ELLENDALE -- Gladys Helen Ost, 71, Ellendale, died April 3, 2001, in the Ellendale care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Presbyterian United Methodist Church, Ellendale, with burial in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
She is survived by her husband, Osborn Ost, Ellendale; two sons, Timothy Ost, Valley City, and Todd Ost, Great Bend, Kan.; two daughters, Tamara Fritzler, Gilette, Wyo., and Teresa Campbell, Frederick, S.D.; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Herrmann and Delano Herrmann, both of Fargo; and two sisters, Florence Radke, Fredonia, and Alice Blumhardt, Langford. James Pendergast
James R. Pendergast, FACMPE, 74, Scottsdale, Ariz., died April 2, 2001. Mr. Pendergast was a retired vice president of operations for Cigna HealthCare of Arizona. Prior to moving to Arizona, he was administrator of Capitol City Clinic, Bismarck, one of the predecessors of Mid-Dakota Clinic.
He was born Oct. 12, 1926, in Northwood. The son of Carter and Ovedia Pendergast, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. In 1951 he married his wife of 50 years, Loretta Rothschiller of Mandan. They lived in Bismarck until 1964 when they moved to Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta; one son, James Jr. and his wife, Brenda, Prescott Valley, Ariz.; one daughter, Mary and her husband Jayson Walker; one brother, Carter Pendergast Jr., Bismarck; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1085 N. 84th St. in Scottsdale at 1 p.m. Saturday. Internment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Vista Care Foundation, 4222 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, Ariz. 85018.

Evelyn Hickle
Evelyn Hickle, 85, Bismarck and formerly of Center, died Aug. 17, 2000 at her home. Services will be held at Mandan United Methodist Church, 610 12th St. NW, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Mark Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday, and 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan. There will be no viewing at the church. Evelyn was born on June 28, 1915 at Pelican Rapids, Minn., the daughter of Louis Harold and Edith (Richards) Hannaford. As a child, she moved with her family to Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School. She married William T. Hickle on July 2, 1939 at Pelican Rapids. They farmed east of Center for 60 years until moving to Edgewood Vista in Bismarck in October of last year. Evelyn is survived by her husband, William; her four sons, William H., Inyokern, Calif., Donald C., Houston, Texas, Gordon L. and his wife, Susan, Montrose, Calif., and Arthur J. and his wife, Laura, Ridgecrest, Calif.; four grandchildren, Jason, Colin, and Adrienne Hickle, and Mary Williams and her husband, Raymond; four great-grandchildren, Nichole, Evelyn, Emily and Tyler Williams; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jean and Orin Bell, Manhattan, Kan., and Louise Wheatley, Seaside, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lucille Fernandes; two brothers, Vern Hannaford and Louis Hannaford Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Hickle. William David Davis
William David Davis, 34, 119 W. Buffalo St., Mandan, died Aug. 19, 2000, in a car accident in Ellsworth, Wis. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 1100 Collins Ave., Mandan, with the Rev. Bob Pittman officiating. Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue at the church one hour before services. William David Davis, the son of Marshall and Nancy (Hoskins) Davis, was born May 31, 1966, in Hattiesburg, Miss. William graduated from Hazen High School and attended the power plant school at Bismarck State College. He served in the U.S. Navy from Dec. 7, 1984 until Aug. 25, 1987. On Sept. 16, 1995, he married Sherri Berger at First Baptist Church in Mandan. William was a construction worker and member of the Union Carpenter Local 1091. William was a fan of music and loved animals. He enjoyed model cars, Nascar, football, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He is survived by his wife, Sherri; one daughter, Alexis Davis, Mandan; one stepson, Evan Grant, Mandan; his mother,Nancy, and stepfather, Weston Schauer, Beulah; his grandmother, Georgetta Bryant and step-grandfather, Herbert Bryant, Ellisville, Miss.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Mark W. and Lisa Davis, Lincoln, and Franklin E. Davis, Mandan; two stepbrothers and one stepsister-in-law, David and Sharelee Schauer, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dan Schauer, Minneapolis; one stepsister, Evie Schauer, Fargo; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Marshall W. Davis; his grandparents, Fletcher and Nettie Davis; and one brother, Marshall Davis Jr.
