Calen Zoller
GLEN ULLIN -- Calen Zoller, 21, Bismarck, and formerly of Glen Ullin, died Nov. 7, 1998, in rural Glen Ullin, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Wednesday at Glen Ullin School Gymnasium, with the Rev. Harry Theiss officiating. Burial will be in Glen Ullin Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. MST today at Glen Ullin School Gymnasium. A prayer service will be held at 7 MST tonight at the gymnasium.
Calen Zoller was born on May 19, 1977, in Ames, Iowa, the son of Perry and Mary (Hovey) Zoller. Calen moved with his family to Glen Ullin in June of 1980. He was raised and educated at Glen Ullin and graduated from high school in 1996. He played basketball while in school.
Calen's son was the most important thing in his life. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed being with them. He was currently working for Caspar's East 40 in Bismarck. Calen enjoyed the outdoors with sports like hunting, fishing and golf. Calen and David Fitterer were brothers.
He is survived by one son, Tretyn James Kienzle-Zoller, Bismarck; his fiancee, Camika Kienzle, Bismarck; his father, Perry Zoller, New Salem; his mother, Mary Fitterer, Glen Ullin, and stepfather, Mark Fitterer, Glen Ullin; one sister and brother-in-law, Honalee and Jason Lincoln, Bay City, Wis.; one nephew, Deltyn; his grandparents, Arnold and Arlene Zoller, Linton, and Barbara Hovey, Austin, Minn.; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

David Fitterer
GLEN ULLIN -- David Fitterer, 11, Glen Ullin, died Nov. 7, 1998, in rural Glen Ullin as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. David Fitterer was born on March 23, 1987, to Mark and Mary (Hovey) Fitterer. David was raised in Glen Ullin and was attending sixth grade at Glen Ullin Public School. He was involved in basketball, baseball, golf and loved playing the drums in band. He also enjoyed outdoor activities, his favorites being hunting and fishing. David and Calen Zoller were brothers.
He is survived by his parents, Mary Fitterer, Glen Ullin, and Mark Fitterer, Glen Ullin; one sister and brother-in-law, Honalee and Jason Lincoln, Bay City, Wis.; two nephews, Deltyn and Tretyn; his grandparents, Art and Delores Fitterer, Glen Ullin, and Barbara Hovey, Austin, Minn.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Emma Oster
Emma Oster, 98, Baptist Home, Bismarck, died Nov. 8, 1998, at the home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Public visitation will begin today at noon.
Emma was born on Oct. 20, 1900 at Delmont, S.D., the daughter of Gottlieb and Magdelana (Holtzwardt) Teske. She was raised in the Delmont area until 1916 when the family moved to a farm six miles southwest of Zap. Emma married Chris Oster on June 7, 1920, and they made their home in Bismarck, where Emma worked for the Patterson Hotel for a number of years.
She is survived by nieces and nephews and their spouses, Bernard and Mae Teske, Hazen, Ervin and Judy Wittenberg, Newton, Iowa, Gertie Granfill, Cedar Hill, Texas, Gordon and Virginia Coleman, Pacific Grove, Calif., Shirley McCormick, Evergreen, Colo., Alvin Ackerman, McLaughlin, S.D., Hulda and John Indergaard, Bismarck, and Sylvia and Kent Ochel, Round Rock, Texas.
In addition to her husband, Christ, who died in 1977, she was preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters and two nephews. (Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck)
Frank Wetch
Frank J. Wetch, 78, Mandan, died Nov. 7, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Private family funeral services will be held. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan, at 10:45 a.m., Thursday, with full military rites provided by Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts.
Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Wednesday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan.
Frank J. Wetch was born on June 1, 1920, at Mandan, the son of Phillip and Amelia (Knoll) Wetch. He served from 1942 until 1946 with the U.S. Army during World War II and married Rosemary Zimmer on July 15, 1944 in Fayetteville, N.C. He retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1989.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Larry Schumacher, Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Mona; five grandchildren; and one very special great-grandson. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan)
Charles Parizek
Charles "Chet" F. Parizek, 85, Bismarck, died Nov. 9, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bismarck Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eric Saxvik officiating.
Charles F. Parizek was born May 29, 1913, in Chelsea, Iowa, the son of Frank and Barbara (Dragoun) Parizek. Chet was raised on a farm northwest of Minot in Eureka township. He farmed and owned a construction company in Minot and lived in the Minot and Deering areas until the mid 1970s, when he moved to Bismarck.
Chet was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He also was a charter member of the Moose and Eagles in Minot.
Chet is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and John Stachina, Oneonta, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Mark Stachina, Otego, N.Y., Robert Stachina, Albany, N.Y., Diane Jacobsen and husband, Timothy, Sherburne, N.Y., and Kathryn Stachina, Albany; three great-grandchildren, Jason, Amanda and Melissa Jacobsen; one brother and sister-in-law, George and Verona, Minot; his sisters-in-law, Gertrude Parizek, Minot, and Marie Parizek, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews and someone who was very special and dear to him, Opal Tschider.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet; his parents; one grandson, David; one sister, Mary Anderson; and five brothers, Joseph, Frank Jr., Emil, Martin and John.

