Martha Bauer
ELGIN -- Martha Bauer, 80, Elgin, died Feb. 13, 2000, in her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Saturday at Assembly of God Church, Elgin, with burial in Prairie View Cemetery, Heil. She is survived by her husband, Raymond; three sons, Gene, Stillman Valley, Ill., Jim, Elgin, and Marlow, West Fargo; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, August Martell, Newberg, Ore.; and six sisters, Pauline Wutzke, Elgin, Emma Oset, Billings, Mont., Olga Hammond, Newberg, Anna Schmuck, Newberg, Elinor Haug, Appleton, Wis., and Alma Martell, Elgin. Kenneth Bolke
HEBRON -- Kenneth Bolke, 77, Hebron, died Feb. 14, 2000, in Richardton. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Thursday at St. John United Church of Christ, Hebron, with burial in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Military rites will be by American Legion Post 100. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today at Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A prayer service will begin at 7 tonight at the funeral home. Kenneth was born July 20, 1922, at Hebron, to Fred and Elsie (Nicodemus) Bolke. He was raised and educated in Hebron. He entered the Civilian Conservation Corp and served in Fort Meade, S.D., and Lanesboro, Minn. He returned to Hebron and shortly thereafter he entered the U.S. Navy, on Aug. 26, 1942. He served in every theater of the war. Following his discharge on Jan. 1, 1946, he returned to Hebron and worked at the Bolke Store. Ken married Agnes Buchli, Dec. 28, 1946, at Hebron. In 1956 they moved to Minot, where he worked designing and engineering mechanical systems. In 1967, he was hired by the Dickinson State University to work their steam system. After 25 years at the University he retired. In the fall of 1991, he and Agnes moved back to Hebron to enjoy their retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 100, and was a past member of Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Agnes; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Dean Lange, St. Paul, Minn., JoGay and Ed Renner, Hebron, and Vivian and Richard Petersson, Billings, Mont.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Vera Helfrich, Mandan, and Virginia Bruun, Pinewood, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenny; two brothers, Roy and Donald; and one sister, Ada.

Benedict Fettig
Benedict Fettig, 69, Bismarck, died Feb. 15, 2000, at his home. Arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

John Freidig
CENTER -- Beloved husband, father and grandfather, John Freidig, 79, Center, died peacefully on Feb. 14, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Center, with the Rev. Roger Synek officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue from 4-9 p.m. Thursday at St. Martin's Church, Center, where a parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30. John Freidig was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Yucca, the son of Joseph and Rose (Yantzer) Freidig. He was raised and educated in the Yucca and Hensler area. He married Joyce Livingston on April 21, 1945, at Center. They shared over 54 years of happy memories. John worked for Oliver County as a heavy equipment operator and at the Hagel Coal Mine. Before that, he worked on a farm, also in Oliver County. John was a great man that loved playing cards, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He was a very special person that was known as "Pa Freidig" to many. He was a dear friend and will be missed by all who knew him. He was an incredible grandfather that spent many hours playing with and spoiling his family. John and Joyce enjoyed spending time together and were well liked and respected in their community. John will be missed! John is survived by his wife, Joyce; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerry and Tracy, Center; one daughter-in-law, Susan Freidig, Mandan; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother and sister-in-law, Adam and Sylvia, Hensler; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Frances Staigle and Mary Staigle, both of Center, and Elizabeth and Frank Weisgarber, Hensler; two sisters-in-law, Rose Freidig, Mandan, and Gladys Freidig, Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Donald and Darrell Freidig; four brothers, Matt, Joe, Tony and Adam Freidig; and one sister, Margaret Carmen.

Bernice Guenther
FORBES -- Bernice Guenther, 70, Forbes, died Feb. 15, 2000, in the Ashley hospital. Arrangements are pending at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale.

