Reynold Kunkel
NEW SALEM -- Reynold K. Kunkel, 67, New Salem, died July 2, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. MDT Saturday at Peace Church, New Salem, with the Rev. Richard Herb officiating. Burial will be in Peace Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, New Salem, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Reynold was born Jan. 22, 1930, at New Salem, the son of Bernard and Anna (Maart) Kunkel. He was raised on the family farm and educated in New Salem. He married Alice Kobs, June 12, 1959, at New Salem. They were engaged in farming south of New Salem, living in the same house where he was born. Reynold enjoyed mechanics, restoring old cars and playing the guitar. He found a great deal of pleasure in visiting with friends and strangers alike.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; one daughter, Renelle Kunkel, Dickinson; and four sisters, Helen Siems, Trent, S.D., Loretta Schwinkendorf, Minot, Avertia Buchanan, Denver, and Lois Schneider, Steele.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Floyd Kunkel.

Molly Voegele
ARTHUR -- Molly Voegele, 88, Arthur, died June 10, 1997, in Arthur. Services will be at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at First Congregational Church, Hebron, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

She is survived by one daughter, Marlys Goetz, West Fargo.

Harold Wittmayer
WISHEK -- Harold Wittmayer, 65, Wishek, died June 8, 1997, in the Wishek hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Fredonia, with burial in Kulm Congregational Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; three sons, Harold, Fredonia, Kevin, Fargo, and Timothy, Fredonia; and his mother, Edyth, Wishek. (Haut Funeral Home, Wishek)

Adelaide Waller
PARSHALL -- Adelaide Brunsell Waller, 67, Parshall, died June 11, 1997, in her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Church of Christ, Parshall. Further arrangements are pending at Johnson Funeral Home, Parshall.

John Hickey
BELFIELD -- John E. Hickey, 56, Belfield, died June 8, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by two brothers, James, Great Falls, Mont., and Joe, Trenton, Mo., and four sisters, Judith Hancock, Merrillan, Wis., Janice Hlebechuk, Phoenix, and Joan Hickey and Jean Hickey, both of Belfield. (Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson)

Emma Pischel
UNDERWOOD -- Emma R. Pischel, 90, Mandan, formerly of Underwood, died June 11, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Underwood, with burial in Underwood Cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters, Ruthie Kastrow, Underwood, and Jean Neuberger, The Dalles, Ore.; two brothers, Herb Birkholz, Tacoma, Wash., and Tobias Birkholz, Beulah; and three sisters, Katie Rumsey, Anchorage, Alaska, Ida Erbele, Tacoma, and Alma Onstatt, Post Falls, Idaho. Marlene Carlson
HAZELTON -- Marlene Carlson, 56, Hazelton, died June 10, 1997, in the Linton hospital. Arrangements are pending at Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Steve Baumgartner
STRASBURG -- Steve Baumgartner, 70, Minneapolis, formerly of Strasburg, died May 18, 1997, at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by one sister, Anna Schlosser, Strasburg; and four brothers, Pius, Strasburg, Jacob, Bismarck, Albert, Hague, and Peter, Milwaukee. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)

Helga Summers
WILLISTON -- Helga Homdrom Summers, 83, Williston, died June 11, 1997, in the Watford City nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Glenn Wilmes
BEULAH -- Glenn F. Wilmes, 84, Beulah, died in his sleep, June 10, 1997, at his home in Beulah. Services will be at 3 p.m. MDT Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beulah, with the Rev. James Reardon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah. A vigil service will begin at 7:30 tonight at the church.

Glenn was born in 1912 at Miles City, Mont., a son of Peter and Theresa (Tavis) Wilmes. When Glenn was a toddler the family moved to Glen Ullin, where he was raised and educated. After school Glenn worked on farms in the Glen Ullin and Beulah areas. On Oct. 28, 1935, he married to Margaret Waleri at St. Ann's in Hebron. They lived in Hebron until 1936 when they moved to Beulah. After moving to Beulah, Glenn went to work for Knife River Coal for 16 years. After working at Knife River, Glenn owned the Texaco station and bulk service until 1958 when he went back to work for Knife River Coal until his retirement in 1977. Glenn worked part time in farming for the Herman family for more than 60 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, was a volunteer fireman, sang in the church choir, was on the church council and volunteered himself as a church groundskeeper for many years. He enjoyed card playing, golf and was one of the few men that would blow up ice jams on the Knife River in the spring.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Leslie Welk, Monroe, Wash.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jerome and Rosalin, Olympia, Wash., Bernard and Shirley, Aurora, Colo., Deryle and Jodye, Rock Springs, Wyo., and Duane and Rosalie, Houston; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Pauline Schonert, Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Helen Wilmes, New Town, Leona Schneider, Beulah, Marian Filibeck, Rapid City, S.D., and Eileen Gerving, Glen Ullin; four brothers, Wilfred, Arthur and John, all of Lake Havasu City, and Donald, Richardton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; one brother, Raymond; two infant children; and one great-grandchild.

