Evangeline "Vangie" Rambur, 71, Bismarck, died Aug. 16, 2001, in a local hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas E. Kramer officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a rosary and vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church. Evangeline "Vangie" Huck was born April 6, 1930, in Center, the daughter of Frank and Eva (Denius) Huck. She was raised and educated in Beulah and graduated from Beulah High School in 1948. Vangie married Thomas Rambur on Oct. 16, 1950, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck. She began working at Dakota National Bank on Nov. 8, 1968, and retired April 30, 1985, from Norwest Bank, which is now Wells Fargo. Vangie enjoyed bowling and bowling trips, but her favorite pastime was spending time at Lake Tschida. For Vangie a perfect day was feeding birds, morning coffee on the deck and the pontoon rides with family and friends. Vangie also loved music, concerts and bingo. She was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; one daughter, Vicki Lippert, Mandan; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Betty Rambur, South Burlington, Vt.; four grandchildren, Jessica, Abraham, Shawna and Will; one sister, Sally Schwede, Bismarck; and her special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Eva; an infant brother; a brother-in-law, Robert Schwede; and her stepmother, Mayme Huck. Vangie will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The family prefers memorials to the God's Child Project.

Constantine Zahn
LINTON -- Constantine "Connie" Zahn, 88, Linton, died Aug. 15, 2001, in Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, with the Rev. Bruce Krebs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church. Connie was born Dec. 10, 1929, on a farm near Hague to Anton and Frances (Volk) Zahn. When he was a baby, the family moved to a farm west of Linton. Connie attended rural school. He worked on various farms in the area until his marriage to Caroline Bosch at Sacred Heart Church, rural Linton, on Jan. 21, 1941. They farmed in the Linton area until 1947, when they moved to a farm two miles north of Temvik. They retired and moved into Linton in 1977. Connie was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a former member of the Eagles Club. He enjoyed his family and his grandchildren were very special to him. Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Caroline; two daughters and sons-in-law, Anna Marie and Arlis Backhaus, Linton, and Linda and Kenneth Olson, Steele; five grandchildren, Troy Backhaus, Lisa Seymour, Tyler Backhaus, Jason Olson and Travis Olson; six great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Sylvester and Helen Zahn and Ann Zahn, all of Linton; and three sisters and one brother-in-law, Elizabeth Schneider and Mary A. Malen Dewing
Malen J. Dewing, 43, Bismarck, died Aug. 13, 2001, in an accident on the river. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Lisa Ahlness and Paul Schauer officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Malen Joel Dewing was born Sept. 17, 1957, in Crosby, the son of Ralph and Helen (Forthun) Dewing. His family moved to Bismarck in 1961 and Malen attended Bismarck schools. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1975. He then graduated from the University of North Dakota and the University of Colorado. Malen returned to North Dakota, where he farmed on the family farm near Columbus. He then owned and operated Woodside Gardens on River Road north of Bismarck. Recently Malen was involved with producing and promoting local music groups. Malen was one who would always try new things and especially if it involved the outdoors. He learned mountain climbing, loved his gardening and his dogs and became quite a cook. All who knew him could say Malen was definitely a free spirit. He is survived by his mother, Helen, Bismarck; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Myrna and Alfred Ryberg, Menoken, Marvey Weigelt, Liverpool, N.Y., and Jane Dewing, St. Louis Park, Minn.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Wayne Dewing and Gaylen and Wanda Dewing, all of Bismarck, and Carroll and Crystal Dewing, Wilton; and many nieces and nephews. MENOKEN -- Mary Belle Longmuir, 78, Menoken, died Aug. 17, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Riverwood Baptist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ron Rich officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Mary Belle Seaberg was born March 10, 1923, on a farm south of Heaton, the daughter of Adah and John Seaberg. She was raised in the Tuttle-Robinson area and graduated from Tuttle High School in 1940. In the fall of 1940, Mary Belle moved to Idaho and returned to Bismarck in 1943. Mary Belle worked as a waitress in Bismarck. She married Jerry Longmuir on June 17, 1944, in Bismarck. Mary Belle was quite a bowler and softball player. She loved most all sports and loved following her sons in their sports. She loved fishing, gardening, cooking for her family, listening to books on tape and visiting with her family. Her great-grandchildren were the light of her life in the past few years. