Jacob Unterseher
BEULAH -- Jacob Unterseher, 87, Beulah, died Nov. 14, 1996, in his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Uris Nyman officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, north of Dunn Center.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jake's grandsons, Kevin Buehner, Glenn Kroh, Michael Unterseher, Mitch Unterseher, Mark Unterseher, Terry Kroh, Kenneth Kroh and Ernsest Charnetzki.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. MST Sunday at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.
Jake was born Oct. 22, 1909, a son of Fred and Magdelena (Holzworth) Unterseher, in Lichtental, Bassarabia, Romania. He came with his parents to the United States in 1909. They settled at Mannhaven, and in 1914, homesteaded at Killdeer. On Nov. 11, 1934, he married Edna Kilber at Red Butte. They made their home north of Killdeer until 1949, when they moved to a farm near Hazen. They have lived at their present farm home south of Beulah since 1954. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and farm organizations. Jake enjoyed working on his farm and planting trees until he became ill. He had a real love for animals, which extended to the wildlife that showed up in the many trees he had planted.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; three sons and daughters-in-law, Allan and Cary, Mandan, Marvin and Connie, Velva, and Arvid and Virginia, Longmont, Colo.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Gene Buehner, Halliday, Luella and Albert Kroh, Bismarck, and Bonnie and David Horn, Longmont, Colo.; five brothers, Fred, Glen Ullin, Bill, Madison, Wis., Emil, Laurel, Mont., Albert, Spokane, Wash., and Ralph, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Elsie Kimball and Alma Baxter, both of Spokane, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Alden Brown
BALDWIN -- Alden Eugene Brown, 52, Baldwin, died Nov. 14, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital after a long, painful battle with cancer. Services will be held at noon Monday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Revs. Theodore Gustin and Charles Heidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service. No visitation will be held at the church. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with a vigil to follow.
Alden was born April 5, 1944, in Bismarck, the son of Harry and Ethel (Little) Brown. He was raised and educated in Baldwin and Bismarck. He married Patricia Hruby at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Wilton, on Oct. 17, 1964. In 1965 they moved to Alden's parents' farm near Baldwin where they have since resided. Alden loved and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He struggled for the past couple of months to reach his goal to stay alive until his three-week-old granddaughter, Miranda, was born. He enjoyed the outdoors and visiting with his friends.
He was a member of Bismarck Elks, Eagles and Farmers Union.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Monte Sabot, Bismarck, and Melinda and Todd Wagner, Wolf Point, Mont.; one son, Shannon, Baldwin; one sister and brother-in-law, Arlo and Don Thompson, Bismarck; three grandchildren, Brittany and Jaden Sabot, both of Bismarck, and Miranda Wagner, Wolf Point; and many very special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Dale.
Dawn Jacobsen
Dawn Lynn Jacobsen, 46, 422 Mason Ave., died Nov. 14, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steven Sathre officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.
Dawn was born Aug. 15, 1950, at Bismarck, the daughter of Herman and Vivian (Siems) Jacobsen. She was raised and educated in Bismarck, and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1968. She graduated from Bismarck School of Nursing and worked for a hospital in Wishek. She later worked for Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, Calif. She returned to Bismarck in 1985 and was working for Housing, Industry and Training.
Dawn loved to read.
She is survived by her father, Herman; and one sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Richard Cook, Coeur d' Alene, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Vivian, in October 1995.
Ferne Risser
DICKINSON -- Ferne Risser, 76, Dickinson, died Nov. 15, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Monday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending.
Frank Mayer
MOTT -- Frank G. Mayer, 78, Mott, died Nov. 14, 1996, in the Hettinger hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Mott, with burial in the church cemetery.

DICKINSON -- Philip J. Guthmiller, 72, Dickinson, died Nov. 11, 1996, in Palm Springs, Calif. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with burial in Dickinson Mausoleum.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie; one daughter, Verna Kreutz, Green Bay, Wis.; nine sisters, Eva Hartinger, Bismarck, Bertha Krank, Lydia Strom and Rose Myron, all of Dickinson, Katherine Conradson, Minneapolis, Pauline Flinn and Leona Schmidt, both of Madras, Ore., Eleanor Hanks, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Elsie Powell, Downville, La.; and two brothers, Jack, Puyallup, Wash., and Henry, St. Petersburg. Frieda Woodworth
Frieda Woodworth, 79, Bismarck, died Nov. 15, 1996, in her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Church of God of Prophecy, Bismarck, with the Rev. Barry Lee officiating. Burial will be in Stewartsdale Cemetery, rural Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services.
