Eva H. Myhre
Eva H. Myhre, 96, Sun City, Ariz., went to her rest on July 8, 2000, in Sun City. She was the beloved wife of Elmer T. Myhre; the loving mother of Robert D. Myhre, Alamo, Calif., Patrick J. Myhre, Boise, Idaho, and Jan E. Ryan, Phoenix; the devoted grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of 10. She and her husband owned and operated Commercial Service Co. in Bismarck from 1940 to 1972. She served as the worthy matron of Eastern Star and as grand conductress and worthy grand matron of Eastern Star for North Dakota. She was an avid duplicate bridge player and earned life master status while playing in both local and national tournaments. Eva Harriet Newton was born Nov. 12, 1903, on the family farm in Cass County where her father served as a county commissioner. The family moved to Bismarck in the early 1920s where she met and married Elmer. They moved to Sun City in the fall of 1976. She continued playing duplicate bridge at least three to four times a week until a year ago. Her favorite other pastimes were crocheting, knitting, needlepoint and quilting. For many years she knit bandages for the lepers. She has two surviving sisters, Betty Maddock, Sun City, and Joyce Akason, Edina, Minn. In the last months of her life she was visited and cared for by her children and both sisters. Her surviving family members love her dearly and will miss her greatly. "May she now rest in peace forever, beside her beloved Elmer."

DICKINSON -- Beverly Northrop, 68, Dickinson, died July 16, 2000, in the Dickinson hospital. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. MDT Wednesday at Belfield Lutheran Church, with inurnment at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Medora Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Ward; four sons, Walter, Wade and Blaine, all of Belfield, and Wynn, Dickinson; one brother, Donald Steigen, Fairfield; two sisters, Phyllis Wyckoff, Beach, and Doris Myers, Frazee, Minn.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Edsel; four sons, Dennis Morris, Okanogan, Wash., Joseph Morris and Ronald Morris, both of Detroit Lakes, and Roger Morris, Fargo; three daughters, Gloria Janke, Omaha, Neb., Geraldine Kautzman, Mandan, and Barbara Wilke, Detroit Lakes; one stepson, Timothy Sanden, Moorhead; 19 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Garross, Washington; and two sisters, Dorothy Howe, Bismarck, and Margaret Garross, California. Ann M. Skiftun
Ann M. Skiftun, 85, Bismarck, formerly of Mandan, died July 16, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will begin at 7 tonight. Ann M. Manolovitz, the daughter of Matt and Anne (Schank) Manolovitz was born March 19, 1915, in Sheffield. She was raised and educated in the Selfridge area. On April 23, 1934, she married Oswald Skiftun in Solen. After her marriage, she and Oswald operated a sheep ranch near Breien. In the late 1960s, Oswald and Ann sold their sheep ranch and took an extended trip to Norway. When they returned from their trip they moved to Mandan. Ann belonged to TOPS where she was a member since 1964. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Rosemary Skiftun, Meridian, Idaho; two daughters and one son-in-law, Martha and Frank Bernhardt, Lemoore, Calif., and Carol Hone, Bonnie Lake, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Fran Manolovitz, Bismarck; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Katie Mathern, Bismarck, Lorraine and Lawrence Kahl, Mandan, and Delores and Edward Telin, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oswald, who died July 4, 1995; five brothers, Fred, Adam, Matt, Pete and Paul; and one sister, Eva Kreitel. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.

