Michaela "Kaela" O'Brien
Michaela "Kaela" Barbara O'Brien, 17, the daughter of Mike and Karen (Addington) O'Brien of 1840 Wood-Moor Place, was born Sept. 13, 1979, in Bismarck.
Kaela died Nov. 6, 1996, in Bismarck. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Glenn R. Ramsey Jr. officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services.
Kaela attended Robert Miller Elementary, Simle Junior High and was currently attending Century High School. She played basketball and volleyball in junior high. She enjoyed going snow skiing with her family. Kaela liked water sports and spending time at the family's cabin at Brush Lake.
Kaela loved life and was always smiling.
She is survived by her parents, Mike and Karen; her brother, Jim, and his girlfriend, Melanie Bosch; Kaela's grandparents, Bob Addington, Bismarck, Lila Addington, Phoenix, and Dave and Bev O'Brien, Bismarck; and her special friend, Jess.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Barbara.
Percy Anderson
Percy G. Anderson, 65, 715 N. 12th St., died Nov. 5, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Joel Sherer officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck, with military rites by Bismarck Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1326.
Visitation will begin at the church one hour before services.
Percy was born April 9, 1931, in Jamestown, the son of Henry and Gertrude (Hartmann) Anderson. He was raised in Dickinson and Mandan. Percy served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He worked at Dahners and Singer Sewing Machines in Mandan. He married Irene Hollaar, April 20, 1956, in Mandan. While living in Bismarck, Percy worked for Albrecht's Frozen Food and Grand Forks Grocery until his retirement in 1993. Percy enjoyed restoring furniture, gardening and visiting with people.
Family was very important to Percy. He took great pride in his three grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; one daughter and son-in-law, Georgene and Wally Seibel, Moffit; three grandsons, Waldon Jr., Justin and Matthew; and one sister and brother-in-law, Erna and Curt Wagner, Mandan.

Craig Johnson
Craig Ronald Johnson, 35, Bismarck, died Nov. 3, 1996, in a drowning accident. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Valley City, with the Revs. Charles Plaster and Paul Huso officiating.
Craig was born Sept. 30, 1961, in Bagley, Minn. He attended school in Forest City, Iowa, and in Valley City. He completed his education while serving in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division. At the time of his death he lived in Bismarck, where he was employed with Clooten Siding.
He is survived by one son, Joshua, Williston; his parents, Ronald Q. and Joyce Johnson, Valley City; one brother, Paul, St. Paul, Minn.; two sisters, Bonnie, St. Paul, and Rebecca, Portland, Ore. (Eastgate Funeral Service)

DICKINSON -- Lenora Siewert, 79, Dickinson, died Nov. 6, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillside Baptist Church, Dickinson, with burial in Dickinson Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Gotthilf; four daughters, Ethel Mart, Washburn, Violet Walth, Richardton, Charlene Fraase, Dickinson, and Sharyl Jenkins, Billings, Mont.; one son, Larry, Richardton; six brothers, Rhynold Auch, Florissant, Mo., Arvin Auch, Theophil Auch and Emanuel Auch, all of Dickinson, Edwin Auch, Halliday, and Rudolph Auch, Ada, Minn.; and two sisters, Amanda Frey, Mandan, and Frieda Barry, Billings. Esther Nash
HETTINGER -- Esther V. Nash, 72, Hettinger, died Nov. 6, 1996, in the Hettinger hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. MST Saturday at Hettinger Lutheran Church, with burial in Hettinger Cemetery.
