mt. Republic Chapel in Silver Gate, Montana, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was active in church groups, served as Sunday School teacher, was a youth group leader, and was a Girl Scout leader. Joan was an avid bridge player and devoted considerable time to creating handicrafts for the church's bazaars. Joan loved the cabin that she and Howard built in Silver Gate, Montana, especially enjoying all the wildlife in the area.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Joan and Alvin Trafton of Manhattan Beach, California; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Kitty Hasche of Aurora, Colorado; and her cherished granddaughter, Sarah Trafton, also of Manhattan Beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to McCabe United Methodist Church, Intermountain Children's Home in Helena, Montana, or charity of donor's choice.
Marlys Dotseth
Marlys Dotseth, 78, Bismarck died October 2, 2003 in a local hospital. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Laurie Natwick officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Marlys was born January 25, 1925 in Canby, Minnesota, the daughter of Milo and Nellie (Skjonsby) Foss. She was raised and educated in Canby and Granite Falls, graduating from Granite Falls High School in 1943. Marlys and Warren Dotseth were married
May 28, 1944 in Granite Falls. They resided in Minneapolis, Billings, and Williston before moving to Bismarck in 1965.
Marlys was an active member of P.E.O. Chapter AJ and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Marlys is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Terry Kristensen of Bismarck; her son Steven Dotseth of Bismarck; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Muriel Schoen of Bella Vista, AK and Shirley and Dominick Messano of Marco Island, FL; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Roger and Evelyn Foss of Everglades City, FL and Keith and Jacqueline Foss of North Richland Hills, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Warren, and her son Mark.
LaVonne Schumaker
LaVonne Sharon D'Ora Schumaker, 72, died September 29, 2003 in a local hospital.
Services will be held at 11 AM Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas R. Marcis officiating. Burial will be in the Driscoll Township cemetery, Driscoll, at 1:45 PM Friday.
Visitation will be 12 Noon to 9 PM Thursday at Boelter-Eastgate Funeral Service, 200 W. Turnpike Ave., Bismarck, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
LaVonne Bruschwein was born September 19, 1931 in Bismarck, the daughter of August and Sarah (Wiens) Bruschwein. She was raised and educated in Driscoll, where she graduated from high school. She attended NDAC College (NDSU) in Fargo, graduating in 1952. LaVonne married
Reuben Schumaker on June 22, 1952 in Driscoll. They lived on a farm near Driscoll and she taught school for 29 years collectively in Taylor, Tappen, and Driscoll, retiring in the spring of 2001. LaVonne enjoyed playing the organ at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Driscoll, crocheting, sewing, ceramics, and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, Driscoll Homemakers Club, and Kappa Delta Chapter.
LaVonne is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Noell & Mike Just, Hazen, ND, Karen and Rodney Armstrong, Rolette, ND, Colleen and Mark Rodacker, Dickinson, ND, and Tami and Mark Naaden, Braddock, ND; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Mark and Laurie (Woods) Schumaker, Minot, ND, Clayton and Julie (Andersen) Schumaker, Bruce and Lynette (Rodacker) Schumaker, and Doug Schumaker, all of Bismarck, ND; 19 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two sisters, Hildreth Grimes, Great Falls, MT and Dolores Rosin, Driscoll, ND; and one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Natalie Bruschwein, Wapheton, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben; her parents, August and Sarah Bruschwein; her sister, Hazel Trautman; one niece, Deanna Grimes; and one great niece, Becky Thompson.
Elsie McLean
Elsie N. McLean, 86, Bismarck, died September 25, 2003 in a local hospital.
Services will be held at 10 AM Monday at 103 Shady Acres, Mandan, ND (head west on the street in front of Bonanza, take right on Shady Acres and proceed past two houses, it is a large building on the west side of the street), with ministers Shelley Vigesaa, Joyce Naber, Dale Spencer, and Ken Pinney officiating. Burial will be in the Menoken cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-8 PM Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.
Elsie Nicoline (House) McLean was born November 20, 1916 in Blackwater Township west of Garrison, ND, the daughter of Lewis Cyrus and Nicoline (Solberg) House. She attended country schools in rural Blackwater Township. When Elsie was growing up her family had the Emmet, ND Post Office in their home, where their mother was the Postmaster. Elsie graduated from Garrison High School in 1932 and moved to Bismarck with her mother. She graduated from Capital Commercial College and worked for an attorney and at the Bismarck Hospital. Elsie married
H. Lloyd McLean on June 27, 1936 and they lived on a farm at rural Menoken until 1982. Elsie served as bookkeeper for the McLean Well Drilling Company, owned and operated by her husband Lloyd and brother-in-law, Donald McLean until the late 1960's. Elsie worked as a secretary briefly for an Insurance Company in 1963, and worked as a secretary for the Public Service Commission from 1963 until 1983, when she retired. Elsie bought a home and moved it to a daughter and son-in-law's farm (Barb and Gordie) at rural McKenzie. She lived there until September of 1997, when she moved her home back to Menoken to live on the farm with daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Jerry. Elsie moved to the Terrace in Bismarck on July 30, 2003. Lloyd and Elsie had twelve children and she loved to be surrounded by her family and friends and adored her grandchildren.
