The Rev. Clinton Birst
The Rev. Clinton E. Birst, 52, Bismarck, died May 3, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital as a result of an apparent coronary.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Evangelical Free Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Terry Kern and Scott Sheets officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, rural Turtle Lake.
Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. today at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Ken Birst, Delton Hofer, Myron Grueneich, Larry Shaw, Roger Larson and Mike Wulbecker.
The soloist will be Doug Wonnenberg.
Clinton Emil Birst was born Aug. 27, 1945, at Turtle Lake, to Emil and Esther (Grueneich) Birst. He grew up on his parents farm northeast of Turtle Lake where he attended rural school. He graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1963. He attended Northwestern College at Minneapolis for two years and then transferred to the University of Minnesota at Duluth, where he graduated in 1967.
He married Judi Harrison on June 10, 1967, at Duluth. They made their home at Park City, Ill., while he attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill. He served as a pastor for 14 years, serving churches in Minnesota and North Dakota.
In 1983, he began working with the home schooling movement, serving first as president of the North Dakota Home School Association, and then as executive director of the North Dakota Family Alliance until 1997. He also served as a lobbyist for family issues. He recently was working as regional director of Interactive Videoconferencing (IVC), of Cleveland, Ohio.
Clinton enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Judi; two daughters, Lorissa Birst and LaDonna Birst, both of Bismarck; and two sons, Jason Birst and Jonathan Birst, both of Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Matthew Miller
DICKINSON -- Matthew John Miller, 38, Dickinson, died April 29, 1998, in a Dickinson hospital. Memorial services were held on May 4 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Dickinson. Burial will be in New York State on Friday.
He is survived by his parents, Roy and Virginia Miller, Gallatin, Tenn.; two sisters, Margaret, Orlando, Fla., and Barbara, Converse, Ind.; and three brothers, Martin, Spring Hill, Fla., Craig, Middleport N.Y., and Stephen, Hamlin, N.Y. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)
Meredith Horne
REYNOLDS -- Meredith Horne, 71, Pelican Lake, Minn., and formerly of Reynolds, died May 4, 1998, at her home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cormorant Lutheran Church, Cormorant, Minn. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Dr. Vernon Reardon
MINOT -- Dr. Vernon L. Reardon, 67, Minot, died April 22, 1998, at his home of natural causes. Services were held on April 27, 1998, at First Lutheran Church, Minot. Burial was in Medina cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; one daughter, Melissa Olson, Bismarck; three sons, Douglas, Fargo, Phillip, Denver, and Michael, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; one brother, Wayne, Medina; and one sister, Zola Williams, Cleveland. (Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot)
Barbara Wiest
HARVEY -- Barbara Wiest, 95, Harvey, died May 4, 1998, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

BEULAH -- Ada B. Myers, 91, Beulah, formerly of Mandan, died May 4, 1998, in the Beulah nursing home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. CDT Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Mandan.
Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. MDT Wednesday at Knife River Care Center, Beulah, and from 10 a.m. CDT until service time at the church on Wednesday. Further arrangements are pending with Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.
LaVerne Solberg
ANETA -- LaVerne D. Solberg, 74, rural Aneta, died April 30, 1998, in a Grand Forks hospital. Services were held on May 4, 1998, at New Luther Valley Lutheran Church, Aneta. Burial was in East Norway Church Cemetery, rural Aneta.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian; two daughters, Lyndell Morrissey, Bismarck, and Nadine Hunt, Woodridge, Ill.; and one son, Kevin, Aneta. (Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille)
Robert Tulp
HURDSFIELD -- Robert W. Tulp, 69, Houston and formerly of Hurdsfield, died April 30, 1998, in a Houston hospital. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hurdsfield.