Marlene Meidinger

Ralph L. Heck, 87, 300 Second St. N.E., Mandan, died Nov. 9, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Mark Sobolik
Mark James Sobolik, 47, Mandan, died Nov. 6, 1998, in Grand Forks. Services will be 1-30 p.m. Thursday at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park, Grand Forks.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. The family will be present from 5-7 tonight to greet visitors. A parish vigil will begin at 7 tonight. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home, and one hour before services at the church.
Mark James Sobolik was born Oct. 9, 1951, in Grafton, the son of Terry and Mildred (Pribula) Sobolik. Mark was raised and educated in Grand Forks, graduating from Red River High School in 1970. He married Barbara Lundby on April 30, 1971, in Grand Forks. Mark was a self-employed salesman in Bismarck and a past member of the National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; four sons, Jason, Garrison, Jamie, Maple Grove, Minn., Joe, Grand Forks, and Jene, Mandan; his mother, Mildred Sobolik, Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Craig Sobolik, Bismarck; his father-in-law, Roy Lundby, Grand Forks; nine brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law, Roy Lundby, Grand Forks, Larry Lundby, Wayne Lundby, Patrick and Tomi Lundby, Jerry and Laurie Lundby, and Kristi and Gerald Ness, all of Grand Forks, Michael Lundby, East Grand Forks, Minn., Sharon and Alex Scott, Norcross, Ga., Linda and Tom Suitt, Roxboro, N.C., and Katy and Brian Gerstner, Hillsboro.

Ralph Heck
Ralph L. Heck, 87, 300 Second St., N.E., Mandan, died Nov. 9, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Robert Feeney officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Catholic Daughters rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Thursday. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30.
Ralph L. Heck was born June 14, 1911, in Oliver County, the son of George and Elizabeth (Wirtz) Heck. He was raised and educated in Oliver County. Ralph married Frances Morrell, Sept. 8, 1936, at St. Anthony.
They farmed in the Oliver County area, moving to rural Mandan in 1948, where they continued to farm until 1955 when Ralph began doing finish work as a carpenter. In 1974, Ralph retired and moved into Mandan. Frances died Sept. 27, 1982. Ralph married Cecelia (Froelick) Gerding, Jan. 25, 1984, in Mandan.
He was a member of Mandan Elks, Eagles and Knights of Columbus.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Cecelia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Jeanette Heck, Mandan, and Melvin and Jane Heck, North Port, N.Y.; one daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Dean Sharp, Bismarck; and four stepchildren; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances; two brothers, Fred and Matt; and one sister, Eva.
Olive Sigmund
TURTLE LAKE -- Olive E. Sigmund, 85, Turtle Lake, died Nov. 9, 1998, in the Underwood nursing home. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake, with the Rev. Norman Paskowsky officiating. Burial will be in Turtle Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Friday at Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake, and will continue at the church one hour before services.
Olive Elsie Sigmund was born Sept. 11, 1913, in Parkston, S.D., to Edward and Rosina (Schuler) Sigmund. When she was eight years old she moved with her parents to rural Turtle Lake, where she attended rural school.
She married Ernest Sondrol in 1931. They lived in Chicago from 1936-1944, and then moved back to North Dakota. She lived in Turtle Lake and later in Bismarck, where she was employed as a cook at the Bismarck Baptist Home. She became a resident of Prairieview Nursing Home at Underwood, Feb. 14, 1996. Olive enjoyed cooking and watching television.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Allan and Marge, and Kenneth and Marlyn, all of Turtle Lake; one daughter and son-in-law, Deloris and Ray Glover, Knoxville, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Amelia Yusba, Mt. Home, Ariz.; one brother, Raymond Birst, Bismarck; one stepsister, Eva James, Turtle Lake; and one stepbrother, Adam Birst, Turtle Lake.
Oscar Mettler
Oscar Mettler, 74, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, died Nov. 7, 1998, in the nursing home. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Boelter Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Stenslie officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Oscar was born July 11, 1924, in Beulah, the son of Ferdinand and Maria (Reede) Mettler. He was educated in the Beulah area. He served with the Sea Bees in the South Pacific during World War II.
Oscar married Lois McDonald on Oct. 15, 1949, in Glendive, Mont. They lived in Bismarck where he worked for the caterpillar dealerships and Haas International as a mechanic for a number of years. He then went to work at the Super Valu warehouse as a truck mechanic, retiring in 1990.
Oscar enjoyed hunting and fishing, and the time he spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; one daughter, Carol Mettler, Breckinridge, Minn.; three sons, Robert and Thomas, both of Bismarck, and William, Breckinridge; two sisters, Ella Fiek, La Grange, Ore., and Else Stimson, Grand Rapids, Mich.; and one brother, Helmuth, Dickinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
