He is survived by two daughters, Ann Hagel, Washburn, and Jeanette Bray, Mahnomen, Minn.; six sons, Fred, Esmond, Daniel, Bath, S.D., John, Coleharbor, Henry, Brookings, S.D., Kenneth, Fillmore, and Richard, Rugby; 34 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Steve, Redmond, Ore. Joyce M. Weisenburger died March 11, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, with the Rev. Keith Odney officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Leslie Buchholz
DRISCOLL -- Leslie E. Buchholz, 67, Driscoll, died March 9, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Jeff Tengesdahl officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at Perry Funeral Home.
Les was born May 6, 1933, in Elgin, to Gust and Pauline (Kost) Buchholz and attended rural school in Hettinger County. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1954 until 1956 and was stationed at Fort Knox, Ky. He married JoAnne Mees March 12, 1955, in Mott. They had two children, Scott and Susan. While living in Mott, they owned the Cannonball Pony Farm. Les was active in the community as a volunteer fireman, 4-H leader and was recognized as the Jaycees Man of the Year.
In 1969 Les and JoAnne moved to Bismarck. Les owned and operated Port-A-Feeder Sales in Mandan until 1982. He then operated Horseshoe Western Wear with his daughter until 1995. He retired to a hobby farm in Driscoll with Cheri Dorgan, his loving partner in his final years. Les greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, auction sales and tending his exotic animals.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Leanne, Buffalo, Minn.; one daughter, Susan Buchholz, Bismarck; three grandchildren, Danyell Buchholz, Amber Poland and Aaron Buchholz, Buffalo, Minn.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Reuben and Janet, Dickinson, Marvin and Berna, Bismarck, and Dennis and Pam, New Salem; seven sisters and four brothers-in-law, Violet Rokusek and Irene Jewell, both of New Salem, Lenora and Lloyd Metzger, Park City, Mont., Rosie and Tony Bussman, Tucson, Ariz., Carol and Stan Friedt, Rapid City, S.D., and Janice Froelich, and Margie Argetsinger and Jose Pimentel, all of Portland, Ore, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

James Spilman
James Spilman, 83, Bismarck, died March 9, 2001, in a local hospital. Services will be held at noon Monday at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas E. Kramer officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a rosary vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
James Spilman was born Dec. 10, 1917, in New Rockford, the son of Franklin and Sadie (Byron) Spilman. He attended grades one through 11 at the Catholic Academy in New Rockford and graduated in 1932 from New Rockford Public High School. Jim worked for a year at the family farm in Sandstone, Minn., with his father and grandfather Pete Spilman.
Jim attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served for four years, finishing as a staff sergeant with the 98th Field Hospital in Japan. He returned to complete a B.S. degree in commerce in 1947.
He started his 33-year career with Job Service N.D. with assignments in the New Rockford and Devils Lake offices. In 1950, he was promoted to district manager in Riverdale for the construction of the Garrison Dam. There he met Juliann Zirbes. They were married Aug. 22, 1955, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. Jim and Juliann started their family while in Valley City. They moved to Bismarck in 1963. He retired as a labor market analyst from state office in 1980.
Jim remained in Bismarck after his retirement and worked to compile family genealogical and historical information. He was active in his parish, serving as an usher and on fund-raising drives.
Jim enjoyed travel, tinkering in the garage and pursuing spiritual studies. He will be remembered as outgoing, friendly and good-humored. He embodied strong family values.
Jim was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus. He was also involved in the Elks, Eagles and American Legion.
He is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Spilman, Chicago, Ill.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Patrick and Amy, Bismarck, Timothy and Kelly, Mandan, and John, Elmhurst, Ill.; and seven grandchildren, Sarah and Katherine Spilman, both of Bismarck, and Alexander, Eileen, Eric, Dale and Juliann Spillman, all of Mandan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juliann; his parents; and one infant brother, Joseph Jay.
The family prefers memorials to North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
