Roger Kendall
Roger "Shorty" Kendall, 62, 2110 E. Divide Ave. No. 3, died Sept. 12, 1998, after a long battle with cancer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bismarck Evangelical Church, with the Rev. Kerry Stastny officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bismarck Funeral Home, and will continue one hour before services at the church.

Roger Lee Kendall was born Aug. 4, 1936, in Bismarck, the son of Allen and Stella (Laren) Kendall. He was raised in Moffit where he also received his education. Shorty entered the U.S. Army in 1955. He was discharged in 1956 and returned to Moffit. Shorty married Darlene Vossler in 1958 at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Bismarck. Shorty worked for Oscar Will Construction from 1958-1970. He then transferred to Seattle with the company. In 1971, Shorty returned to North Dakota and worked at Melroe, Dakota Ready Mix and Scherr Plastering from 1982-1993. He operated R&D Cleaning Service, maintaining the North Dakota Workmen's Comp Bureau from 1993 until he was forced to retire in April 1998 due to his ill health. Shorty also managed the apartment complex where he and Darlene have lived the past 10 years.

He was a charter member of Bismarck Evangelical Church. He was also on the church council for several years. While living in Seattle, Shorty found much joy in working on a NASCAR pit crew. He also had a love for country and country gospel music, horses and dogs. He had purchased a special little dog while he was ill to be his side kick -- Poncho.

Shorty always looked forward to his annual vacations to We-Fest, Medora and camping with Darlene and the grandchildren. He was able to fulfill a dream of visiting our nation's Capitol and the White House while visiting his son and daughter-in-law, Faron and Maureen, this past summer in spite of his illness.

Roger is survived by his wife of 40 years, Darlene; one son and daughter-in-law, Faron and Maureen, Stafford, Va.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Darla Wixcey, Hutchinson, Minn., and Sharman and Dale Chenoweth, Bismarck; six grandchildren, Mandy Kendall, Faron Jr. and Katie Kendall, Charles, Shayla and Kayla Alyea. He also leaves his mother, Stella Kendall, Bismarck; one brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Margaret, Minot; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie and Roger Nieland, Bismarck, Verna and Dwaine Payne, Moreland, Idaho, and Verlyn and Melvin Bauer, Mandan; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.

John Entringer
John Entringer, 78, 2516 E. Ave. C, died Sept. 13, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Tom Dunham officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1326.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

John J. Entringer was born March 10, 1920, in Wyndmere, the son of Nick and Mary (Dinger) Entringer. His family moved to the Bismarck area in 1922. He attended St. Mary's High School and graduated in 1938. John worked for Coca Cola Bottling Co. before going into the service during World War II. He served in a construction battalion and saw service in both the European and Pacific Theaters. Upon his return to civilian life, he started working as a sales representative. He was employed by Sweetheart Bakery, Keebler Co. and American Greeting Corp. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling in the United States and Europe, working in his yard and garden, attending sporting events and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Karin "Marie;" two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Beth and Ron Huber, Butte, and Joyce and George Fulford, La Crosse, Wis.; one son and daughters-in-law, Larry and Darlene, Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Maynard, Bismarck; and one sister, Mildred Root, Desert Hot Springs, Calif.

John was very proud of his three granddaughters; five grandsons and five great-grandchildren.

The family prefers memorials to First Lutheran Church or Home on the Range.

Melinda Randolph
CENTER -- Melinda "Lenoir" Randolph, 33, Center, died Sept. 13, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. CDT Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Center, with the Rev. John Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Center Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. CDT Wednesday and 9 a.m. CDT until service time Thursday, both at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Center.

Melinda was born in Belcourt on July 18, 1965, to Greg Lenoir and Rose Turner. She attended school in Belcourt, later moving to Washington State where she was a CNA. In 1994, she came home to Center, where she found several people who became her friends. At the time of her death, she was employed by Rick and Lisa Reichenberg at the Milk and Honey Grocery Store in Center.

