Elizabeth M. Peterson
Elizabeth M. Peterson, 91, Bismarck, died April 17, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, with the Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Elizabeth M. Peterson was born June 26, 1908, in Bismarck, to William and Lena (Scholdon) Glitschka. She was raised and educated in Sioux City, Iowa, and Atlanta. Elizabeth moved to Bismarck in the late 1920s and worked at the Home Bake Shop. Elizabeth married Vernie A. Peterson June 15, 1931, in Selby, S.D. They farmed for 30 years in Naughton Township near Baldwin. They moved to Bismarck in 1969 and she worked with ticket sales at Greyhound Bus Depot until the late 1970s. Elizabeth enjoyed crocheting, baking, and fishing with Vernie. Elizabeth is survived by four grandchildren, Melissa, Lewis, Jericho and Vernie A. Peterson II; one nephew, Richard Hanson; and one sister-in-law, Eunice Hanson. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Vernie; her parents; one son, Don Peterson, in 1993; and one brother, Raymond Hanson.

Phyllis Roble
HARVEY -- Phyllis Roble, 73, Harvey, died April 19, 2000 in the Harvey hospital. Arrangements are pending with Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Jacob Saeman
Jacob Saeman, 78, Bismarck, died April 19, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital after a long battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas Marcis officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Friday, at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on the day of the service. Jacob was born June 5, 1921 north of Dodge to Theodore and Jacobina (Zeiszler) Saeman. He was raised and educated north of Dodge. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Montana. He married Minnie Schulz on March 10, 1942. They farmed north of Dodge until September 1975, when they moved to Bismarck. He worked for Thompson Plumbing and Apollo Piping Supply for a short time and Sunset Memorial Gardens for 13 years, retiring in 1997. Jacob is survived by his wife, Minnie; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Duane Kessler, Baldwin, Cindy and Arvid Mittelstadt, Dickinson, Jane and Wes Gunsch, Beulah; granddaughter, Kerry Hinsz and husband Tracy, Fargo; four grandsons, Wayne Mittelstadt and wife Rachel, Parker, Colo., Brian Gunsch and wife Brenda, Leesburg, Ga., Glenn Mittelstadt, Dickinson, Warren Kessler, Fargo; two great-granddaughters, Kylie Hinsz and Katie Mittelstadt; and many nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Ella, Williston, Bertha, Fairfield, Mont., and Esther, Wing; and special friends, Richard Frank, Bismarck, and Emil Frank, Beulah. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Fred, Albert, Emil, Herman, Art, Edward; two sisters, Emma and Ottilie; and one granddaughter, Rhonda Gunsch. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Marlene Wilhelm
NEW ENGLAND -- Marlene Wilhelm, 57, New England, died April 17, 2000 in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MDT Monday, at New England Assembly of God. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

James B. Blair
James B. Blair, 70, 1428 N. 22nd St., died April 20, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Gertrude Bullinger
Gertrude (Graner) Bullinger went on to be with the Lord April 15, 2000. Gertrude was born Dec. 7, 1918, in Huff. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Alfonse. She was a long time resident in Torrance, Calif. She is survived by her daughers and son-in-law, Aleene and Kameel Kobrossi, Quartz Hills, Ca., and Lisa Collins, Torrance, Calif.: sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Debbie Bullinger, Torrance, Calif., and Robert Bullinger, Monrovia, Calif., one sister, Marie Langdon, Grass Valley, Calif., and one brother, John Graner, Bismarck. Services were held April 19, at St. Cathrine's Laboure Church, Torrance, Calif. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetary, Culver City, Calif.

