Beatrice Jacobson
Beatrice A. Jacobson, 86, Escanaba, Mich., died Nov. 19, 1998. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Beatrice was born Feb. 16, 1912, in Escanaba, the daughter of Nels and Hilma (Engberg) Ahlquist. She was a school teacher in Escanaba and then moved to Bismarck where she served as secretary of the Elks Lodge for many years and was an accountant for the Public Welfare Department. In 1970 she returned to Escanaba. She was married to Severt A. "Jake" Jacobson and he preceded her in death in March of 1963.

She was a member of the Eastern Star in Bismarck, and a former member of First Lutheran Church in Bismarck.

Survivors include many friends including two special friends, Karen Nordahl, Silverspring, Md., and Penny Climer, Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Herbert Ahlquist; and one sister, Ruth Schram. (Anderson Funeral Home, Escanaba)

Emil Wentz
STREETER -- Emil Wentz, 90, Streeter, died Nov. 21, 1998, in a Napoleon care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hope United Methodist Church, Streeter. Burial will be in Streeter Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; one son, Cory Wentz, Kokomo, Ind.; one daughter, Joy Lunzman, Williston; four brothers and four sisters, Martha George, Bismarck, Marie Gunsch, Dickinson, Clarence Wentz, Smelterville, Ind.; Ione Schwartwalter, Fargo, Edmond Wentz, Sun City, Ariz., Leroy Wentz, Lemmon, S.D., Raymond Wentz, Streeter, and Loetta Figert, Bismarck. Ruth Fetzer
GARRISON -- Ruth R. Fetzer, 66, Garrison, died Nov. 22, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital after a long battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Church of Christ, Garrison. Burial will be in Garrison City Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Ruben; two sons, Kenneth, Bismarck, and Jerry, Garrison; one daughter, Nancy Schmidkunz, Mandan; three sisters, Phyllis Sayler, Garrison, Irene Sayler, West Fargo, and Lois Whitely, Rockford, Ill.; and two brothers, John and Lyle Hintz, both of Garrison. Erling Hendrickson
Erling O. Hendrickson, 80, Bismarck, died Nov. 20, 1998, in a Mandan nursing home after several strokes. Graveside services will be held later next spring at Vang Lutheran Cemetery, rural Dunn Center.

He is survived by two sons, Gordon and Norman Hendrickson, Oregon; one sister, Amy Person, Minnetonka, Minn.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends. (Dakota Memorial Chapel, Bismarck)

Jens Tveito
NEW ROCKFORD -- Jens Tveito, 75, New Rockford, died Nov. 21, 1998, in the New Rockford nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grandfield Lutheran Church, rural Sheyenne. Burial will be in Grandfield Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sheyenne.

He is survived by two sisters, Thelma Lindstrom, Sheyenne, and Ida Tedrow, New Rockford; and two brothers, Gerhard, Mandan, and Ervin, Sacramento, Calif. (Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford)

Anice Lysaght
KILLDEER -- Anice Lysaght, 77, Killdeer, died Nov. 21, 1998, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MST Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Killdeer. Burial will be in Grassy Butte Cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, Lawrence, Burnsville, Minn., and Terrill, Pataskala, Ohio; and two daughters, Jacque Allan, Merican, Conn., and Rebecca Lysaght, Rapid City, S.D. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Bernard Fitzgerald
Bernard L. Fitzgerald, 64, 1310 N. Second St., Bismarck, died Nov. 23, 1998, at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. A rosary will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Further arrangements are pending.

Harold Sloven
Harold Sloven, 80, Walnut Creek, Calif., formerly of Bismarck, died Nov. 9, 1998, in Walnut Creek.

He is survived by his wife, Hermine; one son, Larry, Orinda, Calif.; one daughter, Linda Sloven, San Francisco, Calif.; one brother, Sid, Sun City West, Ariz., and two sisters, Charlotte Kamins, Mesa, Ariz., and Sybil Wezelman, Bismarck.

