Michael Aberle
Michael P. Aberle, 68, Bismarck, died July 4, 1999, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Ascension, Bismarck, with the Rev. Marvin Klemmer officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home. A vigil and prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. tonight. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Michael Peter Aberle was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Aberdeen, S.D., the son of Mike J. and Catherine (Thomas) Aberle. Mike was raised and educated in Trail City and Mobridge, S.D. He joined Montana-Dakota Utilities Co., Mobridge Division in April 1949 as a lineman. He entered the United States Army in February 1952 and served a year in Germany. After his discharge in 1954, he resumed his job with MDU. On Feb. 21, 1955, Mike married LaVerne Kuehl in Selby, S.D.
Mike left MDU in 1963 to work for Main Electric and Morgan Power. In March 1973, he rejoined MDU in Bismarck as a lineman. In 1975, he became line crew foreman and in 1980, he transferred to the general office and was promoted to transmission construction supervisor, a position he held until his retirement in November 1994.
Mike was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 31 years. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his "coffee" friends. He loved to do yard work and was very proud of his yard.
He is survived by his wife, LaVerne; one daughter, Theresa Aberle, Bismarck; six brothers and five sisters-in-law, James and Helen, Kent, Wash., Joseph and Arlene, Miles City, Mont., Leo and Nina, Lexington, Mich., Stephen and Kay, Lakewood, Colo., Nicholas, Aberdeen, S.D., and Timothy and Sharon, Rittman, Ohio; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Dorothy Bickel, Humbolt, Iowa, Pauline and Eddie Berens, Selby, S.D., Lucille and Orvil Kuehl, Selby, Delores and and Gary Neumiller, Golden, Colo., Marjorie and Lawrence Vojta, New Albany, Ind., and Patricia Smith, Duluth, Ga.; four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Leo and Mavis Kuehl, Clarkfield, Minn., Eugene Kuehl, Wenatchee, Wash., Tilmer and Arlene Kuehl, Britton, S.D., Arlo Kuehl, Bismarck; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clifford Jacobsen
Clifford Ronald Jacobsen, 79, Bismarck, died June 29, 1999, in Sun City, Ariz. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Calvary United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jim Cissell officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Clifford was born on June 25, 1920, in Hope, the son of Anton and Petrea (Mortensen) Jacobsen. He was raised and educated in the Hope and Luverne areas. He later moved to Rapid City where he worked for the Conservation Corp. He was drafted into the Army in 1942 during World War II, and he served in the European Theater. He achieved two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for bravery.
After the war, he went back home and farmed for a short time. He married Delores Young in 1946. He then worked in construction, building highways. He also worked for Great Northern Railroad. He then worked for the North Dakota Game and Fish for 25 years until his retirement in 1986. Clifford married Molly Fetzer in 1974.
He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Disabled Veterans. He enjoyed working with wood and building furniture.
Clifford is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Leona and Alva Redding, Pearland, Texas, and Angela and David Tedder, Peoria, Ariz.; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Daniel and Teresa, Peoria, Ronald, Phoenix, Ariz., Wayne, Fort Worth, Texas, and Randy and Connie, Holloman Air Force Base, N.M.; six grandchildren; three sisters, Norma Carmichael, Ogden, Utah, Lolo Greenland, Hayward, Calif., and Edna Bauer, Santa Barbara, Calif.; and four brothers, Talbert Jacobsen, Valley City, Robert Jacobsen, Luverne, Donald Jacobsen, Grand Prairie, Texas, and Richard Jacobsen, Cumby, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Molly; one sister and three brothers; and an infant grandchild.

Edward Kurle, 88, 1725 N. Fourth St., died June 16, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at McCabe United Methodist Church. Further arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Doug Korang
HETTINGER -- Doug Korang, 42, Hettinger, died June 16, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital as a result of a motorcycle accident. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hettinger, with burial in Hettinger Cemetery.

Florence Swanson
Florence Salina Swanson, 86, New Hope, Minn., died June 15, 1997, in a New Hope nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Minn., with burial in Moffit Cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Eunice Nelson, Napoleon, Marleen Smetana, Scranton, and Marjorie Swanson, West Fargo; and one son, Rodney, New Hope. (Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria)

Adam Kirschenmann
JAMESTOWN -- Adam Kirschenmann, 85, Jamestown, died June 16, 1997, in his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday First Assembly of God Church, Jamestown, with burial in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.

