DICKINSON -- Arnold C. Johnson, 75, Missoula, Mont, formerly of Dickinson, died Nov. 8, 1998, in a Missoula hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Christian Life Center Church, Missoula, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Missoula.

Larry Kuhn
Larry Kuhn, 67, Lacey, Wash., and formerly of Mandan and Hebron, died Nov. 10, 1998, in his home.
Larry was born Oct. 22, 1931, in Mandan, the son of Paul and Gertrude (Braun) Kuhn. Larry grew up and went to school in the Mandan and Fort Yates area. He also attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton. Larry was also a member of the Army Reserve and enjoyed playing in the Army Reserve Band. On Aug. 2, 1952, he married Mary Smith of Bismarck. They moved to Hebron in 1960. Together they had four children, Mike, Mary, Daun and Shelly. Larry worked for Northwest Beverage as a salesman for approximately 20 years. He also served as a volunteer band director at Hebron High School in 1970, when the school had trouble finding a music instructor.
Larry had a passion for music and entertainment. For over 40 years he loved to play the accordian. While in Hebron, he played in an "old-time" band for dances and for sheer entertainment with such friends as Orien Feil and Glenn Uhdell. Friends, family and fellow musicians will never forget the many "jam sessions" he enjoyed doing over the years. Larry also liked hunting and fishing with family and his Hebron buddies, and during the 1970s took pride in building and maintaining a cozy little cabin at Lake Tschida.
In 1984, Larry moved to Lacey, Wash. He married Norma Jean Boyle, and together they managed Stow-A-Way Mini Storage. During his lifetime, Larry was a member of the Lions Club, the Elks, Moose and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean; his mother, Gertrude, Mandan; two sisters, Joyce Potter, Mandan, and Kathy Klette, Cutbank, Mont.; one sister-in-law, Virginia Kuhn, Laramie, Wyo.; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jane, Mandan; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Ken Fischer, Embden, Daun and Rick Russell, Reno, Nev., and Shelly and Dan Self, Ninilchik, Alaska; and grandchildren, Chris and Sarah Kuhn, Dusty Fischer, Tana (Gregerson) Fischer, Miranda Russell, Robert and Ashley Self; and great-granddaughter, Victoria Gregerson.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Paul; and his brother, Ronald.
Rev. Joseph Adkins
MINOT -- The Rev. Joseph H. Adkins, 76, Minot, formerly of Kenmare, died Nov. 10, 1998, in the Kenmare hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, with burial in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Kenmare, at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, and will continue after 6 p.m. Friday at the church. A prayer service and rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Father Adkins was born June 22, 1922, in Breckenridge, Minn., a son of George and Ella Marie (Okane) Adkins. They moved to Minot in 1936, and he attended and graduated from St. Leo's High School. He received his theological training at St. John's University, Collegeville, Minn., and St. Paul Seminary, St. Paul, Minn. He was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Bismarck on May 27, 1947, at the Church of St. Leo, Minot, by the Most Rev. Vincent J. Ryan.
Father Adkins' first assignment in the Diocese of Bismarck was assistant pastor at the Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, from 1947-1953. He then became administrator at the Church of St. Michael, Sentinel Butte, where he remained until 1955. He then was pastor at the Church of St. Boniface, Grenora, from 1955-1958, and pastor at the Church of St. Thomas, Tioga, from 1958-1960. Father Adkins was superintendent of Trinity High School, Dickinson, from 1961 to 1971. On Sept. 1, 1970, he was named administrator at the Church of St. Philip. Hirschville, and served there until April 1, 1971, when he became pastor at the Church of St. Agnes, Kenmare, and St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Donnybrook. He remained there until July 1, 1987, when he retired.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John and LaDonna, Richville, Minn.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Rose and Tom Donahue, and Ella Oakley, all of San Diego; his nieces and nephews, Jim Donahue, Tom Donahue, Nancy Miller, Dennis Adkins, Dick Adkins, Marcia Adkins, Joan Quinn and David Adkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ella Marie Adkins; his stepmother, Florence Adkins; one brother, George Jr.; and one sister, Sister Ignatius.
LeRoy Clooten
LeRoy E. Clooten, 66, 4750 84th Ave. N.E., died Nov. 10, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital of heart failure. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas Kramer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today, and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
LeRoy was born Sept. 8, 1932, in Bismarck, the son of Walter and Lucille (Small) Clooten. He married Ann Hammling on Oct. 28, 1967. He was a farmer/rancher for 49 years. He retired in the spring of 1998. He served on the board of directors for the local Bismarck Farmers Union from 1979 to 1995.