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Cherie Longmuir, Claytonia, Neb., and Monty and Dottie Longmuir, Menoken; three grandchildren, Chanda Longmuir, St. Louis, Mo., Travis Longmuir, Bismarck, and Ginger and Justin Rich, Bismarck; three great-grandchildren, Patrick Longmuir and Alicia and Micah Rich, all of Bismarck; one sister and brother-in-law, Mabel and Calvin Knutson, Tuttle; one sister-in-law, Vange Balzer, Bismarck; many nieces and nephews; and her good friends, Ruth Stark, Tuttle, and Irene Whitman, Robinson. Arthur Henry Nickel, 91, Medcenter One Care Center, Mandan, died Aug. 17, 2001. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas R. Marcis Jr. officiating. There will be no public viewing. Arthur was born July 8, 1910, at the Judson farm, to William and Augusta (Hasse) Nickel. He was raised and educated in the school south of Judson. He married Edith Ellwein on June 25, 1939, in New Salem. They lived in the Nickel farm homestead south of Judson until moving to Mandan in 1962 where he worked at the Blue Ribbon Hatchery (Minot and Mandan), Nickel's Firestone and PV Lumber Company in Mandan. Arthur enjoyed his family and friends, gardening, playing cards and his love of horses. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Eunice and Darrel Suchy, Mandan; two grandchildren, Robyn and Dennis DeVault, Wilton, and Darren and Patricia Suchy, Mandan; three great-grandchildren, Kim, Brian and Matthew; a special nephew, Arthur Vorpahl; and many other nieces and nephews. Paul Senger, 69, Mandan, formerly of Edgeley, died Aug. 16, 2001, in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, with the Rev. Duaine Cote officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley. Visitation will continue from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the church, followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m., and will continue Monday for one hour prior to services at the church. Paul was born Aug. 26, 1931, on the family farm near Hague, the son of John and Frances (Kelsch) Senger. He was raised in Edgeley and graduated from Edgeley High School in 1949. Paul was a member of the North Dakota National Guard in Edgeley and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952. Upon his discharge in 1952 he returned to Edgeley. Paul married Frances Hilzendeger on Oct. 5, 1953, at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Edgeley. They farmed near Edgeley until 1969. He then was employed as a truck driver for Melroe Co. until he retired in 1990 after 22 years. Paul had a great love for old-time music. He played in a band called the "Four Spots" for 42 years as an accordionist and organist. He is survived by his wife, Frances; a son, James (Paulette), Bismarck; four daughters, Patty (H. Dean) Johnson, Valley City, Karen (Tony) Geiger, Bismarck, Jeanie (John) Walters, Mandan, and Shari (Eric) Burke, Shakopee, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and his twin sister, Pauline Sander, Coon Rapids, Minn. CARRINGTON -- Sophia Wiedrich, 95, Carrington, formerly of Driscoll, died Aug. 15, 2001, in a Carrington care center after a hard struggle with cancer. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas R. Marcis Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Boelter-Eastgate Funeral Service, 200 W. Turnpike Ave., Bismarck, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church. Sophia Mittelsteadt was born Feb. 4, 1906, in Mercer County, the daughter of Frederick and Juliana (Renn) Mittelsteadt. She was raised and attended school through the fourth grade in Mercer County near Hazen. Sophia married Wilhelm "William" Wiedrich on Nov. 11, 1923. They farmed in the Hazen area until 1950 when they relocated to Driscoll as a result of the Garrison Dam Project. Wilhelm died May 30, 1978. Sophia had resided in Mandan for a short time and then in 1997 she moved to Carrington. Sophia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bismarck. She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Raymond and Connie Wiedrich, Huson, Mont., and Lawrence Wiedrich, Sykeston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Delphine and Robert Hughes, Eldridge, Mont., and Myra and Laird Stewart, Isle, Minn.; one daughter-in-law, Darlene (Mrs. Douglas) Wiedrich; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Adolph Mittelsteadt, Hazen; and one sister, Rose Boeckel, La Mesa, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Milo and Douglas Wiedrich; her parents; two brothers, Walter and Rudolph Mittelsteadt; and two sisters, Ida Moast and Emma Ost.