Michael Larmon
Michael A. Larmon, 39, 215 E. Arikara Ave., died June 11, 1997, in his home after a long battle with cancer. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Kenneth Phillips officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. CDT at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, Flasher.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Dakota Memorial Chapel, where a parish vigil and rosary will be said at 8 p.m.

Michael Allen Larmon was born June 15, 1957, at Omaha, Neb., a son of Peter and Jaunita (Hultquist) Larmon. He grew up in the Omaha-Council Bluffs, Iowa, area, graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1975. He attended college at the University of South Dakota at Vermillion. He worked at various jobs and was a leak survey consultant with Heath Consultants for the last 15 years. On Oct. 2, 1992, he married Bev Braun in Bismarck, where they have since resided.

Mike enjoyed playing many games, was active in dart and pool leagues and especially enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Bev; his parents, Juanita and Peter Larmon, Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sisters, Sallie Larmon, Omaha, Neb., and Caralee Larmon, Council Bluffs; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Prescott and June, Omaha, and Steven, Council Bluffs; several nieces and nephews who were especially dear to him; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Clara Braun, Raleigh, and their families.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials.

Susan Schaefbauer
Susie Schaefbauer, 85, Herreid, S.D., died Sept. 9, 1998, in a Mobridge, S.D. hospital. Services will be held at 10-30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Herreid. Further arrangements are pending with Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge.

Edward Eliasson
Edward "Ed" Eliasson, 80, Bismarck, died Sept. 8, 1998, in a local care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Eastgate Funeral Chapel, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jeff Tengesdal officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be 11 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Chapel, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to the service at Eastgate Funeral Chapel.

Edward Eliasson was born April 8, 1918, in Wing, the son of Edward and Lillian (Reckman) Eliasson. He attended grade school and one year of high school at Lyman No. 2 rural school. He worked on the family farm until he was 23, and then worked on a ranch near Bismarck. On Oct. 15, 1942, he married Mamie Eckholm in Moorhead, Minn. They moved to Bismarck in the spring of 1943. Ed left the ranch to find work in the automobile mechanic field, which he had learned by borrowing books from the library. In 1950, they moved to eastern North Dakota where he pioneered in automatic transmission repair. In 1960, they returned to Bismarck where he continued working on automatic transmissions until retirement in 1981.

He enjoyed his retirement by traveling, camping and going on fishing trips with his family. He spent several winters in Phoenix and Texas. He loved to play billiards and enjoyed playing with the Senior Center Swing Band and performing in nursing homes in Bismarck and neighboring towns. He served two years in the Silver Haired Assembly and was treasurer of the Aging Network of North Dakota for two years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Eagles and the Elks. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James and Darlene; two grandchildren, Blake and Trish; two sisters, Edna Koski, Steele, and Violet Manolovits, Bismarck; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie; his parents; two infant sons and one infant daughter. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)

Scott Kennedy
Scott James Kennedy was born March 14, 1965, to James and Patricia Kennedy at Crystal. He moved to Bismarck in July of 1966 with his parents. Scott had two sisters, Kim Kennedy Soderholm and Molly Kennedy.

Scott attended school in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1983. He attended and graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1988 with a degree in aviation administration. He was employed in the airline industry until March of 1996. At that time, he traveled to Sunch'on South Korea to teach conversational English at Sunch'on High School. He was teaching at the time of his death on Sept. 7, 1998.

Scott had the gift of living in the present, learning from every life experience that he had and every person that he met. His jobs around the country and in Korea, as well as his travels around the world had given Scott a countless family of friends. We will miss his creativity and incredible sense of humor. Over the last year, Scott had been assisting with planning a sports courtyard on the campus of Sunch'on High School and memorials will be given to the school.

Services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at 3 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Bismarck.

Scott is survived by his mother, Patty Kennedy, his father, Jim Kennedy, and his sister, Molly Kennedy, all of Bismarck; his sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Paul Soderholm, Fargo; his niece and nephew, Anna and Jay Soderholm; and his grandmother, Eileen Kennedy, Bismarck; and his many friends.

