Christine Engen
ANAMOOSE -- Christine Engen, 93, Anamoose, died Feb. 17, 2000 in the Harvey nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Anamoose. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Monday, at Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home, Drake) Christine Rauser, daughter of Reinhold and Sarah (Isaak) Rauser, was born March 22, 1906 on her parents' farm south of Drake, where she grew up and attended country school. On Nov. 24, 1926, she was married to Oley A. Engen at McClusky. They made their home on the Engen homestead south of Anamoose, where they farmed until 1965, when they retired and moved into Anamoose. Mr. Engen passed away on July 29, 1992. She remained in Anamoose until entering the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in November of 1996. She is survived by two sons, Pete (Delilah) Engen and William (Gloria) Engen, all of Anamoose; seven daughters, Phyllis (Lowell) Klatt, Bozeman, Mont., Arliss (John) Skipwith, Conrad, Mont., Coralie (Cairns) Hoopers, Sacramento, Calif., Gloria (Irvin) Mills, Kennewick, Wash., Patricia Frey, Bismarck, Peggy (Edmund) Oster, Kennewick, and Barbara (Jerry) Helm, Littleton, Colo.; 24 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Emil, Lodi, Calif., and Reuben, Redding, Calif.; and two sisters, Martha Meyers, Menlo Park, Calif., and Leona Olswald, Washington, D.C. Eleanor Ferderer
Eleanor Ferderer, 63, Bismarck, died Feb. 18, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Benedict "Bennie" Fettig
Benedict "Bennie" Fettig, beloved husband, father and grandfather, 69, Bismarck, died Feb. 15, 2000, peacefully at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Church of St. Anne with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Bennie was born on Jan. 9, 1931, the son of Benedict and Magdalena (Wangler) Fettig in Napoleon. Bennie and his wife, Bernie (Mitzel), were married on Sept. 29, 1956, in Napoleon, where they lived until moving to Bismarck in 1966. He owned and operated a mobile station in Napoleon for eight years. He worked at International Harvester for 34 years as a farm equipment salesman. Bennie retired in 1990 from Northern Plains of Mandan. Ben was a proud member of the U.S. Army from February 1952 to February 1955. He was stationed in Newfoundland and was discharged as a sergeant. Bennie's interests included working in his yard, gardening, playing cards, bowling, golfing and traveling. He loved children and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Bernie; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and his wife Kathe Fettig, Lacey, Wash.; two grandchildren, Tayler and Mitchel Fettig, Lacey, Wash. one brother, Wendy and his wife Ann Fettig, Fargo; four sisters, Margaret Kasch and Helen Richter, both of Bismarck, Eva Meyers, Circleville, Ohio, and Mary Mehling, Fresno, Calif.; one brother-in-law, Bob and his wife Linda Mitzel, Germany; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Fettig, Bismarck, and Florence Wentz, Belfield; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Marty and Bennett; and one brother, Andy. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Dorothy Gernhardt
DICKINSON -- Dorothy (Clark) Gernhardt, 88, formerly of Dickinson, died Feb. 17, 2000 in Sacramento, Calif. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Dickinson Cemetery. (Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson)

Albert C. Goehring
LINTON -- Albert C. Goehring, 84, Bismarck, formerly of Linton, died Feb. 18, 2000 in a Bismarck nursing home. Arrangements are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Amy Boyce
HETTINGER -- Amy Boyce, 88, Hettinger, died Feb. 26, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

John Dirkach
DICKINSON -- John Dirkach, 80, Dickinson, died Feb. 27, 2000, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending.

Alice Eide
WATFORD CITY -- Alice Eide, 90, Watford City, died Feb. 25, 2000, in the Watford City nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Wilmington Lutheran Church, Arnegard, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by three sons, Lyle, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Henry, Alexandria, Va., and Orville, Bismarck; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Theodore Felland, Arnegard; and one sister, Julia Anderson, Arnegard. (Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City)

Rudolph Guthmiller
PETTIBONE -- Rudolph Guthmiller, 8l, Pettibone, died Feb. 26, 2000, at his home in Pettibone. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pettibone, with the Rev. Arie Bertsch officiating. Burial will be in Petersville Lutheran Cemetery, Pettibone. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Rudolph was born September 4, 1918, in Petersville Township near Pettibone, the son of Ludwig and Barbara (Moser) Guthmiller. He grew up and attended school in Petersville Township.
He married Freida Schmidt on Nov. 9, 1943, in Petersville Church. He lived and farmed in Petersville Township, north of Pettibone, all his life.
Rudolph was secretary and sexton of the Petersville Lutheran Cemetery for 27 years. He served on the Petersville Township Board, was a elder and member of the Zion Lutheran Church and Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Pettibone, where he sang in the church choir. He was a past member of the Lion's Club of Pettibone.
He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting with his grandhildren, and spending time with his family.
Rudolph is survived by his wife of 56 years, Freida Schmidt; two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Lorraine (Wolf) Guthmiller, and Eugene and Charlene Guthmiller, all of Pettibone; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marlys and Marlin Harr, Pettibone, and Connie and Todd Schlafman, Wilton; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Thelma Guthmiller, Pingree, Reinhold and Janice Guthmiller, Robinson, Ludwig and Dorlene Guthmiller, Pettibone, and Adam and Bertha Guthmiller, Pettibone; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Caroline Schagunn, New Rockford, Bertha Schick, Jamestown, and Martha and Ferdinand Koenig, of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Earl, two brothers, and two sisters.

Ida Link
HAZEN -- Ida Link, 86, Hazen, died Feb. 26, 2000, in the Beulah care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Emil; four daughters, Doris Weidrich, Bismarck, Darlene Pfeifer, Beulah, Barbara Burgad, Mandan, and Paulette Mattheis, Hazen; one son, Norman, Braintree, Mass.; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; five step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Emma Rottenberger, Palm Harbor, Fla. Esther Rund
WILLISTON -- Esther Rund, 92, Williston, died Feb. 22, 2000, in the Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Home Chapel, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth, Appleton, Minn., and Arnold, Niantic, Conn.; two daughters, Mamie Skurdal, Williston, and Edna Broome, Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Hilda Hanson, Williston; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Rolland Scherer
BEULAH -- Rolland Scherer, 67, Beulah, died Feb. 27, 2000, in his home of natural causes. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Thursday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah. Further arrangements are pending at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

Joseph C. Smith, 39, Bismarck, died Feb. 27, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Melvin Straub
EUREKA, S.D. -- Melvin A. Straub, 70, Mesa, Ariz., died Feb. 22, 2000, in Mesa. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Church of God Seventh Day Cemetery, rural Eureka.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta; two daughters, Teresa Straub, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Rosellen Boehm, North Pole, Alaska; two stepdaughters, Cindy Cooper, Glendale, Ariz., and Dawn Salyards, Cheyenne; two sons, Wayne, Bullhead City, Ariz., and Dean, Cheyenne; two stepsons, Dan Bradbury, Greeley, Colo., and Cary Bradbury, Kodiac, Alaska; one sister, Wilma Holzwarth, Aurora, Colo.; one brother, Eugene Straub, Littleton, Colo.; two grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren. HALLIDAY -- Elmer E. Goetz, 83, formerly of Halliday, died Feb. 15, 2000 in a Red Wing, Minn., hospital.