Frieda was born Jan. 5, 1917, northeast of Washburn. She married Walter S. Woodworth. They worked together in gardening until retiring at 1713 E. Rosser Ave. Frieda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother; and great-great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; two daughters; two sons; five stepsons; one stepdaughter; many daughters-in-law and sons-in-law; one sister; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; 34 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters.
Otilla Schumaker
JAMESTOWN -- Otilla Schumaker, 89, Jamestown, died Nov. 15, 1996, in Jamestown. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at American English Lutheran Church, Medina, with burial in Medina Cemetery.
She is survived by four daughters, Stella Schlaht, Watertown, S.D., Lucille Mayer, Medina, Betty Peters, Manley, Iowa, and Marlys Kunze, Valley City; two sons, Ervin, Fargo, and Alvin, Buchanan; and three sisters, Carolina Martin, Streeter, Rosella Dewald, Jamestown, and Margaret Graf, Bismarck. DICKINSON -- Ferne Risser, 76, Dickinson, died Nov. 15, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Monday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Bismarck, with burial in Dickinson Cemetery.
She is survived by one son, Patrick O'Neill, San Antonio, Texas; one brother, William Walters, Vancouver, Wash.; and one sister, Phyllis Perdaems, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Thomas Petri
GLEN ULLIN -- Thomas H. Petri, 78, Glen Ullin, died Nov. 16, 1996, in Glen Ullin. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Tuesday at St. John United Church of Christ, Hebron, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Spangelo's Funeral Home, Hebron, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A prayer service will begin at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Thomas was born Dec. 24, 1917, at Hebron, to Henry and Effie (Morris) Petri. He was raised and educated at Hebron. He took agricultural courses at North Dakota State University and farmed with his father until entering the U.S. Navy in 1942. Tom served on the U.S.S. Getling and was in the battle at Iwo Jima. After his discharge Tom returned to the area where he co-owned an earth construction company. Tom was a pilot and owned his own plane. He enjoyed the Flying Club meetings and Flying Farmer meetings. Tom married Tillie Kitzan Dec. 23, 1951, at Hebron. They worked the land and tended to his dairy cows. They retired in 1975 and built a new home. Tom entered Marian Manor Nursing Home in Glen Ullin in May 1994, where he has resided since.
He was a member of Hebron American Legion, Hebron Credit Union Board and Creamery Board and St. John Church Council. He also served as a Sunday school teacher.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Bev, Hebron; one daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine and Wendy Schaan, Mandan; one granddaughter, Stephanie Petri, Hebron; and two sisters, Vera Kindsvogel and Martha Sheldon, both of Billings, Mont.
He was preceded by his wife, who died Nov. 7, 1994; and his parents.
Bertha Krueger
KULM -- Bertha Krueger, 84, Kulm, died Nov. 15, 1996, in her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Martin Lutheran Church, Fredonia, with the Rev. Annette Crickenburger officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery at Fredonia.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Haut Funeral Home, Gackle, where a prayer service will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Bertha Burkle was born June 6, 1912, on the family farm four miles north of Fredonia, the daughter of John H. and Christina (Hehr) Burkle. She attended the local rural school. She and Edwin Krueger were married Jan. 31, 1943, at Fredonia. They made their home on the farmstead where they farmed until moving into Kulm in 1988. Edwin died June 18, 1989. She continued to live in Kulm.
She enjoyed tending to her flower garden and embroidering.
She was a member of Martin Lutheran Lutheran Church, Fredonia, and a longtime member of the Altar Guild, church choir and Women of the ELCA.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Lila, Bismarck; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ida and Edmund Janke, Gackle, and Esther and Ted Burkle, Wishek.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers; and two sisters.
Emilia Heine
BEULAH -- Emilia Heine, 91, Beulah, died Nov. 15, 1996, in the nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Monday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 3:30 p.m. MST today at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen, and from 4 to 5 p.m. today at Beulah Community Nursing Home.
She is survived by two daughters, Delores Reiner, Longmont, Colo., and Bernice Herrmann, Beulah; and two sisters, Ella Heine, Ellendale, and Ida Horning, Stanton.
