Donna M. Fries

Donna Margaret Fries, 48, of Mott, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 20th,2012 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN with family by her side.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 am MT Monday April 23rd at St Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott with Father Charles Zins as the celebrant and Deacon Ervin Schneider.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 22nd from 4:00 ' 7:00 PM at St. Vincent's Church, followed by rosary and prayer service at 7:00 PM.
Donna, the oldest of four girls, was born on June 11th, 1963 to Don and Marge Fries in the Elgin hospital.
Donna attended elementary school at St. Vincent's Catholic School in Mott, and graduated in 1981 from Mott Lincoln High School.
After graduation from high school, she attended Dickinson State University and earned a double major in Kindergarten and Early Elementary Education.
She began working at Headstart in Mott, and moved to teaching Kindergarten while working on her master's degree in Early Childhood Special Needs from Minot State University.
Most recently she was working at Huntington Learning Center in Stillwater, MN as a one-to-one tutor for elementary children.
Donna was loved by all her students and their parents, and remarked many times to people, 'I've always loved being a teacher, as I enjoy my students as much as they enjoy me.'
Donna especially excelled in areas of tutoring special-needs children.
Donna had strong courage to accept whatever God had in store for her with grace. She lived her life to the fullest.
Donna was a kind-hearted, generous person who selflessly gave of her time and friendship to all.
Donna will be missed by many. She will live on in all the wonderful memories left with all that were fortunate to know her.
She is survived by her mother, Marge, sisters, Diane (Kent) Mortenson of Dickinson, ND, Deb (David) Bohn of Mott, and Donelle (Jason) Mogard of Deering, ND, her nieces and nephews who Donna loved as her own, Godson Michael, Kendra and Brett Mortenson, Joseph Bohn, Ashley, Lindsey and Goddaughter Katie Mogard, cousin Linda Huether, and her extended MN Family.
She is preceded in death by father, Don, grandparents Earl and Marie Schmitz, Jacob and Katie Fries, two infant brothers, nephew Wade, Mary Petra, and other angelic family.
Dylan James Jahner

Mass of Christian Burial for Dylan James Jahner, age 10, of Hettinger, ND will be Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Roberts-Reinke Auditorium at the Hettinger High School.
Fr. Stephen Folorunso will officiate and burial will follow at the Hettinger cemetery.
Visitations will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hettinger and one hour prior to the Mass at the School Auditorum on Thursday morning.
Rosary/Vigil service will be held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Our hero, Dylan James Jahner, was born March 17, 2003 in Hettinger ND, to Rich and Jennifer (Molbert) Jahner.
He was known by many nicknames, including Dillard, Bubba and Dillweed.
He attended Hettinger Public School and had just completed the third grade and was looking forward to "moving upstairs" to the fourth grade.
Dylan loved sports, was a talented wrestler and earned the title of State Champion in 2012.
He begged his dad to coach football when he was old enough to play, and rarely missed a Chicago Bears game.
Dylan loved being outside, riding bike with his brother Braden, playing in the yard, fishing or hunting with his family, or spending time at the lake.
He loved teasing his Dad and anyone else he fished with about always catching the most fish.
Dylan was never in a hurry, always taking his time to make sure everything he did was just right.
He loved spending time with his family, and always looked for hugs.
He liked to make his family and friends smile with his silly antics like the Mr. Bean dance and his Allelluiah song.
Dylan loved to help others. If there was a home improvement project to be done, Dylan was eager to learn, and eager to make sure Dad knew if Mom was using his tools.
His love of helping will live on for years to come in the gift of life he gave to so many others through organ donation.
Dylan's smile, the glimmer in his sky blue eyes, and his willingness to be the first to say "I love you" when tucked in at night will be just a few of the things his family will miss.
Dylan, 10 year old Friend, Brother and Hero Son, answered God's call to save others after a tragic accident in Hettinger, ND on June 12, 2013.
Dylan's gifts of life through organ donation forever enable his spirit to live on and help the lives of many others.
He will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dylan was preceded in death by his Grandpa, Rodney Molbert and his Great Grandparents, Bob Kowis, Nick Reis and Roy and Bernice Jahner.

