FARGO -- Ida Keblar, 84, Fargo, died Jan. 16, 2001 in a Fargo nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at Community Presbyterian Church, West Fargo, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth, Brooklyn Park, Minn., Dennis, Felton, Minn.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; her brothers, Melvin Almer, West Fargo, Willis Almer, Bismarck; one sister, Adeline Bennett, West Fargo. Magdalena Koch
Magdalena Koch, 93, Mandan, died Jan. 16, 2001 in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Patrick Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday until time of services at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, where a rosary and parish vigil will begin at 7 p.m. Friday evening. There will be no viewing at the church. Magdalena was born on July 15, 1907 at Hague, the daughter of Adam and Eva (Schwartzenberger) Zahn. Raised and educated in Hague, she married Fidelis Joseph Koch on Nov. 9, 1931 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hague. They farmed 25 miles northwest of Mandan, in Oliver County, until retiring and moving to Mandan in 1966. Magdalena worked as a housekeeper for numerous families in the Mandan area. A lady whose hands were rarely idle, Maggie enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, ceramics and crocheting. She also liked woodworking and arranging wedding flowers. She is survived by her son, Edward, Cheyenne, Wyo.; her daughter and son-in-law, Adaline and Frank G. Messer, Mandan; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Theresa Hermes, Rock Falls, Ill., Anna Jacob, Hunter, and Barbara Herchert, Sterling, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fidelis, who died on March 13, 1979; her son, Albert; two brothers, Anton and Joe Zahn; and four sisters, Elizabeth Jacob, Katie Eberle, Marion Malsam and Frances Eberle.
Marvin J. Lovelien
Marvin J. Lovelien quietly slipped from this earth and went to join the Lord Sunday morning January 14th, 2001, he was 74. Marv was born at home to Catherine and Adolph in McClusky, ND, the eldest of 4 boys and 2 girls. His younger years were spent on the family dairy farm, cultivating his love for the land and animals. The family relocated for a time to Osseo, Wisconsin, but eventually returned to the Turtle Lake/Underwood area. At 17, Marv left school to join the Navy, working primarily as a medic on a hospital ship during WW II. He made his way back to ND to begin a series of agricultural jobs that led him to his first position with AGSCO in Minot in 1957. Marv retired from AGSCO in the mid-1970's as General Mgr. of the company in Grand Forks. Marv then turned his life toward one of his personal passions: breeding and training show Quarter horses and Paints. He was known across the Midwest for his quality breeding stock and championship show horses. His final calling was to Bismarck where he studied and practiced the WORD and became an ordained minister in the Christian faith. Through the years, Marv was also involved with the VFW as a past president, and also with the Shriners at the Kem Temple. Marv's life was one of love; love of family, friends, hard work, the land, his animals, and the Lord. Put on your boots and jeans and come share in his celebration of love and life with praise and song in Bismarck at the Evangel Temple, 3225 Harvest Lane, just off Hwy 83, on Saturday, January 20th at 2:00.
Donald J. Oie
UNDERWOOD -- Donald J. Oie, 76, Underwood, died Jan. 16, 2001 in a Bismarck hospital after a lengthy illness. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Underwood, with the Rev. Arie Bertsch officiating. Burial will be in North Daktoa Veterans' Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. today at Goetz Funeral Home, Underwood, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Donald James Oie was born Dec. 27, 1924 at Roseau, Minn., to Evan and Minnie (Dahlquist) Oie. He graduated from Roseau High School in 1942 and then entered the U.S. Navy in June of 1943. He served in the U.S. Naval Construction Battalion PT detachment known as the Seabees. He was a member of the "Forgotten 55" who served on seven islands in the Southwest Pacific Theater until June of 1945. He was discharged on March 20, 1946 and then attended Concordia College at Moorhead, Minn. for one year. He then attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, where he studied drafting and carpentry. He moved to Underwood and was employed at Dakota Lumber and also Torske Construction for several years. He married Carol Weber at Underwood in October of 1975. They made their home in Underwood, where Don was a self-employed carpenter until 1993, when he retired due to failing health. He enjoyed woodworking and acrylic painting as hobbies. He is survived by his wife, Carol Oie, Underwood; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Ray Olson, Minnetonka, Minn., Lorraine Frail, Palo Alto, Calif., and Sally and Ralph Richter, Watertown, S.D.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Curtis Oie. (Goetz Funeral Home, Underwood)

Anthony Schlosser, 81, Owens, Wis., formerly of Bismarck and Mandan, died Jan. 5, 2001. He is survived by one daughter, Jane Ramono; one son, Bradley; four grandchildren; three brothers, Val, Henry and Peter, all of Mandan; and six sisters, Ann Miller, Petersburg, Perpetua Bauer, Mandan, Isabelle Wegner, Billings, Mont., Katherine Kautzman, New Salem, Marie Ferderer, Vancouver, Wash., and Alice Williams, Jamestown.

