Alden Brown
BALDWIN -- Alden Eugene Brown, 52, Baldwin, died Nov. 14, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital after a long, painful battle with cancer. Services will be at noon today at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Revs. Theodore Gustin and Charles Heidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.
Alden was born April 5, 1944, in Bismarck, the son of Harry and Ethel (Little) Brown. He was raised and educated in Baldwin and Bismarck. He married Patricia Hruby at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Wilton, on Oct. 17, 1964. In 1965 they moved onto Alden's parents' farm near Baldwin, where they have since resided. Alden loved and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren.
He struggled for the past couple of months to reach his goal to stay alive until his three-week-old granddaughter, Maranda, was born. He enjoyed the outdoors and visiting with his friends.
He was a member of Bismarck Elks, Eagles and Farmers Union.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Monte Sabot, Bismarck, and Melinda and Todd Wagner, Wolf Point, Mont.; one son, Shannon, Baldwin; one sister and brother-in-law, Arlo and Don Thompson, Bismarck; three grandchildren, Brittany and Jaden Sabot, both of Bismarck, and Maranda Wagner, Wolf Point; and many very special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Dale.
Eugene Haack
FIRESTEEL, S.D. -- Eugene Henry Haack, 74, Bismarck, formerly of Firesteel, S.D., died Nov. 17, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Cremation has taken place in Bismarck, and a memorial graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Isabel Cemetery, Isabel, S.D.
Eugene Haack was born Sept. 21, 1922, to Henry and Mae (Sorenson) Haack, on the family farm near Lebanon. The family moved in the early 1930s to LaPlante, where he attended school. The family then moved to Firesteel. Eugene served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. On June 17, 1943, Eugene and Janice Locken were united in marriage in Timber Lake. Eugene and Janice moved onto the Owl Ranch in Firesteel and worked for the Rahberg family until they purchased the ranch. They farmed and ranched for 53 years. Because of Eugene's failing health, they moved off the ranch to Bismarck this month.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Janice; one son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Connie, Firesteel; one daughter and son-in-law, Raetta and Leonard Martian, Bismarck; four grandchildren, LaVonne, Justin, Jason and Brandon; two great-grandchildren, Alicia and Derrick; one sister, Donna Stransky, Florissant, Mo.; one aunt, Rose Haack, Howard; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Merle and Lloyd; and one sister, Ethel. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Harry Wehri
GLEN ULLIN -- Harry Wehri, 79, Glen Ullin, died Nov. 16, 1996, in Glen Ullin. Services will be at 10 a.m. MST Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with burial in St. Clements Cemetery, Haymarsh.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the church, where a vigil service and rosary will begin at 7 p.m. today.
Harry was born May 7, 1917, near Glen Ullin, to William F. and Marcellena (Potts) Wehri. He was raised at Haymarsh and educated at St. Clement's School. He married Louise Duppong on April 11, 1939, at Glen Ullin. They were busy with the duties of building up their farm and raising their family. Louise died Oct. 22, 1971. Harry remained on the farm, and on April 4, 1975, he married Lena Gartner. They moved into Glen Ullin. Harry entered the Marian Manor nursing home in 1983 and resided since. Lena died Oct. 22, 1996.
He was a member of St. Clements Men's Club, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, Hebron Elevator Board, Hebron Creamery Board, Morton County ASCS, Haymarsh Telephone and St. Clements Choir.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Rita, Bloomington, Minn., William and Louise, Dillon, Mont.; two daughters, Harriet Ficek, Dickinson, and Virginia Helfrich, Bothell, Wash.; five stepchildren, Gerald Gartner, Coon Rapids, Minn., Richard Gartner, Fargo, Jacqueline Dassinger, Forsythe, Mont., Noreen Lefor, Aberdeen, S.D., and Linda Meredith, Baker, Mont.; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Urban and Cletus, Glen Ullin, and Armin and Waldo, Hebron; and four sisters, Alma Tavis and Angie Duppong, Glen Ullin, Marcie Fruehe, Glasgow, Mont., and Bernice Wehri, Hebron.

Jerry Blotske, 45, 231 Sheehan Road, died Nov. 16, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ascension Church, Bismarck, with burial in Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m.
Jerry was born Aug. 17, 1951, in Mandan, the son of Ferdinand and Margaret (Eckroth) Blotske. He attended and graduated from Selfridge High School. He married Dinah Fergel on May 26, 1978, in Mandan. They lived in Mandan until 1993, when they moved to south Bismarck. Jerry was employed by Bismarck Public Works Department.
Jerry enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, yard work and most especially restoring Ford tractors. Jerry enjoyed life to the fullest, always giving a hand and making a joke. He was a good husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Dinah; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jason and Laurie, and Ryan, all of Bismarck; two grandchildren, Tyler and Danielle; his parents, Ferdinand and Margaret Blotske, Selfridge; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane and James Waliser, Selfridge, Donna and David Gazo, Lenoir, N.C., Marlene and Jerry Romano, Valrico, Fla., and Karen and Kelly Schaeffer, Mandan.
Wilma Summers
CANNON BALL -- Wilma Summers, 65, Cannon Ball, died Nov. 16, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cannon Ball School Gym, with the Rev. John Floberg officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Cannon Ball.
