The Rev. Francis V. Tannehill, 93, died Sept. 30, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck. DRAKE -- Mike L. Duchsherer, 72, Drake, died Oct. 2, 2000 at his home. A private family graveside service will be held at Balfour Cemetery on Thursday. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. today at Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home, Drake. Mike L. Duchsherer, son of Andrew and Rose (Brossart) Duchsherer was born on Feb. 7, 1928 on the family farm near Rangley in Balfour Township. He attended country school in the Rangley area. While growing up on the family farm, he acquired the enjoyment of farming with his father and brothers. On Nov. 8, 1957, he was married to Karene Kemper. They made their home in Drake and farmed in the Drake and Balfour area. He remained active in farming with his sons until his death. In addition to farming, he did carpentry work with his father-in-law, in the surrounding area and custom hauled coal to various schools, businesses and homes in the Drake area. He is survived by his wife, Karene; two sons, Mark and Michael, both of Drake; two daughters, Kathy Duchsherer, Minot, and Kimberly (Dwight) Hegel, Bismarck; two grandsons, Chad and Chane Hegel, Bismarck; three brothers, Eustachius, Drake, Jack, Velva, and Joe; and three sisters, Frances (Mrs. Joe) Thomas, Velva, Lena (Mrs. John) Richter, Minot, and Kathryn Ziegler, Seattle, Wash. Margareta Ihli
Margareta Ihli, 86, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, died Oct. 3, 2000 in a local hospital. Services will be held at noon Friday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Charlie Heidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Linton. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. with a rosary service at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Margareta was born Dec. 13, 1913 in Odessa, Russia, to Ferdinand and Emilie (Fleckenstein) Wingenbach. During the war, she was driven out of her home and fled to Germany. She married John Ihli on Oct. 12, 1937. In 1951, Margareta and John came to America and settled in Linton where she worked in a cafe. She is survived by special friends, Bill and Clara Blotsky, Bismarck. Margareta was preceded in death by her husband and 12 brothers and sisters. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)
Gary Kenneth Ironroad
FORT YATES -- Gary "Ernie" Kenneth Ironroad, 40, Fort Yates, died Oct. 2, 2000 in the Fort Yates hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at Veterans Memorial Building, Cannon Ball, with the Rev. Casmir Paluck officiating. Burial will be in Red Cedar Cemetery, Solen. A rosary service begins at 10 a.m. Friday with visitation continuing until time of service, also at the Veterans Memorial Building. Gary was born Dec. 10, 1959 at San Francisco, Calif., to Albert and Serena (Eagle Boy) Ironroad. He graduated from Solen High School in 1978 and worked for the Nutrition for the Elderly Program. He married Adeline White Twin on May 30, 1997 in Fort Yates. Gary enjoyed playing softball with the Cannon Ball Bullets and volunteering for the Episcopal Food Pantry in Fort Yates. He is survived by his wife, Adeline; one son, Brently Ironroad, Fort Yates; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Beverly and Donald Fox, Cannon Ball, Elizabeth and Gerald White, Chamberlain, S.D.; five brothers and one sister-in-law, Robert and Laurel, William, Perry, Timothy, all of Fort Yates, and Michael Ironroad, Solen; one uncle, Joseph Ironroad, Lower Brule, S.D.; and many cousins. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Serena Ironroad; one brother, Albert Jr.; his grandparents; and two uncles, George and Walter Ironroad. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)

Beulah Bateman
BEULAH -- Beulah Bateman, 76, 111 First St. S.E., Beulah, died Oct. 3, 2000, in the Hazen hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Julian Nix officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. Friday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Beulah Bateman was born March 18, 1924, on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. She was raised and educated on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, graduating from Elbowoods High School. She continued her education and graduated from nursing college in 1948. Beulah worked as a registered nurse in Pipestone, Minn. for two years, Mini Tah Heh Hospital in New Town for five years, and IHS Hospital in Fort Yates for 10 years, retiring in 1987. She then moved to Beulah where she has been a resident the past 12 years. Beulah was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed watching baseball and football, her favorite team being the Minnesota Vikings. She kept track of the teams individual players statistics and followed players performances on a weekly basis. She found great joy in working with Find a Word Puzzle books and would us a ruller as a guideline. She is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Beulah was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Guy and Paul; and one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Emory DiCeare.

STERLING -- Victoria Feist, 68, Sterling, died Oct. 4, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. George Dukart officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will begin at 7:30 tonight. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services. Victoria Feist was born on June 10, 1932, south of Napoleon, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Voller) Bitz. Victoria was raised and educated in Burnstad. She married George Feist of Burnstad in Napoleon, on July 2, 1951. Victoria enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, and spending time with, and caring for her family. She is survived by her husband, George; five sons and three daughters-in-law, George and Geraldine, Gerard and Julie, and Gary and Glen, all of Sterling, and Gregory Feist and Linda (Gumke), Steele; six daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and David Bender, Thorton, Colo., Rita and Darrell Bertsch, McClusky, Mary and Clint Renken, Teresa and Randall Kuntz, all of Mandan, Alice and Brian Geloff, Apple Valley, Minn., and Victoria and Jeff Barth, Driscoll; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Adam and Marlys Bitz, Lisbon, Joe and Marilyn Bitz, and John and Sally Bitz, all of Bismarck, Al and Mabel Bitz, Fort Rice, and Mickey Nehl, Rosemond, Calif.; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Isabelle Schmidt, Wishek, and Alvina and Clifford Kluth, Rosemond, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leo and Joey Bitz; and two sisters, Rose Feist and Margaret Nehl.

Curtis Ervin Jacobson
ARENA -- Curtis Ervin Jacobson, 84, Arena, died Oct. 3, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan, withthe Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Curtis was born May 29, 1916, in Becker, Minn., the son of Raymond and Amelia (Hawkenson) Jacobson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a tank driver. After the war, he ranched with his brother for a few years. He worked various jobs in Minnesota, Montana and North Dakota. He worked at the Patterson Ranch for several years. In 1973 he came to the Eide farm at Arena, where he lived until his death. Curtis always enjoyed being around horses and cattle, and rode in the rodeos in his younger days. He was a true old-time cowboy. He had three special children on the Eide farm, who were at his side from the time they were born, whom he dearly loved; Gene Eide IV, Lori Agnew and Jody Eide. He always found time to spend with the kids. He also leaves two special friends, Junie (Ingvald) and Rose Eide, whom he lived with for 26 years.