She is survived by one son, Dwight, Fort Pierre, S.D.; three brothers, Leon Englehart, Bison, S.D., and Dean Englehart and Llewellyn Englehart, both of Meadow, S.D.; and five sisters, Ann Carter, Pierre, Lucille Stoeser, Fort Pierre, Edith Kok, Phyllis Nash and Faye Schell, all of Hettinger. Henry Miller
WISHEK -- Henry Miller, 88, Wishek, died Nov. 6, 1996, in the Wishek hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church, Kulm, with burial in Kulm Congregational Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; one daughter, Marjorie Flegel, Kulm; two sons, Erwin, Kulm, and Duane, Richmond, Ky.; six sisters, Bertha Brandenburger, Edgeley, Elsie Nathan, Galt, Calif., Esther Schott, Martha Kinzler and Lydia Brosz, all of Kulm, and Ruth Herman, Fargo; and one brother, Herbert, Ellendale. Edwin Neuharth
MCCLUSKY -- Edwin R. Neuharth, 81, McClusky, died Sept. 29, 1997, in the Carrington nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at McClusky Baptist Church. Burial will be in McClusky City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.
Edwin was born Oct. 4, 1915 in McClusky. He grew up near McClusky and attended rural school there. As a young man he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in North Dakota and Minnesota. He joined the North Dakota National Guard and went into active service April 1, 1941. He served with the 188th field artillery battalion and took part in the Normandy Invasion and Battle of the Bulge while in Europe during World War II. He received five Bronze Combat Stars. After his discharge Sept. 26, 1945 he returned to McClusky. He worked as an auto mechanic and mostly as a farm hand for area farmers. He retired in 1973. He entered the Golden Acres Manor of Carrington in 1984.
He was a member of James Roberts American Legion Post No. 124 of McClusky.
He is survived by five sisters, Helen Wahl and Edna Neuharth, both of McClusky, Tee Holcomb, Great Falls, Mont., Marian Branson, Hasty, Colo., and Evelyn Peter, Valley City; five brothers, Emil, Turtle Lake, Robert and Herbert, both of McClusky, Alvin, Bismarck, and Elmer, Drake; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lydia (Bender) Neuharth; and two sisters, Clara and Gladys.
Elizabeth DelaBarre
GLEN ULLIN -- Elizabeth DelaBarre, 83, Glen Ullin, died Sept. 29, 1997, in Glen Ullin. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with the Rev. Claude Seeberger OSB officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Glen Ullin.
Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Thursday, and is ongoing at the church until time of services. A wake service and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, at the church.
Elizabeth Schantz was born Nov. 26, 1913 in rural Glen Ullin, the daughter of Joachim and Eugenia (Gustin) Schantz. She was raised and educated in the Glen Ullin area. She helped on the farm until her marriage to Edwin DelaBarre April 16, 1936, in Bismarck. Following their marriage they farmed the DelaBarre homestead and raised grain and cattle. They retired in 1967 and moved into Glen Ullin where she had resided since. Edwin died Dec. 15, 1974.
Elizabeth loved to play cards and visit with friends. She had an excellent memory for names and events and a unique sense of humor. Elizabeth entered the Marian Manor Nursing Home in Aug. of 1997.
She is a member of Marian Manor Auxiliary and Christian Mothers.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Charlotte, Glen Ullin; one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Richard Elmer, Glen Ullin; four grandchildren, Jason DelaBarre, Dana Gerving, Troy Elmer and Tanya Wetzel; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Hunter; and one brother, Joachim Schantz, Glen Ullin.

Forrest Krieger
STANTON -- Forrest Krieger, 70, Stanton, died Sept. 28, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MDT Thursday, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Stanton, with the Rev. Jay Spoonheim officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of Forrest's friends. Serving as active pallbearers will be Mike and Shawn Piatz, Jesse Krieger, Bill Bohrer, Clyde Boyko and Larry Klindworth.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. MDT today, at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.
Forrest was born Nov. 20, 1926 south of Hazen in Oliver County, the son of Gust and Olga (Buchmann) Krieger. He grew up in that area and attended school through the 8th Grade in the Spring Brook District. On Feb. 8, 1945 he married Violet Mauch in Beulah. They continued living south of Hazen-Beulah, farming the homeplace, the Johnny Maier place and the Eisenbrown place. In 1958, Forrest and his dad purchased the old Schafer-Knoop Ranch, north of Stanton, and the family moved up there. Violet passed away Oct. 21, 1981. Forrest ranched until 1983. On April 29, 1983 he married Frances Kilber at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Hazen. He worked as a meat cutter at Stanton Super Valu until his death.