Linda Skaar, 57, died of cancer Jan. 8, 2001, in Albuquerque, N.M. A memorial service was held at her home on Jan. 13, 2001, in Placitas, N.M. Linda is survived by her mother, Florence Skaar, Bismarck; one sister and brother-in-law, Flo and Dennis Schulz, Bismarck; one sister, Jan Heins, Milwaukee, Wis.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Sandy Skaar, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her father, Nels Skaar; and one brother, Dean Skaar.

Leo Alois Tavis
Leo Alois Tavis, 85, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and formerly of Flasher, died Dec. 28, 2000. He is survived by two daughters, Mary E. Lavine, Punta Gorda, and Leanna M. Johnson, Huffman, Texas; two sons, Michael Tavis, Lomita, Calif. and Leo Tavis, Jacksonville, Ala.; two siblings, nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Interment was in Memoral Gardens, Anniston, Ala.

TURTLE LAKE -- Anna M. Bossert, 91, Turtle Lake, died Jan. 19, 2001, in the Turtle Lake hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake, with burial in Turtle Lake Cemetery. Alice Mittleider
TAPPEN -- Alice Mittleider, 75, Tappen, died January 5, 2000 at her home. Services were held on Jan. 8, 2000 at Zion United Methodist Church, Tappen, with Rev. Grant Piehl officiating. Burial was in Fisher Cemetery, Tappen.
Alice Gilbertson was born on Aug. 7, 1924 on a farm north of Medina, ND, the daughter of Andrew and Bessie (Olson) Gilbertson. She received her elementary education north of Medina and in Crystal Springs. She graduated from Tappen High School, following graduation she taught school for three years.
She married Philip Mittleider Jr. on October 21, 1945 in Tappen. They built a farmsted south of Tappen. She began teaching again in 1951, she attended Valley City State College in the summer. She taught in Tanner, Valley, Crystal Springs, and Williams Townships. They moved back on their farm in 1959, where she continued to live until the time of her death.
Alice did adult foster home care for the past 35 years. She treasured the time she spent with her family and friends.
Alice is survived by five children, Paulette (Bill) Barnick, Tappen,; Karen (Larry) Dockter, Tappen; Debbie (David) Mayer, Twin Valley, Minn.; Rick (Char) Mittleider, Tappen; Twyla (Dean) Stroh, Tappen; four sisters, Gladys McGruder, Alma Gilbertson, and Ida Kleven all of Medina, and Minnie Mittleider, Tappen; one brother, Art Gilbertson,Dawson; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; and two special friends, Edith Dill and Frieda Klein, both of Tappen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Mittleider, her parents, two brothers, three sisters, and one grandchild. (Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown)
Ann Kurzweg
Ann (Regina) Kurzweg, 82, Mandan, died Jan. 11, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at First Baptist Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Stephen Saunders officiating. Burial will be in the Anamoose Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church.
Regina Neuman was born on Nov. 6, 1917 in Wells County, the daughter of William and Magdalena (Klein) Neuman. She married Albert Kurzweg on Nov. 25, 1937 at Cathay. They lived in Rugby, Minot and Grand Forks before moving to Harvey in 1950 where they owned and operated Al's Farm Electric. Ann was an accomplished seamstress and tailor and enjoyed crocheting. She made afghans for all her grandchildren. A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, she had been a resident of Mandan since November of 1996.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Filler, Bismarck, and Linda Otto and her husband, Ron, Mandan; her son, Ed, and his wife, Sandra, Fargo; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Selma Berg, Hillsboro, Ore., Natalie Paulson, Carrington, and Ann Marie Boeck, Spokane, Wash.; and four brothers, Herman, Carrington, Wesley, Crookston, Minn., and William and Clifford, both of Washington state.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, who died on June 24, 1985; her grandson, Jeffrey Filler; and her brothers, Ervin and Warner Neuman. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan)