Margaret Mary Demaree
MINOT -- Margaret Mary Demaree, 87, Minot, died April 16, 2000, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot, with burial in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. Margaret was born Dec. 29, 1912, on the family farm in Mandan Township of Ward County, southwest of Berthold, to John "J.W." and Thekla (Fisher) Matzdorf. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural school before graduating from Minot High School in 1932. After graduation, Margaret worked with her sister, Gladys in a road construction cook car. She continued working on the family farm and helped Gladys with her children. Margaret married Rex Demaree on May 21, 1934, in MInot. Rex and Margaret purchased land at the edge of Minot. The one-room "shack" at Rural Route 2 grew into a seven-room home for their two daughters and four sons. It became 1200 16th Ave. S.W., where Margaret and Rex made their home for more than 65 years. Margaret was a business partner with her husband, overseeing the bookkeeping responsiblities for their businesses which included Demaree Excavating and Trucking Service and Rex's Auto Wreckers. Most importantly, she was a full-time mother. Rex died July 7, 1999. Margaret was a longtime member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, MInot, and was a member of its Plymouth Fellowship Circle. She served as a volunteer in its Pilgrim Shoppe and State Fair Church Stand. Margaret always had a garden that provided vegetables for a big family and sold the extras to local stores. Margaret and Rex enjoyed gardening together after their retirement. The beet pickles, homemade sauerkraut and, "chow-chow" relish that she shared with family members will now have to be made by others. Margaret was an active member and held several offices in the Women of the Moose and received the Academy of Friendship Degree. Her family and other Moose Lodge members enjoyed her participation in the Moose Lodge Dart League and the Saturday lunches. She had traveled extensively in the United States and Europe. She is survived by one daughter, June Flemmer, Minot; four sons and daughters-in-law, John and Marlene, Minot, Jerry and Shelia, Minot, David and April, Minot, and Billy and Margaret, Bismarck; 15 grandchildren, Debbie Trump, Kim Zaback, Brenda Demaree, Jan Abel, Dawn Godejohn, Sarah Collins, Andrew Demaree, Randy Joslin, Ross Joslin, Candis Rose, Tony Demaree, Jamie Demaree, Lisa Brittingham, Rebecca Demaree and Jay Demaree; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eunice Stevick, Minot; and three sisters-in-law, Gail Gaub, Wilma Williams and Violet Demaree. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Donna Demaree; two grandchildren, Rusty Joslin and Cheryl Ibarra; three sisters, Lucy Robinson, Mae Braucher and Gladys Whitson; and four brothers, Guy, Joe, Louie and William Matzdorf. The family prefers memorials to Congregational United Church of Christ. (Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot)

Clem F. Godes
DICKINSON -- Clem F. Godes, 66, Dickinson, died April 19, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at 11 a.m. CDT Tuesday. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; one son, Wyatt, Green Bay, Wis.; three daughters, Jodi Paulson, St. Helens, Ore., Laurie Zarak, South Heart, and Michele Svihovec, Bismarck; eight grandchildren; one sister, AnnaMary Conlon, Seattle; and three brothers, Reinhardt, Belfield, Nick, Colville, Wash., and Ervin, Dickinson. George N. Heiser
DICKINSON -- George N. Heiser, 86, Dickinson, died April 20, 2000, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Emil J. Hoerner
RICHARDTON -- Emil J. Hoerner, 83, Longmont, Colo., died April 16, 2000, in a Longmont hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Richardton, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church, where a wake service will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday. Emil was born July 25, 1916, at Richardton, to Michael and Eleanor (Stein) Hoerner. He was raised and Richardton and educated at St. Mary's Grade School and Assumption Abbey High School, where he graduated in 1935. He taught in a one-room country school north of Richardton for one year. The next years were spent operating the Mobil Oil bulk station in Halliday. In 1939 he married Pauline Zimmerman. They farmed west of Richardton. Pauline died in 1961. Emil married Cecilia Melchoir Schlosser in 1963. They continued farming near Richardton. Cecilia died in 1984. Emil led an active life, his favorite activities include hunting, fishing, working with wood and traveling. He met Delores Stoxen Verelius and resided in Renton, Wash. for the last 10 years. As of December 1999 he resided in Longmont. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Elks and Eagles. He is survived by one son, Gary, Denver; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Dr. George Warren III, Charleston, S.C., Jeannie and James Gotta, Denver, and Laura and Kenneth Woeste, Longmont; one step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Sharon and Richard O. Barry Jr., Dartmouth, Md.; and the daughters of Delores Stoxen Verelius and their spouses, Kay Verelius, Seattle, Doreen and Tom Tumblin, Renton, Wash., and Dayna and Scott Westcott, Renton, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, Val, Bismarck; and one sister, Nellie Kuch, Richland, Wash. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline, in 1961; his second wife, Cecilia; three sisters, Ann Berger, Eleanor Forster and Margaret Rummel; two brothers, Frederick and Peter; one great-grandchild; and his beloved companion, Delores Stoxen Verelius. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to St. Mary's Parish Church Renewal Campaign.

