Orlee Fisher
SOLEN -- Orlee Fisher, 80, Solen, died Feb. 25, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Parish Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. and a Odense Verein Rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Weigel Funeral Home, and from noon until time of services at the church. Orlee Fisher, the son of Emil and Alice (Philipe) Fisher, was born March 3, 1920, in rural St. Anthony. He was raised and educated in the St. Anthony area. On Sept. 3, 1940, he was united in marriage to Margaret Fleck in St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Anthony. Orlee farmed and ranched on his farm, where he and Orlee John and his family were presently living. He was a Morton County Deputy Sheriff for the Solen area for five years. Orlee was a lifetime member of St. Anthony Parish, and a member of the Odense Verein and Mandan Moose Lodge. Orlee was a generous man who always had a hot cup of coffee and a meal for anyone who came to visit. His family was very important to him. He especially enjoyed the family picnics, fishing, farming, ranching and dancing the polka and the waltz. He always took the time to visit with family and friends. Orlee was a very dedicated man who took great pride in his family and work. He liked horses and Black Angus cattle and his dogs. Orlee always gave his dogs special names. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wilbert and Donna, and Orlee John and Delila, all of Solen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Alberta and Leonard Berger, St. Anthony, and Pearl and Richard Rhone, Center; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Sr., St. Anthony, and Arnold, Mandan; and two sisters, Iola Gifford, Flasher, and Alice Lundstrom, Mandan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Fisher; six brothers, Elmer, Emil, Arthur, Clifford, Glenn and infant Adolph; and one infant sister, Garnett.

HETTINGER -- Maynard Kock, 90, Hettinger, died Feb. 27, 2001, in a Hettinger medical center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Thursday at United Methodist Church, Hettinger. Burial will be in the city cemetery. He is survived by four sons, Dearyl Koch, Billings, Mont., Lynn Koch, Helena, Mont., Douglas Koch, Missoula, Mont., and Cordell Koch, West Palm Beach, Fla. and Hettinger; three daughters, Rea Kay Cassidy, Casper, Wyo., Janell Brown, Cascade, Mont., and Mary Ellen Koch, Belle Fourche, S.D.; three stepchildren, Dennis Bentsen, Hettinger, Juanita Nagel, Columbia Falls, Mont., and Sterling Bentsen, Bellevue, Wash.; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Charles J. Mann
Charles J. "Chuck" Mann, 57, Jamestown, died Feb. 24, 2001, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, with the Rev. Bernard Pfau officiating, and at 11 a.m. Friday at Christ the King Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, with military rites by American Legion Post 40. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown. Chuck was born Oct. 8, 1943, in Mandan, the son of John and Elizabeth (Klein) Mann. He was raised and educated in Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School in 1963. Charles entered the United States Army Dec. 14, 1965, in Fargo. He served in Germany and was discharged Dec. 17, 1967, at Fort Dixon, N.J. His early work years began with Vince's Body Shop and then as an assistant to Al Faschling at Peavey Elevator in Mandan. His career with Peavey and later ConAgra Company spanned 33 years until his retirement in 1999. He was highly respected, serving as manager in Menoken and Devils Lake, and retiring in Jamestown. He was a fishing instructor for North Dakota Game and Fish Camp for Kids. Chuck was a member of Lake Region Anglers, Devils Lake, Dakota Anglers, Jamestown, Eagles, Elks, and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and gardening. Chuck married Nancy Agnew in 1968 in Dickinson; their children are Kerrie (Mike) Soulis, of Jamestown, and David Mann, Fargo; and two grandchildren, Nathan and Sydney Soulis. In 1991 he married Jean Schaffer in Jamestown; his stepchildren are Korie Odegard and Jason Schaffer, both of Jamestown; and two step-grandchildren, Zackorie and Josh Odegard. Chuck is also survived by six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Mary Mann, Mandan, Clara and Walter Sorenson, Ogden, Utah, Carola and Ed Sirucek, Big Fork, Mont., Issabell Besserud, Casper, Wyo., Ann and James Grannan, Marian, Iowa, and Agnes and Fred Fowler, Midland, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Fran, Bismarck, and James and Diane, Waseca, Minn.; three aunts, LaVerne Klein, St. Anthony, Hilda Klein, Lincoln, Neb., and Eleanor Goetz, Helena, Mont.; and 16 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, John Raymond. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials in his name to Stutsman County Bank.
Ruth A. Miller
Ruth A. Miller, 93, Bismarck, died Feb. 24, 2001, in Littleton, Colo. A private memorial service will be held Saturday in Denver, Colo. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, St. Paul, Minn. She is survived by one son, Alan, Aurora, Colo.; one daughter, Marilyn Ekstrom, Roseville, Minn.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Agnes T. Swartz
Agnes T. Swartz, 89, Bismarck, formerly of Grafton, died Feb. 25, 2001, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Waterford Apartments, Bismarck, with the Rev. Darrell Aleson officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Grafton Lutheran Church, Grafton, with the Rev. H. Chris Hallanger officiating. Burial will be held in the spring in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services at the church. Agnes was born Dec. 9, 1911, in Grafton, the daughter of Olaus and Thora (Hegstad) Field. She was a graduate of Grafton High School and Valley City State Teachers College. Agnes married Ludwig Swartz July 24, 1940, in Park River. Ludwig died in December 1986. Agnes loved teaching and enjoyed her many years in Minto as a teacher, where she and Ludwig were longtime residents. She loved reading, especially about history, English, geography and current events. She is survived by one son, Mark, Bismarck; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marlys and Ted Helms, Fargo, and Kay and Fred Karnik, Bismarck; her grandchildren, Jacqueline Bavaro, Douglas Swartz, Lynn Jorde, and James, Melissa and Jennifer Karnik; her great-grandchildren, Ashley and Natalie Lyng; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Helmer and Bernice Field, Grafton, and William and Runa Field, Grafton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ludwig; one grandson, Jared Karnik; her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.

DICKINSON -- Anthony G. Saetz, 83, Dickinson, and formerly of Dunn Center, died Jan. 6, 2000 in a Dickinson living center. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. CST today, at Chapel of North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Arnold Pahl

Garlen Seidel
FESSENDEN -- Garlen Seidel, 83, Fessenden, died Jan. 7, 2000 in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, at First Lutheran Church, Fessenden, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Fessenden.
Garlen Seidel, son of Paul and Emma (Petersen) Seidel, was born May 8, 1916 on his parents' farm in Fariville Township, Wells County. In 1918, he moved with his family to a farm southeast of Hamberg, N.D., Hamberg Township, where he was raised. He received his early education in the Hamberg Township Country School and later attended Fessenden High School graduating in 1934.
As a young man he farmed with his father until 1943, when he entered the United States Army. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Following his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to the family farm.
On July 22, 1950, he was married to Grayce Reutter at Bismarck. They made their home on the Seidel family farm southeast of Hamberg where they farmed until 1985, when they retired and moved to Fessenden. Mrs. Seidel passed away on July 7, 1990.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Frank Proisl American Legion Post No. 33, Fessenden.
He is survived by his son, Gregory Seidel, rural Cathay; two daughters, Susan (Mrs. Steve) Humm, Finley, Ohio, and Julie Seidel, Bismarck; five grandchildren; and four sisters, Melva (Mrs. Wayne) Weber, Bismarck, Fern Atkins, Yuba City, Calif., Gloria (Mrs. Laverne) Luick, Otter Tail, Minn., and Vila (Mrs. Kenneth) Sill, Cincinnati, Ohio.