His passion for life centered around his family, especially his four grandchildren. He also enjoyed helping others at any time. He loved all sports, being outdoors and playing pool for hours with his son and son-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; one daughter and son-in-law, Colette and Joe Sabot, and their two children, Wyatt, age 5, and Morgan, age 2; one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Tracey, and their two children, Megan, age 7, and Dylin, age 11 months, all of Bismarck; one sister and brother-in-law, Marliss and Edward Peterson, Braddock; one sister, Margaret Yineman, Bloomington, Minn.; and many special friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lucille Clooten.
God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be,
So he put His arms around him and whispered, "Come with me."
In tears we watched him suffer and saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly we could not make him stay
"A heart of gold stopped beating"
"Hard working hands now rest"
God broke our hearts to prove to us.
He only takes the best.
Greg Eiseman
Greg Eiseman, 35, Bismarck, died Nov. 10, 1998, in his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, with the Revs. Erik Saxvik and G.G. Neuberger officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Greagory Allen Eiseman was born July 11, 1963, in Ellendale, the son of Elmer Eiseman and Ida Eiseman, both of Bismarck. Greg graduated from Wishek High School in 1981. He was a member of the Army National Guard. After graduation he went to work with Mortenson Construction Co. for several years. Greg lived in many different states throughout the United States. In 1995, he moved to Bismarck, where he resided until the time of his death.
He loved to hunt, liked sports, and had a passion for race car driving. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Greg is survived by his mother, Ida Eiseman; his father, Elmer Eiseman; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Darcy and Gerald Ruff, Lehr, Kim and Jayson Deyle, and Deb, all of Bismarck; two nephews, Alex Deyle and Chad Ruff; three nieces, Samantha Deyle, Abby Ruff and Meghan Eiseman; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jacob and Amelia Eiseman, and John and Emma Hildenbrand; and several aunts and uncles.
Dorthea Stroh
WING -- Dorthea Lorene Stroh, 81, Wing, died Nov. 10, 1998, in her home of cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Wing, with the Revs. Ernest T. Schafer and Muriel Lippert Schauer officiating. Burial will be in Wing Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home, and will continue at the church one hour before services.
Dorthea was born Dec. 3, 1916, at Wilton, the daughter of John and Minnie (Carlson) Skei. She was raised and educated in the Wing area. Dorthea was a member of Richfield Homemakers for 47 years, she also belonged to the John's Lake MB Ladies Society for many years.
She loved to sew, knit and crochet, making many beautiful quilts and afghans. Dorthea attended many craft sales and she enjoyed writing poetry, working crossword puzzles and playing scrabble with her friends. She also loved to be outside working in her flower and strawberry gardens.
On Oct. 16, 1937, she married Ted Stroh at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck. They farmed in the Wing area all of their lives.
Dorthea is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ted; one daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Arlie Krein, Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Della, Wing; three grandchildren, Lori Knoll and her husband, Gary, Washburn, Tamara Krein, Bismarck, and Lynette Baumiller and her husband, Mark, Bismarck.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Willard; one son, Marlan; and one grandson, Lance.

Fern Carufel, 84, Bismarck, died Nov. 11, 1998, in her home. Arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.
Sister Mary Wagner
Sister Mary Rita Wagner, OSU, 91, Belleville, Ill., born Nov. 8, 1906, in Strasburg, died Nov. 5, 1998, at the Ursuline Motherhouse in Belleville.
Sister Mary Rita entered the Ursuline Order Sept. 18, 1925, in Kenmare, where she professed her first vows Oct. 6, 1931. Her primary ministry was teaching elementary and secondary schools in Illinois and North Dakota. In Illinois she spent 10 years at Holy Rosary, Fairmont City, and six years in Holy Childhood, Mascoutah. In North Dakota she was 11 years in Kenmare, four years in Bismarck St. Mary's, and 28 years at Bishop Ryan in Minot. She also was dean of borders, Sodality Moderator, and Sacristan at some of the six places that she ministered. She retired from Minot in 1986.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Henn and Regina Kramer, both of Strasburg; and many nieces, nephews, her Ursuline Sisters, and friends from all the places in which she ministered.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Natalia (Brickner) Wagner; two brothers, John and Magnus; and six sisters, Emilia Nagel, Emma Riehl, Katie Braun, Sister Eva Wagner, OSB, Rosina Fisher and Florence Wagner.
Services were held Nov. 9 at the Ursuline Motherhouse Chapel, with burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery. (George Renner and Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.)
