Phillip Haupt, 74, Mora, Minn., formerly of Werner, died April 8, 1999. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mora.
Arlene Beckman
Arlene Beckman, 62, Hannover, died July 14, 1997, in her home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of St. Martin, Center, with the Rev. Austin Vetter officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and one hour before services at the church, where a rosary will be said at 7 tonight.
Arlene Linden was born March 20, 1935, in Braddock, the daughter of Henry and Margaret Linden. The family moved to Driscoll where Arlene was raised and educated. She attended college in Fargo. After college she moved to Bismarck and worked in the secretary of state's office for more than 20 years. She married Burton Beckman, Sept. 26, 1975, in Bismarck. After their marriage, they moved to rural Hannover, where they farmed.
She is survived by her husband, Burton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Leland and Diane Ternes, Radcliff, Ky., and Henry Ternes, Fargo; two daughters, Debra Rothschiller, Mandan, and Denise Ternes, Fargo; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Rothschiller, Katherine Rothschiller and Chardonnay Ternes; one great-grandson, Alex; and one brother, Frank Linden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Dick and James Linden. (Eastgate Funeral Service)
Katherine Senger
Katherine Senger, 97, formerly of 1124 N. 16th St., died July 14, 1997, in a Strasburg nursing home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a vigil and rosary will be said at 8 tonight.
Katherine Jung was born Aug. 17, 1899, in Zeeland, the daughter of Phillip and Barbara (Hartzi) Jung. She was raised and educated south of Zeeland. She married Anton J. Senger, Nov. 19, 1923, in Zeeland. They farmed northeast of Hague until 1954, when they retired and moved to Bismarck. Anton died in 1986. Katherine had been a resident of Strasburg Nursing Home for five years.
she enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, quilting and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Leona Werlinger, Alice Schafer, and Irene and Al Wagner, all of Bismarck, and Barbara and Jack Glatt, LaPalma, Calif.; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Joe and Thekla, and Paul and Helen, all of Bismarck, Aloys Senger, Aberdeen, S.D., and Jerome and Ricki, Hague; 50 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul, Aberdeen; and two sisters, Willamina Ballus, Minneapolis, and Regina Hammer, Salem, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; seven brothers and four sisters.
Amelia Mattson
NEW SALEM -- Amelia Mattson, 50, New Salem, died July 14, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with burial in St. John's Cemetery, rural Mandan.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd.

ZAP -- Esther M. Reinhardt, 67, Zap, died July 12, 1997, in her home of natural causes. Services will be at 10 a.m. MDT Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Zap, with burial in the church cemetery.

HETTINGER -- Grace Luella Davidson, 74, Hettinger, died July 15, 1997, in the Hettinger hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. MDT Saturday at Hettinger Lutheran Church, with burial in Alden Cemetery, rural Regent.

