Victoria D. Fransen
Victoria D. Fransen, 91, Bismarck, died Aug. 16, 2000 in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Tom Dunham officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Victoria was born April 27, 1909 at Coleharbor, to John and Anna (Nelson) Fransen. She graduated from Coleharbor High School and received her teaching certificate from Minot State Teachers College. Victoria taught school in rural McLean County for several years. She attended Capitol Commercial College in Bismarck. She was employed by the Bank of North Dakota and worked 26 years at Gold Seal Company in Bismarck. After her retirement, she continued to live in Bismarck. Victoria was a member of First Lutheran Church in Bismarck and was very active there. Victoria is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Arvid and Bernice Fransen, Bismarck; one niece, Mary Fransen and her husband, Jim Johnson, Northfield, Minn.; two nephews, Robert and his wife, Melanie Fransen, Eden Prairie, Minn., and John and his wife, Renee Fransen, Coleharbor; and five grand nieces and nephews, Emily, Erin, Carrie, Matt and Brian. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Anne Fransen. Victoria loved life. She was a very special person to her family and friends. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)

Lena Fischer
Lena Fischer, 70, died Aug. 17, 2000 in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Edwin Wehner officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a rosary and vigil service will be said at 7 p.m. tonight. Lena was born April 23, 1930 at Strasburg, the daughter of Aaron and Nathlie (Deichert) Reinhold. She grew up and attended school in Strasburg. On June 12, 1951, she married Peter B. Fischer. Following their marriage, they moved to Bismarck. Lena retired from the Bismarck-Mandan Convention Visitors Bureau. She was a long-time member of the St. Mary's Altar Society. Lena enjoyed gardening, canning and playing cards. She loved her family and enjoyed her role as mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mom will be greatly missed by her surviving family, two sons and daughters-in-law, Conrad and Judy, and Ron and Brenda; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Marv Kuchenski and Cindy and Dave Schuch, all of Bismarck; 10 grandchildren, Jesse, Tatum and Ryan Kuchenski, Gavin, Jordan and Kayla Fischer, Austin, Chad and Kierstin Schuch, and Jason Faith; and five great-grandchildren. Emily Kiemele
Emily Kiemele, 88, Bismarck, died Aug. 17, 2000 at her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Linton, with the Rev. Clyde Leimberer officiating. Burial will be in Linton City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. that evening. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Emily was born Feb. 2, 1912 on a farm west of Linton, the daughter of Jacob Sr. and Margaret (Lang) Kiemele. She was educated in rural schools. She moved into Linton in 1934 where she was employed at Kremer Furniture and Hardware and was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. In 1962, she moved to Bismarck and worked as a nurses' aid at the Bismarck Hospital. During this time, she assisted doctors in interpreting for German speaking patients. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, reading and walking. She was named Volunteer of the Week for the Retired Senior Volunteers Program, RSVP, a United Way agency. Emily attended the Bismarck Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Prayer and Share Group and the senior citizens group. She also attended the Baptist Home Chapel. Emily is survived by her sister, Esther, Linton; a niece, Elaine Breckel, Bismarck; many nieces and nephews; her caretakers, Ceal Boehm and Sandy Kraft; and her special nurse, Justine Bennes. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Emanuel, John, Ferdinand and Jake; and three sisters, Martha Weber, Ernestine Kiemele and Lydia Tschritter. Audrey R. Lang
