Donald Breen
WILLISTON -- Donald Breen, 73, Williston, died Sept. 3, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Williston, with the Rev. Marianne Ell officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. A family service will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at Everson Funeral Home, Williston. Family and friends are welcome. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday, both at Everson Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Donald W. Breen was born Dec. 29, 1926 in Bismarck, the son of Harold and Lyland (Little) Breen. Don was raised on the family farm, north of Bismarck, and he continued to farm the land until the early 30's. He then went to work in the automobile industry, working for the General Motor Company, and several Chevrolet dealerships throughout the western part of North Dakota. Don worked for 32 years in the automobile industry. On July 19, 1980, Donald was united in marriage to Ruth Nordtvedt in Bowman. They then established their home in Williston and lived there through the many succeeding years. Many of Don's after-retirement jobs were working for Lowes Greenhouse, Burlington Northern Transport, Christmas tree sales, and driving for the Williston car dealers. Donald was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He spent many years actively involved with the 4H program, the Knights of Columbus, and the Farmer's Union. He loved his plants, gardening, playing pinochle, and cross country traveling. Donald is survived by his wife, Ruth; five daughters and four sons: Kathy Breen, Bismarck, Jacki Perman, Electric City, Wash., David Breen, Craig, Colo., Toni Wolf, Bowman, Vicki Theilen, Bowman, Mark Breen, Dickinson, Mary Lewton, Dickinson, Leon Breen, Bismarck, John Breen, Bowman; three stepdaughters and two stepsons: Sheila Davis and Robert Lunder, both of Billings, Mont., Denise Fisher, Rhame, Mike Leach, Williston, and Michelle Vig, Williston; four sisters, Jean Kaiser, Bismarck, Carol Yantz, Denver, Colo., Harolyn Huerta, Santa Anna, Calif., Rosalie Strauss, Longmont, Colo.; 25 grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald; one son, William; and a daughter, Sharon Frank. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Ida Jerome
GARRISON -- Ida Jerome, 87, Garrison, died Sept. 3, 2000 in a Minot nursing home. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Olga. She is survived by one sister, Ida Wehri, Grand Forks; three sons, Laurence, Garrison, Leo, Algoma, Wis., and Lyle, Little Canada, Minn.; five daughters, Gloria Shirek, Garrison, Mary Denault, Green Bay, Wis., Laura Duncan McRainey, Spokane, Wash., Norlene Belgarde, Garrison, and Carol Gray, Max; 37 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Emma Neibauer
Emma Neibauer, 96, Mandan, died Sept. 3, 2000 in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation for the public begins from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Visitation continues from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday at Weigel Funeral Home. Emma (Wirtz) Neibauer was born Jan. 5, 1904 in Mandan. She was the daughter of Nickademus and Marie Eva (Hoff) Wirtz. Emma was raised and educated in Mandan. She married Frank L. Neibauer on July 25, 1928 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan. Emma worked for the Mandan Creamery and Produce Company (now Cloverdale) as a bookkeeper for 35 years. She has been a resident of Medcenter One Care Center, Mandan since March of 1998. Emma's green thumb could be seen with her beautiful flower garden each year. She played bingo, cards including, Kings Corners, Whist and Canasta. She enjoyed music and dancing the polkas and waltzes that were taught to her as a young gal. Family was very important to Emma and Sunday was considered a visiting day. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Monica Neibauer, Mandan; and one daughter and son-in-law, Bernardine "Bernie" and Art Digby, Mandan; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank, who died on Aug. 18, 1937, three brothers and three sisters. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)
June Rovig
June Rovig, 85, Mandan, died Sept. 1, 2000, in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Paul D. Fiske officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon today, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. June was born on June 1, 1915, in Mandan, the daughter of John and Minnie (Olson) Rovig. A graduate of Mandan High School, she began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone as an operator in 1936. She moved to the Bismarck office in 1948, transferred first to the Mandan business office and then to the Minot district office in 1955. In 1964, she returned to Mandan, where she retired in March 1979 after 43 years of service. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting and dining out with family and friends. She was a member of the Pioneers of Northwestern Bell. She is survived by her cousins, Del Skjod, Susan Kocourek, Jim Skjod and Nora Schantz, all of Mandan, Robert Skjod, Sacramento, Calif., Luella Loven, California and Carol Smith, Jim Smith, Marjorie Spenst and Janet Smith, all of Oregon. Ana Sophia Hanhan, the infant daughter of Lisa Tschider Hanhan and Peter Kenan Hanhan, Minneapolis, was born and died Sept. 3, 2000, in a Minneapolis hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Zastoupil officiating. Ruth M. Hayes