Olga Schiermeister
Olga Schiermeister, 83, formerly of Bismarck, died July 12, 1997, in Sun City, Ariz. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Erik Saxvik officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Boelter Funeral Home.
Olga was born April 26, 1914, in Garrison, the daughter of David and Maria (Hein) Flath. She was educated in the Garrison school system. She married Arthur Schiermeister, Nov. 16, 1933, at Garrison. Together, they farmed in the Hazelton area until moving to Linton in 1977. They moved to Bismarck in 1988. Arthur died July 2, 1995.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the church circle and quilters group. She was a member of Emmons County Homemakers, was an Emmons County 4-H leader, Linton Senior Citizens, Linton Lutheran Church Choir and Circle and Bismarck Senior Citizens.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerold and Marlys, Mingo, Iowa; one daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Don Nicolay, Sun City West, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Emanual and Lorraine, Garrison, and David and Alvina, Pacific City, Ore.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.
Jane Mundy
Jane Mundy, 76, 208 E. Bowen Ave., died July 15, 1997, in the Mandan nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas Richter officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck, where a vigil will begin at 7 tonight.
Jane was born March 19, 1921, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Arthur and Dora (Dahl) Mundy. She was raised and educated in Bismarck. She worked at A.W. Lucas for many years. She enjoyed traveling, particularly to Hawaii. She was very interested in ham radio, on which she made many friends. She loved art, painting and writing. She will be missed by her many friends and people who cared for her.
She is survived by three nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister.
Hertha Hunkler
NAPOLEON -- Hertha Hunkler, 82, Napoleon, died July 13, 1997, in her home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, with Bishop James Sullivan, the Rev. James Lauerman and local area priests and deacons officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jim Olig will serve as organist for the service. Pallbearers will be her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, where rosaries will be said at 2 and 7 tonight.
Hertha was born May 2, 1915, in Napoleon, the daughter of Dr. Gustav A. and Marie L. (Kuhlmann) Mathews. She grew up in Napoleon and attended Napoleon Public Schools, graduating from Napoleon High School in 1931. Hertha then attended North Dakota State University for one year and Concordia Teacher's College in Seward, Neb., for one year. Before her marriage, Hertha taught school for four years in Kroeber and Glendale school districts near Napoleon.
Hertha married Howard Hunkler, Nov. 27, 1941, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Devils Lake. They returned to establish their home on Howard's parents' farm 14 miles east of Napoleon, which they purchased in 1941, and began a farming and cattle operation.
Hertha was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and St. Philip Neri Christian Mothers. She served as treasurer for three years and as the church CCD youth teacher for a number of years. Hertha was a member of the Highland School District School Board for one term. Hertha was a devoted mother and grandmother who was known for her letter writing skills and keeping in contact with her family and friends. She loved to visit with her family and talk on the telephone. Hertha's hobbies included reading, gardening and tending to house plants and flowers. Since Howard's ordination in 1983, Hertha has assisted her husband in his ministry as Deacon throughout the area.
She is survived by her husband, Howard; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Madeline and Pius Gross, Phoenix, Angela Hunkler, Berkeley, Calif., Sister Marie Hunkler, Dickinson, and Cecelia and Rod Reetz, Bismarck; six sons and three daughters-in-law, Joseph and Doreen, Oroville, Calif., the Rev. Cyril, Plains, Mont., Francis, Moorhead, Minn., John and Kristi, Cape Coral, Fla., Bernard and Yvonne, Harvey, La., and the Rev. Jerome, New Rockford; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Adele Thiel, Billings, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters.
Emil Froemming
ELGIN -- Services for Emil Froemming, 83, Elgin, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Elgin, with the Rev. Wayne Rouse officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Special music will be provided by Martin and Gloria Vaaler. Serving as casketbearers will be Eugene Zimmerman, Edwin Fischer, Ron Fischer, Randy Fischer, Gene McDowall Jr., and Christopher Nolan. All friends and Elgin Lion Club members are considered honorary bearers.
Emil Froemming was born April 3, 1914, at New Ulm, Minn., to Albert and Bertha (Muske) Froemming. At the age of two, he moved with his parents to a farm eight miles south of Elgin. In the fall of 1917, they purchased a farm from Jacob Edinger three miles north of Elgin. Emil attended a local country school near his home and the finished the rest of his schooling in Elgin, graduating from Elgin High School in 1932. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp until returning to the family farm. Emil was united in marriage to Frances Krecklau, Sept. 5, 1943, at Elgin. They began their life together on his parents' homestead, where they farmed until 1966, when Emil took over management of the Elgin Community Credit Union.
Emil also has served on the Elgin School Board, Grant County ASCS Board and the church council. He was a bookkeeper for Farmer's Union Oil Co. and was the site manager for Elgin Senior Meals. He was a member of Germans From Russia and a dedicated Elgin Lion Club member for more than 25 years. He continued to live on the farm since his retirement. Frances died Aug. 5, 1986. He entered Dakota Hills in October 1996, and in January 1997 moved to Jacobson Memorial Care Center. He died there July 13, 1997, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 10 days.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Marlene, Mandan, and Dale and Janice, Elgin; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Olga, Mission Viejo, Calif.; two sisters, Hertha Schwisow, Minneapolis, Minn., and Elsie Rund, Hillsboro; and four grandchildren, Chad and Kristi Froemming, both of Mandan, and Patrick and Evony Froemming, both of Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers; four sisters; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Froemming; and one stepson, Glenn Fredrick.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Elgin, and will continue at the church one hour before services.
George `Bud' Hughes
George ``Bud" Hughes, formerly of McKenzie, died July 5, 1997, in Hayward, Calif. Burial was in San Joaquin Valley Cemetery, California.
He was born July 17, 1921, in Bismarck, to George and Gertrude (Gable) Hughes. He was raised and educated in McKenzie. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1940 and retired as a lieutenant commander in 1968 after 27 years. He married Mary LaVigne in Dallas, Texas, in 1944.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, James and Robert; one daughter, Mary Van Dyke; 10 grandchildren; and one brother, Russell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and two sons.
Victor Stanton
Victor Stanton, 78, Bismarck Baptist Home, died July 14, 1997, in the nursing home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Church of St. Katherine, Braddock, with the Rev. Jeff Zwack officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Bismarck Baptist Home, and will continue at the church one hour before services.
Victor was born April 11, 1919, in Braddock, the son of John and Emily (Keenan) Stanton. He was raised and educated in Braddock.
He is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and John Gassmann, Valley City; one sister-in-law, E. Genevieve Stanton, Portland, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews. (Dakota Memorial Chapel)