Katherine Zuther
HARVEY -- Katherine Zuther, 78, Harvey, formerly of Martin, died Nov. 22, 1998, in a Harvey nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey. Further arrangements are pending with Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Olga Aanderud
MADDOCK -- Olga Aanderud, 96, Maddock, died Nov. 22, 1998, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Viking Lutheran Church, rural Maddock. Further arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Home, Maddock.

Bernard Fitzgerald
Bernard Fitzgerald, 64, Bismarck, died Nov. 23, 1998, at his home. Services will be held at 10-30 a.m. Friday at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Zastoupil officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a rosary will be held at 7 tonight. A rosary will also be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

Bernard L. Fitzgerald was born march 14, 1934, at Wilton, the son of Harvey and Gertrude (Nelson) Fitzgerald. He graduated from Regan High School in 1952, and attended Valley City Teacher's College from 1952-1954. He taught in rural Regan schools for three years. He served in the Army from 1958-1960. In 1960 he began working for the North Dakota Department of Transportation, retiring in August of 1991, and 31 years. On May 22, 1965, he married Evangeline Keller at Bismarck.

He is survived by his wife, Evangeline; three sons, Daryl, Darren and Darvin, all of Bismarck; one daughter, Denise, Fargo; his father, Harvey, Bismarck; one granddaughter, Madison Jo; one sister and brother-in-law, John and Valdine Schneider, Denver; and special friends, Eldora and Leonard Lundberg, Wilton, and Tracie Frederick, Bismarck.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Nelson Fitzgerald.

Steve Goldade
BEULAH -- Steve Goldade, 77, Silverton, Idaho, formerly of Beulah, died Oct. 29, 1998, of injuries from an accident at his home. Memorial services were held Nov. 4 at St. Rita's Catholic Church, Kellogg, Idaho.

Steve was born Aug. 13, 1921, in Oliver County, the son of Joseph and Susan (Hipfner) Goldade.

He married Anna Hauck, Oct. 2, 1944, in Beulah.

He is survived by his wife, Anna; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Wanda, Helena, Mont., Brian and Lori, Chubbuck, Idaho, and Tim and Cindy, Woodland Park, Idaho; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Florence Keogh, Billings, Mont., Ida Teske, Beulah, Pauline Pischel, Mandan, Clem Kottenbrock, Bismarck, Marion Teske, Renton, Wash., Ann Grosz, Hazen, Helen Kuntz, Auburndale, Wis., Marlene Hoffmann, Great Falls, Mont.; and one brother, Jake, Schofield, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Steven.

Marie Brinkman
WISHEK -- Marie Brinkman, 75, Wishek, died Nov. 22, 1998, in the Wishek hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Leo; three sons, Stanley, Bath, S.D., Randall, Red Wing, Minn., and Russell, Bismarck; five daughters, Sharon Thilmony, Ashland, Mo., Patricia Morlock, Watertown, S.D., Susan Johnson, Burnsville, Minn., Sinthia Menholt, Felton, Minn., and Katherine Gill, Glyndon, Minn.; four sisters, Leona Kiemele, Bismarck, Bertha Sikel, Billings, Mont., Martha Roe, Auburn, Wash., and Annetta Heer, Kent, Wash.; and two brothers, Robert Serr, Bismarck, and Henry Serr Jr., Hazelton. Katherine Zuther
HARVEY -- Katherine Zuther, 78, Harvey, died Nov. 22, 1998, in the Harvey nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Harvey, with burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Anamoose.

She is survived by three sons, Donald and James, both of Martin, and Allen, Anamoose; one daughter, Kathleen Zuther, Randolph, N.J.; and one sister, Theresa Zuther, Harvey. (Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)

Olea Newborg
Olea Newborg, 94, Twin Valley, Minn., died Nov. 23, 1998, in a Twin Valley nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ada, Minn. Burial will be in Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, Minn.

She is survived by her sons, Russ Miller, Halstad, Minn., and Jerry Newborg, Bismarck.

Christian Job
Christian Job, 83, Bismarck, died Nov. 23, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Jamestown. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.

