John Lund
John P. Lund, 77, Bismarck, died May 5, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Bismarck Funeral Home, with Chaplain Burnie Kunz officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at Bismarck Funeral Home.
John was born and raised near Oakes, the son of William H. and Alma (Gemar) Lund. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, leaving from Oakes with the National Guard Troop Train. He married Lois Rasmussen, June 28, 1945, at Oakes. They lived there until 1953, at which time they moved to Aberdeen, S.D. John worked for Gates Tire Co. until beginning work for General Tire Co. He was transferred by General Tire Company to Bismarck in 1974. He continued to work for General Tire Co. until his retirement. After his retirement he continued to work part-time at Century Motors.
John had a lifelong interest in horses and in particular, Arabian horses. He was an active member of the local Arabian Horse Association. John enjoyed watching his grandchildren, Skyler and Sarah in their hockey, golf, softball and school activities. He diligently supported them with his presence at their events, as his many young friends would attest.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; one son, Jack, Naperville, Ill.; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Jack Marquart, Bismarck; his grandchildren, Skyler and Sarah; and one brother, Bill, Fargo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters.

HAZEN -- Amalie Kilber, 93, Hazen, died May 5, 1998, in the Beulah nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Saturday at English Lutheran Church, Hazen, with burial in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hazen.

Ada Myers
BEULAH -- Ada B. Myers, 91, Knife River Care Center, Beulah, formerly of Mandan, died May 4, 1998, in the nursing home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Stephen Eastin officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today at the church.
Ada was born Dec. 21, 1906, at Hensler. She was raised and educated in Oliver County. On Sept. 12, 1924, she married Howard Eugene Myers at Outlook, Mont. Eight children, consisting of three girls and five boys, were born to this union. Ada and Howard lived in the Sanger area until 1933, when they moved to a farm near Stanton. In 1946, they moved to Solen where they also farmed. In 1957 they moved to Mandan. Howard died Aug. 21, 1984. Ada became a resident of the Knife River Care Center, Beulah, on Dec. 4, 1997. Mrs. Myers was a seamstress for over 60 years, making many wedding gowns, patchwork quilts and other clothing. She also was a cafe cook and baker for 16 years.
She is survived by one sister, Hattie Grannis, Snohomish, Wash.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Betty Myers, Sebeka, Minn., Norman and Klara Myers, Renton, Wash., Marvin Myers, Wilton, and Mary Myers, Center; 26 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and 36 great-great-grandchildren.
Ada was preceded in death by her mother; three brothers; her husband of nearly 60 years, Howard; three daughters, Violet (an infant), Helen Borner and Alice Metcalf; two sons, Earl and Kenneth; and three grandsons, Steven Metcalf, Robert Myers and Earl Myers Jr. (Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah)
Harold Robinson
Harold Robinson, 83, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, died May 7, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10-30 a.m. Monday, at First Presbyterian Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Stephen Eastin officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, with full military rites provided by Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 707 and the American Legion Post No. 40.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a prayer service will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until service time at Weigel Funeral Home.
Harold was born on March 13, 1915 in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Lester C. and Myrtle (Hoyt) Robinson. He was raised and educated in Eau Claire, Wis., graduating there from Eau Claire High School. On March 15, 1941, he married Evelyn Ella Brown in Eau Claire. On Jan. 21, 1943, Harold entered the U.S. Army at Fort Sheridan, Ill., and served in the 35th Division during World War II. Harold fought in the Normandy/Bavarian invasion at St. Lo, France. He was captured in 1945 near Nancy, France and spent the rest of the war in POW camps in Germany and Poland. Harold was discharged from the service on Nov. 5, 1945.
Harold was employed as the superintendent of meats with Cloverdale Foods Co. for 27 years, from 1957-1983. His crowning achievement at Cloverdale was creating the Cloverdale Tangy Summer Sausage and also creating the boneless ham called the Mary Walker Ham, now known as the Tear Drop Ham. He cared for and enjoyed all his employees at Cloverdale.
Amongst his interests he enjoyed golfing, reading, playing cards, dancing and fishing. He also loved western movies.
He was a member of the American Legion, Elks and Kiwanis Club. Harold was a very active member in our community where he was a past chairman of the United Way Fund Drives and served on the Board of Directors and was active in the Little League Baseball. Over the years, he gave freely of his time in volunteer work where he served as a volunteer on the golf course, tutoring at the State Penitentiary and tax preparing for RSVP. He also did volunteer work for the Geological Society. Harold was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, sang for the church choir and was a past member of the Church Session.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Joyce, Bismarck; one daughter, Patricia Anne Robinson, San Diego/Bismarck; one granddaughter and her husband, Kree ReNay and Troy Nelson, Fargo; and one grandson, Cade Michael Robinson, Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, who died on April 6, 1985; his parents; and one sister, Marion James, Portland, Ore.
He touched many people's lives and he leaves an emptiness that only love and happy memories can fill.
The family prefers memorials to Mandan Junior Golf Association, North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, and/or the Mandan Public Library. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)
Helen Erickson
Helen Erickson, 86, 803 N. 29th St., Bismarck, died May 7, 1998, in a local hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, at Bismarck Evangelical Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Kerry Stastny officiating. Burial will be in Tappen Cemetery, Tappen.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today, 1-9 p.m. Sunday, and 9-11 a.m. Monday, all at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Helen Erickson was born March 15, 1912 on the family farm at Tappen, the daughter of Oscar E. and Ella (Berry) Erickson. She was raised and educated at Tappen. She attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis. Helen worked for Bismarck Hospital as an elevator operator for eight years and later as an elevator operator at the A.W. Lucas Department Store. She worked with her sister, Della, at the Bible and Book Store for over 25 years.
Helen loved music and sang at many weddings and funerals. She was very active in her church choir and her church.
She is survived by her sister, Della Erickson, Bismarck; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother in infancy.

