WISHEK -- Peter Hagel, 84, Wishek, died Aug. 11, 1997, in the Wishek nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Wishek, with burial in Wishek Cemetery.

He is survived by two sons, LeRoy, Graham, Wash., and Harry, Los Angeles; four daughters, Wilma Meidinger, Zeeland, Sandra Schilling, Wishek, Linda Foerderer, Wadena, Minn., and Donna Haas, Morris, Minn.; two brothers, Emil and Edwin, both of Wishek; and two sisters, Ernestine Neuharth, Eureka, S.D., and Magdalena Kaseman, Wishek. Gilmore Ness
TOLNA -- Gilmore J. Ness, 74, Tolna, died Aug. 12, 1997, in the Grand Forks Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at American Lutheran Church, Tolna, with burial in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, at 2 p.m. Friday.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille; four sons, Micheal, Center, Joey, Bismarck, Larry, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Ronald, Bismarck; one sister, Donna Hanson, Hatton; four brothers, Orville, Northwood, Richard, Fargo, Dale, Dent, Mich., and James, Hatton. (Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille)

Elizabeth Seaton
WILLISTON -- Elizabeth Seaton, 90, Williston, died Aug. 11, 1997, in the Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Lutheran Home, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

She is survived by one son, LeRoy, Williston; two daughters, Marion Skaare, Williston, and Lucile Leen, Auburn, Wash. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Carrie Longenecker
Carrie C. Longenecker, 34, Largo, Fla., formerly of Bismarck, died Aug. 10, 1997, in Largo. She was called to be with God and the angels after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Church of the Ascension, with the Revs. Marvin Klemmer and Arnold Spain officiating. Burial will be in Hazelton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Carrie was born Aug. 21, 1962, the daughter of Evon Landsberger. She was raised and educated in various states, graduating from high school in 1979 in Honolulu. She was very artistic and mechanically inclined. She adored her dog, Freedom, and her cat, Felix. She always shared with others, especially through her employment in the services industry. Carrie's love for travel has now ended for she has reached her final destination with the angels chanting her favorite music and prayer. Her love and kindness will be dearly missed and remembered by her family and many friends.

Carrie is survived by her mother, Evon Landsberger; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Donna Longenecker, Robesonia, Pa.; her grandmother, Barbara Landsberger, Bismarck; special friend, Wayne Locke, Largo; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, and father.

Peter Novy
Peter A. Novy, 77, Mandan, died Aug. 10, 1997, in the Mandan hospital, one day after his 50th wedding anniversary. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, with military rites by Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 707.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at Boelter Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday.

Peter was born June 5, 1920 in Wing the son of James and Mary (Marek) Novy. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947 in Bonn, Germany. He was married to Donna Lou Suby, Aug. 9, 1947, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Wing, by the Rev. Elwood Cassidy. While in Wing he was employed at Patterson Ranch and ZX Ranch. Before his retirement he worked for Kist Livestock in Mandan.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Peter Jr., Hannover, N.H., and Richard and Barbara, West Carthage, N.Y.; one daughter, Susan Carman, Bismarck; his grandsons, Richard and his wife, Julie, Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., Robert, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Ryan, West Carthage; one great-granddaughter, Danielle Novy; and four sisters, Rose Ruhman and Anne Novy, both of Sacramento, Calif., Agnes Krone, St. Cloud, Minn., and Sister Elizabeth Novy, Bismarck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Edward, Anton, his twin brother, Paul, and two who died as infants; and one sister, Theresa Wohnoutka.

Merton Hailey
WASHBURN -- Merton Hailey, 70, Washburn, died Aug. 12, 1997, in the Mandan hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Washburn, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.

