Frieda Weber
STEELE -- Frieda (Wurtele) Weber, 78, Steele, formerly of Las Vegas, died Nov. 25, 1996 in a Bismarck hospital. A celebration of Frieda's life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Word of Faith Church, Steele, with the Rev. Bud Auvil officiating. In the spring, Frieda's ashes will be placed near her parent's grave at Lutheran Cemetery, Streeter.

Frieda was born Aug. 17, 1918, on a farm seven miles northwest of Streeter, to William and Eva (Mittleider) Wurtele. She was the fourth oldest child in a family of six girls and two boys. At an early age Frieda left home bound and determined to become a big city girl. She spent her early adulthood working as a cosmetician, secretary and cashier while residing in Fargo, Chicago, Miami, Norfolk and parts of California before settling down in Las Vegas for over 30 years while she worked in various casinos along the Strip.

She returned to North Dakota in August of 1992 and settled in Steele where she would be closer to her family. Frieda married Ed Kolzlowski in 1942 and he died in 1953. On June 16, 1959 Frieda and Fred Weber were united in marriage in Stockton, Calif. Fred died in December of 1990.

Frieda will be remembered as a gourmet cook, a lover of classical music, an old movies enthusiast, and an avid reader before failing eyesight and poor health took its toll.

Frieda is survived by five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Emma Strand, Mitchell, S.D., Anna Iszler, Polly and Joe Goldade and Edna and Neal Jones, all of Steele, and Laura McCreery, Galt, Calif.; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Ron and Jean Wurtele, Sacramento, Calif., and Hulda Wurtele, Harvey; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Otto. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Elmer Bethke
Elmer Bethke, 90, 5450 Apple Creek Road, Bismarck, died Nov. 25, 1996, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Bismarck Alliance Church, with the Revs. George Walker and Dave Biddle officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. CST Saturday, at Bethel Church Cemetery, south of Judson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Elmer was born Sept. 9, 1906, in Judson, where he was raised on the family farm. He was a member of Bethel German Evangelical Church of North America. He attended several Bible instruction classes during four summers. Elmer was married to Velora Kunkel in 1927.

He attended North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo and the State School of Science in Wahpeton. Until 1941, he farmed and worked in shops. That year he started his own electrical business in Mandan, later moving to Bismarck. In 1954 he built Hill Crest Acres Trailer Park.

In 1946 he became a member of Gideon International. He was a member of First Evangelical Free Church and Bismarck Alliance Church.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Merlin and Carol, Weaverville, Calif.; one granddaughter and her family, Karen, Eric and great-grandsons, Donald and James Palmer, all of Weaverville; one sister, Evelyn Held, New Salem; one brother and sister-in-law, Emery and Lillian Bethke, Mandan; one brother-in-law, Ed Lang, Mandan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

David Wolf
David A. Wolf, 77, Fargo, died Nov. 25, 1996, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Church of the Nativity, Fargo.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today, at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30.

David was employed by the Veterans Administration, Fargo. The major part of his V.A. career was as chairman of the Disability Rating Board at Fargo. In addition to his employment, he participated in several other activities. He was involved for 44 years in North Dakota Boys State, primarily as the Director of the program.

He was active in athletic officiating for 25 years, officiating at approximately 2,000 contests and was inducted into the North Dakota Officials Hall of Fame in November of 1973. In October of 1996, he was also inducted into the North Dakota State College of Science Athletic Hall of Fame. He was also an avid racquetball and tennis player for some 30 years.

David is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Rosemarie; six children, Michael (Kathleen) Wolf, Edina, Minn., Kathleen Wolf, Novato, Calif., Thomas (Hattie) Wolf, Spokane, Wash., Mary Wolf, Las Cruces, N.M., Janet Wolf, Evanston, Ill.; and Timothy (Lisa) Wolf, Spokane; and six grandchildren, Adam, Ursula, Conrad, Gavin, Devon and Ian.

Florence Brindle
HAZELTON -- Florence Angie Brindle, 57, Hazelton, died Nov. 26, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Hazelton. Further arrangements are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Cora Int Veldt
STRASBURG -- Cora Int Veldt, 91, Strasburg, died Nov. 26, 1996, in the Strasburg nursing home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at Hope Reformed Church, Westfield. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery.

She is survived by one son, Arlin Int Veldt, Strasburg; one daughter, Wilma Looyenga, Mandan; and one sister, Hester Hollaar, Sioux Center, Iowa. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)

Delores Isaak
BEULAH -- Delores Isaak, 63, Beulah, formerly of Hazen, died Nov. 26, 1996, in the Beulah nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Friday, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Hazen. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Hazen.

