David N. Pfaff, 58, Isabel, S.D., died Jan. 27, 2001, in Isabel. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Isabel. Burial will be in Hillsview Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; one daughter, Darla, Isabel; one son, Daryl, Isabel; one brother, Bill, Hanna, Alberta, Canada; two sisters, Sylvia Petik, Keldron, S.D., and Arlene Stein, Isabel; and two godchildren, Cherie Leibel and Jahna Schumaker. Shirley Roehrich
Shirley Roehrich, 79, Bismarck, died Jan. 27, 2001, in a Bismarck care facility. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Zastoupil officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m. that evening. Shirley Chambers was born Apr. 29, 1921, at Aberdeen, S.D., the daughter of Joseph and Lillian (Woodman) Chambers. She was raised and educated in Aberdeen, where she attended two years at Northern State Teachers College and worked in a bank before marrying Henry Roehrich Nov. 10, 1941. They lived in Aberdeen and then moved to Zeeland before coming to Bismarck in 1960. Shirley raised nine children, instilling in all her children a love of reading, the need to be educated and the enjoyment of cooking. A woman of many interests who was never idle, she crocheted afghans for all her children and grandchildren, quilted, sewed, canned, raised poultry, wallpapered, painted, enjoyed cards, crafts and was a lively conversationalist. Shirley was a member of Homemakers and active in her church guild. She was well loved by her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Henry and Diane Roehrich, Olympia, Wash., Yvonne and Ron Adams, Prescott, Ariz., Cynthia Urman, Minneapolis, Susan and Greg Tschider, Bismarck, Joseph Roehrich, Grand Forks, Barbara Tophoj, Edmund, Okla., Lisbeth and David Danielson, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Peter Roehrich, Cambridge, Minn.; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Alldritt, Milwaukee, Ore., and Patty Kaiser, Toledo, Ore.; and one brother, Allan Chambers, Henderson, Nev. She was preceded in death by her husband; and one daughter, Mary Maixner. The family prefers memorials to the Bismarck Public Library to be used for a children's reading promotion.
Robert J. Rolshoven
Robert J. Rolshoven, 37, Apple Valley, Minn., formerly of Mandan, died Jan. 22, 2001, in Florida. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Patrick Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a parish vigil at 7 p.m. Robert was born Nov. 22, 1963, in Mandan, the son of Raymond P. and Bernice (Mastel) Rolshoven. He was raised and educated in Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School in 1982. He continued his education at NDSU, receiving a degree in business administration in 1991. Bob was currently working as a salesman for Roadway Trucking, Minneapolis. Bob was a member of the Elks Club in Wadena, Minn. He is survived by his parents; two brothers and one sister-in-law and their families, Ross and his daughter Ashley and Ross's special friend Kayle Thompson and her daughter Jensen, Reid and Doreen and their children Lindsay, Michael and Koryn, all of Grand Forks; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rachelle and Arthur Thomson and their son Shaun, West Hills, Calif., and Rae Ann and Jim Vandrovec and their children Terry and Kevin, Jamestown; his uncles and aunts, Bernice and Gene Doll, Mandan, Shirley and William Rolshoven, Missoula, Mont., Marianne Wenzel, and Julie and Eugene Mastel, all of Bismarck, Shirley and Robert Mastel, Yakima, Wash., and Michelle and James Mastel, Grass Valley, Calif.; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Anna Silbernagel
Anna Silbernagel, 92, Mt. Vernon, Texas, died Jan. 24, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mt. Vernon, Texas, with the Revs. Lawrence Chellaian and Joseph Dean officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens, Texarkana, Texas. Pallbearers are great-grandsons Benjamin Boyd, Clay Carpenter, Ryan Dillard, Christopher Dillard, and Thomas Dillard. Visitation will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m., at Beaty Funeral Home, Winnsboro, Texas. Anna was born July 17, 1908, in Hague, N.D., the daughter of Joseph and Maria (Volk) Baumgartner. She was a resident of Yakima, Wash., for 52 years. Anna was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mt. Vernon. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Matt and Gladys, Grandview, Wash., and Chris and Lois, Kennewick, Wash.; one daughter, Virginia Dillard, Mt. Vernon, Texas; one brother, Joe Baumgartner, Linton; one sister, Christina Schumacher, Linton; 14 grandchildren, Mark, Carole, Teresa, Susan, Robert, Lisa, Sandy, Joni, Jennifer, Nicole, Mike, Angela, Chris, and Tim; and 23 great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Christopher, Ben, Meredith, Tommy, Lauren, Ryan, Katy, Mathew, Jacquie, Kristie, Kayla, Joshua, Samual, William Drue, Paige, Rick Jr., Alicia, Victor, Christian, Paris Cherie, Ryan, and Shane. She was preceded in death by her husband, Christian; one son-in-law, Choyce Dillard; her parents; and two brothers, John and Jake.

