George Block, 91, 114 N. Third St., Bismarck, died Oct. 9, 2000 in a local hospital. Arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Bruce Fischer
Bruce Fischer, 57, formerly of Bismarck, drowned Sept. 28, 2000 in a boating accident in the Gulf of Mexico. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at Church of the Ascension, Bismarck. Bruce was born icon on Jan. 14, 1943 in Bismarck, the son of Peter and Patricia (Maddock) Fischer. Bruce is survived by his wife, Faye; three daughters, Tayna, Tashia and Tricia; one son, Brandon; and four stepchildren, Otto, Sherry, David and Ray; four brothers, Robert and Rose Fischer, California, Bill and Karen, Minneapolis, Brad, Minneapolis, Bryan, Fargo, and a sister, Colleen and LeRoy Feist, Bismarck.

Arnold Gravos
WATFORD CITY -- Arnold Gravos, 88, Watford City, died Oct. 4, 2000 in the Watford City hospital. Services were held on Oct. 9 at Wilmington Lutheran Church and burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery, rural Arnegard. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; two sons, Alvin, Watford City, and LeRoy, Williston; three daughters, Carol Norgard, Arnegard, Geraldine Wilson, Mobile, Ala., and Colleen Wendling, Washington Courthouse, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; and one brother, Armand, Watford City. WILLISTON -- Arvie Herreid, 77, Williston, died Oct. 8, 2000 in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at First Lutheran Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Alvera; one son, Glenn, Germantown, Tenn.; one stepson, Terry Hammond, Williston; daughters, Lana Ensrud, Brooklyn Park, Minn., Patti Ogurchak and Jill Herreid, both of Williston; one stepdaughter, Trudy Herreid, Williston; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is survived by his sons, Kevin, Brookings, S.D., and Michael, rural Denhoff; one granddaughter; his mother, Christine Hoffman, rural Denhoff; and one sister, Caroline Bromley, Stillwell, Kan. He is survived by his wife, Vivian; five sons, Maynard, Elizabeth, Colo., Arlen, Faith, S.D., Merle, Shadehill, S.D., Larry, Glad Valley, and Marty, Loveland, Colo.; one daughter, Nadine Bellington, Brighton, Colo.; 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Roy, Bison, S.D., Francis, Shadehill, and Leo, Hooker, Okla.; and four sisters, Angeline Binson, Globe, Ariz., Alice Hokel, Bowman, Veronica Barone, Newtown, Veronica Barone, New Town, and Betty Rhodes, Pasco, Wash. Frank Schmidt
GLEN ULLIN -- Frank Schmidt, 87, Glen Ullin, died Oct. 8, 2000, in a Glen Ullin care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Wednesday, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Hebron, with the Rev. Francis dos Remedios, OSB officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation begins after 4 p.m. MDT today at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Hebron, with a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. MDT tonight at the church. Frank Schmidt was born icon on Jan. 10, 1913 in Glen Ullin to Jacob and Anna (Glass) Schmidt. He was raised and educated in rural Hebron. He married icon Loretta Gauer on June 28, 1937 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin. Following their marriage, they farmed with his parents until he bought his own farm in 1941. Frank and Loretta farmed until they retired and moved into Hebron in 1994, where he had resided until spring of this year, when he entered the Marian Manor in Glen Ullin. He was past rural fire district board member. He is survived by his wife, Loretta; one daughter, Janet (Delbert) Hellman, Williston; three sons, Walter, Hebron, Clifford (Joyce), Hebron, and Jerry (Roberta), Bismarck; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, John, Bismarck, Conrad, Wadena, Minn., Carl, Gray Eagle, Minn., and one sister, Elsie McCart, Seattle, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Henry, Jack and Nick. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron)

Gloria R. Steele
Gloria R. Steele, 62, Bismarck, died Oct. 6, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Burnie Kunz officiating. Burial will be in Center Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour before services. Gloria R. was born icon June 15, 1938, in Mandan, the daughter of Vernon and Opal (Middlesteader) Steele. She was raised in Center and attended school there. She attended RD Hairstyling School in Bismarck and was once married icon to Bill Werre. She worked in Underwood and owned her own beauty shop in Wilton. She was employed at Seven Seas in Mandan. Gloria loved sprint car racing, was a fan of Donny Schatz, played bingo and loved watching horse racing. She was a former member of Women of the Moose. Gloria is survived by her daughter, Billie Jo Werre; and one brother, LeRoy Steele, both of Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Gustav Baesler
NEW LEIPZIG -- Gustav Baesler, 95, New Leipzig, died Oct. 10, 2000, in the Elgin hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m MDT Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Leipzig, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by two sons, Leo and LeRoy, both of New Leipzig; three daughters, Diana Maier, Mott, Elaine Rokusek, Fargo, and Lester McCullough, Elgin; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ervin, Phoenix, Ariz.; and four sisters, Freda Sprecher, New Leipzig, Milinda Sprecher, Newburg, Ore., Ella Aherns, Portland, Ore., and Wilhelmina Sandau, Stockton, Calif.