Pauline Kostelecky
DICKINSON -- Pauline Kostelecky, 97, Bismarck, formerly of Dickinson, died April 20, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Arleen A. Krein
WISHEK -- Arleen A. Krein, 63, Wishek, died April 19, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek, withburial in Wishek Cemetery. She is survived by four sisters, Alma Heupel, New Brighton, Minn., Erma Zavilowitz, Montrose, N.Y., and Marion Vossler and Eileen Ketterling, both of Wishek; and two brothers, Benjamin Burlack, Bismarck, and John Burlack, Marshal, Mo. (Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek)

Alvin John Moszer
Alvin John Moszer, 68, 102 Tuttle Ave., died April 17, 2000, in his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan, with military rites by Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 707 and American Legion Post 40. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services. Alvin Moszer was born April 10, 1932, in Linton, the son of Anton and Margaret (Baumgartner) Moszer. Alvin was raised in Strasburg until 1940, his family then moved to Drake. Alvin attended Drake High School, where he enjoyed playing on the varsity basketball team until the time he graduated in1951. After high school Alvin enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp where he served a three-year enlistment, two years of which he spent in South and Central Korea. Alvin received an honorable discharge in March 1954. On Jan. 8, 1955, Alvin and Delores were united in marriage in Los Angeles, Calif. They moved to Mandan in 1975. Alvin and his wife worked together owning and operating a business in the Bismarck-Mandan area. From 1979 to 1984, Alvin and Delores built several homes on Fourth St. N.E. in Mandan. Their enterprises included refinishing antique furniture, which was conducted out of their heated garage on Fourth St. A great source of pride for them was in 1980 when Casper's East 40, a five-star restaurant, contracted with them to restore/refinish all the oak tables and bar. Alvin and Delores managed the Bismarck Campground from 1986-1990. Their hospitality was extended to all who stayed there. They took great pride in keeping the facility clean saying, "it could always pass the white glove inspection." Alvin's last place of employment was with Mandan Park and Recreation Department, where he was assigned to the Prairie West Golf Course as head greens keeper. In the fall of the year, when the water was down, one of Al's favorite hobbies was collecting golf balls that golfers had hit into the water. If you lost a few golf balls at Prairie West, Al probably recovered them. Once the balls were recovered, he would take them home and wash them in the washing machine, once cleaned he would willingly give them to family and friends that liked to play golf. He even sold a few to Play-It-Again Sports. The greatest source of enjoyment and pride was his family and home. Alvin spent hours in the yard nurturing his flowers, roses, lilac bushes and evergreen tree. He enjoyed working outside making things grow. He was a very dedicated and loving individual. When Alvin took on a task you could be assured it was done with great pride and perfection. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Larry McMillan; one son, Michael Moszer Sr. and his fiancee, Lori Ihli, and step-daughter, Kali Sue Ihli; three grandchildren, Michael Moszer Jr., Tosha McMillan and Jason McMillan, all of Mandan; one brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Gladys Moszer, Fargo; one sister, Myra Wald, Auburn, Calif.; and three brothers-in-law, Donald W. and Charlotte Moser, McLaughlin, S.D., Calvin Hepper, Mobridge, S.D., and Raymond Moser, Duluth, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; his parents; one daughter, Linda Marie; and two sisters, Pat Erickson and Cecilia Miller.

Sharon Reum
PLAZA -- Sharon Reum, 52, Plaza, died April 18, 2000, in a Portland, Ore. hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Plaza school gym. Further arrangements are pending at Johnson Funeral Home, Parshall.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne; one daughter, Karen Braaten, Moorhead, Minn.; two sons, Richard, Aurora, Colo., and Terry, Thornton, Colo.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Norma Kuhn, Minot; and one brother, Michael Nilson, Minot.