Ernest "Ernie" Frank

Mass of Christian Burial for Ernest "Ernie" Frank, 70, of Bowman, ND, formerly of Hettinger, ND will be Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New England, ND.
Fr. Biju Chitteth will officiate and burial will follow at the St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in New England.
Readers will be Brandon Frank and Peyton Frank.
Serving as Casketbearers will be Shawn Frank, Jeff Frank, Jared Frank, Mark Frank, Brandon Frank and Bryant Frank.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Alexis Frank, Brittany Frank, Peyton Frank and Delaney Frank.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 29 at the Centennial Chapel (formerly the First Congregational Church) in Hettinger, ND and one hour prior to the Funeral on Tuesday morning in New England.
Ernest "Ernie" George Frank, was born April 23, 1943 in Dickinson, North Dakota, the fourth of seven children born to Frank S. and Rose (Hagel) Frank.
He grew up on a farm outside New England, North Dakota and graduated from New England Saint Mary's High School in 1961.
In 1963, Ernie met Judy Baker of Hettinger, North Dakota at a dance in nearby Gascoyne, North Dakota.
They were married
on November 28, 1964 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hettinger where they started their family.
They were blessed with four sons, Rick, Terry, Larry, and Steve and one daughter Tammi.
Ernie worked as an automotive mechanic for West River Motors for many years and later owned and operated a local service and gas station.
In 1984 he moved to Bowman, ND where he was employed as a mechanic and tire specialist at Northwest Tire until his retirement.
He kept busy during his retirement years working for the City of Bowman over the spring and summer months until his passing.
Ernie enjoyed family fishing trips, demolition derbies, playing cards and watching football and basketball.
Despite continual harassment from his children, he remained an avid Denver Broncos fan.
He was most proud of his children and grandchildren and cherished watching them compete in their many sporting events.
Even though he was a man of few words, he summarized his life best in his final words, "I am a very lucky man to have you great kids."
He passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger.
He is survived by brothers Edward (Marge) Frank of Lincoln, ND, Willie Frank of Hettinger, ND, David Frank of New England, ND, and Aaron Frank of Dickinson, ND; sister Josephine Wosepka of Vancouver, WA; sons, Rick (Melody) Frank of Frederick, CO, Terry (Stacey) Frank of Greeley, CO, Larry (Lynette) Frank of Frederick, CO, Steve (Gena) Frank of Aurora, CO, and daughter Tammi (Mike) Stevens of Aurora, CO; grandchildren Brandon, Bryant, Alexis, Brittany, Peyton and Delaney Frank all of Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Albert Frank.
Esther V. Haase

Esther Haase passed away early Tuesday morning, April 17, 2012 at the Jacobson Memorial Care Center in Elgin.
The Funeral Service for Esther V. Haase, age 81 of New Leipzig will be held at 10:00am MT, Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the old Christus Congregational Church in New Leipzig.
Pastor John Amundson will officiate with burial in the Christus Congregational cemetery west of New Leipzig.
Special music will be provided by Marcy Haase.
Serving as casketbearers are Grant Daniels, Alan Herner, Clay Daniels, Justin Herner, Jerry Imhoff, Darren Benneweis, and Chad Christianson.
Special Honorary Casketbearers are Stacey Daniels, and Shantel Herner and all of Esther's relatives and friends as honorary casketbearers.
A memorial has been established.
ESTHER V. IMHOFF was born September 9, 1930 on a farm north of Burt, ND in Solen Township, the daughter of Jacob and Christina (Iszler) Imhoff.
She attended a rural school through the eighth grade.
Esther was united in marriage to Ervin Haase on October 28, 1951.
They moved to Hazelton, ND. Later they returned to the New Leipzig area where they raised livestock and farmed together until Ervin's death in February of 1998.
Esther continued to live on the farm raising chickens, gardening, walking with her dog and cat, baking Christmas cookies, and making special homemade chocolate cakes with homemade chocolate frosting for their birthdays, and also everyone's favorite German dishes, and keeping her yard nice and neat.
She enjoyed collecting chickens and roosters and shopping with her girls.
She also enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's activities and spoiling them.
Other hobbies included making quilts and crocheting afghan's.
After being unable to stay at the farm due to her health, she enjoyed embroidering, watching the birds and squirrels, and treating and spoiling cuddles and ziggy.
Surviving family members include her 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl and Grant Daniels, New Leipzig, ND; Sharon and Alan Herner, Mott, ND; 4 grandchildren, Clay and special friend, Jess; Stacey and special friend Zach, and Justin and Shantel, 1 brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Adeline Imhoff, Bismarck, ND; 2 sisters and 1 brother-in-law, Elsie Ganthner, Mesa, AZ; and Lorine and Don Okken, New Leipzig, ND; and on Ervin's side of the family, 2 sisters-in-law and 1 brother-in-law, Thelma Palmberg, Velva, ND; and Alta Faye and Herb Benneweis, Cavalier, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ervin; 6 brothers, Emil, twins Johnny and Albert in infancy, Johnie, Christ, and Otto; and 2 sisters, Lydia Reich and Emma Lillethun.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 5:00pm on Friday at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin and on Saturday one hour prior to services at the church in New Leipzig.
Fred Liedtke