Olga Mockel
WILLISTON -- Olga Mockel, 99, Williston, died June 16, 1997, in the Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Everson Funeral Home, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.
She is survived by two sons, Richard and Larry, both of Williston.; and two daughters, Cleo Schmitz, Williston, and Marlene Everson, Denver.
Alfred Stuhlmiller
BEULAH -- Alfred Stuhlmiller, 77, Beulah, died of cancer June 16, 1997, at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Kris Nyman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Barnhard Lang, Edwin Morast, Ernest Isaak, Jake Becker, Al Schmidt and John Schields. Serving as honorary pallbearers are all of Alfred's friends and relatives.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. MDT today at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.
Alfred was born May 6, 1920, in Dodge, a son of Albert and Minnie (Bauer) Stuhlmiller. He was raised and educated in rural schools around the Dodge area. On June 22, 1941, he married Anna Allmendinger, north of Dodge. After marriage Alfred and Anna started farming on his grandparents' homestead which they did for 45 years. In 1986 they retired and moved to Beulah.
Alfred was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, Beulah Eagles, A Birthday Club, and while in Dodge served on various boards. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing to old-time music and visiting with friends and the lonely at the Beulah nursing home. He loved collecting horses and tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; one son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Dee, Mandan; one daughter-in-law, Ardis Stuhlmiller, Bismarck; two grandsons, Tony Madolora, Hawaii, and Jay Stuhlmiller, Fargo; two granddaughters, Lanette Engdahl, Mandan, and Karman Rheault, Fargo; two great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Art and Hanna Stuhlmiller, Bismarck; and one sister and brother-in-law, Freida and Richard Frank, Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jerome; one brother, Edwin; and an infant sister.
He was loved by family and many friends, and he will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Sakakawea Home Health and Hospice, Hazen.
Robert Fruh
Robert K. Fruh, 75, Bismarck, died June 16, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Robert was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Tolley, the son of Alfred and Mabel (Lindbloom) Fruh. On July 13, 1942, in Tacoma, Wash., Robert was united in marriage to Marian Lowth. Robert was a fighter pilot for the Eighth Army Air Corp during World War II and was involved with his father in the independent oil business since its inception in North Dakota.
He is survived by his wife, Marian; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert R. and Joelle, Dickinson, and Bill and Kathryn, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and David Stassen, Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one brother, Alfred Jr., Minot.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Delores.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to American Red Cross or Salvation Army for North Dakota flood relief. (Bismarck Funeral Home)
Anastasia Mathis
Anastasia "Daisy" Mathis, 82, Marillac Manor, passed away June 16, 1997, after a lengthy illness. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Church of St. Ann, Bismarck, with the Revs. Ed Wehner and Hugo Blotsky officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a vigil service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by a rosary.
Anastasia Ternes was born July 10, 1914, in a sod house eight miles south of Raleigh. The youngest of 14 children, she was the daughter of Anton and Barbara (Seifert) Ternes, who immigrated to the United States from Germany in the early 1900s. Anastasia's parents had a homestead south of Raleigh and they gradually acquired additional land to fulfill the needs of a growing family. Anastasia became very familiar with all stages of farm life at a rather young age. As Anastasia grew older she would go to town for dances. It was at one of the dances that she met Carl Mathis. Anastasia and Carl began dating; and on Sept. 17, 1937, they were married in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Flasher. The young couple lived in Flasher for about six years before moving to Mott. They moved to Bismarck in 1955. They raised seven boys and four girls. The seven boys all served in the U.S. armed forces. In 1978 Carl retired, they continued to live in Bismarck. On Dec. 2, 1989, they moved to Marillac Manor. Carl passed away Jan. 31, 1992. Anastasia continued to live in the same apartment.
Anastasia enjoyed attending daily mass at Marillac Manor and St. Vincent's Care Center. She also enjoyed the bingo and watermelon parties and other activities available to the residents.
She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Agnes and Glenn Hillestad, Jenny Rhoten, and Nancy and LeRoy Feist, all of Bismarck, and Esther and Al Sutrick, Streamwood, Ill.; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Clarence and Shirley, Sophia, S.C., Martin and Louise, Virginia Beach, Va., David and Bev, St. Charles, Ill., Duane, Colville, Wash., and Richard, Vernal, Utah; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; one sister, Phyllis Stoltz, Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; two sons, Joseph, who died in the Korean War, and Chris, in 1997; and 12 brothers and sisters.
