Lillie Coffey
NEW TOWN -- Lillie S. Coffey, 93, New Town, died July 17,1997, in the Watford City nursing home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at New Town Congregational Church, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, rural New Town.

BULLHEAD, S.D. -- Leroy J. Archambault, 65, Bullhead, died July 17, 1997, in the Mobridge care center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rock Creek Day School Gym, Bullhead. Further arrangements are pending at Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge.
Robert Johnson
Robert "Bob" Johnson, 68, Bismarck, died July 18, 1997, in his Bismarck home after a long illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Wilton, with the Rev. Mary-Lee Lint officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites by Bismarck Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn, and will continue at the church one hour before services.
Robert was born April 5, 1929, near Wilton, to Henry and Ellen (Peterson) Johnson. He grew up on his parents' farm southwest of Wilton in Painted Woods Township, where he attended rural school. As a young man he worked for area farmers and also on the construction of the Garrison Dam. He served in the U.S. Army from May 1954 to April 1956 and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge he returned to Wilton and worked on highway construction as a heavy equipment operator in North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana. He married Jean Brown, Dec. 7, 1957, at Washburn. They lived in Wilton and later lived and farmed five miles west of Wilton. Bob retired in 1984 after suffering a stroke. Bob and Jean moved to Bismarck in 1984, where he was a member of the Bismarck VFW Post. He enjoyed playing pinochle, attending rodeos and visiting with friends. His family was always very special to him.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Dennis Cleveland, Wilton, and Deb and Jay Werre, Beulah; one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Candy, Bismarck; eight grandchildren, Courtney and Shariah Johnson, Chris, Josh and Lacey Cleveland, and Amanda, Tiffany and Karlee Werre; and one sister, Marie Hancock, Seattle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
Angela Graner
HUFF -- Angela Graner, 63, Huff, died July 17, 1997, in her home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Church of St. Joseph, Mandan, with the Rev. Leonard Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Angela was born May 7, 1934, in Mandan, the daughter of Ted and Esther (Bethke) Rask. She was raised and educated in Mandan, graduating in 1952 from Mandan High School. On Nov. 4, 1953, she married Leland Graner in Huff. They farmed in the Huff area until the time of her death.
Angela was one who enjoyed the companionship of other people and loved to visit with them. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and crocheting. She loved to listen to old-time country music. Above all, the caring for her family and grandchildren was first, and she always treasued every detail of their lives. Angela took great pride in her family.
She was a member of St. Anne's Altar Society.
She is survived and forever lovingly remembered by her husband, Leland; one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Becky, Huff; four daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and Ron Bell, Louaine and Greg Wetch, Rosemary and LeRoy Helbling, all of Mandan, and Virginia and Mike Mehlhoff, Garrison; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her mother, Esther Rask, Elgin; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ann and Don Brunmeier, Stanton, and Jeanette Veitz, Elgin; and three very special friends, Helen Miller, Kay Nygaard and Judy Keller, all of Mandan.
She was preceded in death by her father.
After many years of her struggle with her health, she is now walking with her Maker and free of pain.
Herietta Hintz
Henrietta A. "Hattie" Hintz, 94, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, died July 17, 1997, in the nursing home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Robert Lynne and Lloyd Gunderson officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyslope Cemetery, Mott, at 3 p.m. Monday.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service and will continue at the church one hour before services.
Henrietta A. Rekow was born July 10, 1903, in Alexandria, S.D., the daughter of Albert and Katherine (Loeffler) Rekow. She was raised and educated in Elgin. She married Otto Hintz, June 26, 1927, in New Leipzig. They lived in Mott, where they owned the Blue Moon Ice Cream Parlor and Cafe. After her family was grown, she worked for Mott Drug Store. They moved to Bismarck in 1962. After Otto's retirement, they worked for Gold Seal Co. in Medora for 10 seasons until 1979. Henrietta had been a resident at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center since July 11, 1991.
She was active in Homemakers Club and church activities.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Lloyd Gunderson, Northfield, Minn., and Sherrill and Dan Schorsch, Jamestown; one daughter-in-law, June Hintz, Mandan; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty Zeller, Stockton, Calif., Lonnie Zeller, Elgin, Ruth Zimmel, Mahnomen, Minn., and Frieda and Clair Washburn, Plainwell, Mich.; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Marion Rekow, Elk Grove, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; one son, Curtis, in 1993; three brothers and two sisters.
Gwynne Doll
Gwynne Gay Rhoads Doll, 55, died July 17, 1997, in her home of cancer. Services will be held at 2 p.m Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas R. Marcis Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.
Gwynne was born Oct. 4, 1941, in McClusky to Arden Rhoads and Charlotte Johnson. She graduated from McClusky High School in 1959 and moved to Bismarck shortly after. She married Larry Doll, Oct. 28, 1961. She worked for the tate of North Dakota until she became a full-time mother. She also worked for the Bismarck Civic Center. She baby-sat for many years and especially loved caring for her grandchildren. She was an active member of Zion Chancel Circle for many years and enjoyed reading and cross-stitching.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michele and Milton Kemmit, Oakdale, Minn., and Melissa and James Castillo, Harrisburg, Pa.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Morgan and Donna, Maple Grove, Minn., and Joshua and Lindsay, Bismarck; her mother and step-father, Charlotte and Daniel Pfaff, Bismarck; one sister, Carol Perrault, New Orleans, La.; two brothers, Gordon Rhoads and Robert Rhoads, both of Bismarck; five grandchildren, Andrew, Russell and Joe Kemmit, Ashley Doll and Jesse Castillo.
Alvin Bauer
Alvin Bauer, 87, Bismarck Baptist Home, formerly of 1217 N. 13th St., died July 17, 1997, in the nursing home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bismarck Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wes Gerber officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Alvin was born Oct. 8, 1909, in McClusky, the son of Emmanuel and Eva (Opp) Bauer. He was raised and educated in Sheridan County. He farmed on the family farm in Sheridan County for many years. Alvin married Vivian Hoffman, Sept. 3, 1938, in McClusky. They lived in McClusky where he worked on the farm and for the Sheridan County Soil Conservation District. They moved to Bismarck in 1954, and Alvin worked for the school system for two years. In 1956 he began working as a corrections officer for North Dakota State Penitentiary until his retirement in 1972. Alvin entered the Baptist Home in January 1996.
Alvin loved gardening and flowers. He was a member of Bismarck Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Deacons, and held several other positions over a period of 43 years. He was also a member of the Peace Officers Association.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vivian; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dian and Dennis Dockter, Medina, and Sheila and Jerry Auch, Bismarck; four sisters; three brothers; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
The family prefers memorials to Bismarck Baptist Church or Bismarck Baptist Home.
Gladys Nelson
JAMESTOWN -- Gladys J. Nelson, 88, Jamestown, died June 1, 1997, in a Jamestown nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kintyre, with burial in Tell Cemetery, Kintyre.
