Selma A. Haug, 82, Bismarck, died Oct. 29, 1996, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, with burial in Grandfield Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sheyenne.
She is survived by three sons, Norman and Marvin, both of Bismarck, and Robert, Cosby, Tenn.; and one sister, Ruth Moen, Grand Forks.

Mabel Mary Bennett
JUD -- Mabel Mary Bennett, 85, Jud, died Oct. 30, 1996, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Catholic Church of the Transfiguration, Edgeley, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn; three sons, Robert, Fargo, Richard, Edgeley, and Allan, Jamestown; and two daughters, Patricia Barnick, Adrian, and Nancy Buckeye, Edgeley. (Lisko Funeral Home, Jamestown)
Alfred Fried
Alfred Fried, 76, St. Vincent's Nursing Home, died Nov. 1, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1-30 p.m. Monday at Our Saviour's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Carl A. Lindemann officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, with military rites by VFW Post No. 1326.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services.
Alfred was born July 11, 1920, in Linton, the son of William and Katharina Fried. He was raised in the Temvik area where he attended school through the eighth grade. He continued to work on the farm until he entered the U.S. Army, and served during World War II. After his discharge, he met and married Bertha Balliet, Dec. 27, 1946. Alfred and Bertha settled in Hazelton, where he held various jobs, including hauling gas to customers in the Hazelton area, working road construction for Northern Improvement and working for Emmons County, running a maintainer until his retirement in 1982. Alfred and Bertha moved to Bismarck in 1988. He entered St. Vincent's Care Center in December 1991.
Alfred will be remembered for his love of family, and his humorous outlook on life.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha; one son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Diane, Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Gary Milligan, Fargo; two grandchildren, Mark and his wife Cindy Fried, and Janelle Fried, all of Fargo; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Gottlieb, Bismarck; and the staff of St. Vincent's Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and one sister.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Our Saviour's Evangelical Lutheran Church or St. Vincent's Care Center.
Elroy Schneider
Elroy Schneider, 64, 2503 N. Fourth St., died Oct. 31, 1996, in Mandan. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Goodrich, with the Rev. Daniel Herringer officiating. Burial will be in Goodrich Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue at the church one hour before services.
Elroy was born Sept. 20, 1932, in Harvey, the son of Fred K. and Ella (Kiest) Schneider. He was raised and educated in Goodrich, and graduated from Goodrich High School in 1951. He farmed with his father in the Goodrich area. He married Laree M. Suelzle, July 27, 1952, at First Baptist Church, Goodrich. They continued to farm the family farm for about 17 years. They moved into Goodrich in 1967. Elroy worked for Sheridan County operating a motor grader. In 1979 they moved to Bismarck, and Elroy worked for the Coal Gasification Co. in Beulah. Elroy began working for Morton County in 1985, retiring in 1994. He continued to work parttime until his death.
Elroy enjoyed woodworking, and watching sports with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Laree; one daughter, Vicki Schneider, Bismarck; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Glenn and Helen, Bismarck, Corry, Minot, Clinton and Donna Gail, Denham Springs, La., and Freddie Kay and Pam, Bismarck; four grandchildren, Tasha, David, Jordan and Paige Schneider; his stepmother, Hilda Matz, Bismarck; and one stepbrother, Elmer Fandrich, Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; two uncles and one aunt.
The family prefers memorials to Anne Carlson School in Jamestown.
Steven Starr
Steven B. Starr, 51, Bismarck, died Oct. 28, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at noon Monday at Bismarck Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ray Kelch officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Steven was born Aug. 22, 1945, to Hubert and Nel (Baldwin) Starr, in Portland, Ore. Steven joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1965-1968. He married Betty Jean McMillen, May 23, 1969, in Worland, Wyo. He has been employed as a truck driver for the last 15 years. Steven loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed working with wood.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Stephanie Starr, Bismarck, and Sherry Starr, Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Dan, Vashion, Wash., and Rodger, Forest Grove, Ore.; two grandchildren, Steven and Phillip Bendickson; and four step-grandchildren, Dennis and LaPaige Bendickson, and Brandy and Bruce Gentry.