He is survived by four sons, Merton, Underwood, Ken, Albany, Ga., Everett, Washburn, and Tom, White Bear Lake, Minn.; three brothers, Lloyd, Willow Springs, Mo., Roger, Rockville, Md., and William, Aurora, Colo.; and five sisters, Grace Koski, Iron, Minn., Violet Thompson, Pequot Lakes, Minn., Etta Baker, Waseca, Minn., Edna Lund, Plymouth, Minn., and Margaret Grothe, Shelly, Minn. (Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn)

Claudia Holtan
UNDERWOOD -- Claudia C. Holtan, 57, Underwood, died Aug. 12, 1997, in her home of natural causes. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Augustana Lutheran Church, Underwood, with burial at Underwood Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Hubert; one son, Rob Willits, Underwood; one sister, Idella Schatz, Underwood; two brothers, Rich Schatz, Longview, Texas, and Berle Schatz, Vernal, Utah. (Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn)

Wally Daleszak
Wally Daleszak, 70, Mandan, died Aug. 11, 1997, in a Bismarck nursing home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with burial in Mandan Union Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Bachus will officiate.

The family prefers memorials to St. Vincent's Nursing Home.

Brenda Klein
ZEELAND -- Brenda Kay Klein, 40, Zeeland, died Aug. 12, 1997, in Grafton. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland. Further arrangements are pending at Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Peter Grad
HARVEY -- Peter Grad, 67, Harvey, died Aug. 13, 1997, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Selz. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Alvina Schick
MCCLUSKY -- Alvina Schick, 92, McClusky, died Aug. 13, 1997, in the Underwood nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at McClusky Baptist Church. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Bernard Krenzel
ELGIN -- Bernard Krenzel, 80, Elgin, died Aug. 12, 1997, in the Elgin hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Friday at Zoar Congregational Church, Mott, with burial in Sunnyslope Cemetery, Mott.

He is survived by his wife, Johanna; two sons, Christian, Bismarck, and Peter, Elgin; four daughters, Madgalene Feser, Bismarck, Gertrude Goenenour, Evans, Colo., Johanna Godes, Dickinson, and Bernadine Frey, Elgin. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Elgin)

Ralph Small
Ralph Eugene Small, 81, Laramie, Wyo., formerly of Bismarck, died Aug. 8. 1997, in Longmont, Colo. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. August 23 at McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

He is survived by two sons, Larry, Laramie, and Dean, Longmont; and one daughter, Linda Fahrer, Pullman, Wash. (Lewellen-Longmont Memorial Chapel, Longmont)

William Saetz
KILLDEER -- William Saetz, 76, Killdeer, died Aug. 9, 1997, in the Glendive, Mont., nursing home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at Killdeer Cemetery.

He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Degele, Denison, Texas; and three brothers, Albert, Stoughton, Mass., Anthony, Dickinson, and Louis, Bonnet Springs, Kan. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Linda Medalen
WILLISTON -- Services for Linda Tone Medalen, 44, Williston, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston, with the Rev. Raymond Aydt officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, Williston.

A prayer service will begin at 5 p.m. today at the church.

Linda Tone Medalen was a beloved wife, loving and caring daughter, adored godmother and a special and true friend. She died in a Bismarck hospital, Aug. 11, 1997, of an aneurysm.

Linda was born April 9, 1953, at Mercy Hospital in Williston, to Stanley and Charlotte (Nordby) Tone. She attended St. Joseph and Williston High Schools, graduating in 1971. After graduation, Linda attended Trinity School of Nursing in Minot, receiving her diploma as a registered nurse. Richard O. Medalen and Linda Tone were married June 14, 1975, in Williston. Rick and Linda resided in Williston, then Crosby, where Linda worked as a nurse at the Crosby Clinic. After returning to Williston, Linda worked with life insurance medical exams and was a home health nurse. She also taught courses at UND-Williston. Linda returned to school to earn a bachelor of science degree in nursing, graduating cum laude from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, in 1989. That same year, she joined the newly formed Mercy Mental Health Unit as a registered nurse and later became a certified psychiatric and mental health nurse. In December of 1995, Linda was appointed director of the mental health unit. She was a preceptor for the nursing program, served on the nurse advisory council, and on the quality improvement committee. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, an international society for nurses.

