Robert Zutt, 82, Port Angeles, Wash., and formerly of Stanton, died Nov. 29, 1997, in Port Angeles. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Harper Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles. Burial will be in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, Port Angeles.

Mel Stebbins
UNDERWOOD -- Mel Stebbins, 63, Underwood, died Dec. 1, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Underwood, with the Rev. Thomas Puffe officiating. Burial will be in Underwood Cemetery.
Mel Maynard Stebbins was born May 5, 1934, in Underwood, to Reginald C. and Ruth (Bearman) Stebbins. He was a life long resident of Underwood where he received his schooling and then worked at various jobs in the Underwood area until 1962, when he began working for the North Dakota State Highway Department -- Underwood Branch as an equipment operator. A job he held until the time of his death.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Stebbins, Minot; one brother, Milton, Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tanya Stebbins, Coleharbor; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Shirley and Neal Repnow, Farmington, Minn., Lori and Jay Frothinger, Burlington, Faye Ann Stebbins and Melanie Stebbins, both of Minot, and Merri Stebbins, Champlin, Minn.; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandson.

Trent Haadem
TAPPEN -- Trent Lee Haadem, 29, Tappen, died Dec. 1, 1997, in rural Tappen. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tappen. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery.
Trent Lee Haadem was born May 31, 1968, in Bismarck, the son of Tilman and Judy (Charlesworth) Haadem. He grew up and attended school in Tappen, and graduated from Tappen High School in 1986. He married Lisa Rall on Dec. 29, 1991, in Jamestown. They moved to Colorado and Nebraska and returned to Tappen in 1994, where he farmed with his father.
He enjoyed hunting, riding horses and being with his family and friends. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tappen.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; two sons, Just and Kip, Tappen; his parents, Tilman and Judith, Tappen; one sister and brother-in-law, Corrina and Jeff Pfaff, Bismarck; a newphew, Matthew Pfaff, Bismarck; his grandmothers, Gladys Haadem, Tappen, and Eva Charlesworth, Bismarck; his mother and father-in-law, Gary and Myrna Rall, Jamestown; one sister-in-law, Lori Kanwischer, Nevada; and three nieces, Jennifer, Kari and Cameron Kanwischer, Nevada; many aunts, uncles, cousins and one special dear friend, Doug Schmidt, Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Roy Haadem and Fay Charlesworth.

Peter Kuntz
DEVILS LAKE -- Peter Kuntz, 90, Devils Lake, died Dec. 2, 1997, in the Devils Lake nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Devils Lake, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by four daughters, Janet Mertens, Bismarck, Evelyn Olson, Devils Lake, Mary Dahlen, Oakes, and Theresa Kuntz, Inkon, Idaho; four sons, Raymond and Jacob, both of Devils Lake, Mike, Jackson, Minn., and Wendlyn, Grand Forks; and one brother, Mike, Temple City, Calif. Martha Hoffer
Martha Hoffer, 86, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, died Dec. 2, 1997, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Revs. Richard Hagestuen and James Stenslie officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at Streeter Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Martha Betsch was born on Nov. 30, 1911, in rural Stutsman County the daughter of Gottlob and Katherine (Steib) Betsch. She was raised near Streeter, and attended Streeter schools. She married Theodore "Ted" W. Hoffer on June 28, 1934, in Streeter. They lived in Streeter and Portland, Ore., where Martha worked at a supper club. They then returned to Streeter where they owned and operated Hoffer Mercantile, and other various family businesses until 1957. They then moved to Fargo, where Martha worked at Herbst Department Store for 20 years until her retirement. They moved to Mandan in 1979, to be near family. Ted died in 1991. Martha moved to Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in 1995.
She has been very active in her church through the years, and was very involved with her quilting circle. Her interests included cooking, sewing and gardening. She enjoyed people and was affectionately known as "Mom" to many. Martha and Ted dearly loved their grandchildren and actively enjoyed spending time with them.
The Hoffer family extends their heartfelt appreciation for all the care given to Martha during her stay at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Glen and Nancy Hoffer, Bismarck, and William and Avonne Hoffer, California; three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Fargo, and Julie and James, both of Bismarck; and three sisters, Virginia Seher, San Mateo, Calif.; Ella LaBranche, Seattle, Wash.; and Lorena Nelson, Hot Springs, Va. Dan McDonald
Daniel J. McDonald II, 64, Bismarck, died very suddenly Dec. 2, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Dakota Memorial Chapel, Bismarck, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday.
Dan was born May 22, 1933, in Bismarck, the son of Daniel and Anna (Robidou) McDonald. He was raised and educated in Bismarck, and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1951. He attended Bismarck Junior College and helped his father farm south of Bismarck. He worked for the state ag department as a dairy inspector, and also for Northern Improvement. On May 14, 1966, he married Leona Job at St. Mary's Church in Bismarck. They lived in Bismarck until September 1966, when they moved to the Seattle area. Dan worked for Boeing Aircraft Co. there. They returned to Bismarck in 1968, following his mother's death. He returned to farming and working for Northern Improvement. Dan and Leona ran the Skelly Oil Bulk plant in Bismarck from 1971-1979. He began working at the Bismarck Tribune in 1979, where he was currently employed as a driver. In 1996, he began working for the State in the facility management department.
Dan loved being outdoors, airplanes, old cars and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Leona; one daughter, Ronda McDonald, Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel J. McDonald III and his wife, Tina, Lincoln; three grandchildren, Daniel McDonald IV, Sawyer Ben and Holly Marie; two sisters, Rhea McDonald and Betty Leuwer, both of Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Catherine Lawyer and Mary Ann Brown; one brother, James.
Lester Bauer
BEULAH -- Lester M. Bauer, 69, Beulah, died Nov. 30, 1997, in a Reno, Nev., hospital after a lengthy illness. Services will be 10-30 a.m. MST today at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah. Burial will follow in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
He is survived by his wife, Della; one daughter, Connie Raszler of Reno; two sons, Brooks of Twenty Nine Palms, Calif., and Morris of Beulah; seven sisters, Marion Sandau of Poplar, Mont., Lyla Claywood of Cameron, Texas, Lora Weidrich of Billings, Mont., Loretta Baszler, Betty Hausauer and Stella Gramm, all of Beulah and Linda McDonald of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and two brothers, Clyde of Poplar and Dennis of Beulah. Gerald Lein
DRISCOLL -- Gerald N. "Jerry" Lein, 50, Driscoll, died Dec. 2, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, 11 miles north of Driscoll, with the Rev. Jo Olson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Jerry was born March 9, 1947, in Bismarck, to V.A. and Bertha (Schneider) Lein. He grew up and attended school in Driscoll. He served two years in the U.S. Army. He worked as an iron worker on many projects throughout the country.
He had a special interest in Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He also was fond of pets of all kinds and especially dogs and cats. He had a host of friends from all over the country.
He is survived by one son, Brad, and a granddaughter, Kylee, both of Seattle; his parents, V.A. and Bertha Lein of Driscoll; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Donny Hagel of Bowman and Thelma and Dennis Whitman of Driscoll; two brothers, Clinton of Everett, Wash., and Ralph E. of Bismarck; one niece; three nephews; one great niece; and special friends, Chad and Chassey.
