SELZ -- Pauline Ziegler, 80, Selz, died Nov. 4, 1998, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Selz. Further arrangements are pending with Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.
Loretta LaPlante
Loretta LaPlante, 81, Whitehorse, S.D., died Nov. 4, 1998, in a Rapid City hospital. Arrangements are pending with Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge.
Victor Nelson
Victor Nelson, 91, St. Vincent's Nursing Home, Bismarck, died Nov. 5, 1998, in the care center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Tom Dunham officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. Friday, Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Karl Victor Nelson was born in Stopafors (Varmland) Sweden on Dec. 31, 1906. Victor came to the United States on a boat on July 5, 1922 to settle in the community of his father, August Magnuson, in Wilton where he lived until the time of his marriage to Mabel Elizabeth Landerholm on April 7, 1928. They lived at the John Engdahl ranch near Baldwin until the fall of 1930. They moved to the Thysell Place. In the fall of 1933 they moved to Apple Creek and Cromwell Township.
In 1939 they moved to the old Ward place or the Freman Place. In 1941 they moved to Croft Township and farmed there until 1948. Moving into Bismarck in the fall of 1948, they lived on the 300 block on 19th Street. Victor started working for the Sears and Roebuck Company in June, 1949 and continued to work there for twenty-two years as Shipping and Receiving Clerk until the time of his retirement in July, 1972.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel; one son, Grant E. and Pat Nelson, Bismarck; one daughter, Anna Mae Nelson, Woodbury, Minn.; two grandchildren, Vickie and Tim Schilling and Tim Nelson, all of Bismarck; two great-grandchildren, Jessi and Casey Schilling, Bismarck; two brothers, Carl Roy and Glenn; and three sisters, Mabel, Ruth and Ada. Donald Russell
RIVERDALE -- Donald Vern Russell, 70, Riverdale, and formerly of Minot, died Nov. 3, 1998, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church, Minot. Burial will be in

Donald was born April 14, 1928, in Minot, a son of Fred and Flossie (Maitland) Russell. He attended school in Minot, and served in the U.S. Navy. He married Mary Schumacher on Aug. 5, 1960 in Minot. He was employed as an engineer with Burlington Northern Railroad from 1947 until his retirement in 1994. Following his retirement, he and Mary moved to Riverdale.
He enjoyed camping and boating, and spent many happy days on the lake.
He was a member of Riverdale Community Church, and a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Minot, and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Blair Meier, Hazen, and Deanne and Charles Walker, Winter Park, Colo.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Jennifer Russell, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Jim and LeeAnn Bouchard Russell, Minot; his grandchildren, Brad, Aimee and Katie Meier, and Mercedes Russell; his mother, Flossie Russell, Minot; his brother and sister-in-law, Blain and Sigrid Russell, St. Petersburg; one cousin, Beverly Flake, White Bear Lake, Minn.; and four nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred.

Clarence Wagner
GLEN ULLIN -- Clarence Wagner, 77, Glen Ullin, died Nov. 3, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST today, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with the Revs. Lawrence Wagner and Claude Seeberger officiating. Burial will be in St. Clements Cemetery, Haymarsh.
Visitation is ongoing until the time of service.
Clarence was born on March 28, 1921, to Anton and Frances (Kastner) Wagner. He was raised and educated in the Haymarsh area of rural Glen Ullin. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp near Brainerd, Minn., and later at Thermopolis, Wyo. He returned to the area and helped on the family farm until 1948 when he began working for Hebron Brick Co. He retired in January of 1983 and continued to reside in Glen Ullin.
Clarence enjoyed playing cards whenever he could. He is a former member of the union at Hebron Brick Co.
He is survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law, Evangeline Wagner, Glen Ullin, and Hilaria and George Wambold, Lacey, Wash.; and one sister-in-law, Eleanor Wagner, Glen Ullin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Alvin. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin)

George Magnuson, 81, died recently in Kent, Wash. George was employed at Fleck Motors in Bismarck before moving to Kent in 1965.
George is survived by his wife; two sons and two daughters, who live in Kent; one brother, Helmer, Bismarck; and two sisters, Ida, Baldwin, and Myrtle, Minnesota.
