Joseph Fried
Joseph Fried, 88, 1603 Ninth Avenue NW, Mandan, died July 1, 2000 in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Dan Berg officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. Wednesday at Weigel Funeral Home. A Christian Mothers' Rosary will be said at 4 p.m., a Moose Ritual at 6:30 p.m., a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m., a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m. and a St. Vincent Verein Rosary at 8 p.m., all on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Joseph Fried was born on June 5, 1912 in Mandan, the son of Jacob and Eva (Aman) Fried. He was raised and educated in Crown Butte. On Nov. 7, 1938, he married Ida Roller in Sheffield. Joseph farmed northwest of Mandan until his retirement in 1975 in which he raised grain and cattle. After his retirement, he and his wife moved into Mandan. Joseph enjoyed socializing with members and friends. His involvement with community included membership in the Moose and Eagles Club, the St. Vincent Verein, Knights of Columbus and Golden Age. His interests were many and varied, bowling and playing cards were part of his indoor activities. Dancing and listening to old time music was very relaxing for him. But most of all he cherished the time being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Ida; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sandra, Austin, Texas; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Marcy Schmidt, Fargo, Clare and George Schmidt, West Fargo, Rita and Jim Latham, Edina, Minn., Madonna and Wally Steckler, Mandan, and Linda and Myron Berreth, Mandan; 24 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; one brother, Peter and Margaret Fried, Mandan; and two sisters, Sister Ralphine Fried, Bismarck, and Sister Clement Fried, Duluth, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Timothy; two brothers, Ralph and Jerome; and three sisters, Odelia, Clementine and Sister Lucilda; and one grandson, Grant Kaatz. Barbara Ann Hanson
Barbara Ann Hanson passed away at home with her family on July 2, 2000 from pancreatic cancer at a very young age of 55. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Joel Sherer officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue at 4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church where a prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. There will be visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Barb was born to Elmer and Charlotte Johnson on March 12, 1945 in Powers Lake. She attended school and graduated from high school in Ray. She then attended Jack's Hair Design in Bismarck. Barb married Jerry Hanson on Jan. 2, 1965 and they resided in Bismarck. Barb planted many seeds of kindness and grew gardens of friends. Her loving and helpful ways will be missed dearly by all her family and friends. Barb was employed by Dayton's and worked in the cosmetics department for the past several years. Barb loved people! Barb is survived by her husband, Jerry L. Hanson, Bismarck; her children, Tissa and Alden Dauenhauer, Bismarck, Michael Hanson, Fargo, Kara Hanson and her special friend Dan Wahlman, both of Bismarck; her precious grandchildren, Chase, Justin, Sierra and Alexander Dauenhauer, and Katlyn Hanson-Brandt, all of Bismarck; her mother, Charlotte Johnson, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and two sisters, Karen Ouren and her husband, Ron, and Kathy Hlebichuk and her husband, Mike, all of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Gregory Quentin Hennenfent
Gregory Quentin Hennenfent, 49, Bismarck, died July 1, 2000 at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Robert Lynne officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday, at Eastgate Funeral Service, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Greg was born March 29, 1951 at Minot, the son of Quentin Francis and Lorraine Joyce (Moger) Hennenfent. He was raised and educated at Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1969. Greg attended Minot State College until transferring to the University of North Dakota in 1971. He was awarded his Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1977 from UND, and completed his internal medicine residency program with the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Fargo. Licensed to practice medicine in both the states of North Dakota and Minnesota, Dr. Hennenfent was affiliated with St. John's Hospital in Fargo and St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead, Minn., prior to joining Mid Dakota Clinic in January of 1983 in Bismarck. He was a specialist in Internal Medicine, and did sub-specialty work in the care of diabetics. On Dec. 26, 1995, Greg married Carleen Jensen in Bismarck. Greg demonstrated a great deal of devotion, support and appreciation within this union. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and many good friends. Greg is survived by his wife, Carleen, Bismarck; his father, Quentin, Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Nick, Annapolis, Md., and Brandon, Bismarck; four daughters, Jocelyn, Arkansas, Vanessa and Chelsey, both of Texas, and Dawn, Fargo; his two brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian and Toni Hennenfent and their daughter, Heather, Minot, and Mark and Susan Hennenfent, San Diego, Calif.; his niece, Carrie Van Dyke; his grandson, Kaelen Reedy; his mother-in-law, Eileen Sizemore, Mandan; two uncles, Doug Hennenfent and his wife, Arlene, New Hope, Minn., and Cyril Hennenfent, Riverdale; his great-aunt, Fritzi Ruckman; and many cousins, especially Debbie Miller. Willis Charles Jennings
Willis Charles "W.C." Jennings, 77, formerly of Bismarck, died June 29, 2000 at his home in Minneapolis. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Osseo Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Fort Snelling Veterans Cemetery, Minneapolis. He is survived by four children, Robyn Elaine Jennings, Wauconda, Ill., Jonathan, Bozeman, Mont., Jeremy, Devils Lake, and Joel, St. Augustine, Fla.; seven grandchildren and one brother.