Linda is survived by her husband, Rick; her parents, Stanley and Charlotte Tone, Williston; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Sharon and Dennis Kvalheim, Bismarck, and Marlys and Howard Bartels, Overland Park, Kan.; three nephews; four nieces; and three godchildren, Jamie, Jenna and Jeffrey Skadeland.

There are many wonderful traits that made up Linda's life. She loved to collect bears, candles and special things for her house. Rick and Linda have been sweethearts and best friends since high school. Together they have enjoyed softball, canning, decorating their home and entertaining friends. She was devoted to her mother and father and was always grateful for the time they were able to share daily. She was also dedicated to her work at Mercy Mental Health Unit and to the colleagues she had the opportunity to work and share time with. For her many friends, she will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, humor, sincerity and kindness. Family and friends were always greeted with the "Love, laughter and friends are welcome here" sign at the door, after a visit, you knew that was from the heart.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. today at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

David Robinson
David G. Robinson, 66, Vandenberg Village, Calif., died at his home July 25, 1997. Memorial services were held July 30 at Lompoc Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Leong, U.S.A.F., officiating. Military honors were performed by members of the Vandenberg Air Force base.

David was born Dec. 20, 1930, to B.E. and Christina Robinson in Washburn. He attended schools in Washburn, graduating in 1948. He was an Eagle Scout and former scoutmaster. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a master's degree in aeronautical engineering. He was a major in the U.S. Air Force and served as a pilot for 22 years.

David was stationed in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, served in the Defense Intelligence Agency in the Pentagon, Washington, D.C., and in Vietnam. He moved to Lompoc, Calif. in 1970, eventually retiring there. He married Maxine Haas of Turtle Lake on June 20, 1954.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine; two sons, David, San Diego, Calif., and John, Atascadero, Calif.; one daughter, Julie, Lompoc; one brother, Lyle, Underwood; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold "Jack" and Robert "Bum;" and one sister, Ethel.

Howard Anderson
ENDERLIN -- Howard Anderson, 84, Enderlin, died Aug. 13, 1997, in a Valley City hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at First Lutheran Church, Enderlin. Burial will be in Enderlin Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Rodny; two daughters, Ruthann Zielsdorf, Beach, and Rosemary Johnson, Bismarck; and two sisters, Evelyn Baarstad, Enderlin, and Ruth Tysver, Spokane, Wash. (Armstrong Funeral Home, Enderlin)

Joseph Kanski
BELFIELD -- Joseph Kanski, 54, Belfield, died Aug. 13, 1997, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday, at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, north of Belfield. Further arrangements are pending with Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

John Thielen
DICKINSON -- John Thielen, 94, Dickinson, died Aug. 14, 1997, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dickinson.

He is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Krank, Taylor; one brother, Wendelin, Spokane, Wash.; and one sister, Catherine Slaybaugh, Richland, Wash. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Alvina Schick
MCCLUSKY -- Alvina Schick, 92, McClusky, died Aug. 13, 1997, in the Underwood nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at McClusky Baptist Church. Burial will be in McClusky City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Alvina was born March 16, 1905 in Odessa, Russia, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Huber. The family came to the United States in 1908, and they lived near Anamoose and in Saskatchewan, Canada. Alvina returned to the Anamoose area in 1925. She married John Schick Aug. 27, 1927 in McClusky. They lived in the McClusky area and later in Denhoff. They moved to Bismarck in 1956, and returned to McClusky in 1961. John died Feb. 9, 1968. Alvina entered the Sheridan Memorial Home in 1987, and moved into the Prairie View Nursing Home in Underwood in 1993.

She was a member of the McClusky Baptist Church and Women's Missionary Fellowship Group.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Jack Witt, Napa, Calif.; and two grandsons, Brian and his wife, Monica, and Scott, all of San Francisco, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Arnold in 1937; and one great-granddaughter, Juliet in 1996.