Gordon Muecke
GLADSTONE -- Gordon Muecke, 77, Gladstone, died Feb. 14, 2000, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Thursday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with burial in Taylor Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; one daughter, Beverly Myran, Richardton; three grandsons; and two great-grandsons. (Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson)

Raymond Rieker
LEMMON, S.D. -- Raymond Rieker, 73, Lemmon, died Feb. 11, 2000, in a Prescott, Ariz. hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Thursday at Calvary Lutheran Church, Lemmon, with burial in Greenhill Cemetery, Lemmon. He is survived by three daughters, Sharon Crevier, Lemmon, Sandy Duncan and Stacy McArthur, both of Prescott; two sons, Randy, Coalville, Utah, and Raymond Jr., Lemmon; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bernice Trautman and Mildred Holdahl, both of Lemmon, and Irene Olson, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and three brothers, Harold, Modesto, Calif., Oscar, Seattle, and Robert, Missoula, Mont. Bertha Rokusek
MOTT -- Bertha Rokusek, 89, Mott, died Feb. 13, 2000, in the Elgin hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Thursday at United Church of Christ, Mott, with burial in Neuberg Cemetery, Mott. She is survived by two sons, Milton, Sacramento, Calif., and Roger, Bismarck; one daughter, Millie Swenson, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; two brothers, Herbert Haberstroh, Carson, and Edmund Haberstroh, Omaha, Neb.; four sisters, Carrie Rokusek, Tecumseh, Okla., Freida Rokusek, Elgin, Lydia Stern, Leith, and Edna Klein, Elgin; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Gerald "Jerry" Arnold Simon
JUDSON -- Gerald "Jerry" Arnold Simon, 68, Judson, died Feb. 13, 2000, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MST today at St. Pius Catholic Church, New Salem, with the Rev. David Zimmer officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, Mandan. There will be visitation from 9 a.m. to the time of the service at St. Pius Catholic Church. Jerry was born on March 5, 1931, in Glen Ullin, the son of Joseph LeRoy and Hubertina Anna (Braun) Simon. In 1942, his family moved to Gallion, Ohio, for five years, then moved northeast of Bismarck, where Jerry farmed until his marriage to Betty Anne Bidwell on June 30, 1953, in Bismarck. They then moved to Bismarck, where they lived for nine years, On March 16, 1963, they moved south of Judson, where he farmed and was a construction foreman for Igoe Construction Company for 22 years. He retired from Igoe Construction Company in 1983 but continued to farm until 1990. Jerry loved dancing, old-time music and country-western music, playing cards, watching football, traveling, and playing softball with kids. He was hard working and his value of doing his best was passed on to his children. He was a good friend to many people, and he didn't know how to say no when others needed his help. Jerry was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in New Salem. He is survived by his wife, Betty, Judson; six daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and John Kraft, Carol and Wayne Hochhalter, Kathleen and Ed Getz, all of Bismarck, Susan and Don Lipp, Mandan, Bonnie and Michael Paine, Waseca, Minn., and Melissa and Kevin Rymer, Casper, Wyo.; three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Margaret Simon, Cottage Grove, Minn., Joel and Shelly Simon, New Salem, and Quentin and Gail Simon, Carrington; eight grandsons, Curt and Brent Kraft, Josh Lipp, Eric Rymer, Brandon Simon, Tim Simon, Quentin Simon Jr. and Robin Simon; 10 granddaughters, Jennifer and Kari Hochhalter, Jolene Lipp, Jayme Simon, and Samantha and Jessica Paine, Jade Rymer, Stefanie Simon, Michelle Simon, and Amanda Simon; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Virgil and Margie Simon, and Clement and Marie Simon, all of Bismarck; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Bernetta and Louis Metz, Bismarck, and Alberta Feser, Glen Ullin; and many special friends. Elizabeth Fried
JAMESTOWN -- Elizabeth Fried, 85, Jamestown, died Feb. 13, 2000 in a Jamestown care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown. She is survived by five children, John, Jamestown, Marlys Gallagher, Jamestown, Cleone Gilhooly, Bismarck, Evonne Cysewski, Billings, Mont., Mary Jo Miller, Billings, Mont.; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille Clayton, St. Paul, Minn. Dagny B. Halvorson
TURTLE LAKE Ð Dagny B. Halvorson, 81, rural Turtle Lake, died Feb. 13, 2000 in the Turtle Lake hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Turtle Lake, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Harley Halvorson, Turtle Lake, and Dr. Eldon Halvorson, Minot; and two grandchildren. (Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake)