He is survived by his children, Earl Job, Lake Stevens, Wash., Betty Seitz, Rapid City, S.D., Joann Ham, Wahpeton, and John Job, Bismarck; five sisters, Emma Job, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Lydia Mahoney, Spanaway, Wash., Esther Christianson, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Helen Ebel, Bismarck, and Gladyce Bowler, Hayden Lake, Idaho. Hilda Stern
HALLIDAY -- Hilda I. Stern, 71, Halliday, died Nov. 24, 1998, in the Richardton hospital, after having suffered a lengthy illness. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Saturday, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Halliday, with the Rev. Timothy Swenson officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Halliday.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:30 a.m. MST, until service time at the church.

Hilda Irene Sailer was born June 1, 1927, in Dodge, N.D., the daughter of Jacob and Lydia Sailer. She was raised and educated in the rural Dodge area. She married Edwin Stern and they farmed in the Halliday area for many years, until he passed away in 1972. She then moved into Halliday.

Hilda loved to sew, and work in her yard and garden.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Wayne and Sandra Stuhlmiller, Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sandy Stern, Halliday; one sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Art Miller, Sheridan, Wyo.; one brother, Harold Sailer, Mandan; six grandchildren, Nicole Kary, Bismarck, Kimberly Stuhlmiller, Bismarck, Corey Stern, Halliday, Blaine Stuhlmiller, Bismarck, Brian Stuhlmiller, Bismarck, and Dena Stern, Halliday; one great-granddaughter, Mikayla Kary, Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Norman Sailer; one sister, Edna Stern; and her good friend, Herb McAdoo. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Clara Geiger
Clara E. Geiger, 68, 903 Third Ave. N.W., Mandan, died Nov. 24, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Church of St. Joseph, Mandan, with the Rev. Robert E. Feeney officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. Friday, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue until the time of service Saturday, at the funeral home.

Clara was born May 27, 1930, in Mandan, the daughter of Earl and Irene (Carlson) Schauss. She was raised and educated in Mandan and attended Mandan High School. On Nov. 26, 1947, she married Chris P. Geiger in Mandan. They had lived in Belfield from 1980 to 1990.

Clara did day care in her home. She was a Girl Scout leader and camp director for the Girl Scouts for 12 years. She also taught CCD at St. Joseph and had volunteered many hours at the church.

She is survived by her husband, Chris P., Mandan; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Bonnie and Ken Petryszyn, Wanda Guenthner, Kimberly Kahl and Michele and John Ehlis, all of Mandan, and Colette and Rodney Barth, Glendive, Mont.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Adelaide Ciavarella, Mandan, Carol Swindling, Yacolt, Wash., and Janice Backer, Keizer, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Scott; one brother, Ken Schauss; and two sisters, Arlene Pulkrabek and Dorothy Zander.

Gustov Helm
Gustov "Gust" Helm, 84, Mandan, died Nov. 23, 1998, in the Mandan nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Verle Reinicke officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan. There will be no visitation at the church.

Gustov Helm was born Feb. 21, 1914, in Morton County, the son of Ludwig and Christina (Fischer) Helm. He married Bertha Schelling, Jan. 3, 1938, in Hazen. Gust worked for Dakota Colliers doing strip and underground mining in Zap and Haynes. He then went to Gascoyne where he was self-employed as a coal miner. He also built bridges and did road construction. He sold his mining operation in Gascoyne in 1951 to Knife River Coal and moved to Mandan in 1955, where he owned Helm Brothers Inc. An intelligent, inventive and industrious man, Gust placed primary importance on his family's welfare, the kinship of close friends and his work.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gene G. and Nola, Las Vegas, Lesly D., Mandan, and Charles "Chuck" and Cheryl, Mandan; one daughter, Arlene Helm, Grand Forks; five grandchildren, Sharen Helm, Michael Helm, Marla Belohlavek, Marrianne Helm and Christina Helm; and three brothers, Emanual, Bismarck, and Jack and August, both of Beulah.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Maggie Paulver, Agnes Mathias and one who died in infancy; and two brothers, John and Fred.