Fred Liedtke, age 58, of Elgin, ND, passed away on Friday evening, May 31, 2013 at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital in Elgin, ND.
Private family services were held.
Fred is survived by his two sisters, Joyce Liedtke, Lemmon, SD and Robert (Steve) Palaniuk, Williston, ND; one niece; and one great-nephew.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred W. Liedtke Jr. and Amelia (Spah) Liedtke.
Helen Lewis
November 14, 1932 - January 11, 2013
Hettinger, North Dakota
The funeral service for Helen will be held at 10:30 a.m. (MST), Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Hettinger.
Pastor Paul Lint will officiate with burial in the Hettinger cemetery.
Special music will be provided by Betty Svihovec, organist, and Ada Jean Cornella, pianist; with vocalists Jim Lewis, The Borderline Singers, and Bekki Holzkamm.
Serving as casket bearers are Tom Braaten, Rick Holzkamm, Dennis Knutson, Keith Kvanvig, Stan Laufer, Allan LeFebre, and Arlo Nash.
All special friends and neighbors are considered honorary bearers.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. (MST) to the time of the service for family and friends at 7:30 p.m. at the Centennial Chapel in Hettinger.
Helen Marie Sather was born November 14, 1932, in Adams County, ND, to Oscar and Ruth (Braaten) Sather.
She grew up north of Hettinger in Argonne Township and attended country grade school and graduated from Hettinger High School in 1950.
She was in the choir and a member of the National Honor Society.
She worked as a clerk in the Red Owl Store in Hettinger.
Helen was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Lewis on June 2, 1952, at Miles City, MT.
They lived on the Lewis Ranch in Perkins County, SD, in the Ellingson community where Bob and Helen ranched and farmed together.
Three children--Mark, Constance, and James--were born to this union.
The Lewis's lived on the ranch until 2001 when they retired and moved into Hettinger.
Following their retirement, they enjoyed traveling.
They traveled to Norway, England, France, Sweden, Mexico, and Canada and Hawaii and many other states, spending seven winter months in Winterhaven, CA.
When Helen's health began to fail, she was able to continue to live in her own home with the support and care of her loving husband, family, and nurses, caregivers, and doctors--especially Dr. Kent Hoerauf, who faithfully provided his support and care for many years.
Staying only a day at Western Horizons Care Center, Helen peacefully passed away on Friday, January 11, 2012, at the age of 80 years, 1 month, 27 days.
Helen was Horse Creek Township clerk, an officer in the Bethany EUB Church and the United Methodist Church, a member and officer in the West River Health Services Auxiliary and the Jolly Jills Homemakers Club, a member of election boards, and a volunteer at the Clothes Closet.
She taught Sunday School and Bible School and was a Bible study leader.
She and Bob supported various local community projects, including West River Health Services, Western Horizons Living Center, the Adams County Fair, 4 H, the Dakota Museum, the American Red Cross, and the Anne Carlsen Children's Center.
Helen supported many missions through the church.
She was an avid reader and an excellent cook and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and quilting.
She quilted baby blankets for family and friends, and also blankets that were sold by the hospital auxiliary.
Her blankets covered most of the babies in the four-state area and beyond.
She made afghans for the graduates and needlework presents for wedding gifts.
She was an active ranch wife--helping with calving and haying, and always kept a meticulous yard and home.
Surviving family members include her husband, Bob, Hettinger, ND; 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, Mark Lewis, Lisbon, ND, and James and Melissa Lewis, Bismarck, ND; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers-in-law, Earl Laufer, Hettinger, ND, and Darrel Bowman, Bozeman, MT; 1 sister-in-law, Barbara Sather, Hansville, WA; 1 sister-in-law and 1 brother-in-law, Patti and Bill Ohnemus, Spearfish, SD; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins in Norway.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Ruth Sather, daughter, Constance (Connie) Lewis Priest; brother, Birger Sather; 2 sisters, Liv Laufer and Joan Bowman; and 1 sister-in-law and 1 brother-in-law, Marilyn and Robert Mundahl.