She is survived by six sisters, Elsie Sailer, Garrison, Lorentina Weisz and Hildegard Wallender, both of Hazen, Gertrude Ziemann, Dickinson, Selma Unterseher, Bismarck, and Jeanette Zelloer, Spokane, Wash.; and three brothers, Walter and Armond Isaak, Hazen, and Elmer Isaak, The Dallas, Ore. Fred Schock
NEW LEIPZIG -- Fred K. Schock, 88, New Leipzig, died Nov. 26, 1996, in the Elgin hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Saturday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Leipzig, with the Rev. John Amundson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, at Hertz Brothers Funeral Home, New Leipzig. Serving as pallbearers will be Rodger Schock, LeRoy Weikum, Ronald Weikum, Morris Iszler, Norman Delzer, Norman Iszler, Rudy Schock and Marvin Schock. All grandchildren and great-grandchildren are honorary pallbearers.

Fred Schock was born Aug. 28, 1908, on the family homestead north of Elgin, to Fred and Katherine (Heupel) Schock. He received his elementary education in a rural school and attended high school in St. Paul, Minn. On April 6, 1934 he married Rocelia Iszler at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Rudolf Heupel performing the ceremony.

Fred and Rocelia farmed north of New Leipzig for more than 50 years. Fred taught German Bible School and Sunday School in various rural churches and at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Leipzig, where he was a member. He also served on the church council. He was a Grant County commissioner, county assessor, a school board member of the New Leipzig Public School and served on various other boards and associations.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Rocelia; his children, Delores and Harold Rivinius, Elgin, Loretta and Ernest Schulz, New Leipzig, Marion and Bill Goetz, Dickinson, and Martin and Marjorie Schock, New Leipzig; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Olivia Weikum, Elgin; and one brother, Ruben Schock, Elgin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and four brothers.

Eletha Fylling
Eletha Fylling, 80, Ruso, died Nov. 27, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake.

Jacob Kuntz
LINTON -- Jacob Kuntz, 76, Linton, died Nov. 27, 1996, in the Linton hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, with the Rev. Matthew Arackal officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Jacob was born May 1, 1920, on a farm east of Linton, the son of Jacob and Frances (Feist) Kuntz. He attended rural schools and farmed with his parents until his marriage to Christina Wolf, June 17, 1941, at St. Michael's Catholic Church Church, rural Linton. They farmed in the Temvik area, later moving back to the St. Michael's area. In 1978 they retired into Linton, where he was the maintenance and groundskeeper for St. Anthony's Catholic Church and also served as a trustee.

He loved to dance, play cards, visit with friends and family and raised fancy riding horses. He was a former member of Beaver Valley Horse Club.

He is survived by his wife, Christina; three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Luella, Dundee, Mich., Richard and Betty, Grand Forks, and Larry and Amy, Moorhead, Minn.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Bernice and Tony Wickenheiser, Pelican Rapids, Minn., Luetta and Gary Bridge, Spicer, Minn., Leeann and Dennis Wiger, Danville, Ind., and Lilly and Rod Kiemele, Dickinson; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Frances Bernhardt, Bismarck, Barbara Fischer, Lodi, Calif., and Mary Schneider, Aberdeen, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and two sisters.

Larry Nudell
Larry Nudell, 63, 3405 Montreal St., died Nov. 28, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Florence Brindle
HAZELTON -- Florence A. Brindle, 57, Hazelton, died Nov. 26, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Hazelton, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Bismarck.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; three sons, Daniel, Monte and Alan, all of Hazelton; two brothers, Leo Goldade and Richard Goldade, both of Minot; and six sisters, Adeline Grossman, Velva, Irene Gefroh and Marian Timpke, both of Yakima, Wash., Alice Reierson, Dickinson, Lorraine Graf, Bismarck, and Sally Sexton, Vancouver, Wash. Rosalia Lautt
WISHEK -- Rosalia Lautt, 93, Wishek, died Nov. 27, 1996, in the Wishek nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek.

Matilda Gittel
GLEN ULLIN -- Matilda Gittel, 96, Glen Ullin, died Nov. 28, 1996, in the Glen Ullin nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin.