She is survived by two daughters, JoAnn Schumacher, Regan, and Carol Moser, Medina; three sons, Ralph, Lodi, Calif., Gordon, Hazelton, and Terry, Rugby; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Josephine Long. Luella J. Haux
Luella J. Haux, 62, Bismarck, died Jan. 27, 2000, in Mesa, Ariz. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Robert Lynne officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Bismarck Funeral Home, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Luella was born May 13, 1937, in New Rockford, to Jacob and Kathryn (Vollmer) Nathan. She graduated from Tuttle High School in 1955. On July 3, 1955, Luella married Roland Haux in Tuttle. She was a computer typesetter for 18 years for Fronteer Directory. She taught Brownies, Cub Scouts, Bible and Sunday school classes. Luella was involved with the Jaycees, North Dakota Amateur Basketball, North Dakota Republican Party, was an avid bowler and loved to listen to country music. Lou enjoyed many years of camping and especially the years spent at their cabin at Brush Lake. Her generosity and caring for others will be remembered always by her good friends and family. Grandma Lu Lu lived for her grandchildren and loved and cherished her family very much. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Roland; her daughter and son-in-law, penny and Joe Wolfe, Bismarck; her son, Todd Haux, Bismarck; her grandchildren, Shaun and Callie Jo Haux, Abby Jo and Joseph Wolfe, all of Bismarck; three sisters, Clara Lukkonen, Redwood Falls, Minn., Gladys Dyrness, Bremerton, Wash., and Helen Jones, Mesa, Ariz.; and six brothers, Harold Nathan, Minot, Jack Nathan, Mesa, John Nathan, Seattle, Blil Nathan, Minot, Richard Nathan, Bismarck, and Ben Nathan, Waverly, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Lydia Berg, Doris Hagge, Bertha Nathan, Adeline Rose Nathan and Rose Adeline Nathan. Memorials will be donated by the family to the Apollo Group Home in honor of her granddauther, Callie Jo Haux.
Walter Kittler
Walter Kittler died Jan. 20, 2000, in Redmond, Wash. Wally was born in 1909 in Turtle Lake. He attended Concordia College in St. Paul, Minn. In the 1930s and 1940s, the Kittler family owned and operated the Dreamland Pavilion in Beulah, where the Wally Kittler Orchestra played for over 15 years. In the late 1940s Wally and his family moved to the Bismarck-Mandan area where he was involved in the music business for over 50 years. Wally's orchestra played at various local clubs and performed onlocal radio and television programs. He was employed by the North Dakota State Penitentiary for 23 years as a music instructor. Wally was treasurer of the Great Plains Jazz Society, secretary of the American Federation of Musicians and director of the youth choirs for First Lutheran Church and Good Shepherd Church. In 1989, Wally and his wife moved to Redmond, Wash. He was active in the Kirkland and Redmond Senior Centers where he started a seniors' orchestra and served as director for a number of years. Wally is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen; his son, K.K. Kittler; his daughter, Carmen Anderson; two granddaughters, Kris Gohring and Kelly Kittler; and two great-granddaughters, Leah and Monet. A memorial service will be held February 5 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 3030 Bellevue Way N.E., Bellevue, Wash., 98004. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

Esther Boone
Esther Boone, 92, Bismarck, died Feb. 24, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital due to cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home, and will continue until the time of service.
She was born Oct. 28, 1907 in Wilton, N.D., the daughter of Andrew Emil and Emma (Erickson) Nelson. She was raised and educated in Wilton, and graduated from high school in Mercer County. She then attended commercial college in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Esther married Ross Boone on Nov. 17, 1932 in Bismarck. They moved north of Wilton and farmed for four years before moving to McKenzie. Upon retirement in 1976, the couple moved back to Wilton and then to Bismarck in 1989.
She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Bismarck Hospital for five years. She was a member of the Methodist Church and later the Mission Evangelical Free Church in Wilton, Ladies Aid, was a Sunday School teacher, served as secretary-treasurer and sang in the choir. She also sang in the Community Choir, was a 50-year member of the WCTU, served as a 4-H leader and belonged to the McKenzie Homemakers Club.
Esther enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, feeding the birds and loved music. She liked spending time with people and wrote to shut-ins and the elderly. Esther brought smiles to many when she visited them and brought them flowers from her home.
After retirement, she and Ross traveled extensively. Their travels took them through every state, including Hawaii, and they felt privileged to be able to visit the Holy Land.
Esther deeply loved and valued her family and friends.
Esther is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Munn, Seattle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Lynnel, Glyndon, Minn., and Roger and Claudia, McKenzie; eight granddaughters, Michelle, Stacy and Kristin Munn, Laurie and Becky Boone, Kathryn Nitschke, Debbie Clarys and Andrea Boone; four grandsons, Timothy, Andrew, David and Terry Boone; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ross; one grandson, Darryl Boone; six sisters; and two brothers. The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society.

NEW ROCKFORD -- Kenneth Comer, 89, New Rockford, died Feb. 23, 2000, in a New Rockford nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at St. John's Catholic Church, New Rockford. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, New Rockford.
