She is survived by her husband, Mike; five sons, Eric Severance, Robbie Severance, Tommy Weber and Tony Severance, all of Palermo, and Chad Severance, Minot; two daughters, Jody Severance, Plaza, and Tia Weber, Palermo; three grandchildren; one brother, Allan Garnas, New Town; four sisters, Sheril Berg, New Town, June Dunlap, California, Cindy Pistner, Ulysses, Kan., and Sharlene Myran, Minot; one adopted sister, Donna Walin, Minot; and her mother and stepfather, Opal and Ernie Yuzicapi, Minot. Gregory Voiles
Gregory Lynn Voiles, 45, Bismarck, died July 15, 2001. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Gerald Walsh officiating. Greg was born Feb. 18, 1956, to Theodore and Betty Voiles in Langdon. He grew up and attended and graduated from Langdon High School. He then attended UND in Grand Forks. Greg married Lisa Kondos in 1982 and they resided in Bismarck. From this union were born his son, Ryan, and daughter, Natalie. Greg, you will always live on in our hearts. He is survived by his two children, Ryan and Natalie Voiles, both of Bismarck; two sisters, Linda and Rod Halvorson, Laurel, Mont., and Mary and Mark Lindahl, Cando; and several nieces and nephews. Agnes Allmendinger
Agnes Allmendinger, 76, Bismarck, died July 27, 2001, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas Kramer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7 tonight. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services. Agnes was born June 20, 1925, in Glen Ullin, the daughter of Anton and Eva (Zahn) Schumacher. She married Otto C. Allmendinger on Nov. 22, 1951. He died in August 1961. Upon his death, Agnes moved to Bismarck. She married Irvin Fischer in September 1965. She became a cook at the Bismarck Municipal Country Club. She also cooked at the Bismarck Moose Club, AMVETS and VFW. After her retirement she became a volunteer at her church and the Germans From Russia. She was a member of Women of the Moose, Catholic Daughters and St. Theresa's Guild of Corpus Christi Church and was a past president and member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Agnes loved to crochet, make quilts, play cards and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Gloria Jean Baldwin, Butte, Mont., Carla Strand and Shelly Fischer, both of Bismarck; two sons, Gary Wayne, Gillette, Wyo., and Ron and Michelle, Butte, Mont.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike Schumacher, Bismarck, and Konston Schumacher, Glen Ullin; and two sisters, Theresa Kottre, Missoula, Mont., and Maggie Schneider, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto; her parents; two sisters, Mary and Marie; and her son, Terry.

DICKINSON -- Anna Conlon, 91, Dickinson, died July 26, 2001, in a Dickinson care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Monday at Hillside Baptist Church, Dickinson, with burial in Dickinson Cemetery. She is survived by three children, Judy Johnk, Minot, Patti Conlon, Dickinson, and Frank, Jamestown; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Adeline Creviston, Dickinson; and one brother, Emil Krein, Richardton; four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. Freeda Gehring
GARRISON-- Freeda Gehring, 91, Garrison, died July 26, 2001, in the Garrison care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at United Church of Christ, Garrison, with the Rev. Ed Zuern officiating. Burial will be in Garrison cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Freeda Marie Robbins was born Sept. 12, 1909, on a farm near Ryder, to Georgia Dorcas Goen and George Franklin Robbins. She was educated at Blue Hill School. She married Luke Gehring on June 8, 1932, at Washburn. She lived in Garrison until 1941, when the family moved to Tacoma, Wash., where she and Luke worked during World War II. She worked as a plane riveter for Boeing Aircraft. They returned to Garrison in 1943 after the war. She also worked for Leona Sayler at Sayler's Variety from 1965 to 1969. She moved to the McLean Manor in 1997. She later became a resident at Benedictine Living Center. Freeda's children and grandchildren were most important to her and she loved to have them come to visit her. She always had time to talk to them and was famous for her macaroni and cheese, fudgesicles, and chicken in a biscuit crackers. Her house was our "Come and pick me up, Mom, place" during their school days and even after they were grown. Saturday mornings were always coffee time for she enjoyed those weekly visits to catch up on current news of family. She would remind us if we hadn't been there the previous week. To some of our kids she was White Grama and Grama Freeda. To others just Grama, but dearly loved by all of them. We will miss her but know that she is in a better place. Sorrow is not forever, love is. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Duschek, Lodi, Wis., and Marlene and Mylo Mautz, Garrison; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Arlene, Garrison; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; and three sisters.

He is survived by nine children; several grandchildren; one brother, Harlan, Fargo; and three sisters, Adeline Konschak, Goodrich, Inez Weed, Fargo, and Charlotte Counihan, Moorhead, Minn.

Harley Thom
NORWICH -- Harley B. Thom, 74, Norwich, died July 26, 2001, of natural causes in his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Harley was born July 10, 1927, in Russell, the son of Bernhardt "Ben" and Freida (Amon) Thom. He was reared and educated at Layton High School in Layton Township. He grew up in an agricultural environment and throughout his life loved farming and managed to stay in the farming industry. In 1949, he married Helen Thompson at Towner. They lived in Minot where he worked for Becwar and Cederstrom as their sales representative. He later became a partner with Art Langen in the T & T Tire Services. In 1959 they moved to Bismarck where they owned and operated the Farmers Supply. After many successful years in farm equipment sales, he branched into selling irrigation systems and drilling water wells around the state. In 1977, the couple moved back to the Minot area where they continued to drill water wells and owned and operated a farm at Upham. He retired from drilling in 1996 and continued with his farming interests until the time of his death. Through the years he was involved in many organizations. He was a member and officer in the congregation at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot. He served four years on the North Dakota State Board of Water Well Drillers, and held a life membership at the Elks and Moose. He held his pilot's license and was a member of the North Dakota Wing of the Civil Air Patrol. While at the Moose he served two terms as governor. He was a member of the Northwest Polkateers and served as an officer several times. He really enjoyed dancing and spent the last 20 years dancing almost every Saturday. He also attended many polka fests. He is survived by his wife, Helen; ond daughter, Linda "L.K." Keller and her fiance, Jerome Keller, Bismarck; one granddaughter, Leissa Harter-Keller, Fargo; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Clifford and Ann, and Clayton and Myra, all of Minot, and Sheldon and Caroline, Ray; one sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Tony Kupser, Minot; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sisters; one sister, Violet Gartner; and one brother, Willard Thom.

