Margaret Mary Tinbo
Margaret Mary Tinbo, 89, Baptist Home, died Feb. 2, 2000 at the home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Baptist Home Chapel, Bismarck, with the Rev. Clyde Leimberer officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Margaret Overbeck was born June 18, 1910, the daughter of August and Ellen (Hanson) Overbeck, in St. Paul, Minn. The family moved to Dickinson where she was raised and educated. During the summers she helped out at Logging Camp Ranch which was owned by her grandfather. Margaret's father, August died in 1916 and Ellen Overbeck married Guy Dickinson who was a pioneer of Dickinson. Margaret taught school in Dickinson from 1930-1946. On June 26, 1946, she married Peter A. Tinbo in Bismarck. After their marriage they lived in Bismarck and began their family. Following their daughter Mary's birth, Margaret became a stay-at-home mom. Margaret loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Gregory TeKippe, Lakewood, Colo.; one grandson, Peter A. TeKippe, Lakewood, Colo.; three nephews, David Davis, Ray Davis and Norman Davis; and one niece, Marjorie Hill. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; and one sister, Evelyn Davis. STRASBURG -- Peter A. Zacher, 55, Strasburg, died Feb. 1, 2000 in the Linton hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his two sons, Peter and Tony, both of Minneapolis; his parents, Aloysius and Marianna Zacher, Strasburg; four brothers, Richard, Linton, Charles and Ken, both of Strasburg, and Herman, Lincoln; and four sisters, Lucy DuFrame, Lincoln, Clara Hubin, Littleton, Colo., Sally Zacher, Strasburg, and Viola Bullert, Mandan. Daniel Frank Jechort, 90, Bismarck, and formerly of Grafton and Lankin, died Feb. 19, 2000 in a Bismarck nursing home. Jacob Friesz
Jacob Friesz, 82, 126 Boise Ave., died Feb. 21, 2000, in his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Marvin Klemmer officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services. Jacob Friesz, the son of Laborius and Evenia (Hopfauf) Friesz, was born Feb. 20, 1918, in Fallon. He was raised and educated in the Fallon area. On Nov. 21, 1938, he was united in marriage to Mathilda Schmidt, in Odense. They farmed in the Fallon area until 1979 when they moved to Bismarck. Jacob continued his farming until his retirement in 1981. Jacob was a member of Mandan Eagles and the Former Fallon Verein. Jacob loved the farm, the rolling hills of golden grain and especially the hereford cattle he raised. He always had a positive attitude and a great smile. His friendliness always drew one near to him. He taught himself to play the saxophone and clarinet, and played in the dance band called the Harmony Kings. After his retirement he continued his enjoyment of old time music and would spend time in the outdoors fishing. He is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Loren, Waseca, Minn., Richard and Diane, Bismarck, Duane, Salt Lake City, and Dennis and Faye, Fargo; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Marlene and Ed Zaharis, Tracy, Calif., Leona and Robert Dillon, Red Lodge, Mont., Bernardine Tosterud, Grand Junction, Colo., Kathleen Kopp, Bismarck, and Sharon and John Michlitsch, Fargo; 11 grandchildren, Amie Friesz, Brad Dillon, Dean Wiens, Wendy Johnson, Rebecca, Brian and Janelle Kopp, Laurie Friesz, Christy Hansauer, Tim Michlitsch and Jessie Erling; and two great-grandchildren, Alex and Hope Hausauer. Jacob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mathilda, who died Jan. 26, 1998; three brothers, his twin brother, John, Ralph and Nick; and four sisters, Barbara Bohl, Annie Lanz, Pauline Friesz and Rose Knoll.

Gene C. "Popeye" Tidball
Gene C. "Popeye" Tidball Sr., 81, 1119 S. University Drive, died Feb. 21, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Boelter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rick Fossum officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Gene was born July 31, 1918, at Seattle, to John W. and Inez Tidball. He was raised and educated in Seattle. During World War II he entered the U.S. Army and served in France, England and Alaska. After the war he came to North Dakota, where he was self-employed as a truck driver. Gene married Doris Keller, Feb. 10, 1946. In 1977 he began working as a Teamster truck driver at the power plants, retiring in 1994. Gene loved hunting and visiting with his friends. He is survived by one daughter, Kim Tidball, Bismarck; three sons, Gene Jr. and Pat, both of Bismarck, and Terry, Fargo; four grandchildren, Dawn, John, Melissa and Cody; and one great-grandson, Austin. Gene was preceded in death his wife, Doris, on May 1, 1984; and two sons, Yancy and John.

DICKINSON -- Ione Ungerecht, 77, Dickinson, died Feb. 21, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Thursday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with burial in Dickinson cemetery. She is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Sticka, Dickinson, Roberta Greager, Rapid City, S.D., and Jean Kessel, Alexandria, Va.; two sons, Larry, Anchorage, Alaska, and David, Springfield, Mo.; two sisters; one brother; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. John R. Zander
John R. Zander, 68, 210 First Ave. N.E., Mandan, died Feb. 21, 2000, in his sister's residence in Bismarck. Services will be held at noon Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. William Fahnlander officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites by Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 707 and American Legion Post 40. Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Catholic Daughters rosary will be said at 4 p.m. today. A St. Vincent Verein rosary will be said at 7 tonight, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m., both at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 9-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. John R. Zander, the son of George R. and Magdalena (Hellman) Zander, was born Nov. 21, 1931, in Morton County, in the St. Vincent area. He was raised and educated in the Morton County and Judson areas. John joined the U.S. Army, serving his country from 1956-1958. When John returned from the service he farmed before working as a construction worker for Twin City Roofing, John Schultz Construction and the power plant in Beulah. John was a quiet and reserved person. He was very dependable, taking great pride in his work. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was a member of Moose, St. Vincent Verein, and a 34-year member of the Laborer's International Union of North America. John is survived by two brothers and one sister-in-law, Nick and Mary Lou, Seattle, and Ray, Mandan; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Clara and Matt Sturn, Bismarck, Delores and Richard Frohnauer, and Adeline Ziniel, all of Mandan; and two sisters-in-law, Irene and Dorothea Zander, both of Seattle; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Louie and Harry; and one grand-nephew, Corey Ott; and one brother-in-law, Ray Ziniel.
