Deb Siebels-Prodzinski
JAMESTOWN -- Deb Siebels-Prodzinski, 44, Jamestown, died June 13, 2001, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fried. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday for one hour prior to services at the church. Deb Lynn Siebels was born March 12, 1957, in Fargo, the daughter of Alord and Marcella (Long) Siebels. She graduated from Shanley High School, Fargo, in 1976. Following her graduation she was employed by the Anne Carlsen Center for Children in Jamestown from 1979 to 1983. While with the Anne Carlsen Center, she met and worked with her future husband, Gary Prodzinski. Deb and Gary were married June 13, 1981, at St. Anthony Padua Catholic Church, Fargo. They moved to Jamestown following their marriage. Following Gary's retirement in 1991 due to ill health, they moved to Grand Forks, where they lived from 1993 to 1997, and then to Bismarck in 1997. They returned to live in Jamestown in 1999. Gary died Oct. 29, 2000. Deb was a member of the Presentation Sisters Associates, Fargo, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Freid, and the Catholic Daughters of America. She devoted herself to caring for her husband during his 14 years of ill health. She is survived by her mother, Marcella, Fargo; two sisters, Mary Ann Siebels and Margaret (Gary) Zeren, both of Fargo; one brother, Charles (Jennifer), Katy, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; and her father, Alord.

Ingeborg Atwood
BOWDOINHAM, Maine -- Ingeborg Ruth Atwood, 76, Muddy River Lane, died June 28, 2001, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Konigsberg, East Prussia, Aug. 29, 1924, the daughter of Bernhard and Helene Lehman Behnert. She moved to Bremen, Germany, when she was 14. She played mandolin with a group for a local radio station when she was 12. When she was 21, she was drafted and served briefly with the German Army at the end of World War II. On Aug. 9, 1952, she married Stanley Nelson Atwood in Bremen. He served in the U.S. Army for 30 years. The couple and their five children were stationed across the country and in Germany, with her husband's military career ending in retirement after being stationed for six years in Bismarck, N.D. They returned to Maine in 1976. They made their home first in Topsham and for the past 12 years have lived in Bowdoinham. She worked for many years in state and federal government positions. When she retired in 1996, she had worked at the Brunswick Naval Air Station for 20 years. Her last position at BNAS was as a workman's compensation specialist. Mrs. Atwood actively volunteered in any community she lived. While in Maine she volunteered with many organizations over the years. She was on the board of directors of the Coastal Humane Society, she belonged to Toastmasters for several years, serving as president at one point. She was a member and secretary of the Merrymeeting Sportsman's Club in Topsham, a member of the NRA and once competed as a small bore rifle team member. She also crocheted items for the 55 Plus Center's Christmas Fair in Brunswick. In recent years she volunteered with the Burnswick Soup Kitchen. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed reading and crafts. She is survived by her husband of 49 years; her mother, Helene Behnert, Bremen; two daughters, Karin Congleton and her husband, Brian, Topsham, Donna Atwood, Lakeville, Minn.; three sons, Eric and his wife, Corie, Bismarck, Alan, Bismarck, and Gary and his wife LuAnn, Bowdoinham; two sisters, Brunhilde Mueller and Gunda Martens, both of Bremen; one brother, Harry Behnert, Bremen; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Stetson's Funeral Home, Brunswick. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Bay View Cemetery, Bowdoinham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brunswick Soup Kitchen, P.O. Box 632, Brunswick, Maine 04011. Jacob Brieher
Jacob Brieher, 98, Beaverton, Ore., formerly of Bismarck, died June 28, 2001, of natural causes in Beaverton. His family was at his bedside. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Kermit Culver officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday and one hour before services at the funeral home. Born in Odessa, Russia, on Nov. 20, 1902, his family immigrated to the United States in 1905, when he was three years old. They settled in Coleharbor where they farmsteaded in a one-room sod house. Because of hard times, the family was forced to move to Callaway, Minn., in 1912, where they farmed rented land until 1922 when the family moved to Bismarck. Jake worked at St. Alexius Hospital for eight years. During a two-year stint in Minot he met his wife, Evelyn Tracy from Des Lacs. They married on March 3, 1930, and moved back to Bismarck where they lived until 1996. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this year. He was employed by the U.S. Government as a maintenance supervisor for the U.S. Post Office in Bismarck from 1930 until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church (United Methodist Church). He was also a member of the Elks Lodge 1199 and the Eagles Club in Bismarck. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed bowling, which he only started when he was in his mid-70s. After his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed camping at the Eagle's campground in Bismarck. He leaves his wife, Evelyn; one son, Ron, Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Darlene, Whitewood, S.D.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, William.
Arlie Burgess
Arlie D. Burgess, 78, died June 28, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, with the Rev. Larry Jahnke officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Arlie was born May 21, 1923, in Marshall, the son of Roy and Alice (Henrickson) Burgess. The family lived in the Dodge-Halliday area. From 1942-1945, Arlie served in the U.S. Marine Corp. After his service in the military, he returned to North Dakota and completed college at Dickinson State Teachers College, where he graduated in 1949 with a bachelor of science degree in education. He later attended summer sessions and correspondence classes to complete his masters of arts degree in education from the University of North Dakota in 1958. Arlie began his teaching career in Halliday and then later taught at St. Thomas and Kenmare before moving to the Bismarck Public School system. He taught at Bismarck High School from 1957-1975 and at Century High School from 1975-1985. Arlie taught business education courses and was the advisor for the Distributive Education Club of America (D.E.C.A.) at Bismarck High. After retiring in 1985, he taught at the United Tribes Technical College, Bismarck, from 1986-1988. Arlie's vocation meant much more to him than just a job. He took pride in seeing his former students succeed and especially enjoyed it when former students would stop him and visit. Arlie married Lois Olson, June 1, 1959. After her passing, he later married Patricia Delaney on June 29, 1978. Arlie is survived by his wife, Patricia; one daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Randy Jahraus, Martinsville, Ind.; one son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Gayle, Rolla; his stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Vicki and Pat Peake, Grand Forks, Donna and Terry Gulka, Dickinson, Barb Binstock, Dickinson, Gayle and Wade Burgess, Rolla, and Marla Schiermeister, Bismarck; nine grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Jahraus, Martinsville, Mike and his wife Jacy Burgess, Jamestown, Eric Burgess, Aberdeen, S.D., Enrique Gulka, Dickinson, Kari and her husband, Mark Roles, Atlanta, Ga., Jeff Binstock, Atlanta, and Marisa and Vicki Schiermeister, Bismarck; two great-grandchildren, Noah, the son of Mike and Jacy, and Kylee, daughter of Vicki; one sister, Verlin Gilge, Halliday; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Burgess, Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Colby and Gerald; one sister, Mavis Carlson; his first wife, Lois; and one stepson, Charles.
