Katherine Judah
WILTON -- Katherine I. Judah, 82, Wilton, died Jan. 5, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Wilton, with the Rev. George Pruys officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, rural Wilton.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Thursday, at Goetz Funeral Home, and after 6:30 p.m. at the church. A vigil service will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday, at the church.
Katherine Irene Duma was born on Aug. 24, 1915, to John and Anna (Kanski) Duma, in rural Wilton, in Wilson Township, Burleigh County. She grew up on her parents farm and attended rural school. As a young girl, she helped on the family farm and also worked as a homemaker in the Wilton area. She married Gerald Edgar Judah on June 18, 1940, at Red Oak, Iowa, where they lived until moving to the Wilton area in 1949. He died on May 7, 1959. She worked as the head cook at the Wilton Public School for 17 years and later became a manager at the State Game Lodge, near Rapid City, S.D., for summer employment. In 1970, she became head cook for the Burleigh County Nutrition Program for Seniors in Bismarck. From 1972 to 1979, she operated the Wilton cafe. She also cooked for St. Alexius Medical Center, the Green Thumb Program and the Schacher Boarding Home in Wilton. Her most recent employment was with the Redwood Village Retirement Home, Wilton.
She was a lifetime member of the St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Wilton, and currently served as treasurer. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and had served as president of Catholic Ladies Aid for 12 years.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Eli and Priscilla Judah, Wilton; one daughter and son-in-law, June and Richard Werre, Bismarck; five grandchildren, Shelly and husband, Steve Schon, Grant Judah, Sarah Judah, Bobbie and husband Chris Robinson, and Kelly Werre; one great-granddaughter, Haley Robinson; one sister, Pearl Anderson, Wilton; and one sister-in-law, Rose Duma, Wilton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Margaret Duma; and one brother, Alex Duma.

William Wetzel
GLEN ULLIN -- William "Bill" Wetzel, 79, McMinnville, Ore., and formerly of Glen Ullin, died Jan. 4, 1998, in McMinnville. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Saturday, at Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin, with the Rev. Art Wetzel officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery, rural Glen Ullin.
Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. MST Friday, at Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin.
Bill was born on June 16, 1918, to Wilhelm and Johanna (Bender) Wetzel, in Glen Ullin. He was raised and educated in rural Glen Ullin. He entered the military where he served his country. Following his discharge, he settled in Detroit and later East Point, Mich. He married Mary Frescura on Jan. 9, 1946, at Bowling Green, Ohio. They moved to Sheridan, Ore. in 1978, and in 1995, moved to McMinnville. Most of his working life was spent in the military as a mechanical engineer.
In his retirement years, he enjoyed remodeling homes and working with his hands.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; one daughter, Juliana Elias, Novi, Mich.; three grandchildren; four brothers, Sam, Sheridan, Ore., Eddie, Yakima, Wash., Raymond, Hoquim, Wash., and Leo, Jackpot, Nev.; and five sisters, Elizabeth Peters, Hoquim, Martha Snyder, Yakima, Katie Pearson, Monikeno, Wash., Sophia Preszler, Bismarck, and Ruth Hunt, Sitka, Alaska.

Emma Dick
MCCLUSKY -- Emma Dick, 84, McClusky, died Jan. 6, 1998, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, McClusky, with the Rev. Alwin Reimnitz officiating. Burial will be in McClusky Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.
Emma was born Dec. 31, 1913, on the family farm near Mercer. She was the daughter of Jacob and Christina (Hofer) Bossert. She grew up and attended country school there. She married Reinhold Dick, Feb. 17, 1934, in McClusky. They farmed southeast of McClusky. He died May 22, 1964. She moved to McClusky in 1970, and in July 1996, moved to Bismarck Baptist Home.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women's Missionary Fellowship. She was a charter member of Farmerette Homemakers Club, McClusky, and McClusky Senior Citizens.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Delma and Richard Morey, Carmel, Ind., DeLaine and David Poppke, and Dorothy and Julius Vogel, all of Bismarck, and Diane and Dale Becker, Steamboat Springs, Colo.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Duane and Marge, Don, and David and MoDean, all of Bismarck; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Magdalena Frey and Helen Nichols, both of Bismarck, Lydia Wendland, Escalon, Calif., and Dinah and Francis Buchmiller, Vancouver, Wash.; and one brother and two sisters-in-law, Ed and Doris Bossert, Bismarck, and Elsie Bossert, Turtle Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Olga and Martha; and one brother, Emil.

George Unser
George M. Unser, 84, Bismarck, died Jan. 6, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at noon Friday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Charlie Heidt officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today, at Bismarck Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7 tonight. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
George M. Unser was born Sept. 20, 1913, in Bismarck, the son of Conrad and Magdalen (Richter) Unser. He was raised and educated in Bismarck. He attended St. Mary's Grade School.
On February 26, 1935, George married Anna Doll at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bismarck. George served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a life member of the Eagles' Golden Age Club and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. George worked in construction and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers.
He enjoyed fishing, making his own sinkers and lures. He was also noted for his homeade horseradish.
George is survived by his wife, Ann; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Marge, and Bob and Bobbie, all of Seattle, Wash., and Buck and Carolita, Orting, Wash.; one daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Gene Smith, Winlock, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank, Bismarck; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mrs. Annie Garabedian, Lodi, Calif., and Theresa and Ed McArthur, Bismarck.