Forrest served on the Mercer County Weed Board for many years and also served on an Oliver County School Board for a time. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; his mother, Olga, Knife River Care Center, Beulah; one son, Jesse, Stanton; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Jody Thernes, Sundance, Wyo., Pam and Mike Piatz, Stanton, Tanya and Dennis Bell, Upton, Wyo., and Rainy and Mark Hahn, Hazen; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four stepsons, Butch and Linda Kilber, Virginia Beach, Va., Doug and Trudy Kilber, and John and Eldora Kilber, all of Bismarck, and Kevin and Sheila Kilber, El Cajon, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Carolynne and James Blann, Omaha, Neb., Kathy and Larry Klindworth, Stanton, and Donna Slinde, Bismarck; 12 step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
Forrest was preceded in death by his father; his first wife, Violet; one sister; one son-in-law; and two grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.
Anna Weidner
HALLIDAY -- Anna Weidner, 90, Halliday, died Sept. 29, 1997, in the Beulah nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Friday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Halliday, with the Rev. Scott Kuntz officiating. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery, Halliday.
Serving as pallbearers will be Russell Bahm, Greg and Dean Raether, Gordon and Greg Hoffner, and Duane Wolf.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. MDT Thursday, at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.
Anna was born April 30, 1907 at Kremia, Russia, the daughter of George and Katherine (Boeshans) Hoffner. The family came to the United States in 1910 and homesteaded north of Werner, where Anna was raised and educated. In 1939 she married William Weidner at Halliday. They farmed in the Halliday area their entire married lives. William died in 1963. Anna lived in Halliday until Jan. 22, 1997, when she became a resident of Knife River Care Center, Beulah.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Halliday, and Halliday Senior Citizens.
She is survived by one son, Herbert, Halliday; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Willard Bahm, Flasher, and Annamarie and Darvin Raether, Glencoe, Minn.; six grandchildren, Jodi, Kristi, Kimberly and Russell Bahm, and Greg and Dean Raether; and two sisters, Mathilda Schlender, Hazen, and Milida Lambert, Olympia, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother; and two sisters.
Duane Jorstad
WASHBURN -- Duane J. Jorstad, 47, Washburn, died Sept. 29, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital from natural causes. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at First Lutheran Church, Washburn, with the Revs. Bradley Brauer and Phil Lint officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn, with military graveside rites provided by Washburn American Legion Post No. 12.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn, and will continue one hour prior to services, at the church.
Duane John Jorstad was born Aug. 29, 1950 in Dickinson, to Oliver R. and Ida (Brandner) Jorstad. He grew up in New England, where he graduated from high school in 1968. He attended the State School of Science at Wahpeton, where he studied welding. He then served in the United States Army from September 1969 to August 1971, with time spent serving in Germany.
After his discharge he returned to North Dakota and worked for farmers in the New England area. He married Margo Trousdale June 14, 1973 at Mott. They made their home in Mandan, where he worked for Burlington Northern Railroad. They moved to Washburn in September of 1983, where Duane worked as a railroad car mechanic for the UPA Station at Stanton. He and his wife owned and operated The Flower Shoppe in Washburn. Duane loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was a member of a number of wildlife organizations, member of Mandan American Legion Post, and member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 1593.
He is survived by his wife, Margo; two daughters, Nicki and Heather Jorstad, both of Bismarck; one sister, Marva Jorstad, Bismarck; and special friends, Scott and Mike Christianson, both of Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepfather, Ted Strom.
Lloyd Grovdahl
DICKINSON -- Lloyd W. Grovdahl, 87, Winter Park, Fla., formerly of Dickinson, died Sept. 26, 1997, in a Winter Park hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday, at St. John Lutheran Church, Dickinson. Burial will be in Dickinson Cemetery.
He is survived by one son, David L., Winter Park; and one sister, Elsie Moe, Rochester, Minn. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)
Donald Nerby
Donald Nerby, 67, Mandan, died Sept. 29, 1997, in the Mandan nursing home. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Illinois. Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, was in charge of arrangements.