Elsie is survived by twelve children and eight sons and daughters-in-law, Laurel (McLean) Larsen, Grand Island, NE, Clyde McLean, Apache Junction, AZ, Dennis and Judy McLean, Amarillo, TX, Kathleen and Jerry Schmitcke, Menoken, ND, Judith (McLean) Martzolf, Maricopa, AZ, Barbara and Gordon Knutson, McKenzie, ND, Jon and Eileen McLean, Longmont, CO, Myra and Doug Vik, Apache Junction, AZ, Carol and Billy Fielhaber, Minot, ND, Robb and Angela McLean, Aurora, NE, Lyndon and Carol McLean, McKenzie, ND, and Loren McLean, Bismarck, ND; twenty grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; nephews, Bradley McLean, Menoken, ND, Sandy McLean, Bismarck, ND, and the late, Lyle McLean, children of her heart; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Ruth House, Scottsdale, AZ; two sisters-in-law, Marie House, Albuquerque, NM and Catherine (McLean) Swanson, Yakima, WA; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Lloyd McLean; her mother and father, Nicoline (Solberg) and Lewis House; one brother, Elon House; two sisters, Carol Haas and Marjorie Knispel; and one son-in-law, Will Larsen.
Mabel Klein
Mabel Klein, 85, Grayson, KY, formerly of Baldwin, gently went to her heavenly home Wednesday, September 24, 2003. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas R. Marcis, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 PM Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mabel was born April 15, 1918 in Wilton, ND, the daughter of John and Rose Baumiller. She was raised and educated in the Wilton area. On September 16, 1936 she married
Carl Klein, Sr. in Bismarck. They lived in the Wilton/Baldwin area until 1997. Following her husband's death, Mabel relocated to Grayson, Kentucky to live with her daughter. Mabel suffered from a crippling farming accident in 1969, which limited her mobility, but never her heart. Mabel is now free and with her beloved husband, Carl, Sr.
She loved her family, her friends and even the hard times on the farm. She enjoyed word search puzzle books, TV games shows, and most of all reading the Bible and praying to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Mabel is survived by her daughter, Donna Keller of Grayson, KY; four sons, Carl, Jr., Donald, and Jerome all of Bismarck, and Theodore Klein of Tacoma, WA; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four sisters Hilda, Aldena, Rose and Shirley; one brother, Donald.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, Sr., son-in-law, George Keller, great-granddaughter, Maddison Rayne McGlone, three sisters Betty, Ester, and Viola, and three brothers, Pete, Lawrence, and Clarence.
Clois Hetletved
Clois L. Hetletved, 80, Robinson, ND died September 22, 2003 at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Robinson, with the Rev. Jo Pfennig officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Lutheran cemetery, Robinson.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 9:00 PM Thursday at Eastgate Memorial Chapel, Steele, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Clois was born August 25, 1923 in Robinson, ND, the son of Gus and Violet(Blake)Hetletved, the second child of a family of three sons and four daughters. He was raised and attended school in rural Robinson. On June 8, 1944 he married
Judith Johnson in Steele, ND. In November of that year, Clois was inducted into the U.S. Army. He served in the South Pacific on Leyte and Mindanao Islands. After peace was declared he transferred to Army/Air Corps Supply. He was discharged in August 1946. In the spring of 1947 they bought the Friestad farm northeast of Tuttle and began a lifetime of farming. They lived there until 1956 when they bought a farm in Merkel Township and lived there until they retired.
Clois served as a County Commissioner for two terms and was on the Social Service Board. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Robinson, the American Legion, V.F.W. and Eagles Club. Clois was a charter member of the Robinson Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Clois is survived by his wife, Judith of Robinson; his daughters, Charlene and her husband, John Falk of Arizona and Geniel and her husband, Dale Schell, Jr. of Washburn; his son, Clois, Jr. and his wife, Helen (Sathre) of Grand Forks; seven grandchildren, Jason Falk, Lisa (Jerry) Baxter, Dustin (Bethany) Hetletved, Lee Hetletved, Samantha, Zachary, and Mandy Schell; four great-grandchildren, Joshua Baxter, Chandler Smith, Morgan and Jane Hetletved; his brothers, Lyle Hetletved of Robinson and Dale (Lucille) Hetletved of Bismarck; his sisters, Adelaide (Edwin) Johnson of Tuttle, Luella Wick Semmons of Woodworth, Vivian Hirchert of Titusville, FL, and Arletta (Loren) Hanson of Minot.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Violet Hetletved.
Rev. Alfred Bibelheimer
The Reverend Alfred W. Bibelheimer, 97, died on September 16, 2003 in Drake, North Dakota. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, at Century Baptist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Gordon Stork and Rev. Steve Wistoff officiating. Burial will be in the Drake cemetery, Drake, ND.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide Avenue, Bismarck and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Alfred was born on July 11, 1906 in Underwood, ND to Henry F. and Mathilda (Klinger) Bibelheimer. He grew up on a farm 5 miles west of Braddock, ND. He completed his preparation for the ministry at the German Department of Eastman/Colgate Rochester Seminary in Rochester, NY in 1933. He married
Linda Tiede on April 15, 1934 in Southey, Sask, Canada, and three children were born to this union: Henry, Dorothy, and John.
He pastored churches in Southey, Sask, Rosenfeld, ND, Anamoose, ND, Drake, ND, Turtle Lake, ND, Ashley, ND, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Bottineau, ND. He served as chaplain of the Baptist Home in Bismarck, ND. He held various positions of leadership in both the American Baptist and North American Baptist denominations.
He was instrumental in the founding and development of Camp Bentley, an American Baptist summer camp, just west of Drake, ND (1947-1951).
He is survived by his children, Henry of Drake, Dorothy McGrath of Valencia, CA, and John of Drake and their spouses; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