James Skinner
James Skinner, 40, Seattle, Wash., and formerly of the Standing Rock Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota, died April 29, 1998, in Tukwila, Wash., due to natural causes. Emma Jean Reisenauer
Emma Jean (E.J.) Reisenauer, 64, Mandan, and Apache Junction, Ariz., died May 3, 1998, at her home in Apache Junction. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Thursday, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. A parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m., followed by a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening.
Emma Jean was born Dec. 9, 1933, in Bismarck to Joseph and Katherine (Hagel) Werner. She attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1951. On April 21, 1956, she married William Reisenauer and they began their 42 year journey together in Mandan. Their love brought them five wonderful children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. Her grandson, Brian, was the light of her life.
Emma worked for Norwest Finance, N.D. Unemployment Office, Speedy's Tire, Mandan, and Kist Livestock. She and Bill owned and operated "Travel Career Institute," a travel school in Bismarck, until their retirement. After retiring, they began spending their winter months in Arizona and returned to North Dakota in the summer.
She enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, crocheting, decorating and especially having her family and friends come to visit them.
Emma Jean is survived by her husband, Bill; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Keith and Donna, Fargo, Kevin, Minot, Kent, Tempe, Ariz., and Kyle and Carolyn, Mandan; and one daughter, Kelly, Encinitos, Calif.; one grandson, Brian, Fargo; three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Leonard and Bev Werner, Portland, Ore., Joe and Joan Werner, Minot, and Clarence "Curly" and Bev Werner, Valley City, and Ann Werner, Spokane, Wash.; and two sisters, Marie Stoller and Beverly Tonander, both of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gene; her mother and father-in-law; and two brothers-in-law, Ted Stoller and Tony Tonander. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)
Earl Claymore
FORT YATES -- Earl Claymore, 76, Fort Yates, died May 4, 1998, in the Fort Yates hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fort Yates, with the Rev. Casimir Paluck officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fort Yates.
Earl was born on Aug. 2, 1921 in Mahto, S.D. to Charles Claymore and Elizabeth Whitesell. He graduated from high school at Wakpala, S.D. in 1939. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served in World War II and continued service until 1948. He was a surveyor for the Road Department off and on and was a counselor in the Chemical Prevention Department for the Standing Rock Tribe until he retired in 1974. He married Evelyn Agard on Jan. 15, 1949, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fort Yates.
Earl enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he also enjoyed his time with his birds.
He was a member of the World War II Sub-Vets Club, the Albert Grass Legion Post No. 173, and the Standing Rock V.F.W.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gayleen and Terry Yellow Fat, Fort Yates, and Nadine and Neal Tepper, East Grand Forks, Minn.; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Lance, Blaine, and Wade and Cindy, all of Fort Yates; three sisters, Thelma Luger, Fort Yates, Lavina Maxon, Buffalo, S.D., and Merry Ketterling, Larimore; 25 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Evelyn; and one brother, Gernell. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)
Harold Ervin
Harold C. Ervin, 87, 1144 College Dr. No. 104, Bismarck, died May 4, 1998, at his home in hospice care. There will be a memorial service for the immediate family and friends at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at United Church of Christ, Bismarck, with the Rev. James Moos officiating.
Harold was born in Warren, Ind., on Aug. 19, 1910 to Clarence Ervin and Sarah Haines. He married Helen Alene Savieo on May 9, 1931. Harold practiced his trade as a linotype operator with newspapers in Indiana, Michigan, California, and briefly in Alaska. He was a longtime resident in Hemet, Calif., before they moved to Bismarck in 1994.
Harold's greatest joy was traveling to many places around the world.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sharon Ervin Johnson and Arnold, Bismarck, and Sara Kahrs, Tacoma, Wash.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon and Dorothy Ervin, Needles, Calif.; Steven Ervin and Alice Cover, Fresno, Calif.; six grandchildren, Kevin Johnson, Vallejo, Calif., Tamara Hamm, Minot, Heather Smith, Limestone, Tenn., Sandy Frye, Victorville, Calif., Scott Schafer, Manteca, Calif., and Sharon Ann Horsman, Fresno, Calif.; and eight great-grandchildren.

Matthew Wagner
JAMESTOWN -- Matthew William Anthony Wagner, the infant son of Valeri Glass and Jerry Wagner was born March 2, 1998, in a Jamestown hospital. For medical reasons, the baby was transferred to a Fargo hospital. Despite the efforts of the hospital and staff, Matthew died early in the evening on March 2, 1998. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Friday, at St. John Cemetery, Hebron, with the Rev. Thomas A. Zuhlke officiating.
Matthew is survived by his mother and father, Valeri Glass and Jerry Wagner, and his twin sister, Gabriella, all of Jamestown; and his grandparents, Vernon and Gerry Glass, Hebron, Bill Wagner, Wimbledon, and Evelyn Wagner, Fargo. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron)

Theodore Hardmeyer
Theodore S. Hardmeyer, 78, mayor of Mott from 1954-1978 and former member of the State Legislature, died of cancer May 5, 1998, at his retirement home in Longville, Minn. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mott. A memorial funeral mass will be held there at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Further arrangements are pending.

Elaine Kuntz
Elaine M. Kuntz, 55, 1026 S. Third St., died May 5, 1998, in her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Bismarck Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kendal Johnson officiating.
Elaine Marie Hanel was born Oct. 25, 1942, in Dickinson, to Laudie and Emma (Kadrmas) Hanel. She attended rural grade school near New Hradec and graduated from Model High School in Dickinson. She attended Dickinson State College. She was married to James Kuntz from 1964-1977. She worked for Dakota Credit Incorporated for 38 years, and at the time of her death had ascended to the position of president of the credit reporting division.
Elaine will be fondly remembered for her love for her family, for her love of animals, and for her many antique collections. In her younger years she was active in trap shooting in western North Dakota.
She is survived by one son, Patrick, and his fiance, Kela Caldwell, Bismarck; her parents, Dickinson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Kathy Hanel, Wilbur and Nancy Hanel, all of Dickinson; one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Rick Schwartz, Richardton; and her best friend, Patty Ebeltoft, Dickinson.
She was preceded in death by a brother who died at birth; and one sister, Elizabeth Kolling, Dickinson.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Central Dakota Humane Society.