A wake service will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at the school gym. Wilma was born June 30, 1931, at Cannon Ball, the daughter of George and Lucy (Hawk Bear) American Horse. She was raised and educated at Cannon Ball and Fort Yates. Wilma married Milton Summers on April 22, 1954, at Cannon Ball. They made their home there and she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Milton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Wayne Iron Hawk, Cannon Ball, Twilla and Sam Rough Surface, Kenel, S.D., and Anita and Rick DeHorse, Eagle Butte, S.D.; five sons and two daughters-in-law, Cecil and Cora American Horse, Kaibeto, Ariz., Alton and Donna Summers, Collin Summers, Richard Summers and Kenneth Summers, all of Cannon Ball; one sister, Gloria American Horse, Cannon Ball; two brothers, Tony American Horse and George American Horse, both of Cannon Ball; 29 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Loretta Tebelius
Loretta V. Tebelius, 80, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, died Nov. 16, 1996, in the nursing home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Seventh St. and Ave. D, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ron Gladen officiating. Burial will be in Chapel of the Chimes Mausoleum, Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will begin at noon today at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue to service time.
Loretta was born Feb. 24, 1916, at Tolstoy, S.D., the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Zweigardt) Preszler. She was raised and educated at Tolstoy, before she moved to Mandan. The family moved to Harvey, where she graduated from high school in 1933. She married Lawrence Tebelius on Aug. 21, 1938, in Harvey. They lived in Bismarck, where she worked at A.W. Lucas Co. When their first child was born, Loretta remained at home to raise her family.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church since 1950 and was actively involved in the Faith Circle. She resided at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center since August 1991.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sandra, Eden Prairie, Minn.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and Gordon Close, Denver, and Linda and David Christianson, Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren, Lara and Marc Tebelius, Brian Close, Scott Close and his wife, Julie, and Heather Christianson; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Elaine Preszler, Rotunda West, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family prefers memorials to First Lutheran Church in Bismarck.

Pius Fischer
Pius A. Fischer, 80, St. Vincent's Nursing Home, Bismarck, died Oct. 30, 1996, in the nursing home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Rev. Charles Heidt officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck, with military rites by VFW Gilbert N. Nelson Post No. 1326.
Visitation is ongoing at Boelter Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7 tonight, with the Deacon Ken Klein presiding. The rosary will be followed by a time of sharing.
Pius was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Bismarck, to Wendlin and Eva (Roehrich) Fischer. He attended St. Mary's Grade School until the fourth grade and then attended a rural Lincoln school. He worked on the family farm before serving with the Civilian Conservation Corp in Little Rock, Ark. He entered the U.S. Army, July 23, 1936, serving at Fort Lincoln and Fort Riley, Kan. After his discharge, July 23, 1939, he returned to Bismarck and worked construction. He married Emma Clooten, Sept. 23, 1939, in Baker, Mont. In 1941, he began working for Oscar H. Will Seed House until 1948 when he went to work for the MDU Power Plant in Bismarck. He transferred to the Heskett Plant in Mandan in 1952. He worked there until his retirement in 1977. Pius and his wife enjoyed gardening, and were among the founders of the Farmers Market in Bismarck.
He was a life member of Central Dakota Gem and Mineral Club. Pius loved the outdoors, including hunting and fishing.
He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Myrna and Donald, Anderson, Mandan, Sharon Balkowitsch, Bismarck, and Lugene and Mike Gerber, Dickinson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lyle and Lois, Wolf Point, Mont., and Albert and Jean, Mandan; one sister, Francis Kropinak, Sacramento, Calif.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Joan, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; very special friend, Mary Sukut; a special nephew and niece, Jim and Cheri Rudnick; and the caregivers at St. Vincent's Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma, who died in 1990; his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
Emil Riha
Dr. Emil F. Riha, 78, 500 W. Boulevard Ave., died Oct. 29, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas Kramer officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a rosary will be said at 7 tonight. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services.
Dr. Riha was born Aug. 3, 1918, in McClusky, to James and Albina (Kvasnica) Riha. After attending grade school and high school in McClusky, he attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks from 1936 to 1938. He earned a doctor of dental surgery degree from Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago in 1942. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942, serving as base dental surgeon to the 392nd Bombardment Group of the Eighth Air Force stationed at Wendling, England. After his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to Bismarck where he practiced dentistry until 1988. Upon his retirement he was recognized by the Missouri Slope District Dental Society for 46 years of service to the dental profession.
Dr. Riha married Margaret M. Kapsner, June 7, 1948, in Mandan.
He was a member of Bismarck Elks Lodge, Eagles Club, American Legion, 40 et 8 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters and one son-in-law, Margaret Riha Feldick and Robert Feldick, Shoreview, Minn., and Patricia Riha, Apple Valley, Minn.; one son, Richard, Bismarck; one brother-in-law, and his wife, Charles and Marian Kapsner, Bismarck; one nephew and his wife, John C. Kapsner and Carol Ronning Kapsner, Bismarck; and one cousin, Clara Rasmussen, Regan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Dr. Stanley Riha.
