Laura Hazel Maixner, 84, Bismarck, formerly of New England, died April 22, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New England, with the Rev. Bill Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 5 to 7 p.m. MDT Thursday at the church, where a rosary will begin at 7 p.m., followed by a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Laura Steckman was born
Dec. 25, 1916, in Tappen, the daughter of George and Flossie (Gage) Steckman. She grew up and attended school in Tappen. She then attended Dickinson State Teacher's College, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught at Burleigh County rural schools, Flasher, Elgin and New England schools. Laura married
Richard Maixner Dec. 26, 1941, in Glendale, Calif. They farmed near Rainy Butte in Slope County since 1946. Laura served on the N.D. Social Service Board, the N.D. Council of Humanities and Public Issues Board and as Acting President of the N.D. Democratic Women. She was also active in the Red Cross, CowBelles and Altar Guild. She enjoyed her wedding cake business and produced many beautiful birthday cakes for her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Judy, Phoenix, Ariz., Rick and Wanda and Joe and Doni, all of Bismarck, Ed and Betsy, Falls Church, Va., and Frank and Louise, Minneapolis, Minn.; her daughters and sons-in-law, Fran Maixner, Scottsdale, Ariz., Laura and Steve Colberg, Bismarck, and Darcy and Swede Ostrom, Cumming, Ga.; 26 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Marie Schultz, Bismarck; and her brother, Bob Steckman, Omaha, Neb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and her brothers, Bill and Frank. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the American Heart Association or St. Mary's Cemetery, New England.

Marion (Meisner) Renner, 78, Englewood, Colo., formerly of Glen Ullin, died April 14, 2001, in Englewood. Services were held at St. Louis Catholic Church, Denver, Colo. Burial was in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver. She is survived by five children, Eydie, Chuck, Don, Mike and Jim; one brother, Ray; three sisters, Florence, Kathleen and Dodey; one brother-in-law, Tony Renner, Bismarck; and two sisters-in-law, Pauline Gustin, Mandan, and Rose Gustin, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Renner.

Pius Goetzfridt
NEW SALEM -- Pius A. Goetzfridt, 79, New Salem, entered into eternal life on April 24, 200, in the New Salem nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday at St. Pius Catholic Church, New Salem, with the Rev. David Zimmer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military graveside services by the John Repsdorf American Legion Post No. 91. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at the church where a St. Anthony Verein rosary will be said at 7:30 tonight, followed by a parish vigil. Pius was born
June 26, 1921, at Taylor, the son of Adam and Eleonora (Froelich) Goetzfridt. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and married
Monica Doll on Oct. 15, 1946. They lived in Dickinson and later, Wahpeton, where he attended Wahpeton State School of Science. They moved to New Salem, where Pius, a master electrician, owned New Salem Electric. In retirement, he was the Watkins representative. He is survived by his wife, Monica; eight daughters and seven sons-in-law, Gloria and Dennis Kunkel, New Salem, Terry and Andrew Leingang, Bismarck, Nancy Goetzfridt, New Salem, Diane and Bruce Huber, Hazen, Sheila and Dwight Huber, New Salem, Marie and Curtis Wetzel, Glen Ullin, Bernice and Kent Kremer, Wahpeton, and Angela and Allen Unruh, Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Rhonda, Bismarck; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four grandchildren; three brothers; his twin, John J., Ralph and Tony; and his sister, Emma Boespflug.

Edwin Moser in Lusk, Wyo. After traveling throughout many states, they settled in Steele for 16 years. In 1990 they moved to Bismarck. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards and especially spending time with her grandkids, family and friends. Shannon is survived by her husband, Edwin; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Darvin and Jenny Moser, and Larry Moser, all of Bismarck, and Bruce and Lynn Moser, Minot Air Force Base; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Keith Bonagofsky, Bismarck; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Leona and Clarence Arthur, Vernal, Utah, Betty Gophen, Terry, Mont., and Donna Murphy and Soleen Schott, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Virgil and Maria Schott, Mesa, Ariz., and Pete Schott, Casper, Wyo.; and nine grandchildren, Bridgit, Brandon, Benjamin, Brittany, Andrew, Ashlee, Austin, Brooke and Trestan.