Hilda Heyne
Hilda Heyne, 83, Rapid City, S.D., died Feb. 10, 2000 at her home. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, at Faith Lutheran Church, Rapid City, with the Rev. Bruce Baum officiating. Burial will be in Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis, S.D. Hilda was born to Theobald and Justina (Helfenstein) Martel on June 2, 1916 on the family homestead in Grant County. She attended Elgin Public Schools and graduated from high school in 1939. After attending Dickinson State Teacher's College, Hilda taught in several one room schools in the area. She married Herbert Heyne in Elgin, on March 24, 1942. Before joining Herbert in Anchorage, Alaska, where he was stationed during World War II, Hilda worked in the US Naval Hospital in Farragut, Idaho. They returned to the Elgin area in 1947 and moved to Long Lake, S.D. in the early 1950's. They farmed near Long Lake until 1955 when they opened their own garage business. In 1967, they moved to Rapid City where Hilda worked with the Head Start Program in the Douglas School System, Control Data, and held various secretarial jobs. Hilda was very active in her church. She enjoyed collecting rocks and exploring the Black Hills. She is survived by three daughters, Theedra (Marvin) Fink, Enderlin, Carla (Ron) Kaaz, Aberdeen, and Joni (Jim) Rowe, Cranford, N.J.; one son, August (Cindy) Heyne, Custer, S.D.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and one sister, Betty Eslinger, Elgin. Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, one son, four brothers and two sisters. (Behrens Mortuary, Aberdeen)

Helen Luke
Helen Luke, 90, formerly of Huron, S.D., died Feb. 1, 2000 in a Bismarck nursing home. Services were held on Feb. 12, at First Presbyterian Church, Huron. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Ellsworth, St. Paul, Minn.; one stepson, Terry Luke, Colorado; one step-daughter, Sharon Luke, Colorado; and four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Gordon Muecke
GLADSTONE -- Gordon Muecke, 77, Gladstone, died Feb. 14, 2000 in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Thursday, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Fred Nutz
HARVEY -- Fred Nutz, 95, Harvey, died Feb. 12, 2000 in the Harvey nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at First Congregational Church, Harvey. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey. Visitation will be from 2-7:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday, at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey. Fred was born on Sept. 12, 1904 on the family farm southwest of Harvey to Gottlieb and Helena (Bich) Nutz. He grew up there and attended the Fairview School No. 1 in Sheridan County. He married Emma Schimke on June 30, 1932 in Harvey. They lived and farmed in Sheridan County. Emma died on April 24, 1965. He retired from farming and moved into Harvey in 1975. He married Linda (Seibel) Schimke on Aug. 2, 1975 in Harvey. They resided in Harvey. Fred was a member of First Congregational Church, where he served as Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. He also served on the Fairview Township Board and it's School Board. Fred is survived by his wife, Linda; one son, Gary and his wife, Jane, Minot; his stepdaughters, Jeanette Martens and her husband, Marvin, Fairview, Okla., Carol Martens and her husband, Jerry, Fergus Falls, Minn., DyAnn Ingebretson and her husband, Paul, Bismarck; two step-grandchildren, Brent Helseth, Minneapolis, and Brady Helseth and his wife, Sara, Lino Lakes, Minn. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Elaine; his sisters, Sarah and Julie Ann, both who died when the family was emigrating to America, Bertha, Marie and Selma; and his brothers, John, Otto, Edwin, Arthur and Daniel. Wesley Ward Parker
Wesley Ward Parker, 84, St. Charles, Iowa, died Feb. 12, 2000 in a Winterset, Iowa hospital. Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Iowa at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, St. Charles, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, Nellie; one son, Dean, Truro, Iowa; one daughter, Judie Seibel, Bismarck; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and one stepsister, Ferne Smith, California.