Nicolas Kronberger
GLEN ULLIN -- Nicolas "Nick" Kronberger, 80, Glen Ullin and formerly of Minneapolis, died May 7, 1998, in Glen Ullin. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Monday, at St. Mary's Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Almont. Burial will be in Almont Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. MDT Sunday, and 9 a.m.-noon MDT Monday, both at Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. A Christian Mothers rosary will be said at 7 p.m. MDT Sunday at the funeral home.
Nicolas was born on Feb. 13, 1918, at Haymarsh to Michael and Barbara (Eichhoff) Kronberger. He was raised in rural Glen Ullin and attended country and Sacred Heart School. He entered the Civilian Conservation Corps and served at Grand Rapids, Minn. He was an assistant LDR Leader. He returned to the Glen Ullin area where he was engaged in cattle ranching and broke horses. He moved to Minneapolis and worked as a welder for Butler MFG. He married Theresa Ockwig on April 21, 1972 at St. Paul, Minn. In 1977, they moved to Oregon and he worked for R&R Cedar. In 1991, they moved back to Minneapolis. Due to declining health, he entered the Bryn Maw Healthcare Center a year and a half ago. On May 4, 1998, he entered the Marian Manor Healthcare Center in Glen Ullin to be closer to his family and his childhood home.
He was a member of the Bismarck Eagles for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa; two stepsons, David and Joseph Ockwig, both of Minneapolis; two stepdaughters, Cynthia Oxwig, Minneapolis, and Arlene Bentley, Onamia, Minn.; eight step-grandchildren; one brother, John, Almont; and five sisters, Anna Keller, Cottage Grove, Ore., Barbara Ormiston, Mandan, Ida Kronberger, Almont, Vivian Gullickson, Breien, and Rose Mary Kobilansky, Glen Ullin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Darwin Lee Kronberger, who died on Nov. 4, 1989; two sisters and four brothers. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin)
Curtis Shreve Jr.
Curtis M. Shreve Jr., 76, Kissimmee, Fla., died April 20, 1998. Services were held April 23, 1998, by the Free and Benevolent Order of the Masonic Order, and April 24, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Baptist Church, Kissimmee. Burial was in Bushnell National Cemetery.
Curtis was born on Nov. 5, 1921 to Curtis M. Sr. and Carrie (Sjblom) Shreve of Baker, Mont. After his education, in the Baker and Colorado Springs, Colo., area, Curtis attended Hanson's Auto School in Fargo. He later enlisted in the Merchant Marines, was accepted into their Officers' Candidate School, and was commissioned a Lt. J.G., during World War II. He met Kathleen Annis during R&R in New York City, and they were married on Jan. 17, 1945 in "The Little Church Around the Corner". They ranched on the family homestead until Curtis began working for M.D.U. He worked for M.D.U. in Montana, South Dakota, and North Dakota until his retirement in 1983.
He enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards and visiting with their friends. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen "Betty"; two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Karen, Mandan, and Larry and Bernice, Dickinson; one daughter, Sgt. Deborah Shreve, Newport News, Va.; two brothers, Francis, Des Moines, Iowa, and Marshall, Hartman, Colo.; one sister, Lucille Ragland, Colorado Springs; four grandchildren, Brian, Amy and Aaron, all of Mandan, and Michelle Keck, Dickinson; and three great-grandchildren.