Dwinia Usselman
Dwinia Usselman, 62, 211 Sixth Ave. S.W., Mandan, died Sept. 7, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a parish vigil at 7:30 tonight. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Dwinia (Bridger) Usselman was born on Nov. 11, 1935, in Troy, Texas. She was the daughter of Perry and Ruby (McPhearson) Bridger. Dwinia was raised and educated in Troy, graduating from Troy High School on May 26, 1953. She attended and graduated from Mary Hardin Bay College in Belton, Texas. On Jan. 19, 1955, she married Anthony Usselman in Fort Hood, Texas.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Paul and Bonnie, Hazen, and Chris, Mandan; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Becky and Tony Roe, Colorado Springs, Colo., JoAnn and Tom Perius, Mandan, Betty Baumiller, Mandan, Peggy Hieb and her special friend, Pete Petz, Mandan, and Donna and Gene Berger, Mandan; 11 grandchildren, Leslie, Tony, Alysa, Austin, Matt, Sarah, Jimmy, Gary, Terry, Rachel and Kyle; one brother, Charlie Bridger, Mesquite, Texas; and two sisters, Sandra Campbell, Fulton, Mo., and Peggy Baggett, Mesquite, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Anthony, who died in 1990. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)

Wilbert Krause
HAZEN -- Wilbert J. Krause, 72, Hazen, died Sept. 7, 1998, in the Hazen hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Hazen, with the Rev. Charles Zins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Harold Larson, Albert Mittelsteadt, Mike Krause, Ted Krause, Tim Krause, Kip Krause, Liz Krause and Mary McNamee.

Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. MDT today at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen. A rosary service will be said at 7 MDT tonight at the church.

Wilbert John Krause was born on June 7, 1926, in Hazen, the youngest son of Dan and Regina (Schweigert) Krause. He grew up and attended school in Hazen before entering the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific in 1943. After the end of World War II, Wilbert returned to Hazen and worked as a lineman for newly formed Oliver-Mercer Electric Cooperative. On Sept. 11, 1946, he married Betty Lou Retterath at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Hazen. Together, Betty and Willie owned and operated Box's Bar, Krause's Korral, Willie's Bar and Steak House and the Hazen Hotel.

He was a member of the Clark Grosz American Legion Post, Hazen, and was active in the state and local drum and bugle corps and was a past district commander of the American Legion. Willie worked in construction crafts for many years, as a member of Local 647 Boilermakers Union and Local 627 United Association of Plumber and Steamfitters Union. He retired in 1968 and enjoyed throwing horseshoes, bowling, bicycling, watching ball games and visiting with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; four sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Bonnie, and Ted and Tammy, all of Hazen, Tim and Jan, Waterville, Ohio, and Kip and DeNae, Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Liz Krause, Hazen, and Mary and Bill McNamee, Harrisburg, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Ervin, Prineville, Ore.; and two sisters, Wilma Hartze, Regent, and Elsie and Wes Foss, Dalles, Ore.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents. (Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen)

Ricky Schuh
MENOKEN -- Ricky "Rick" Schuh, 48, Menoken, died Sept. 7, 1998, at home of natural causes. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Hurdsfield Community Center. Burial will be in Goodrich City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Ricky Elmer Schuh was born on July 29, 1950, at Harvey. He was the son of Elmer and Viola (Eiselen) Schuh. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Hurdsfield. He attended school in Hurdsfield. He lived in McClusky where he worked for Cenex. He also lived in Linton, Bismarck, and most recently Menoken.

He was a member of the Laborer's Union Local No. 580 in Bismarck. He worked in construction and refitting of power plants and refineries. He also operated an auto repair and salvage business at his rural Menoken home.

Rick is survived by two sons, Ricky Raymond Schuh Sr., Everett, Wash., and Joshua Schuh, Bismarck; four daughters, DeAnna Schuh, Everett, Desaray, Shantel and Kayla Schuh, all of Bismarck; three grandchildren; his mother, Viola Schuh, Bismarck; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Kathleen, Wing, Sandy and Teri, Dickinson, John and Carrie, Daryl and Renee, all of Hurdsfield, and Ronald and Sharlene, Bismarck; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Ronald Dockter, and Linda and Arley Heer, all of Bismarck; and a special friend, Debbie Olson, Menoken.

Rick was preceded in death by his father on July 21, 1993. (Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)