Eletha Fylling
RUSO -- Eletha O. Fylling, 80, Ruso, died Nov. 27, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Turtle Lake, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Knute; three daughters, Geraldine Makeeff, Mercer, Beverly Wendt, Minot, and Renee Hastings, Eaton, Colo.; three sons, Leon, Ruso, Robert, Minot, and Wayne, Jamestown; and three sisters, Bernice Falck, Bismarck, Freda Malloy, Garrison, and Pearl Gabrahd, Prairie City, S.D. Alvina Buchman
GOODRICH -- Alvina Buchman, 63, Goodrich, died Nov. 27, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, McClusky. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Elmer Seibel
HARVEY -- Elmer Seibel, 86, Fort Collins, Colo., formerly of Harvey, died Nov. 27, 1996, in a Fort Collins hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mennonite Brethren Church, Harvey, with burial in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey.

He is survived by three daughters, Marlene Ratzlaff, Denver, Phyllis Peterson and Lucinda Schultz, both of Fort Collins; and two sisters, Bertha Vix, Minot, and Linda Nutz, Harvey. (Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)

Wayne Morris
DICKINSON -- Wayne E. Morris, 80, Dickinson, died Nov. 27, 1996, at his home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Saturday, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church Dickinson.

He is survived by his wife, Bethel; two daughters, Carla Morris and Pamela Locket, both of Dickinson; five sons, James, Casper, Wyo., Robert, Bismarck, Milo, Dickinson, and Jeffrey and Guy both of Vancouver, Wash.; four brothers, Floyd, Low Gap, N.C., Glenn, Prosser, Wash., Milo, Lodi, Mo., and Theodore, Felton, Del.; and two sisters, June Brooks, Selah, Wash., and Stella Lakey, Lake Side, Ore. Alvina Buchman
GOODRICH -- Alvina Buchman, 63, Goodrich, died Nov. 27, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10-30 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, McClusky, with burial at 2 p.m. Monday in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Sunday at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Alvina was born Nov. 11, 1933, on the family farm near Regan, to Edward and Lillian (Hochhalter) Schafer. She grew up and attended school in the Regan area. She married Emil Buchman on June 26, 1952, at Wilton. They lived and farmed near Baldwin. They moved to a farm near Goodrich in 1955. They moved into Goodrich in 1961. In 1965 she began working for Goodrich Public School as a cook. She retired in 1994.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, a 38-year member of Goodrich American Legion Auxiliary and a member of Denhoff Homemakers Club. She enjoyed many types of crafts.

She is survived by her husband, Emil; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Michael Sheets, Jamestown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Wanda, and Lyle and Julie, all of Bowman; eight grandchildren; her mother, Lillian Schafer, Bismarck; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Esther and Harold Hemming, Billings, Mont., and Marjory and Kenneth Konschak, Goodrich; one brother, Alvin, Sacramento, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Yvonne, who died at birth; and one granddaughter, Rita Buchman.

Larry Nudell
Larry W. Nudell, 63, 3405 Montreal St., died Nov. 28, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ron Gladen officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m.-noon Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Larry was born Dec. 30, 1932, in Buffalo, the son of Earl and Bernice (Johnson) Nudell. He was raised and educated in Buffalo. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. Larry married Donna Sletmoe on Jan. 20, 1954, in Colfax. She died Sept. 3, 1981.

Larry attended Valley City State College, where he graduated with a degree in education. He began his teaching career in Turtle Lake, where he was the principal for two years. Larry received his master's degree from North Dakota State University in Fargo in 1968. They then moved to Carrington, where he taught and was the principal. In 1972 they moved to Harvey, where Larry was superintendent of schools for 19 years.

He married Marcella Mayer-Schmaltz on Oct. 1, 1983, in Harvey. They moved to Gettysburg, S.D., where he was superintendent of schools for four years. He retired in 1995. They moved to Bismarck in 1995. Larry served as president-elect, president and past president of North Dakota Association of School Administrators.

He was legislative liaison for North Dakota Council of Educational Leaders. He was a member of many professional, fraternal and civic organizations.

Larry's motto was, ``Whatever is best for the students."

He is survived by his wife, Marcella; one son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Linda, Hettinger; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Dale Such, Fremont, Calif., and Barbara and Douglas Whelan, Crystal; three stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Ronald and Sally Schmaltz, Des Moines, Iowa, Richard and JoAnn Schmaltz, Bismarck, and Robert and Joyce Schmaltz, Fargo; two stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Wanda and Jay Scherbenske, Marquette, Mich., and Carla and Jerry Laeger, Bismarck; 11 grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Marlyn, Fargo, and Robert and Lana, Buffalo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna; his parents; and one sister-in-law, CJ Nudell.

Helmer Larson
BISBEE -- Helmer Larson, 91, Bisbee, died Nov. 29, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bisbee Lutheran Church. Further arrangements are pending at Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, Cando.
