Max Deichert
Max J. Deichert, 81, 210 Third St. N.E., Mandan, died July 22, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital of cancer. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with burial in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Military rites will be by Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30.
Max was born Sept. 1, 1915, in Raleigh, the son of Martin and Emma (Kuntz) Deichert. Max was raised and educated in the Raleigh area. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945. He married Magdalena Koch, June 28, 1948, in Raleigh. Max and Magdalena farmed for many years in that area before they retired and moved to Mandan in 1991.
He was a member of American Legion for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Magdalena; six sons and two daughters-in-law, Blase and Terri, Bernard and Ted, all of Dickinson, Mike and Jolene, Wilton, and Charlie and Gene, both of Bismarck; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Hultberg, Hilda and Terry Fredrich, Donna Deichert, and Helen Deichert and her fiance, Dennis Baumgartner, all of Bismarck, and Delores and Patrick Messer, Mandan; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Kathryn, John and Laura, and Harry and Mary, all of Bismarck, Peter and Mary, Flasher, and Ben and Pauline, Fargo; and one sister, Margaret Hartman, Carson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Mary and Mary; and one brother, Martin.

Emma Treiber
RICHARDTON -- Emma Mary Dorothia Treiber, 83, Richardton, died July 22, 1997, in Richardton. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at St. John United Church of Christ, Hebron, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A prayer service will begin at 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Emma was born Oct. 19, 1913, at Richardton, to William and Emma (Nolte) Alpert. She was raised and educated near Richardton. She helped out on the farm and worked for the neighbors and her family until her marriage. On Dec. 1, 1931, she married Henry Treiber in Richardton. They farmed north of Hebron. Emma enjoyed time spent with family and visiting with her friends. She enjoyed the farm life, gardening, cooking, baking and embroidering. They retired in 1970 and moved into Hebron where she resided until moving to Dickinson in 1990. Henry died May 29, 1983. In January 1997 she moved to the Richardton Health Care Center.
She was a member of St. John's Women's Guild.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Louis, Dickinson, Duane and LaDonna, Hebron, and Armin and Lorraine, Richardton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene and Richard Magstadt, Dickinson, and Emma Lou and Curtis Lavine, Independence, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Charles and William, both of Richardton; and one sister, Shirley Bowman, Garden City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son; one grandson; two sisters; and two brothers.
Eugene Jacobs
TURTLE LAKE -- Eugene Jacobs, 64, Turtle Lake, died July 23, 1997, in the Turtle Lake hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Turtle, Lake, with burial in Turtle Lake Cemetery. Military rites will be by Turtle Lake American Legion.
Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the church, where a rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Eugene was born Oct. 20, 1932, near Dodge, to Barny and Anna (Knapp) Jacobs. He was raised and educated at Werner. He served in the U.S. Navy stationed at Pearl Harbor from October 1950 to October 1953. After his discharge he worked heavy construction and was superintendent for the Lindteigen Construction Co. of Turtle Lake for the past 26 years.
He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Turtle Lake, Turtle Lake American Legion Post and Bismarck Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Myrna, New Town, Darrell and Cindy, Halliday, and Lonnie and Lesley, Minot; three daughters and one son-in-law, Marilyn Jacobs and Sharon Jacobs, both of Halliday, and Tammy and Kevin Grady, New Town; one stepson, Kenneth Olson, Underwood; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Shae, Kylee and Brayton Zimmerman; one sister, Marie Mueller, Ocean Shores, Wash.; two sisters-in-law, May Jacobs, Underwood, and Ruby Jacobs, Spokane, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

Daniel Laintz
SELFRIDGE -- Daniel Laintz, 75, rural Selfridge, died July 22, 1997, in his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Saturday at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Selfridge, with the Revs. Casimir Paluck and Leonard Savelkoul officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the church, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30.
Dan was born July 9, 1922, in Sioux County, the son of Max and Benigina (Gross) Laintz. Dan was raised and educated in Sioux County. He married Rose Kraft, Oct. 17, 1944, at St. Philomena Church, Selfridge. They farmed and ranched in the Selfridge area. Throughout the years Dan was active in his community. He was a member of the KC Club, achieving the rank of fourth degree and also served as Grand Knight. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Mobridge, S.D. He was a member of the Selfridge School Board, chairman of the ASCS County Committee for more than 25 years, he helped organize Selfridge Rural Fire District, was chairman of the Sioux County Farmers Union Oil Company and a member of the Selfridge Sportsman Club.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dan Jr. and Pat, Denver, Will and Roberta, Mandan, and Jerome and Jayne, Selfridge; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen and Donald Hauck, McLaughlin, S.D., Geneva Green, Arvada, Colo., Vera Laintz, Westminster, Colo., and Laurie and Matthew Walker, Gillette, Wyo.; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Katie and Jake Jochim, Mobridge, and Eva Kelsch, Selfridge.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison, and will continue after 4 p.m. Sunday at the church. A vigil and prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. Visitation also will be at the church one hour before services.
ArDella Meisch was born Oct. 11, 1933, in Streeter, the daughter of Andrew and Leah (Schauer) Meisch. She attended school in Garrison. On Nov. 28, 1950, she married Norbert Schlichting in Garrison. They owned the Dairy Queen in Garrison from 1970 to March 1997.
She is survived by her husband, Norbert; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Alan Huettl, Garrison, and Jodie and Tom Bjornholt, Garrison; four grandchildren, Robert Huettl, Nicole Bjornholt, Brandee Bjornholt and Ashley Bjornholt; her mother, Leah Meisch, Garrison; and two sisters, Betty Affeldt, Steele, and Dorothy Fix, Max.
She was preceded in death by her father; one daughter, Terriene; one sister, Marvel; and one brother, Dale.

Magdalyn Trondson
Magdalyn Mary Trondson, 72, Seattle, died May 26, 1997, in Seattle. A memorial service was held May 30 at Acacia Funeral Home, Seattle.
Magdalyn was born Jan. 28, 1925, at Mandan. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1942. She married Arnold Trondson in 1943.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold; two sons, Keith and John; one daughter, Nadine Trondson Popp; three sisters, Caroline Hoffman, Rose Marshal and Clemintine Sterna; and two grandchildren, Justin and Logan.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bryce.
