He is survived by three sons, Orval, Williston, Arvid, Minneapolis, and Allan, Burlington, Colo.; two daughters, Ruth Ike, Williston, and Eunice Van Druff, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Palmer, Rochester, Minn., and Kenneth, Minneapolis; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-great-grandchildren. Joanna E. Lipp, 84, Bismarck, died Nov. 18, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Rev. Charles Heidt officiating. Dec. 1, 1915, in Emmons County, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary (Horner) Rahrich. She was raised in the St. Michael's area. She married
John Lipp on Jan. 10, 1939, at St. Michael's. They farmed south of Napoleon, and later near Braddock. In 1954, they moved to Bismarck. Joanna was employed by Sweetheart Bakery for a number of years. John died in 1983. Joanna was a past member of the Altar Society at St. Katherine's Catholic Church, Braddock, Homemakers Club and Catholic Daughters. Family was important to Joanna and she enjoyed cooking and sewing, especially for her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Viola Ressler, and Elaine and Joe Mathern, all of Bismarck; five sisters, Della Franklin, Portland, Ore., Barbara Rahrich, Braddock, Viola Rahrich, Minneapolis, Ann Johnson, Corning, Calif., and Lillian Hennessey, Reno, Nev.; five brothers, Eugene Rahrich and Wendelin Rahrich, both of Bismarck, Myron Rahrich, Braddock, Allen Rahrich and Richard Rahrich, both of Portland, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Edwin Skager
Edwin Skager, 76, Bismarck, died Nov. 17, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Bismarck Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don Burnett officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services today. Edwin was born
June 29, 1924, in Oliver County, the son of Frank and Bessie Skager (Koester), long time farmers in Oliver County. Edwin was a life-long resident of North Dakota. In his span of years, he was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Philippine Liberation. During his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Award, Philippine LIberation Combat Infantry Badge, and Asiatic Pacific Ribbon. He was also a member of the 25th Division, and technician fifth grade sergeant. After his discharge from the service, Edwin taught rural school. He also worked in food service, where he spent many years. He worked at various restaurants and was a food service supervisor for 10 years at the Baptist Home. He worked for a number of years for McDowell's Big Boy, managing the KFC store on Sixth st. in Bismarck. He was also an LPN, graduating with the class of April 1950. Edwin married
Ella Schlittenhardt on Aug. 28, 1956, in Bismarck. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Bismarck Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Ella; one daughter, Brenda Bosch and Jeff Carr; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Wendy, and Brad and Laura; seven grandchildren, Scott, Tyler, Casey, Jeremy, Kari, Riley and Gena; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Astrid Cook, Lola Holznagel, Lela and John Hohbein, and Tom and Donna Dick; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Ruth, and Alvin and Linda; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and one grandson.

Martha Vetter
RICHARDTON -- Martha Vetter, 94, Richardton, died Nov. 19, 2000 in the Richardton care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Wednesday, at First Baptist Church, Hebron, with the Rev. David Ling officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. MST today at Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Martha was born
on Feb. 23, 1906 in rural Hebron, the daughter of Christ and Magdalena (Geisler) Heinle. She was raised and educated in rural Hebron. She worked on the family farm until her marriage to Rudolph Vetter on Oct. 25, 1930 in Missoula, Mont. Following their marriage, the couple farmed for many years south of Hebron. In 1946, they moved into Hebron. Martha enjoyed her garden and loved working with flowers. On Jan. 1, 1953, she professed her faith, was baptized and joined the First Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday School and Bible school teacher for many years. Martha was also involved with the Women's Missionary Guild. In later years, Martha did handiwork to keep busy. Rudolph died on Jan. 18, 1986. Martha moved to the Richardton Healthcare center earlier this year. She is survived by one son, Roger Vetter, Hebron; and two brothers, Bob Heinle, Seattle, Wash., and Albert Heinle, Missoula, Mont. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and three brothers. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron)

HAZEN -- Amanda Weigum, 94, Hazen, died Nov. 19, 2000 in the Glen Ullin nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Wednesday, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with the Rev. Walt Wolff officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. MST today at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen. Oct. 28, 1906 at Manhaven, a daughter of Rosina (Sayler) and John Neuberger, Sr. On June 27, 1926, she married
Jacob Weigum at Krem. They lived and farmed 18 miles northwest of Hazen until they retired and moved into Hazen in 1968. Jacob died on June 13, 1989. On Feb. 28, 1995, Amanda became a resident of the Marian Manor Nursing Home, Glen Ullin. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen. Amanda loved sewing, quilting, crocheting, baking and gardening. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and was well known for her homemade buns and kuchen. She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Rogean and Edwin Mattheis, Hazen, Wilma and Ray Tesky, Hazen, Ardella and Wilbert Heidt, Bismarck, Dorine and Roland Wiedrich, Mandan, and Luella and Dalton Richter, Hazen; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one brother, Reinhold Neuberger, Beulah. Amanda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jacob; one sister, five brothers and eight half-brothers and two half-sisters. (Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen)