Ruth M. Hayes, 87, Bismarck Baptist Home, died Sept. 5, 2000, in the home. A family service was held September 6 at Eastgate Funeral Service, with the Rev. Clyde Leimberer officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Dubuque, Iowa. Ruth M. Daykin was born Dec. 3, 1912, in Dubuque, the daughter of Allan T. and Marcia (Gladwin) Daykin. She was raised and educated in Dubuque. She married Chester W. Hayes in Dubuque. Chester died in April 1955. Ruth moved to Bismarck in 1971. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and playing bingo. Ruth is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Art Ricke, Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Jeri Hayes, Dubuque, Iowa; four grandchildren, Linda Werner, Steven Ricke and Gary Ricke, all of Bismarck, and Jeannie Hayes, Dubuque; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; and granddaughter, Karla; and one great-grandson, Lee. The family prefers memorials to Bismarck Baptist Home. (Eastgate Funeral Service)
Edwin A. Holle
NEW SALEM -- Edwin A. Holle, 87, New Salem, died Sept. 6, 2000, in the New Salem care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Saturday at Salem United Church of Christ, New Salem, with the Rev. Ken Trana officiating. Burial will be in Peace Cemetery, New Salem. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday at Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, and will continue from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, New Salem. Visitation will also be held at the church one hour before services. Edwin was born March 15, 1913, on the Holle farmstead northwest of New Salem, the son of Fred and Margaret (Tellmann) Holle. As a youth, he was a member of 4-H, New Salem Calf Club and the Holstein Circuit. A bachelor all of his life, Edwin enjoyed traveling. He had visited every state in the United States, and countries of Europe, Mexico, Canada and Australia. He loved taking pictures and showing slides of his travels. A dairy farmer in partnership with his brother, Walter, he lived on the Holle farmstead with the Walter Holle family. He retired from farming in 1977 and moved to New Salem. He entered Elm Crest Manor in the fall of 1997. Edwin loved to tease. His biggest tease was saying he was allergic to women! He also loved to joke. Whether it was at home, the farm or Toepke's Garage, Edwin had a new joke to share. It brought such a twinkle to his eyes. He was a lifelong member of United Church of Christ, New Salem, New Salem Historical Society, Farmers Union of North Dakota, SRC, Bismarck-Mandan Solos Club, and the Brotherhood of Peace United Church of Christ. Edwin is survived by his nephew, Kenton Holle, and his wife, Bobby Jo, New Salem; his nieces, Janice Just and her husband, Alan, Terry, Mont., and Kathleen Cooper, Cooroy, Queensland, Australia; his grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Dana Just, Buffalo, N.Y., Bradley Just, Las Vegas, Douglas Cooper and Evan Cooper, both of Cooroy, Andrew Holle, Micheal Holle and James Holle, all of New Salem; and one sister-in-law, Lillian Holle, New Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margaret Holle; his sisters, Louise Holle, Lydia Holle and Alma Rabe; his brothers, Albert and Walter; and his grand-niece, Stephanie R. Holle.

Catherine Kubisiak
Catherine Lovin Kubisiak, 88, Grand Junction, Colo., died Aug. 31, 2000, in her home. She was born in Mandan on Nov. 5, 1911, to Melchior "Mel" Herner and Magdaline Knoll Herner, the sixth of 12 children. Her parents, three brothers and eight sisters preceded her in death. Catherine attended schools in Mandan, and was employed by the Bank of North Dakota in Bismarck until her retirement. She married Carl G. Lovin of Bismarck on Aug. 4, 1947, at Great Falls, Mont. Carl died Sept. 14, 1987. Catherine married James K. Kubisiak on May 18, 1990. They lived in Bismarck until May 28, 1999, moving then to Grand Junction, where she lived with her husband until her death. Travel was a major joy for Catherine, giving her opportunity to develop an avid hobby photographing scenic areas of the United States and Canada. She also enjoyed walking and hiking in scenic areas of numerous national parks, monuments and wilderness areas. She is survived by her husband, James; and his six children, Thomas and family, Portland, Ore., Kathleen and family, Billings, Mont., Russell and family, Missoula, Mont., Mary and husband, Billings, Steven, Ft. Collins, Colo., and Michael, Ft. Collins. A short prayer service for family will be held on Sept. 20 in Fairview Cemetery in Bismarck at 1:30 p.m. (Callahan-Edfast Mortuary)

Donald G. Robinson
Donald G. Robinson, 40, Bismarck, died Sept. 1, 2000, in Minneapolis. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Bradley Stoltenow and Thomas Marcis Jr. officiating. A private family burial will be held. Don was born Oct. 16, 1959, in Williston, the son of Jean and Leona (Wehmhoefer) Robinson. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1978. Don has lived and worked in Bismarck and the Minneapolis area most of the time since then. He is survived by his parents; three sisters, Kim Hensley, Minneapolis, Karen Robinson, Bismarck, and Cindy Mettler, Walla Walla, Wash.; one brother, David Robinson, Fargo; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