Cleopatra Creamer
Cleopatra Britton Creamer of 106 Grand View Ave., San Francisco, Calif. passed away July 9, 2000 at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital after a short illness. She was born May 18, 1914 to Dr. John Britton and wife Martha Lauerman Britton of New Salem, where her parents were early settlers. Dr. Britton was New Salem's dentist and Martha Britton, a nurse, delivered 500 babies at her home, for New Salem and the surrounding area. These babies were commonly call "Britton Babies." Visitation was held at the Arthur J. Sullivan and Company Funeral Home, 2254 Market Street, San Francisco, on July 22 and 23 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. On Monday, July 24, a funeral service was held at the Arthur J. Sullivan Funeral Home. Visitation was from 1-2 with the service immediately following. Services will be accorded by the Rev. Mary True of Unity Church of Petaluma. The Rosicrucian Fellowship, Oceanside, Calif., will also be having a memorial and prayer service for Cleopatra at their headquarters. Cleopatra, called by her friends as Cleo, graduated from New Salem High School and a School of Cosmetology in Minneapolis, where she also owned and operated a salon. Later, she moved to San Francisco with her first husband, I.C. Wold also of North Dakota. Following her divorce she worked for the Kaisers War Industries during World War II and later married a Mr. "Red" Creamer. She owned and maintained "Gum Ball" machines on the streets of San Francisco. After her divorce, she concentrated on owning rental properties and their maintenance. Cleo was well known as the cashier at the Moor's Cafeteria where she worked until it closed. During these ensuing years, she maintained a wide range of interests. She was an avid supporter of animal rights and feline care. Her pet cats were an important part of her life. Her studies included astrology, world religions, Christianity, reincarnation and metaphysics. She traveled extensively worldwide. Cleopatra was preceded in death by her father, Dr. John Britton; her mother, Martha Britton; her sister, Georgiana Britton and brother John Britton. She is survived by her only first cousin, Phyllis Lauerman Wilken of Kankakee, Ill. Cleopatra will be laid to rest in New Salem at the Graceland Cemetery. A graveside service will be held at Graceland Cemetery, on Friday, July 28, at 10 a.m. MDT. Officiating will be by the Rev. Loren Strum of Zion Lutheran Church. Friends are welcome. Doris Hayden
Doris Hayden, 73, Bismarck, died July 24, 2000 of natural causes in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. David Swonger officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Public visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday, at Boelter Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. She was born Feb. 12, 1927, the daughter of Theodore and Estella (Packard) Christensen. Doris married Gary J. Hayden on March 17, 1950 in Bismarck. Doris and Gary owned and operated Parkview Mobile Home Estates in Bismarck where they raised their three children, Owen, Cameron and Sharon. She devoted her life to her children, and will always be remembered for the compassion she had for her family and friends. In later years, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Doris is survived by one son, Cameron, Bismarck; one daughter, Sharon Pederson, Rapid City, S.D.; six grandchildren, Clint and Lance Hayden, Grand Forks, Doug Hogue, Rapid City, Amber Pederson, Rapid City, Jessica and Kati Hayden, Bismarck. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruby Norton, New Salem, Cora Retz, Oregon, and Beulah Luchsinger, Oregon; and her younger brother, Vernon Christensen, Washington. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; her first son, Owen; and her brother, Wayne. The family prefers memorials to the House of Prayer Lutheran Church. (Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck)
Martha Hieb
Martha Hieb, 97, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, died July 23, 2000 in the care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas R. Marcis Jr. officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, at McClusky Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Martha was born Dec. 29, 1902 in Shiller Township, Sheridan County, to Christian and Rosina (Schlepp) Glaser. She was raised and educated in Sheridan County and married August C. Hieb in 1923. They farmed near Goodrich until 1941 when they moved to McClusky. There she was employed at the Moore Hotel. After August's death in 1973, Martha moved to Bismarck. At the time of her death, she was a resident of the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in McClusky and Zion Lutheran Church in Bismarck, where she was an active member of the LWML. She was a charter member of the Germans from Russia Heritage Society. Martha was a gentle, kind, loving and unselfish person who always made the best of everything in life, and whose strong faith in God enabled her to survive many hardships in life. She seemed to love working and being busy, often singing as she worked. Her German heritage was reflected in her German cooking, especially her delicious kuchen. Reading her Bible, her newspaper and other literature was an enjoyable daily routine for her. Martha is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Mary Hieb, Centerville, Ohio; her daughter and son-in-law, Glorian and Ron Anderson, Crystal, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Harold, David, Kevin, Matthew and Nanette Hieb, Eileen Tobias, Kirk, Jeff and Mark Anderson; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Clara Trautman; numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, August; one son, Harold; one daughter, Eleanor; her brothers, Julius and Albert Glaser; and her sisters, Hertha "Hattie" Trautman and Emma Wagner.
