Ardeth Roberta Taylor
Our loving mother, grandmother and friend, Ardeth Roberta (Gussner) Taylor, 88, passed away Dec. 24, 2000, in Edgewood, Ky. Born March 9, 1912, to Arthur William Gussner and Alfie Syvertson Gussner in Bismarck. Ardeth married Adrian Cleveland Taylor on Jan. 30, 1934. Together they had three children. Ardeth was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, where she was a member of the Bell Ringers for 26 years, and was also a member of Circle No. 5. Her civic involvement included P.E.O., and she was known for her constant service to whoever she met. Her real love was developing her skills as a homemaker and was known for her domestic talents. Ardeth lived in Bismarck until 1994, when she moved to Florence, Ky., to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Taylor, April 20, 1975. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul "Pat" Adrian and Ellen Taylor, Aurora, Colo.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Mrs. Kathleen R. Dobovsky, Minneapolis, and P. Carolyn and John Bergs, Fort Mitchell, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Steven and Scott Dobovsky, and Karen, Mike, Adrianne and Lee Bergs. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, Ky., with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Adrian C. Taylor Scholarship Fund, Bismarck State College, 1500 Edwards Ave., or Ronald McDonald House.
Ann M. Thomas
Ann M. Thomas, 86, Bismarck, died Dec. 21, 2000. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7 tonight. Ann was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Linton, the daughter of John and Walburga Holzer. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony's Church of Linton. She married John Thomas on Sept. 17, 1935, in Fort Yates. They farmed in the Solen area for 12 years before moving to Bismarck. She was a faithful member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, belonging to the Ladies Guild, and a member of the Pastor's Club. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the VFW Auxiliary. She was well-known for her flower gardens at the cabin at Brush Lake, playing cards, baking, and making quilts. Ann worked at part-time jobs throughout her life with her last job being her most rewarding at Knowles Jewelry in Bismarck. She was also so pleased to work as a volunteer at the Baptist Home for several years. She is survived by her children, Joe and Nancy Thomas, Breezy Point, Minn., Jeanette and Darrell Arman, Waconia, Minn., and Patricia and Richard Goetzfried, Bismarck; her grandchildren, Todd and Cheryl Thomas, Jody and Mike Sawatzke, Tracy and Bryan Bruns, Shawn and Greyson Thomas, Debra and Steve Lowden, Michael and Missy Goetzfried and Scott Arman; her great-grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Taylor, Tanner, Laura Beth, Logan, Derek, Riley Jo, Erin, Emily, Allison and Megan; one brother and sister-in-law, Mike Holzer; two sisters-in-law, Catherine and Mary Holzer; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; one sister, Barbara; and three brothers, Joe, Tony and John.

He is survived by two sons, Willis, Dickinson, and Douglas, Tigard, Ore.; six daughters, Marjorie Schreiner, Garrison, Marilyn Aldinger, Isanti, Minn., Marlis Patrick, Hermiston, Ore., Marie Lewis, Aloha, Ore., Mary Sagert, Cavalier, and Marvel Molina, Seattle; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenny, Coleharbor, and Richard, Stockden, Mo.; and two sisters, LaVern Riv and Marianna Bader, both of Bismarck. Wylma Matheny-Port, 72, Bismarck, died Dec. 23, 2000, in her home after a long battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bismarck United Church of Christ. Further arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.