Melinda went to meet her Creator on Sept. 13, 1998. She'll be missed very much by her special friend, David Yantzer, Center; two stepdaughters, Kayla and Katie Yantzer, Center; her mother, Rose Turner, Washington; her father and stepmother, Greg and Donna Lenoir, Center; four brothers, Ken Lenoir, Washington, Calvin Lenoir, Minnesota, Gene Hass, Kenmare, and Bill Lenoir, Center; four sisters, Pam Lenoir and Carol Fulford, Washington, Melisa Lenoir and Rose Ballinger, both of Minnesota; her grandmother, Marie Hass, Kenmare; one aunt, Eva Wilkie, Belcourt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Melinda was welcomed to her eternal home by her brothers, Gregory "Putzki" Lenoir, Gary Hass and Chad Lenoir; and her sisters, Renae Lenoir and Teressa DeCoteau. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan)

Thekla Senger
Thekla Senger, 72, Bismarck, died Sept. 12, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital after a long illness. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Thekla was born May 20, 1926, in Strasburg, the daughter of Anton and Natalia Reinbold. She grew up in the Strasburg area, where she received her education. She married Joe Senger, Oct. 6, 1948. They farmed in Hague until moving to Bismarck in 1953. Along with raising her family, Thekla volunteered her time at St. Anne's School and enjoyed baking. Thekla especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and appreciated the help and kindness of those who spent time with her. Thekla's warm smile and kindness will be remembered by all of those who loved her.

Thekla is survived by her husband, Joe; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Gladys Miller, Tennessee, Susan and Mike Leingang, Bismarck, Diane and Brad Ruff, Bakersfield, Calif., and Yvonne and David Becker, Dallas; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Tony and Jesyka, Santa Ana, Calif., Ron and Mary, Davenport, Iowa, Pat and Nancy, Bismarck, Bill, Bismarck, and Tim, Houston; 15 grandchildren; six sisters, Johanna Vetter, Lena Fischer and Theresa Reis, all of Bismarck, Monica Senger, Aberdeen, S.D., Katie Feist, Linton, and Eleanor Wagner, Mandan; and two brothers, John and Iggie, both of Strasburg.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pam; her parents; and two sisters and three brothers.

L. Eveline Green
TOWNER -- L. Eveline Green, 80, Towner, died Sept. 9, 1998, in a Rugby hospital. Services were held on Sept. 12, 1998, at Zion Lutheran Church, Towner. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Towner.

She is survived by her husband, Ross; four daughters, LaDonna Saari, Perth, Sharon Mayer, Bismarck, Betty Amon, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Susan McLean, Menoken; one son, Robert, Towner; two brothers, Melvin and Lawrence Nelson, both of Denbigh; and seven sisters, Alice Odland, Minot, Elnora Chugg, Phoenix, Ariz., Lillian Espeseth, Denbigh, Doris Laderman, Laguna Beach, Calif., Dorene Lamprecht, Redwood City, Calif., Selma Zabach, Bismarck, and Jeanette Herman, Towner. Judith Fredrick
Judith A. (Wyngarden) Fredrick, 56, Foley, Minn., and formerly of Bismarck, died Sept. 14, 1998, at her home of cancer. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church, Foley. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; two sons, Kurt and Keith, both of Minneapolis; three daughters, Christine (Fredrick) Nguyen, Longmount, Colo., Christine and Catherine Fredrick, both of Foley; her sisters, Jean Day, Stockport, England, and Kathleen Whiteman, Portland, Ore. Lillian Wolfe
HARVEY -- Lillian Wolfe, 68, Harvey, died Sept. 13, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

She is survived by three daughters, Garlet Schmaltz, Harvey, Jeanne Frey, Minot, and Laurie Lloyd, Fessenden; two sons, Curtis Melby, Heaton, and Virgil Melby, Fargo. (Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)

James Readel
James Allen Readel, 45, Cottonwood, Ariz., and formerly of Jamestown, died Sept. 12, 1998, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Jamestown.

He is survived by two sons, Allen James and Dakota, both of Fielding, Utah; and three sisters, Jackie Anderson and Joan Knoblich, both of Jamestown, and Judy Augspurger, Dallas.

Richard LaPray
WILDROSE -- Richard LaPray, 91, Wildrose, died Sept. 13, 1998, in a Williston hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, Wildrose.

