Myrtle C. Johnson
Funeral services for Myrtle C. Johnson, 89, Glyndon, MN were held on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at Maranatha Free Lutheran Church, Glyndon. Mrs. Johnson died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at Sunnyside Care Center, rural Lake Park, MN.
Myrtle Christine Versdahl, daughter of Herman and Anna (Ekre) Versdahl, was born on August 28, 1916, in rural Wyndmere, where she grew up and received her education. She worked for a few years at the Sears and Robuck store in Fargo.
On July 14, 1940, she married Lloyd Johnson in Fargo. The couple began farming near Enderlin, and later bought a farm near Walcott. In 1960 they purchased a dairy farm near Glyndon. They retired in 1976. After Lloyd died in 1996, she moved to the Sunnyside Care Center.
She is survived by three sons, Larry (Janet), Kensington, MD, Lynn, Washington DC, and Walter, Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Oscar (Ruth) Versdahl, Wahpeton; one sister, Helen (Wally) Charlson, Belle Fourche, SD; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, and one daughter, Marian Ahles.
Interment at Helendale Lutheran Cemetery, rural Leonard, ND.

Wendi Magstadt
Funeral services for Wendi Magstadt, 39, Jamestown, were held on December 20, 2005, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown. Rev. Thomas Eckstein officiated. She died Saturday, December 17, 2005, at her home in Jamestown.
Wendi Joy Magstadt, daughter of Marvin and LaVonne (Moan) Magstadt was born on April 21, 1966 at Sidney, MT. She moved with her parents to Wimbledon, ND in 1967, and later to Jamestown where she attended the Jamestown schools. Wendi worked as a waitress in both Fargo and Jamestown and later worked for Dynamics Marketing and Subway in Jamestown.
In June, 1991, she married David Disrud in Fargo.
She is survived by three daughters, Heather Disrud, Fargo, Taylor Anderson, Enderlin, and Hanna Magstadt, Jamestown; one son, Phillip Disrud, Fargo; her mother, LaVonne, Jamestown; and three sisters, Becky Magstadt, Terri (Doug) Orr, and Kim (Randy) Weatherly, all of Jamestown. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin, one brother, Deron, and her grandparents.

Dr. L.L. Wiltse
Dr. L.L. Wiltse, 92, Carmel, CA, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005. He is a brother of Wilna Schulz, Lisbon. Full obituary in next week’s Gazette.
Francis Utke
Funeral services for Francis Utke, 95, Fargo, were held on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Boulger Funeral Home Chapel. She died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo.
Francis Utke was born on May 3, 1910 in Enderlin. She attended school in the Enderlin area. Francis lived at home until January, 1946 when she entered Grafton State Hospital. In 1969 she moved to San Haven. She had lived at Fraser Hall, Fargo since May, 1986.
Interment at Springvale Cemetery, Fargo.

Gweneth Hamilton
A memorial service for Gweneth Hamilton, 66, Minot, was held on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005 at Trinity Homes, Minot. She died Thursday, Dec. 15 in a Minot nursing home.
Gweneth Hamilton, daughter of Thomas and Marjorie (Curfman) Hamilton was born on July 17, 1939, at Rugby, ND. She graduated from Rugby High School in 1957. Gweneth attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority and accompanied the Varsity Bards, a UND men’s choir. She was a member of Delta Psi Kappa, an honorary group of women in physical education. Horses were Gwen’s passion. She was a regular participant at the Pierce County Horse Show while attending UND, and she spent three summers as a horse wrangler in a mountain camp in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Upon graduation from UND in 1961, Gwen taught high school at the Jefferson County District in Kittredge, CO.
During her first year there, she was a passenger in a motor vehicle accident in which she sustained a severe head injury from which she never fully recovered. After her accident she lived with and was cared for by her mother, Marjorie, in Denver, CO, where she worked for a time as a volunteer at the Swedish Hospital. Gwen and her mother moved to Fargo where she and her mother worked in a daycare and a cleaning service. They later moved to Minot where Gwen was admitted to the Trinity Nursing Home.
She is survived by brothers, Mark (Penny) Hamilton, Minot, and Tom Hamilton, Lisbon; sister, Marsha (Wayne) Smogaurd, Fargo; uncle, Aldon Curfman, Hickory, NC; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Shirley Nelson.
Honorary pallbearers were her family and friends.

