Bonnie was above all a most gracious and helpful giver, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt and friend. In many ways she was a second mother to her daughter-in-law, and most particularly, to the grandchildren she held so dear. A fun-loving person, she enjoyed good times immensely and made the very best of the bad. Perhaps this, along with her sparkling personality was why children and adults were drawn to her as though she were a magnet. Usually up for most any new adventure, she was always ready to be the family planner and organizer. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

He taught country school for four years, beginning when he was 19. After his years as a teacher, he attended a Bismarck business college, where he also taught some of the classes. He won many awards and made hundred of life-long friends in the 15 years he worked as a salesman for Davis Chevrolet, before and after World War II. During the war years, he worked as an accountant for Boeing Aircraft Corp. He married Frances Hamel on Jan. 17, 1942. In 1950, Bill started Mandan Transfer and Storage, which he owned and operated on Main Street in Mandan. His son, Ron, joined him in 1974, but Bill continued working there until he was in his eighties.
Bill loved hunting, fishing and working with dogs and horses. Driving a North Dakota gravel road and enjoying the views was a particular joy for him. He was deeply at home in the countryside. He thought Bill and Ann, his grandchildren, were the greatest thing since vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Ann's husband, Jason was also very popular, especially after the first time he cooked some freshly caught walleye. Grandson Bill's friend from Seattle was another favorite and he was looking forward to her next visit in May. For several years after Frances died, he enjoyed the companionship of his buddy, a West Highland White Terrier, Tory. Bill was a gentleman and a helpful friend. He usually had a ready quip to enliven a conversation. He was a father who filled us with pride.
Bill is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Mary, Mandan; his grandchildren, Bill Carrick, Seattle, and Ann Kirschmeier and her husband, Jason, Mandan; and his sister, Mollie Leach, New Salem.