He is survived by his wife, Iona; three sons, Russell, Las Vegas, Nev., David, Ocala, Fla., and Gary, Williston; and one sister, Adeline Rundhaug, Salem, Ore. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Gwyneth Bohnenblust
Gwyneth C. Bohnenblust, 73, Rapid City, S.D., formerly of Bismarck, died Sept. 11, 1998, at her home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, Pattonsburg, Mo. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Pattonsburg.

She is survived by one son, Jack, Rapid City. (Roberson Funeral Home, Pattonsburg)

Gladys Kuntz
DICKINSON -- Gladys R. Kuntz, 64, Dickinson, died Sept. 13, 1998, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Arrangements are pending with Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Nancy Rowley
Nancy E. Rowley, 46, Bismarck, wife of the Rev. David Rowley, died Sept. 14, 1998, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Sioux Falls, S.D. Arrangements are pending with Bismarck Funeral Home.

Arthur Horning
STANTON -- Arthur Horning, 85, Stanton, died Sept. 14, 1998, in the Hazen hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Stanton. Further arrangements are pending with Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.

Pat Price
HALLIDAY -- Pat Price, 64, Halliday, died Sept. 13, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Leo Erickson
WILLISTON -- Leo Erickson, 87, Williston, died Sept. 13, 1998, at his home. Arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Arthur Horning
STANTON -- Arthur W. Horning, 85, Stanton, died Sept. 14, 1998, in the Hazen hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Friday, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Stanton, with the Rev. Jay Spoonheim officiating. Burial will be in Stanton City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. MDT Thursday, and 9-11 a.m. MDT Friday, both at Seibel Funeral Home Chapel, Hazen.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Larry Klindworth, Adolf Leupp, Clarence Tweet, Ervin Navratil, Henry Miller and Emil Link.

Art was born on Dec. 15, 1912, to John and Fredricka Link-Horning at Krem. He was raised and educated six miles north of Stanton at a rural school. On Sept. 22, 1933, Art was united in marriage to Ida Horning. Later, Art and his father owned a sawmill in the Manhaven area, where they worked together until the land was sold to the government to build the Garrison Dam. After selling the sawmill, Art started trucking and hauling cream for the local people in Mercer County. He then, went into partnership with his brother-in-law, Bill Mutzenberger, and purchased a local business in Stanton. Eight years later, Art bought Bill's interest of the business and named it "Art and Ida's Bar." Art and Ida retired in 1975.

Along with his family, Art loved fishing, the outdoors, gardening and also shoveling snow.

He is survived by his wife, Ida; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Scarlett Horning, Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Dennie Sailer, Pick City; four sisters; one brother; one son-in-law, Carl Brezden, Omaha, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, LaVerne Rabe and Arlene Brezden, one son-in-law, Norman Rabe, and three brothers and three sisters. (Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen)

Albert Smith
Albert Smith, 81, formerly of 201 First Ave. N.W., Mandan, died Sept. 15, 1998, in a Mandan nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Huff, with the Rev. Dennis Schafer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation begins today from 1-9 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. A parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. tonight, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Albert was born Sept. 3, 1917, in Huff. He was the son of the late George and Teresa (Brigl) Smith. Albert was raised and educated in Huff. He farmed in the Huff area until 1985 when he retired and moved to Mandan.

Albert had a great love for horses and country music. As a young man, he broke horses. Albert was mechanical and artistic, he enjoyed making miniature farm implement pieces.

He is survived by eight sisters, Frona Schmidt, Minnie Ellison, Lillian Bethke, Beatrice Berger and Florence Graner, all of Mandan; Helen Betterley, Aberdeen, Wash., Luella Kary, Minot, and Leona Devine, Mankato, Minn.; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Kathleen Rowan, Mandan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Theresa Schwartzbauer and Alice Helbling; and one brother, Henry. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)

Glen Yellow Bird
Glen Yellow Bird, 52, Shawnee, Okla., and formerly of White Shield, died Sept. 12, 1998, at his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Ralph Wells Memorial Complex, White Shield. Burial will be in Old Scout Cemetery, White Shield.
