Greg S. Schlabsz
Greg S. Schlabsz, 41, Bismarck, died Nov. 27, 2000 at his home of natural causes. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Faith Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Joel Sherer officiating. Burial will take place at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Greg was born
on Feb. 4, 1959 in Bismarck, the parents of Clarence and Shirley (Lang) Schlabsz. Greg enjoyed spending time with his friends joking around and singing karaoke. He enjoyed watching professional wrestling, Star Trek and loved to drink coffee, eating pizza and sleeping. Greg was very affectionate and could always brighten your day with his smile. Greg is survived by his mother, Shirley; one sister, Gale and husband, Cordell, Bismarck; his brothers, Neal and wife Karen, Bismarck, and Jerome, Sauk Rapids, Minn.; his grandparents, Ben and Katie Lang, Ashley; and special friends, Sterling Two Shields, Bismarck, Marie Dorscher, Bismarck, and the staff at Home and Pride Industries. She is survived by two daughters, Esther Tripp, Pettibone, and Loretta Halverson, Tappen; and a son Lawrence, Jamestown; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothea Guthmiller and Katherine Walz, both of Jamestown, and Bertha Remmick, Wishek; and one brother, Andrew Martin, Bismarck. HANNOVER -- Tobias Weber, 91, Hannover, died Nov. 28, 2000 in the Beulah care center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. CST Friday, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Hannover with the Rev. Toby Weber was born
on Nov. 1, 1909 at Kenegas, Russia, a son of Andrew and Katherina (Roth) Weber. He came to the United States with his family in 1911, and they lived at Zap and the Beulah area, before moving to the Otter Creek area. He was baptized on Nov. 14, 1909, and was confirmed on March 5, 1925. On Nov. 7, 1937, Toby married
Agnes Schuh at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah. They purchased a farm two miles from his parents' home and lived together there for over 50 years. Toby still owns this farm. Agnes passed away in March of 1988. Toby lived in New Salem for a few years and has been a resident of the Knife River Care Center in Beulah for the last several years. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Al and Cheryl Weber, Belle Fourche, S.D.; one daughter and son-in-law, Bea and Mel Roth, Hazen; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie and Julius Buchmann, Beulah, Lorraine Sturn, New Salem, and Eleanore and Arden Gappert, Stanton; and special friend, Mabel Hintz, New Salem. Toby was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Agnes; a daughter, Jeanette; his brothers, John, Matt, William and Erwin; his sisters, Kathryn Joersz, Frieda Bauer, and Bertha Roth. Leo J. Eckroth, 94, Mandan, died Nov. 29, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Leonard Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday, with a parish vigil and rosary said at 7 p.m. that evening. on April 9, 1906 in Mandan, the son of Gabriel and Appalonia (Brown) Eckroth. He was raised and attended school in Mandan. He married
Lillian Froelich on July 24, 1928 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a call boy for the railroad, a mechanic and a truck driver. He and Lillian owned and operated the Owl Club until 1949. He and Alex Froelich owned and operated A & L Oil Company and A & L Excavating. He retired in 1970 and Lillian died on Oct. 3, 1990. Leo was the last surviving member of the Charter Members of the Mandan Lions Club, where he was still active. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Mandan Elks. He loved gardening and was known for his big onions. He hunted until he was 88 and also enjoyed fishing, woodcarving, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Dorismae Johnson, Mandan; five grandchildren, Barbara Myhre, Thomas P. Johnson, Mary Ellen Bitz, Arthur Leo Johnson and Susan Rask and her husband, Craig; 10 great-grandchildren and one brother and sister-in-law, W. Joseph and Alvina Eckroth, Hague. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; his son-in-law, Donald P. Johnson; his great-granddaughter, Jessica Bitz; and four brothers, John, Michael, Andrew and Paul.