V. Stanley Olson
V. Stanley "Stan" Olson, 80, 2500 Centennial Road, died Dec. 21, 2000, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, with the Rev. Todd Hylden officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. He was born March 26, 1920, in Colfax, Wis., the son of Alfred J. and Martha (Tietz) Olson. He graduated from Menomonee Central High School in Menomonee, Wis. He then attended Stout Institute in Menomonee and graduated from Berry College Aviation Academics as a first lieutenant in Rome, Ga. He served in the P51 35th Fighter Group in the Asian-Pacific Theater. After the service, he owned a business in Barren, Wis., was a salesman for John Leslie Paper Co. in Minneapolis, was a sales broker and an insurance agent in Casper, Wyo., and was associated with Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bismarck for over 29 years. He is survived by his daughter, Boni Olson, Bismarck; his son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Bettijean Olson, Lincoln; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Lorraine Devine, Elfreda Burich and Norma and Donald Frenette, all of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Lorraine Olson, Mauston, Wis., and Howard and Joan Olson, Chippewa Falls; and Stan's very best friend, Florine Wetzel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 1995; his parents; and his brother, Raymond Olson. Stan's passion was golf. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and competitive sports, such as baseball, basketball and football. He dearly loved his children, Boni and Don, and his very best friend and companion, Florine. Richard David Kelsch
Richard David Kelsch, 66, 106 Locust St., Newark, Del. 19711, died Nov. 25, 2000, in a Newark hospital. A native of Mandan, second son of C.F. Kelsch and Mary (Roche) Kelsch, he graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He had been an engineer for the DuPont Company for 35 years, retiring from the former Louviers site in Newark in 1991. He had previously worked at DuPont's Svannah River Plant. Mr. Kelsch was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, Wilmington, Del., a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of Delaware Right to Life and Delaware Right Life Coalition. He was also a member of Delaware Antique Car Clubs, Brandywine Region AACA, and the Cadillac LaSalle Club, Valley Forge, Penn. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy (Snead) Kelsch; eight children, Michael Anthony Kelsch, Peachtree, Ga., Donna M. Kelsch, Newark, Edward Andrew Kelsch, Claymont, Del., Katrina Marie Kelsch, Newark, Patrick Clemens Kelsch, Elkton, Md., Robert Francis Kelsch, Hendersonville, N.C., Mark William Kelsch, Indialantic, Fla., and Carl Louis Kelsch, Brooklyn, N.Y.; four brothers, Dr. Robert C. Kelsch, Ann Arbor, Mich., William C. Kelsch, Mandan, Thomas F. Kelsch, Bismarck, and Charles F. Kelsch, Los Angeles; two sisters, Margaret J. Cordano, Indianapolis, Ind., and M. Kathleen Ruiz, Hollister, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren. Services were held November 29 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wilmington, with burial in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

Edith M. Nickel
Edith M. Nickel, 85, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, died Dec. 21, 2000, in the care center. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the care center, with the Rev. James Baneck officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Edith was born Sept. 23, 1915, at Otter Creek in Morton County, to John and Louise (Huber) Ellwein. She was raised and educated in Otter Creek and Beulah. Edith married Arthur Nickel in New Salem on June 25, 1939. They lived on a farm south of Judson, Mandan and Bismarck. She worked sales at Mann's Store, New Salem, F.W. Woolworth, Nickel's Firestone Tire Store and the Dollar Store, all of Mandan. She enjoyed visiting people, cooking and baking, playing cards and doing volunteer work. She is survived by her husband, Arthur; one daughter and son-in-law, Eunice and Darrel Suchy, Mandan; two grandchildren, Robyn and Dennis DeVault, Wilton, Darren and Patricia Suchy, Mandan; three grandchildren, Kim, Brian and Matthew; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and one sister. Edith's family would like to thank all the care providers at SCCI, St. Alexius Hospital, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, and all the seniors and friends for their visits. Tilmer Reiswig
MCCLUSKY -- Tilmer Reiswig, 81, McClusky, died Dec. 20, 2000, in Jackson Hole, Wyo. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, McClusky, with burial in McClusky Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky. Tilmer was born Dec. 10, 1919, on the family farm near Lincoln Valley. He was the son of George and Rose (Tebelius) Reiswig. He was the youngest of three children including an older brother, Ervin, and an older sister, Clara Belle. After Clara Belle's death her two sons, Alan and Alton were taken into the family and grew up with Tilmer. Tilmer grew up and attended school near Lincoln Valley. As a young man he worked on the family farm before entering the United States Army. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Tilmer married Edna Sprenger on June 9, 1946, at her parents' home near Lincoln Valley. They resided on a farm southwest of Lincoln Valley and he ran a nearly lifelong farming and ranching operation. They moved into McClusky in 1970, and to Jackson Hole in November 1999. He was a member of Kassel Reformed Church, rural Denhoff. Tilmer served on the McClusky school board and on the Sheridan County Soil Conservation Board. He was elected to the Garrison Diversion Conservancy District Board for nearly 3 decades. He was a member of McClusky American Legion and McClusky Lions Club. Tilmer is survived by his wife, Edna; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Kathy, Spearfish, S.D., and Barry and Monica, Jackson Hole, Wyo.; two grandchildren, Stuart and Leslie, Spearfish, S.D.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Ervin and Florence Reiswig, Lodi, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Clara Belle.