Lorraine Pfost
Lorraine Pfost, 65, formerly of Beulah, died June 9, 2000 in Sacramento, Calif. of natural causes. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at Dave Boeckel Cemetery, adjacent to the Beulah Cemetery. Lorraine was born Jan. 8, 1934 in the Oliver-Mercer County area to Jonathan and Emma (Unruh) Fischer. She was raised and educated in the Beulah area. She became a registered psychiatric technician and had worked at the Sutter Health Center in Sacramento until she retired at age 58. Lorraine enjoyed animals and had many pets throughout her life. She is survived by her brother, Clarence Fischer, Pueblo, Colo.; a half-sister, Wilma; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Pfost; and her parents. No memorials or gifts are requested.
Debra A. Silbernagel
Debra A. Silbernagel, 42, Bismarck, died July 2, 2000 after a short battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at First United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Dom Vetter and Walter Schott officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Public visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Debra, Debbie as she liked to be called, was born April 5, 1958 in Bismarck, the daughter of Norman and Norma (Keator) Kienzle. She was raised and educated in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1976. She married Larry Silbernagel on June 3, 1977. She worked at Kirkwood Osco as a pharmacy tech for many years. In 1997, she started full time at St. Alexius Medical Center as a pharmacy tech, while still working at Osco Drug two nights a week, where she still worked until she became ill in early June. She overcame a bout with cancer in the 1980's being declared cancer free in 1988. While she was sick the first time, she always prayed that God would let her live to watch her two boys grow up. God granted her that prayer and even blessed her with a grandson, little Adam, who was her pride and joy. Debbie had a heart of gold like no one else. She always went out of her way, no matter what the sacrifice, to help anyone that came to her. She called herself "The Cake Lady" and everyone said she had the best tasting cake they had ever had. If anyone in Heaven likes cake, they sure became blessed when the angels came and took her to her new eternal home. On Nov. 18, 1984, Debbie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Her main goal in life was to serve God and she did that by loving and helping her family and friends in anyway she could. She continued making people laugh and touching hearts until she took her last breath. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Larry; two sons, Christopher and Jesse, Bismarck, Chris' fiancee, Jesi Shanley; her grandson, Adam; her parents, Norman and Norma, Bismarck; her grandmother, Ruth Keator, Bismarck; one brother and sister-in-law, Dirk and Holly Kienszle; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and Don Fischer, Hazen, Tami and Clay Volz, Mesa, Ariz.; her mother-in-law, Loretta Brady, Bismarck; two sisters-in-law, Laura Silbernagel and friend Heidi Senger, Minneapolis, Susan and Delton Heid, Bismarck; one brother-in-law, Don and Pam Silbernagel, Glendive, Mont.; many nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Maggie Schraeder, Bisamrck.