Sibyl Mae Cavett
Sibyl Mae Cavett, 94, died at Lisbon Area Health Services on January 28, 2006. Sibyl was a life long resident of the Lisbon and Enderlin areas.
Sibyl was born November 9, 1911 in Lisbon, ND to John and Minnie (Gunderson) Hitchcock. She grew up in the rural Enderlin area and went to the Liberty Consolidated School and graduated from Lisbon High School.
On November 9, 1935 she married Alden Cavett of rural Enderlin and they spent the next 68 years on their farm in Moore Township. Alden passed away in 2003 and Sibyl moved to Beverly Anne Assisted Living in Lisbon.
A gracious hostess, Sibyl’s kitchen was always a source of good food and friendship for everyone who visited the farm. Her concern and care for all was obvious, and she was always the first to coordinate a family picnic, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Sibyl was an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting until her eyes failed her. The quiet spirit, love of family and interest in the world around her made Sibyl a person who will be missed by family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Lowell) Duval, rural Lisbon; three sons, Curtis, Mitchell, SD, Gary (Sue), Fargo, Keith (Trudy), rural Nome; two daughters-in-law, Carmen Cavett, Lisbon and Lynn Cavett, rural Enderlin; niece, Marilyn Stram, Lisbon; two brothers, Bud (Margaret), Mesa, AZ, Wayne (Inez), Minneapolis, MN; sister, Edlyn (Don) Larson, Ellsworth, WI; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Burns, Bismarck and Evelyn Hitchcock, Lisbon; 24 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren.
Sibyl was preceded in death by her parents, John and Minnie Hitchcock, husband Alden, son Kenneth, three brothers, Maynard Hitchcock, Lisbon, Kermit Hitchcock, Kenneth (infant) Hitchcock, and sister Elaine (Oscar) Dahl.
Visitation: Tuesday from 1 to 8 at Armstrong Funeral Home. Family will be present from 6 to 8, and would enjoy visiting with friends at that time.
Funeral on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Lisbon Armory, Lisbon, ND. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
Ellen C. Hagen
Funeral services for Ellen C. Hagen, 90, Pelican Rapids, MN, were held on Saturday, Jan. 28, at Grove Lake Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids. Rev. Ken Vollmers officiated. Mrs. Hagen died January 25, 2006, at Lisbon Area Health Services, Lisbon, ND.
Ellen C. Hagen, daughter of Edward and Emma (Starr) Haugerud, was born on January 15, 1916 at rural Balfour, ND. She attended school in rural Pelican Rapids, and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School.
On January 1, 1939, she married Clinton Hagen in rural Pelican Rapids. They farmed near Pelican Rapids. Ellen also worked at Dunvilla, MN for a few summers. In 2003 they moved into Pelican Rapids. Ellen was a member of Grove Lake Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids.
She is survived by her husband, Clinton, Pelican Rapids;three sons, David (Lynne), Pelican Rapids, Mark (Carol), Pipestone, MN, and Clyde (Cindy), Moorhead, MN; two daughters, Carol (Darrell) Odegaard, Lisbon, Margaret (Marvin) Bloomgren, Minneapolis, MN; one brother, Neil (Lois), St. Louis Park, MN; one sister, Doris (Melvin) Anderson, Minot, ND; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles, and two brothers, Marion Haugerud and Curtis Haugerud.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Jeffrey Hagen, John Hagen, Dave Hagen, Steven Hagen, Travis Hagen, Adam Pederson, Brennan Bell, Robert Johnson, and Greg Fahrendorff.
Connie (Odegaard) Radcliffe, Lisbon, ND, and Doreen (Odegaard) Schultz, Winter Springs, FL, the oldest grandchildren, gave the eulogy in tribute to their grandmother Ellen’s life. They read selected poems that Ellen had written throughout her life, that depicted her life with her family, her life in the country, and her faith in God.
Music was provided by organist Helen Johnson. Jeffrey Hagen provided special music with several selections of gospel hymns.
Interment at Grove Lake Lutheran Cemetery, rural Pelican Rapids.

Roy C. Steinhaus
Funeral services for Roy C. Steinhaus, 85, rural Crary, ND, were held on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake, ND. Rev. Jamie Desai officiated. Mr. Steinhaus died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at his home in rural Crary.
Roy Clifford Steinhaus, son of Frank J. and Emma (Bachman) Steinhaus, was born on October 3, 1920, in Ramsey County, near Southam, ND. He graduated from Crary High School and Mayville Teacher’s College, and taught at Selfridge, ND.
On July 25, 1942, he married Alvina Bartram at Devils Lake. They made their home in Ramsey County on various farms until they bought their home near Crary. In later years, they spent winters in Arizona. Roy held several positions on the church council of First Lutheran Church of Crary, and also taught Sunday School there. He was a member of the Ramsey County Social Services Board for almost twenty-five years.
Roy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alvina; one daughter, Sharon Brien, Crary; three sons, Curtis, Crary, ND, Clark (Lois), Devils Lake, ND, and Conrad (Cheryl), Lisbon, ND; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Duane Roy; one granddaughter; one son-in-law, Edgar Brien; four brothers, Everett, Irvin, Lester, and Clarence, and two sisters, Elvira Wagar and Margaret Anderson.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Dennis Brien, Jeff Steinhaus, Jeremy Steinhaus, Terry Steinhaus, Ryan Steinhaus, and Brad Steinhaus.
Honorary Pallbearers were Heidi Bye, Sonia Knutson, Michele Morse, Jill Steinhaus, Kristi Bartz, Melissa Steinhaus, Jenny Steinhaus, Erin Steinhaus, Bob Bye, Ron Knutson, Jon Morse, and Mike Bartz.
Interment at Crary Cemetery, Crary, ND.