Charles Brenner
CARSON -- Charles F. Brenner, 72, Carson, died Nov. 1, 1996, at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Monday, at New Leipzig Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don DenHartog officiating. Burial will be in Leith Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Elgin, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Charles Frederick Brenner was born May 5, 1924, to William and Margaret (Heuther) Brenner at their farm in Corson County, S.D. near McIntosh. He received his early education in a rural Grant County school north of Watauga, S.D., and graduated from Leith High School in 1942. He worked in California for a time and on farms in Grant County.
On Oct. 29, 1944, he married Isabelle Schmitz at St. Johns Church in the Paradise Community of Grant County. They lived in Elgin where he worked for the Farmers Union Oil Co. and in construction in the area. They moved to Killdeer where he managed the Farmers Union Elevator. In 1962 they moved to Glasgow, Mont., and he managed an elevator there. In 1970 they moved to Anchorage, Alaska, and he worked as a janitor and in maintenance for Anchorage Baptist Temple and School, the largest church in Alaska.
The Brenners were blessed with four children, Evonne, Margaret, Cathy and Tom. In September of 1986 he retired and they travelled for a time before moving to Carson in June of 1987. Charles loved to hunt, fish, bowl and do crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed working in his garden. He was a member of Anchorage Baptist Temple and attended the New Leipzig Baptist Church.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Isabelle, Carson; one son, Tom and his wife, Eileen Brenner, Anchorage, Alaska; three daughters, Evonne Rowse, San Antonio, Texas, Margaret and her husband, the Rev. Gail Mitchell, Iowa City, Iowa, and Cathy and her husband, Jim Fox, Brownsburg, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ruben, Isabel, S.D., Emil, Lodi, Calif., and Clarence, Monterey, Calif.; and three sisters, Bertha Schadler, Carson, Helen Ketchum, South Beach, Calif., and Emma Handel, Stockton, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and one brother, Robert.
A memorial has been established.

Jerry Blotske
Jerry Blotske, 45, 231 Sheehan Road, died Nov. 16, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Ascension Church, Bismarck, with burial in Mandan Union Cemetery.
Jerry was born Aug. 17, 1951, in Mandan, the son of Ferdnand and Margaret (Eckroth) Blotske. He attended and graduated from Selfridge High School. He married Dinah Fergel, May 26, 1978, in Mandan. They lived in Mandan until 1993, when they moved to south Bismarck. Jerry was employed by Bismarck Public Works Department.
Jerry enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, yard work and most especially restoring Ford tractors. Jerry enjoyed life to the fullest, always giving a hand and making a joke. He was a good husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Dinah; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jason and Laurie and Ryan, all of Bismarck; two grandchildren, Tyler and Danielle; his parents, Ferdnand and Margaret Blotske, Selfridge; his grandmother, Mary Eckroth, Mandan; one brother, James and his fiance, Sheila Huber, both of Selfridge; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane and James Waliser, Selfridge, Donna and David Gazo, Lenoir, N.C., Marlene and Jerry Romano, Valrico, Fla., and Karen and Kelly Schaeffer, Mandan; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Ricky Lee Sneed, 41, Mandan, died Nov. 19, 1996, in his home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with burial in Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, where a rosary will be said at 7 tonight.
Ricky was born Sept. 9, 1955, at East St. Louis, Ill., the son of Marvin and Agnes (Kuntz) Sneed.
He is survived by one son, Ricky Lee Jr., Napa, Calif.; his mother, Agnes, Mandan; two sisters, Vicky and Teri Sneed, both of Mandan; one brother and sister-in-law, Kerry and Stephanie, Mandan; one niece, Sydney Sneed; and one nephews, Kayne Moser.