HARVEY -- Susie Best, 89, Harvey, died July 3, 2001, in her home. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mennonite Brethren Church, Harvey, with burial in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey. Susie Kleinsasser was born Dec. 16, 1911, near Chaseley. Susie was the daughter of William and Mary (Hofer) Kleinsasser. She attended rural school in the Chaseley area. Susie married Charles F. Best on Nov. 10, 1929, at Chaseley. They lived and farmed in the rural Towner, Hurdsfield and Chaseley areas. She was a homemaker, but also a cook and waitress and Geri's Lunch and later Hornbacher's Cafe in Harvey. Her husband died March 30, 1983. She was a member of Hope Mennonite Brethren Church, Chaseley. Susie enjoyed helping people, babysitting, baking layer and angel food cakes to give away. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. and Dorothy Best, Harvey; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Clara and Richard Knodel, Hurdsfield, Geraldine Hoffard, Harvey, Mary Lou and Gilbert Schmidt, Harvey, and Grace Frueh, Scottsbluff, Neb.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Decker, Huron, S.D., and Justina Buchwitz, Bismarck. Susie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Albert; and nine sisters, Katie Olschlager, Rachel Kramer, Anna Keyes, Sarah Rall, Mary Patzer, Elizabeth Gross, Agatha Olschlager, Hilda Kleinsasser and Viola Eckhardt.

George Caussyn
George Caussyn, 71, Mandan, died July 3, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Jacob Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites by Mandan American Legion and Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars posts. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Catholic Daughters rosary will be said at 4 p.m. today, followed by a parish vigil at 7 tonight. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m.-noon at the funeral home. George Caussyn was born July 29, 1929, at Flaxton, the son of Emil and Martha (Bourdeau) Caussyn. He was raised on a farm and educated in Mentor Township. He entered the U.S. Army in February 1951, and served in Korea. George was honorably discharged in 1952. After military service, he attended Wahpeton State School of Science. George married Amelia "Millie" Schmidt on July 2, 1956, in Bismarck. George worked as a heavy equipment operator at Baukol-Noonan Mine in Noonan, for 32 years. His hobbies included planes, hunting, fishing, camping, and being a ham radio operator. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan, a former board member of St. Martin Catholic Church, Center, a member of the Center Ambulance Service, and a ham radio operator for Skywatch Weather Alert. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, MIllie; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Solbella, Zackary, La.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Julie Tokach, Mandan, and Linda and Bryan Salem, Fernley, Nev.; three grandchildren, Dylan Caussyn, Chad Tokach and Brett Salem; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis and Joan, Casa Grande, Ariz., and Dwaine and Elaine, East Helena, Mont.; and two special aunts and on uncle, Alvina McDonald, and Ann and Charles Darras, all of Minot. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Grant Hauge
ELGIN -- Services for Grant Hauge, 77, Elgin, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethesda Lutheran Church, south of Leith. The Revs. Ken Trana and Dale Carmen will officiate. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery, with military rites by the George W. Snook American Legion Post, Elgin. Casketbearers will be Jamie and Clair Hauge, Casey, Mike and Collin Dauwen, Matt McCaslin, Todd Nunn, and Jeff Indovina. Karen Sabin and Patsy Hauge, accompanists, and Vernon Glaeseman, vocalist, will provide special music. Visitation will be from 1-8:30 p.m. today at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Elgin, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Family services will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 tonight. Mr. Hauge passed away July 3, 2001, in the Elgin hospital. Norman Grant Hauge was born June 11, 1924, at the home ranch south of Leith, the son of Peter K. and Martha (Tystad) Hauge. He was the youngest of 12 children. Grant graduated from Leith High School in 1942, and at the age of 18, enlisted in the U.S. Navy. The two most important things in Grant's life were his family and the preservation of our country. He served on the subMarines Tautog and Cabrilla during three war patrols. He was the youngest sailor serving on the Tautog. After the war, Grant returned to the family farm south of Leith. He met Edith Seibel and they were united in marriage on Jan. 3, 1947. They celebrated 54 years together. When they retired from farming, they moved to Elgin and spent time golfing, fishing and bowling. They also enjoyed raising a big garden and supplied fresh vegetables to their children and grandchildren. Grant tended to his yard, garden and trees in town, always proudly displaying the American flag. Grant always found time to return to the farm to help stack bales and pack silage, as he felt those were still his jobs. In the winter months he enjoyed his wood working shop and giving the best of what he made to his children and grandchildren for Christmas. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was also active in his community, serving on his local school and township boards, the Selective Service board and the Elgin Golf Club. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Edith Hauge; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Jody, Leith, and Jerry and Susan, Prescott, Wis.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Daphne and Dale Hartman, Lovell, Wyo., and Susan and Dave Dauwen, Dickinson; his 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy; two sisters, Alice Jones, Las Cruces, N.M., and Lillian Kimball, Sequim, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nine brothers and sisters.