Audrey R. Lang, 82, Bismarck, died Aug. 16, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jeff Tengesdal officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation will also continue Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Audrey was born on July 25, 1918 in Pelican Rapids, Minn., to Olaf and Ida (Anderson) Rosdahl. She grew up and attended school in Pelican Rapids and Sauk Centre, Minn. She married George H. Lee on Oct. 17, 1935 and lived in Long Prairie, Minn. In 1952, they moved to Riverdale, where Audrey was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 25 years. She married Wilmer P. Lang on April 18, 1970. They retired to Bismarck in September 1979. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, NARFE and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Audrey enjoyed gardening, painting and spending time with her family. She is survived by two sons, Gary and wife Betty Lee, Minot, and George "Bud" Lee, Burbank, Calif.; one daughter, Kim Lee, St. Paul, Minn.; two granddaughters, Karen and husband Paul Prout, Wahpeton, and Linda Lee, Minot; one sister, Louise and husband Joy Cummings, Turlock, Calif., and one brother, Lloyd Rosdahl, Gasonia, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer P. Lang; her parents; one sister, Olive Ross and three brothers, Harry, Ole and Ted Rosdahl. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Geraldine F. Klug
GRAND FORKS -- Geraldine F. Klug, 58, Grand Forks, died Aug. 14, 2000, in her home. Services were held Friday at Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel, Grand Forks, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks. Geraldine Floy Fogle was born Oct. 26, 1941, the daughter of James G. and Floy (Slavick) Fogle in Mineral Springs, Texas. Her family moved to Mandan where she was raised and graduated from high school. She married Ralph C. Klug on June 13, 1959, in Mandan. They moved to Grand Forks in 1962. She worked for the North Dakota State Geological Survey in Grand Forks from 1962 until retiring in 1979. She was a past president of XI Delta Chapter of the Beta Phi women's organization. She is survived by her husband; one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Mark Wurzbacher, Grand Forks; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. The family prefers memorials to Multiple Sclerosis Society, Dakota Chapter, P.O. Box 10038, Fargo, N.D. 58106-0038.

He is survived by seven daughters, Claudia VanVliet, Spokane, Wash., Patty Mason, Michelle Turnbeaugh, Frances Murdock, Judy Thompson and Brenda Schultz, all of Stockton, Calif., and Kim Cimfl, Glendale, Ore.; four sons, Randy, Spokane, Karl and Rick, both of Stockton, and Michael Jr., Kingman, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Mindy Kelly, Drake, and Kari Weigel, Balta; and one stepson, Timothy Kelly, Pleasanton, Calif. Harold Raymond Peterson
DICKINSON -- Harold Raymond Peterson, 86, Oakdale, Minn., died Aug. 18, 2000, in a Stillwater, Minn. hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MDT Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with the Rev. Noel T. Vold officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Richardton. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Harold was born Aug. 27, 1913, to Maurice and Irene (Rognaldson) Peterson on a ranch in Mercer County near Golden Valley, where he grew up. He married Caroline Bentz, Nov. 10, 1934, in St. John's Lutheran Church, Richardton. She died in 1984. He then married Marie Widmyer in 1986 at Stillwater. After graduating from high school, he worked at a meat market in Dodge. Following their marriage, he and Caroline moved to Bismarck where he worked as a bookkeeper at the Capitol. They moved to Beulah in 1942, where he worked as a bookkeeper and payroll accountant at the coal mines. In 1944 they moved to Dickinson where he worked for the North Dakota State Highway Department. Harold later owned Dickinson Radio Service and Sales, and was in the investment business for a number of years. He loved to play horseshoes, cribbage and card games. He thoroughly enjoyed woodworking and gave many of his projects as gifts. Besides his wife, Marie, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Bernice E. and Bill Reinthaler, Clinton, Ill.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Hal W. and Sheila, Bismarck, and Roger and Gwynne, Findlay, Ohio; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Marguerite Laschkewitch, Bismarck, and Leona and Onnie Hamma, Bonner, Mont.; 10 grandchildren, Billy, Bret and Wade Reinthaler, Jodi Reinthaler Mrowiec and her husband, Jon, Lisa Peterson Lund and her husband, Sean, Shelli, R.J. and Sherri Peterson, Stephanie Peterson Morris and her husband, Jim, and Lana Peterson Luth and her husband, Brad; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Survivors also include Marie's wonderful family, Jim and Judy Widmyer, Marlene and Bob Germain, Darlene and Ken Getourneau, Carol Widmyer, Gary Widmyer and Duane and Val Widmyer. He was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin; and his sister, Evelyn Hamley. Memorials may be sent to the Lakeview Hospice, Stillwater, Minn.
